The Broken Sword saga kicks off with the best you can get in point 'n' click adventure. You play George Stobbart, an American tourist who's visiting Europe. After a stop off for a coffee at a French cafe, George finds himself chasing after an international assassin dressed as a clown, gets dragged into a global conspiracy with roots going back to the 11th century, travels the world in trying to find pieces of a puzzle to a mysterious document and to top it all off he gets continuously heckled by a French journalist.Although this sounds like something Dave Gorman would end up doing by accident after getting drunk, the game itself is a supurb piece of entertainment. The puzzles take you in gradually - there's nothing here that is so quirky and so abstract you'll hurt yourself thinking about it -and the first half an hour is probably the most fun I've had on a computer game. Revolution had a go at the adventure genre with Lure of the Temptress, improved upon it with Beneath the Steel Sky and ended up with creating one of the most likeable characters to grace a computer screen, with no small thanks to Rolf Saxon who plays him.BS 2 goes off on a tangent with more quirky humour and slightly harder puzzles. Indeed, at one point George himself states that "I scare myself sometimes" when trying to work out one in a particular. This makes out that the creators are self-aware and know how other games can very nearly be impossible to work out unless you use the old "try everything with everything else" technique which gives no sense of enjoyment - just relief that you can get on with your life. The second - and the rest of them - are enjoyable, but the first will never be beaten.American hero, French heroine, British humour. Supurb.

I happened to play Broken Sword 3 before I got hold of these, but I got stuck and did not complete it. Playing these two inspired me to dash back to finish it, (and run out to buy Angel of Death), they were so entertaining. Harking back to the days where everything was 2D and game designers apparently had a sense of humour, both games are brilliant, although I feel the original is slightly better. George, the American goofball hero, is an endearing character prompted by circumstances, pretty journalists and blatant curiosity, to get involved in a whirlwind plot of murder, secret societies and exploding accordions. Hilarious.Broken Sword 2 I found to be a slightly less thrilling fill in between 1 and 3.The major flaw was the lack of excitement at the end. In the other Broken Sword installments you have to think and act quickly to prevent the villains bumping you off sharpish. Here all you had to do was solve Nico and George's separate puzzles, walk a few steps and settle back to watch the final cutscene.Nonetheless, I loved these two games and they have successfully hooked me on all present and future volumes of the Broken Sword series.

When I was younger, my brother used to own the first game of the Broken Sword franchise and I would have a go on it, completing a few levels. But then I got stuck on a certain level and I never got to finish the game. Years later, when I discovered that they were still selling these games on Amazon, I just had to get my hands on them again. The Shadow of the Templars and the Smoking Mirror are great point and click adventure games that involve solving puzzles and interacting with other characters. Set in several locations around the world, George Stobbart, an American tourist and his love interest, a French journalist named Nico Collard, solve mysteries connected with parts of history including the Knights Templars. These two Broken Sword games are really fun to play; the highlights for me are that the stories are well written and the chemistry between the two characters, George and Nico, is fantastic. I recommend these games to anyone whose interested in buying a good old game that involves adventure. But I must also say that the game is very addictive. Once you start, you can't stop until it ends.

At the price this is selling for it provides excellent value for money. Although not the best graphically by today's standards this is still an excellent game. It is a great start to the series of games, there is a great plot and it is extremely comical in parts. It is an original adventure game which is `drawn' onto the screen, which I still think is great to look at.I loved this game when I first played it many years ago and still do.

OK! Broken Sword! Who doesn't know the legendary series, but most of all the first one. The adventure game that played a significant role for the creation of a whole new school of adventure gaming, is still here. Still playable on modern windows versions and yet reminding of how it all started. Script and gameplay coherence was the key to success, that all the future developers had to keep in mind for a successful game.

Literally the best games I've ever played, I originally played them on play station several years ago and bought them as a bit of gaming nostalgia, the graphics have dated a little but these games still hold up and take a lot of beating, I never get tired of George's humour or the ingenious mix of true history and the fictional story of the games

This review is simple... the best games I have ever played!! I can play these over and over and never get bored!! I have nothing bad to say!! I will never get rid of these! You won't be disappointed! You will get attached to the characters and end up never wanting it to end. I would do anything for them to make more like these!!

I'm not one to give long decriptive speeches so I'll just say this...the Broken Sword duo are excellent games. They really make you think and some of the puzzles that you have to solve are real brain-burners. If you like your adventure games, you can't go wrong with this.

I really think the older genre games have some creativity to them. I really enjoy the style of games back then. As for broken sword I like what it has to offer and I think the game is really great. The best point and click game I will ever play i'd say!
