BENEFITS OVER OTHER BOTTLES:---------------------------------------------------The black/grey colouring hides juice well, so you don't have that slightly naff look when you put juice in a clear bottle. The silicon handle/strap is the ideal size and strong enough to clip a carabiner to - clips well on a belt if hiking, or rock climbing etc.Doesn't leak, from the seals or the lid.Really well designed, and easy to hold - the body is a plastic/silicon hybrid, that makes it tough but a bit squidgy, so you can get a really good grip on it and squeeze the water out.The lid doubles as a cup.Everything is sealed in it's own thing - only water goes in the main bit, the filter disc is very self contained, and it doesn't give off any bits.Dishwasher safe.FACTS ON THE BOTTLE----------------------------------Guaranteed BPA free (the plastics chemical that stays in the human body and has potential health risks)0.6L capacityFilter lasts 150 Litres, or 4 weeks.Bottle comes with 1 filter, and a lid. There's a big BRITA branding on the side.BRITA TECHNOLOGY------------------------------According to the website, it needs the MicroDisc (Smaller than other Fill&Go range cartridges) and it's around £25 for 6.If you're not used to BRITA filtered water, it can have a bit of a taste that needs getting used to. This bottle doesn't seem to have it - water tastes like normal, but i'ver had an experience with a BRITA kettle where the effect was really strong, and it's really strange, takes a bit of getting used to.The technology works with the disc basically being a charcoal filter (made from coconut shells). The carbon of the charcoal absorbs impurities, like metals like copper and chlorine, impurities that can be present in water from a household tap. It's not a purifier but a filter, and it does noticeably change the taste - claims also to reduce the hardness of hard water.OVERALL-------------I really like the bottle - incredibly well designed, for both function and design. But the filters just seem a bit pricey overall. The bottle itself is worth the money, its really well suited to being a sports bottle and well thought through, but the constant cost of those filters would get tedious. If you're already a BRITA fan then i'm sure it'd going to be fine, but if you're just looking for a decent sports bottle, then this one is fi

A really good water bottle, with a few minor problems which ultimately take it from an easy 5 star to a 4 (as I can't aware 4.5)... Lets cover the good, the quality, it's solidly built, the hard plastic cap pieces feel well formed, the body of the bottle, though squeezable feels good and not as though it'll break, the pull cap for direct drinking is very good too.Fitting the filter is a breeze, you unscrew the top section to insert the filter block between the topper and outer ring, then the outer ring unscrews totally as well to let you refill the bottle. The first disappointment is between the main body and the outer ring, it's a rubber hand hold loop... great when it's assembled, but as you go to remove the cap to refill you are easily lead to think it's attached, it's not and trying ti hold the slick - maybe wet - bottle body as you tilt it to refill under a tap or from a water butt it's not attached, so you struggle... This, rather annoyed me first time, as I really didn't realise it was not attached, it looked like it is, it's pressed and held down by the outer ring, but without it... poof. Can you remove the top ring to refill through it?.. Yes, but then you're running water through the filter, or worse still going to drop the filter as you try to refill. So you have to remove the outer and this was just a little bit of a let down. The second disappointment was the drinking cap, it is not a positive "click" in place, it's just sort of sloppily pressed on. Whilst running holding the bottle, or when tying the bottle onto a backpack it is going to come off, and go skittering off on the ground, not the best. Pushing it on really firmly works, but it does jog loose. And the looseness only gets worse we the top is going to age and give a little, and the rings at the top will get worn away by removing and replacing the tip drinking cap.The picture here on Amazon is a little misleading, it looks metallic, there is no metal at all, not in the body nor on the cap, it's all plastic, and the cap I received is nothing like the picture, it's very much like the body colour plastic.

If - just for a moment - you ignore that this water bottle contains a special BRITA water filter then you could regard it as simply a slightly expensive sports water bottle. It doesn't contain BPA and isn't a smelly bottle. My bottle is dark grey with blue plastic trim. It's possible to see the level of water inside because the grey plastic isn't totally opaque. But let's talk about the BRITA water filter. This is a new size, thinner and wider than previous versions of their carbon filter, and BRITA claim that it achieves a higher rate of flow of filtered water. When you're out cycling the filter makes it a little harder to suck a gulp of water into your mouth but this isn't too much of a hardship. It does mean you need to plan your drinking a little, because it'll hold you up at traffic lights for a vital second or two. This filtered water system offers you the chance to avoid single-use plastic bottles, which is a good thing, but if you're going to buy into BRITA's carbon disc system then you're not going to save such a huge amount by avoiding disposable bottled water. Right now the discs come in packs of three - with each disc lasting one month or 150 litres of filtered water. And a single disc costs £2.81 but this figure will change based on the discount your retailer offers. If there is no discount the recommended retail price works out at five quid a disc. That seems to me to be a lot of money. Finally, do you need to filter your drinking water? In the UK we are blessed with exceptionally high standards in our public water supply and there are few places where tap water will do you harm. But there are some people who dislike the taste. Personally I think you should just grin and bear it - and enjoy the water your water utility bills provides you with. But if you really don't like the taste then this filtered water system does seem like a good option.

This is a high quality product from Brita (as you'd expect) but it gets 4 stars due to a couple of niggles on the design front.Quite simply, this is a high quality plastic sports' drinks bottle with a screw open lid but one that takes a bespoke Brita carbon filter disc. Hence, you fill with tap water and drink filtered water through the spout that actually flows out quite quickly. Priming and setting up the filter is easy.I think the filtered water tastes fine and the system works well and it is certainly eco-friendly, not least of all in saving lots of throw-away plastic bottles that you might otherwise buy. The bottle is quite large and will not fit in a standard cycle bottle cage, for example. Some people might say that drinking out of plastic is not sensible but this is inert and high quality, so I have no problem with its materials. I suppose it comes down to if you want the cost and hassle of having to replace filters, though I dare say it's lot cheaper than buying plastic bottles of water.I have two niggles that I think need to be addressed in version #2.1. The bottle has a slip-on lid which doubles as a dust cover and drinking cup. However, it slips on and off very easily - it doesn't lock in away. If you try pick up the bottle at the top, this cups comes off and the bottle falls over or falls to the floor. Ditto, if you try to grip the bottle in a confined space, like your tightly-packed rucksack. I think it should have a simple bayonet lock to secure it.2. The filter disc sits above the botlte opening in a separate ring mount, concentric with the filling lid. When refilling the bottle from the tap. it is very easy to unscrew the filter housing rather than the main bottle lid. I think the filter ring housing needs a counter-thread so you don't open it unecessarily.Generally a good product that needs a bit more design thought

This Brita Fill & Go Active Water Filter Bottle arrives in a cardboard sleeve with an instruction leaflet and initial filter. The immediate impression is of a well constructed product although I personally do not like the lime colour of mine. To me, blue or white is synonymous with a water related product and the Brita brand. To get going you rinse the bottle (which is dishwasher safe), soak the filter for a minute and fit it, fill the bottle, fit the lid and you're good to go.The .6L capacity of the bottle is a good balance between size/weight and it will easily fit into a rucksack or holdall. In my case the bottle seems watertight and the supplied cup fits firmly over the drinking teat to keep it hygienic.I also like the handy rubber loop which could be used to attach the bottle to a strap or belt. To drink you pull the teat upwards, my slight problem is that I like to drink fairly large amounts quickly and I found the flow rate quite slow - I'm not sure if this is to do with the filter or the design of the bottle itself, I suppose I could try the bottle without a filter although that would defeat the object of buying a Brita bottle. I do believe the water tastes better as a result of being filtered. The Brita Microdisc filters come in packs of 8, each filter works out at around £1 and can filter up to 150 Litres, it's recommended the filter should be changed every 4 weeks. The longevity of the discs puts the "business case" for this bottle significantly ahead of buying bottles of mineral water even without factoring in the obvious environmental benefits. In summary, this is a great concept, my advice for the Mark 2 version would be to change the colours and, most importantly, improve the flow rate - if those two factors were fixed this would then be a five star product.

Which? magazine thinks it's silly to buy bottled water when you can drink tapwater for free. I come from Scotland, where the tapwater tastes just like bottled water - because it comes from the same source. Where I live in England, the tapwater is fairly hard, and is heavily chlorinated, and smells just a little bit like drinking swimming pool water. Perfectly safe, but not exactly pleasant. Note however that if I leave it to stand in a jug for half-an-hour much of the chlorine smell disappears. This filter bottle helps a bit.You fill up the bottle as normal, but there's a small carbon-granule disk in the neck of the bottle that helps to remove some of the more volatile flavours, while (allegedly)leaving other soluble minerals alone. The water seems to taste better, but that may be partly due to the water standing for a while, and the chlorine smell being trapped inside the bottle. The filter doesn't make dirty water safe to drink - it just makes clean water a bit more palatable. The filter could harbour bacteria, so in the care guide it's recommended that you put it in a cup of boiling water once per week, to kill off any nasties. The whole bottle (except the filter) can go through the dishwasher - it's best to separate the rubber seals first, to make sure they get cleaned thoroughly.I was expecting to have to suck quite hard to draw water through the filter, but actually it's quite easy. There's an air inlet below the filter, so you don't get a vacuum building up inside. The filter disks are supposed to last for about a month each (and the bottle comes with just one). Be careful not to buy the older sort of Fill & Go discs - they are the wrong size (and only last a week, not a month). I think these are the right ones: BRITA Microdisc Replacement Filter Discs - Pack of 3

I own both the fill&go Active and Vital bottles and annoyingly there are strengths in each that I wish were combined to make my perfect water bottle. With this one I like the little loop although it's not quite the perfect handle for carrying that said, I can stick a finger in it and grip the top of the bottle but it's not that comfortable to hold if dangling. Secondly I love the much taller mouthpiece compared to the Vital. It makes drinking from it a lot easier. I don't like the fact the lid isn't attached like it is on the Vital because if I'm on the go, I'm likely to drop it and in fact have stopped taking it with me which leaves the mouthpiece exposed.I like the size of the bottle though - I can easily go through 2-3 a day so even when not on the go, it's incredibly useful to help ensure I stay hydrated even at home. The filter I like the added benefit from but it doesn't last and should be replaced every 4 weeks (when used daily) so the initial cost can add up. Although it's definitely not required so you could then fill the bottle with juice rather than water if wanted. One thing I did hate when I first got the bottle was the mouthpiece was very hard to open so I would definitely recommend opening and closing it (give it a slight twist when doing so) to help make it a bit easier. I don't like that I still have to do this by hand because of germs/bacteria then getting on the mouthpiece especially when out but I also wouldn't want to use my teeth. I do find it completely leak free though but prefer the lid to be on it if it's going in my bag.Now if only it could combine an attached lid with a slightly larger hold loop and perhaps an easier way to open the mouthpiece and I'd have the perfect water bottle!

I've never used a water bottle with filter before and rarely bothered with filters in the house either, so I don't have much to compare that aspect of this bottle with. However, I use it every day and the worst I can say about it is that it's not very interesting to look at! I like the size a lot as I tend to drink a lot of water. Just before I was offered this, I had spent quite a bit on a metal water bottle (without filter) but I found it just doesn't hold enough and I am constantly having to refill it. Especially if I am at the gym, there's no point having less than a litre of water with me. The fact that this is plastic means it's relatively lightweight, even when full, and the silicone hanging loop is handy for dangling off a finger when you are on the go. The sports top means it is always accessible but also relatively secure and I can get a decent amount of water with each sip and, as other reviewers have noted, it's not noisy! The lid which functions as a cup is a nice touch, though personally I am always losing it. What has perhaps impressed me most is that, as long as I make sure the sports cap is firmly pushed down, I've had virtually no leakage with this bottle, even without the lid. I'm normally always accidentally soaking my handbag contents so this is a massive plus! I have pretty much just ignored the filter so can't really comment on it, though I do think water doesn't taste "plastic-y" from this bottle, which is quite reassuring given all the recent concern about the safety of plastic leaching into water. And even though I've been using it every day for ages, it's still like brand new (aside from that missing cap)!

This is the second of this type of bottle I have received, the first being a standard "Fill and Go" bottle which I had some trouble with, despite Brita's technical department giving me advice on how to stop it leaking, it continued to leak and I can only assume that I had received one with a faulty seal.I have used Brita products for years and really like them and this bottle is not exception. It is far better than the first bottle I received and is great for use in the gym - I particularly like it for use when I attend a spinning class, where the bottle snaps neatly into the holder on the bike, I can use the loop to pull it out of the holder and it dispenses water really quickly.Initially I had some concerns about hygiene, particularly in regards to the filter, but cleansing it with hot water once a week and washing the bottle in soapy water or in the dishwasher I feel is fine. The quality of the water dispensed is ok, where I live it is a very hard water area, close to the sea and chlorine levels are pretty high - it removes the odour/taste of chlorine better than our Brita jug filter!I have given the item a 5 star rating, hoping that it will decrease in price, particularly as combined with the cost of filters at almost £3 per month, it isn't that economical HOWEVER, I visit the gym around 15 times a month and therefore the cost is comparable in terms of purchasing bottled water from a German supermarket, without me having to stand in the queue - so on that basis and the fact that I always have water now when I train, it is a five star rating from me.

This water bottle hold 600ml and contains a filter that removes some of the less desirable ingredients of tap water, improving the taste, with possible health benefits if only encouraging one to drink more fresh water. Following instructions, I soaked the filter tab in water - the soft cap, which could also be used as a cup, if required, proved useful for this and I washed the whole bottle in hot(ish) soapy water and rinsed well before filling it with tap water. I then put the flask in the fridge, only to get cold water, but I could have started to drink it straight away. I usually add a little cider vinegar to my tap water, which is generally not overly palatable and sometimes distinctly chlorinated.Drinking straight from the flask, there was no discernible flavour to the water at all, just a clean and refreshing liquid that was rather good. The filters last for a month, which means you have to change them regularly, at a cost, although I do not know how much that is. I know from experience that, while you may start out to buy the filters, even source less expensive ones, the task of having to buy them simply gets to be more than you cam be bothered with and the jugs I have binned over the years are testimony to this. So the key to how useful this flask and filter system is will depend, in my opinion, on ease of purchase and cost. I have given four stars on the basis of this factor, since the flask is not a stand alone product; but. apart from that, it works perfectly, with a small squeeze or two on the flask body every time you take a drink.

I know I need to drink more water and so I have been taking a water bottle to work, but the water at work doesn't taste great. At home we always filter our water and have a number of Brita filter jugs (one for the fridge and one on the work surface) but there isn't one at work. This is where this bottle comes into its own. Fill it up with water from the tap and between the main bottle and the spout, there is a disc filter, giving you better tasting water straight away! I like the fact that it is a squeeze bottle, so that you propel the water through the filter, rather than sucking it, but that's just my preference! Now there are a few downsides to this bottle - obviously you have to buy new filters - these last about a month and 3 cost £12 at the moment,so it's about a pound a week. I don't see that a a negative really - it's cheaper than be buying lots of bottled water and although it is a plastic bottle, at least I am reusing it. Honestly - I look forward to having a water filter bottle that is made from something more eco-friendly, but hopefully there is one in the pipeline. The design flaws as far as I am concerned are that the carry loop is really small - enough for a finger or two, but you can't fit 4 fingers through, so then you tend to want to pick the bottle up by the body of the bottle, but then if you aren't careful, you lift by the lid, which slides off (it doesn't click into place or twist - it just sits). The lid is more annoying than the small carry loop, but both are fine once you get used to it.

Brita active so water filter bottle............A large plastic water bottle with a filter disc held in the top to filter the water as you drink it.Bottle.......The body of the bottle is made from a soft geprey plastic, it is quite soft and is easy to “squish”.The top section is a much harder plastic, it has a rubbery feeling finger hold and a softer feeling drinking “teat”.The filter is included ( only one disc to get you started) this will last you around a month and needs to be cleaned weekly to make sure that no nasties are building up on it.Replacement filter packs can be bought in packs of 3 for around eleven pounds on amazon......so that works out at around one fifty a disc/month...fourth four pounds a year- cheaper than buying bottled water and kinder to the environment too.Drinking............Drinking requires a little more suction and effort than non filtered bottles, the water does have to pass through the filter after all, but this is nothing major.A full litre bottle ( the XL size) is quite heavy as you can imagine so perhaps best for the gym rather than jogging.Build quality........I read other reviews saying that this bottle leaked...now I have really really tried to get this to leak, Ives had it lay down on its side, upside down, given it a gentle squeeze in both positions and left it on its side in the fridge and NOTHING, not a drop escapedHowever, I will still be putting it in a separate bag to any tech,as I always do with liquids and food etc.

I like this idea a lot - earlier this year I gave up sugary fruit juices and replaced them with water at every meal. I honestly could not go back to orange juice all the time now, I only have it once a day and I feel so much better for it. This water bottle was a definite requirement so I can stick it on my desk and have little sips between meals. And, best bit of all, it actually filters like those Brita filter jugs... oh, it is made by Brita. My mistake. The product comes with a cardboard sleeve, no box, and there's a plastic lid at the bottom which can be placed on the top of the water bottle while you're not using it - great for the outdoors. Mine is black and purple and it looks so sleek and smart!Setting it up is easy - wash the whole lot in the dishwasher, hang onto the little plastic packet containing the filter, and once it's all washed and dried, you simply soak the filter for a minute in the plastic cup before slotting it in the bottle and fixing it together. Then you add water and drink it. Taste-wise, it's okay. You can definitely tell it's like mineral water. The suction straw thingy is a bit hard to drink out of, but it takes some practice, hence why the bottle is so squeezy I think. I also like the use of the silicon belt loop whatsit as well. Overall, it's great, maybe not worth its' price tag (I'd go for at least half, if not a quarter of what it's being sold for!) but it's a fab motivational tool to get you drinking water!

I have quite a few water bottles ranging from cheap sports types to ones with wide necks but this is my first with an integral filter. This one has a Sports spout, small integral strap and separate cap.The supplied unknit had a body with a smoky colour and is quite soft with some slight contours for grip. At 1L it’s quite large….usually 500ml to 750ml is OK for everyday use.The filter is a small disc which inserts into the 2-piece neck. This must be soaked before fitting otherwise, as I found out, you’ll get a strange powdery taste. Replacement filters cost 26 pounds for 16 discs with each disc lasting around 4 weeks. Personally, I think that unless you’ve only got access to particularly poor water, filtration is pretty-much useless. The spout is quite stiff, I was actually concerned that I’d damage my teeth! The cap is loose; you can’t fit it on the base so you’re likely to loose it. I fact, during sports, where are you supposed to put it? When grabbing my bottle from my back I tended to accidentally pull the cap off. I think this is a design flaw for a sports-bottle.One odd characteristic is that the spout tends to squirt once you’ve finished, probably due to the small volume of water in between the filter and spout. This got me a few times but I can get used to this. This didn’t leak at all in any of my trials.Overall this is quite a nice filtered sports bottle but not the best out there.
