This is my first go around with Noise Cancelling earbuds/headphones so I really didn't know what to expect. I received the black and blue pair of QuiteComfort 20 earbuds for free from Bose as part of their Test and Review program so I thought there was no better way to give these a try.Currently I have the Bose Freestyle earbuds and have been using them for working out, yard work, and travel. They have been working great and the sound quality is excellent. I am not an audiophile by any means...but I do love my music. So needless to say I was a tad bit skeptical at trying new headphones and really didn't think these would replace my daily earbuds.Starting with the packaging, it's typical Bose.Very nice. Great looking box, earbuds are packaged very nice and secure, you just know you are opening up a nice product. Once opened and unpacked I was able to get a better idea of what I was dealing with. Since this is an "active" system, you are going to have the outside battery that you switch on and off for the noise cancellation. At first I thought this would be pretty obtrusive but I was pleasantly surprised to see what it fit right in the palm of my hand and is a really thin design. There is a nice rubbery texture to it so I didn't have to worry about it sliding around on surfaces.Once out of the package I decided to give them the try out on a trip to the gym. Today was a full body and cardio day, so a perfect "test" to see how well they would perform and how difficult and bulky they would be. The included clip works great and held the earbud wire up nicely. The battery is much smaller than the profile of my Samsung Galaxy, so after lugging that phone with me when I work out, I figured this should be easy. I was right, it really was. With the 90 degree jack the battery sat in my pocket right up against my Galaxy and I really didn't notice it was there. The wires made it a bit more tricky to get it in and out of my pocket for changing songs or moving past one that I didn't want to listed to. However, it wasn't enough that I would sideline them. If you have never used Noise Cancelling technology...prepare to be AMAZED!!! I turned the music all the way down and flipped the switch...WOW! In a busy gym the sound basically vanished. There was a small amount that you can hear...but the majority of the sound goes away. This left just me and the music to start my workout. I was so amazed I made my wife try them on. She's not amused with technology...but I can tell you one thing, we are going out to buy her a pair to work out with! She loved them. I was also able to use them with my iPod Shuffle just fine. From my understanding the difference between this and the Apple model is the ability to use them with the phones and take calls correctly from the controller on the earbud wires.During my workout I have no issues with the earbuds. They are easy to swap out size wise and they fit perfectly in your ear. The earbuds rest in your ear but give you a nice, soft seal with the upgraded (included) tips. My workout went without a hitch, the only reason I knew my headphones were in is that I spend most of the time hitting the button on the side of the volume control to turn on and off the sound cancellation. It was amazing. The included case is very nice and fits everything you need for your earbuds without taking up much space. I am able to toss them into my small gym bag with no issues. The extra bonus that I found is that I don't have to have the earbuds plugged into my phone to take advantage of the sound cancellation feature. Just pop them in your ears and turn on the battery...sound goes away. This was great for sitting in my house and doing some work that needed to get done while not being distracted by anyone. I am actually using them for that purpose while I fill out this review! Very comfortable, easy to use, great build quality, excellent sound, and great sound. Very excited to take my plane ride with them!!

Those were the first words I said after wearing the QC20 for an hour. The noise cancellation is insane. The sound is deep and rich in texture. And of course just like any other Bose earbuds, they are ridiculously comfortable. Bose graciously sent me these for free so that I can review, so after four days of use, I'd like to elaborate on each aspect of the earbuds.ACTIVE NC: Practically flawless. It transforms the world around you, and works exactly as Bose says. My favorite experience with these was on a bus ride. There was probably something loose inside the bus that caused a deep rumbling and headache-inducing rattling. While my friends were covering their ears in agony,I just plugged in the QC20 and was completely set. Even I turned Aware Mode on, the QC20 still cancelled the noise of the rumbling and most of the rattling, while allowing me to talk with my friends (with full NC, the QC20 even strongly cancels out voices)!SOUND: The QC20 doesn't have a constant sound signature, because Active EQ varies it depending on the environment around you. However it is easy to give a few characteristics of the sound. These have a very deep bass extension, and were able to play even the deepest rumbles that are hard to hear, but can only be felt. The highs are slightly rolled off, but this is with the intent to protect your ears after long periods of listening. For me, the only drawback of the sound is that although vocals come through beautifully, they don't sound extremely crisp. But that might just be due to the NC slightly interfering with the potential sound quality. I think it is also important to note that turning off the NC also turns off the Active EQ, which results in a drop in sound quality.COMFORT: Again, practically flawless. The only "flaw" is that if you have sensitive ears, or you have never experienced active noise cancellation before, wearing these with NC on might induce a slight headache for the first couple hours of use. But that's simply because the NC is so good, it is confusing to the brain.GENERAL: The design and build quality is great. I have been using the included carrying case and I see no problems of them breaking anytime soon. The battery life is just as claimed, around 16 hours. With my regular usage of one class period, a bus ride, and a few hours of listening at night, they lasted me three days before needing a charge again. And finally, if you are worrying about the dongle being annoying, it is for the first few days, but it's pretty easy to adjust to.OVERALL: Unparalleled level of noise cancellation (can cocoon you in a world of silence), great sound (powerful and clear), and virtually infinite comfort.

One headset was kindly provided by Bose USA for testing it.I own a QC3 since three years back and are very pleased with it. The QC3 always gave me relaxing flights around the globe. Now, lets see how the in-ear QC 20 is.When you open the package you see a well packed small headset which is easy to take out of the box. Inside the box is apart from the headset,a one foot long USB cable with micro USB plug to th the headset battery. A pouch to store the item is also included.Three set of ear buds in three different sizes where the mid size is installed on the headset. These mid size fit for me. If the user need theother sizes, just pull them off and install the desired size.Close by the audio plug is the battery pack. This is charged through the USB and charges quickly on standard USB outlets with 500 mA. I am usingthe USB cable on planes to charge, if needed. However the run time of the battery is about 16 hours. Usually this is ok for two long distance flights. As advantage to the QC3 the QC20 also operates with flat battery, but the sound is not this rich. When I saw the small ear plugs I was sceptical if this will work. So, plugs in the ears, plug to my Amazon Kindle, power on. Whow. The noice cancelingis great as on the QC 3. Now the music on. I am running Spotify as well as MP3s from Amazon store. The sound is clear and rich; the bass is significant, Bose typical, but not too heavy. The sound on the QC3 and QC 20 is very close together. Amazing for such small plugs. This what I did not expect and it exceeded my expetations.Underneath the ear plugs there is a switch. In this tested Android version there are two buttons. One is to stop playing, the other is called attention mode. Whats happening is, the noice caneling is suspended.Even when the noice caneling is on, voices can still be regognized even on a low volume level. So even when you use the headset you are not death, which I feel is very good. When the headset is used wind the cable up and put the headset in the supplied pouch. In this pouch is a small pocket where I store the silicone plugs in the other sizes and the USB cable. There is just one item which I purchased separately, the airline adapter. Apart from the very well made headset I missed this little item. As most users will use this headset when traveling, the adaptor should be in the box as it is with the QC3.Resumé: Amatzing headset with Bose typical rich sound and well operating noice caneling system. Runs also with battery. Just the airline adapter is missing.

So I just my headphones a week ago and did not get a chance to really use them until a few days ago. I wore them while doing some chores around the house and outside. They worked great! The sound is amazing which is as expected with any Bose product and I listened to a little bit of everything the other day. Talk Radio, music, a movie and even took a phone call while wearing them. No matter what I was doing the sound was great. The noise cancelling feature works like a charm its kinda like having a full headphone set on when you turn this on. I wore them today Thanksgiving while I made homemade ice cream and my ice cream maker is old and LOUD. Now it did not cut out the noise completely,I dont think anything could but it cut out enough that I only had the volume up about 75% which is were I usually listen to it under normal conditions. I was actually surprised now I probably shouldn't be but for an earbud to work that well I was skeptical! Now one bad thing is that the noise cancelling function can run out it has to be charged up. I wore them today for around 2-3 hours straight and no problem it did not run out and I dont think I will wear them long enough to run them out but I could see them sitting around for a little while and being out of juice. That being said they are still a great headphone without this feature turned on.My issue with these is the noise cancelling box its a small box about 1 inch by 3 inches and its placed by the headphone jack only about 2 inches away. I see this becoming a problem after a bunch of use breaking or loosening over time. In and out of pockets, catching on something, when I had it connected to my phone and was holding my phone i found it kinda awkward and I was not sure what to do with it. I think I would like it better halfway up the cord instead of on the end. I will include a picture of this. The earbuds are very comfortable to wear and even while moving all around the kitchen cooking and cleaning they did not come out nor get uncomfortable.Anyway this is getting long overall a great set of earbbuds exactly what you would expect from a Bose product and I would recommend them to anyone want a great set of earbuds!

As a member of the test&review program, I had a chance to use a pair of QC20 for almost a week and here are some notes for those who're thinking about spending $300+ on a set of noise-cancelling headphones.First of all, I find it funny that Bose did not want me to compare the QC20 against competitors. The sad reality is that in real world the biggest competitor is not made by company owned by Apple and which name also starts with a "B". The main and the only competitor is Bose's superb QC25.Unarguably, as an engineering achievement the QC20 is a mind-blowing product and kudos to those who managed to squeeze so much technology in such a tiny size. But instead of talking about everything that normal people/users don't really care,in my short review I'd like to focus on the most important aspects: Comfort and Sound quality/noise cancellation capabilities.Comfort.While the QC20 are extremely comfortable, despite all Bose's efforts, they could not make this in-ear model as comfortable as over the ear models.Sound quality/noise cancelling.Sound quality is pretty impressive. In fact, 8 out of 10 people who listened to the set, said it sounded, "EPIC!" But as someone who owns 11 pairs of headphones, I agree with those who say that for $300 one can expect a more sophisticated sound. On the other hand, the truth is that Bose offers a different listening experience (and this goes for both the QC25 and QC20). Frankly, 90% of the time, I don't mind sacrificing a fraction of the clarity for the chance to distance myself from the world and be able to enjoy music or just gain some peace and quietness. And the QC20 cancel out the noise just as good as its younger brother [the QC25].I can go on and on, telling specifically what I do or don't like about this model. But at the of the day, we need to be honest with ourselves - there is simply nothing else on the market that can offer great sound with such advanced noise cancelling technologies in such a small package.Do yourself a favor and give the QC series a shot. Chances are you won't be disappointed!

Finally! A pair of earphones that stay in my ears and have great sound, oh, and not to mention they are extremely comfortable for long hours. When working out, cleaning, working or simply relaxing I don’t have to constantly adjust them; no ear aches either. The noise cancellation is very good with extremely good battery life! I went for a few runs outside during prime traffic hours (don’t worry the sidewalk and highway are separated by trees, so I don’t have to be on high alert.). Five minutes into my run I turned on noise cancellation and was amazed how the busy world around me came to an abrupt end. Noise cancellation really focuses you into whatever task you’re doing. It’s just you, your music and your task. I even enjoyed noise cancellation without the music, despite the slight hiss you hear when music isn’t playing. Noise cancellation is so enjoyable I now can’t go to work without these earphones. Sometimes at work I sit right next to a portable A/C unit so all day I hear constant blowing. I never realized I heard that blowing until I shut on noise cancellation and voila, it was gone. Now everything isn’t perfect with these earphones. My only complaint is the battery unit. It tends to get in the way. Especially, when taking your phone in and out of your pocket. My fear is that with time the battery and cord will develop a shortage from the constant pulling and bending you take it through. Also, when I put my phone into my workout sleeve I have to take an extra few minutes to organize my phone and battery into the sleeve. This gives me the impression that Bose didn’t design these earphones for a lot of moving activity. You may want to consider an alternative if you’re really active and sweat a lot. If you don’t mind the being a little careful then you should be ok. Overall, I highly recommend these earphones. I don’t find them to be overhyped even with the steep pricing point. You definitely get what you pay for!P.S. Just as I was about to hit 'enter' and then my earphones started to have shortage.

I purchased these headphones after review of multiple products online through external review companies, and Bose came out on top for quality of noise cancellation. I was looking for a set that are light, small, and easy to travel with since I do a lot of traveling both domestic and international. Sleeping on planes is usually a requirement for me, so silence is imperative. Additionally, I work in a warehouse where there is constant noise, and was hoping they would help tamper some of the background. The portability of the item is what caused me to choose it over the bulkier, over-ear headphones offered by Bose and other companies. The product is incredibly easy to operate.I like the control buttons on the cord, which allow increase/decrease of volume, pausing, resuming play, and turning the noise cancellation on/off. I am seriously impressed!!! The headphones are comfortable in my small female ears, something that I struggle with in other earphones and ear plugs. The battery pack that works the magic is smaller and thinner than I expected, which is a nice bonus. The package also came with a sturdy, reinforced shell case to carry them in. The sound quality is clear and balanced. They're as good as any set of headphones I've owned before. What really stands out above the rest is the quality of noise cancellation. At work, I'm currently sitting in an office inside a cavernous warehouse, with air conditioners running, carts and forklift operators moving around, outside music playing, a portable heater running, and I'm typing on my keyboard. And all I can hear is my music, clear and plentiful in my ears. Bose, you do not disappoint. I can't wait to try these on my next flight!

I was given these headphones as a gift over the summer. I ride a Kawasaki Ninja as my main source of transportation. Oftentimes I've been rained on with these in my ears. They never stop working. I'm not saying their water proof, but they've definitely taken my rough lifestyle. Though not without showing wear, the material around the rechargeable battery started to peel off, though I know its because they've gotten wet so many times.I recently lost the tips, and called in to see how I could buy more. I informed the representative that my friend also got me Apple ones instead of Samsung, as I have Samsung. They're not only sending me an entirely new pair, new tips and everything, they're sending me the correct Samsung version. Rest assured, Bose will take care of you.As to performance, once I turn on that noise reduction switch, I am in an entirely different world. I have definitely angered off my boss at work more than once because I cannot hear her banging on the door for me to let her into the bakery, despite standing right next to the door. That's just the thing though, I don't like hearing her. During study time here at VT I can turn the volume down slightly so as to not distract me, turn on the noise reduction, and be fully engrossed in my work. They include a different range of sizes for the tips, and I have ran with them without a singly issue. They stay in my ears and are extremely comfortable. Unlike other in ear headphones, they do not start to hurt after a long period of use. Speaking of which I never am disappointing with battery life. If they do happen to run out, a short charge will last you a very long time. These headphones will not disappoint you.

These headphones are above and beyond the Soundsports I currently have, and those sound great. The best thing about the earbuds is that I don't notice them being in my ear. When I went for my usual walk after work I found that they're so snug that they don't become loose when I go walking at the park.As for the noise-cancelling, when you flip the switch, it's as if your ear immediately goes into it's own studio. All of a sudden the only thing you hear is what matters, the music. The outside world immediately goes away, be it if you're outside, inside, or in your car. Actually they're so good that if you're using them in the car you won't ever have to worry about road noise again. Now to the sound.I have Bose for all my audio needs, and even I was surprised at how clean and crisp the music is now that it's not having to compete with outside noise (people talking, cars, etc.). Because you're not competing with other sounds, I was able to hear the little sounds I already heard with my other earbuds with even more clarity. It is like hearing the music new again with an even greater appreciation and pleasure for it. I understand more than ever the difference between someone who likes music and an audiophile, and now I feel more like the latter than ever.As for the battery, it fits perfectly behind my phone as it lays sleek when I have it in my shirt or track jacket pocket. It does seem a bit cumbersome and bulky when moving around with it in my hands around the house or office though, but that's a price worth paying when you want the best sound you can get, and from these earbuds, the sound is second to none.Note: I received these free from Bose.

I just got a pair of Bose QC20 and tested them right away on a 10 hour flight. The noise cancelling is quite good. Most engine noise is cancelled and instead you hear very quiet white noise. However, (loud) talking and non-monotonous noise is not cancelled, but can then be heard clearer, since the otherwise drowning plane noise is cancelled out. However, I have two negative experiences:1) I wanted to charge the headphones during the flight, but when plugging the USB charger into the USB port on the plane, there was this pretty loud humming sound. That was no good. Luckily the headphones were charged enough to last for two movies.2) During the flight I noticed, that pressing the volume buttons had no effect on the level of loudness. Once landed, I also tried turning the volume up and down while having the headphones plugged into my Android smartphone (Google LG Nexus 4) as well as my laptop (Lenovo thinkpad). Still, there was no change in volume. Though, I was a bit intrigued when purchasing the headphones, as it says 'for Samsung Galaxy' on the box. When asking the shop clerk, he said, it means all Android devices. Chances are, that the Nexus is "too old"...?I wonder, if this is normal, or if the pair of headphones i grabbed are defective...Anyways, compared to my previous pair of noise cancelling headphones from Panasonic, the Bose QC20 are way better. Actually, there is no point in trying to compare the two as they are from two different worlds.

I purchased these primarily for air travel. I don't only fly on the normal airline aircraft, some of which can be very noisy themselves, but also regularly fly on military aircraft (such as the C-17 Globemaster III and the LC-130 Hercules). While the technology to completely muffle/eliminate these beasts' engines noise isn't available, the Bose QC20 earbuds make the experience much nicer (and healthier). In the past, I either had to use in-ear plugs and forego listening to music or movies, or use regular earbuds and wear over-the-ear hearing protection - neither of which was ideal. The batteries last long enough for pretty much any trip - and can be quickly recharged from any USB power source.I carry a portable USB charger to top off my phone, tablet, headphones, etc.If I had one complaint, it would be that the airline headphone adapter is a separate purchase - for the price of this device, that should be an included accessory.Another non-complaint suggestion is regarding the location of the "brick" that holds the electronics - it's at the plug end of the cord, with a very short cord leading to the headphone plug. Having this closer to where the wires split to go to each 'bud would make the experience more comfortable. All of this being said, I would purchase these again without hesitation. I recommend them to all of my friends and colleagues, and I'm about to purchase another set for my girlfriend to use while traveling the same routes I do.

I have owned probably 10-15 sets of headphones for various uses. I never had such a great head phones (QC20 - the old model where the controller has only one play/call control button in addition to the 'aware" button). The new one seems to have three buttons which is even better (when used with Samsung and other select phones).I also own Quiet Comfort 25 (the over-the-ear noise cancelling head phones) which I used to use everywhere (esp. planes) until I bought these in-ear ones. The performance of these ear-phones is in-line if not better compared to its bigger sibling. Sounds quality is great and you will hear every and all parts of the music even on the road.My only complaint with these ear phones is with the ease of use (only the battery part). The battery controller is so close to the headphone jack that it comes out of the phone everytime I take it out of my pocket (casuals, don't even want to talk about jeans). I wish it was made smaller and perhaps different material so that it is not so "sticky" to everything it touches. That may ease the pain a little.Still I doubt there is any parallel to these ear phones in other brands despite all the flashy colors, amplified lower frequencies (where your drums take a beating) etc. Highly recommend these phones.

Bought these to allow me to work in peace in a busy office. And when other reviews talk about turning on noise-cancelling and getting silence, they are not exaggerating. They are bloody brilliant. Working in the office is heaven, flights and public transport are no longer a riot on the sense. Calm has descended. My only issue is that I have now had my set for just less than 2 years (this may be a record). I have used Sugru to support all weak points and they have withstood daily usage brilliantly. However, to remove an ear bud I hold the cable below the ear bud and pull it out and I think this is what resulted in violent whistling in that ear bud during removal because some wiring has been loosened.Today the ear bud (the body not the wing tip) fell open and whined continuously. I make have killed it finally. The ear buds (via the wing tips) stay in my ears really well, and rarely need adjusting. This means they can be difficult to take out, hence my use of the cable to pull them out. But this has weakened the wiring. So, let that be a lesson to you. If you love your Quiet Comfort ear buds, don't use the cable to take them out and they will last for years.

I bought these almost a month ago. I have been very happy with them in regards to noise cancelling power. I am a truck driver and there is lots of noise the cab and sleeper so using these earbuds really helps cut down noise levels. I even use them sleeping while in the truck. I have been sleeping a whole lot better as a result. I clip it to my shirt collar then run the wire down inside my shirt and put the battery end in my pocket. There are cons. First of all, I do not like 90 degree plug, I wish they made it with a straight plug. Secondly, the audio quality for calls on other end is poor. People often complain they cannot hear me, there too much background noise or I sound like I am talking through a tunnel. This only seems to be when I am in a noisy environment.I gave 3 stars on ease of use because it's hard to tell which bud is right or left. Would be nice I'd they were colored or marked differently. Secondly, the cord has a sticky silicone feel to it which makes it a little hard to untangle the wire. If the wire had a more silky smooth feel, the wire would be much easier to untangle and it would not hang up so much on my clothes.

I am getting ready to buy my third set of these, and it's because I use them so much I wear them out. Both previous sets lasted over a year and I wear them every single day, for up to 8 hours a day. The quality is unbeatable, and I put them through the gamut of hard use out on my farm. I live in an extremely quiet country setting, so when I don't want to use noise cancellation, I can turn it off and hear pure silence in the background, unlike the noisy wind sound that comes with the wireless set when you turn off noise cancellation (I had to return those). When I travel, the noise cancellation is unbeatable for helping me sleep on overnight flights, and the batteries have lasted on 14-hour flights. When I'm at home I use my Bose earbuds for hearing protection when I'm running the gas-powered weed eater or the lawnmower, and I binge podcasts, get the latest news, and tear through novels while getting work done. A down side is the wire, which catches on everything. I can't recommend them enough other than to say that each time I accidentally destroy them or wear them out, I count the days till I get the new ones. Worth every cent.
