This is a little detail sander that is perfect for doing small jobs and getting into those hard-to-reach places that a regular orbital sander just can't go.It comes in a handy re-closable carry case and includes all you need to get started: There's the unit itself, with the battery already inserted. There's a USB-C charging cable (no wall wart, but any mobile phone charger will do). It comes with 6 sanding pads of various grades. There are 2 each of 80, 120 & 240 grit. There's also a rubbery container for catching dust. So, the first thing to do is charge the unit up to max power. There's a little LED that shows it's charging and shows what state of charge the unit is in. Red for low, orange for medium and green for high. It charges quite quickly, for me it took about 30 mins to go from orange to fully charged, so I would estimate around an hour from completely depleted to completely full. The unit is incredibly tiny. It's about the size of a Braun rotary shaver, but weighs a tiny bit more. If feels quite good in the hand and the on-off button is where the thumb would naturally press. The sanding pad attaches onto the head of the unit via some industrial strength velcro. The back of the sanding pad has a kind of cotton finish - so I guess you'll have to go with either branded sanding pads or after-market copies, although I don't know if any of these are available. I'll probably go with the Bosch brand, as the quality of the sandpaper is really good and I've still got plenty of sanding left in the first 80-grit pad I used to achieve the results I got in my photos. So, the first thing I noticed when using this unit is the amount of power in the little thing. It feels almost as good as the rotary sander I own. The shape of the sanding head is perfect for getting into the edge of things, and being able to angle the head a little is good for getting underneath stubborn paint that would take ages on an orbital. It's actually quite good for getting started on hard to remove paint that's got loads of layers - once you get going on it, you can get your scraper in to lift the paint off.Its light weight is great for reaching up as well, where a regular main sander would start to make your arms tremble after a couple of minutes. So, the results in the pictures took me about 30 mins. I used a little loose paper to get the flakey stuff off, then a scaper to go a little deeper and then used the sander/scraper combo for the rest. I think I got a really good job done in quite a short space of time. The unit is around £90 with the battery. Yes, it's quite expensive, but the battery lasts for over an hour of constant use, which is around a whole window sill in my case, and the 80-grit pad got the job done, in combination with some other orbital sander work. I've got some other internal work, where I'll be sanding back some wood around internal glass doors, and it's going to be amazing for that - I'm actually looking forward to the cathartic pleasure of tidying it up with this little device.Would I recommend it? Certainly. I've always had good use out of Bosch tools - found them to be long-lived, with spares available for them for years to come as well, which is always the killer if you buy cheap DIY tools. You can buy spare batteries for these - I can't imagine I'll need another, as I probably wouldn't use this for a massive job, as it's a detail sander, but it's good to know that I can get them if I need them.

Exactly as currently pictured in the stock images & short video above, this is a small, cordless sander that weighs around 350 g in hand for those more lightweight jobs, but is powerful enough to sand wood, plaster & metal. The sander comes partially charged but the manual states to fully charge before first use. This took around 20 minutes, in my case.In use it is a bit noisier than I expected, so ear protectors might be useful for those with sensitivity in this area, as the noise can get to 80dB, according to the manual. With new vinyl flooring being laid, which was thicker than the old stuff, we had a need to sand just a millimetre or so off from the bottom of a trio of doors and this sander did the job very well.On full charge, there is around 30 minutes sanding time, in my experience so far.I was sceptical at first on how secure the sanding paper would be on the rigid plastic-type plate, as it uses an interesting velcro-like, ‘hook-and-loop’ fastening system, with the sandpaper just firmly pushed onto the sander. However, this stayed securely in place and was simple to remove and replace with the finer grade for finishing off.The plate and sandpaper are triangular with curved edges so look as though they could get right into corners if required. The pack I received contained 2 sheets each of 3 grades of sanding paper with grit size of 80, 120 and 240, for coarse, medium & fine sanding respectively. I used the 80 at first, then finished off with the 240.It took around 4-5 minutes for each door and was all easily tidied back into its quality carry box, ready for the next time.ooOoo~ BOSCH~ YOUseries~ CORDLESS DRY SANDER‘Made in Hungary’COLOUR : BLACK & BEIGE, with WHITE lettering for the brandingooOooThe neatly shaped sander comes with the battery already in situ and is presented in a BOSCH branded, quality, rigid plastic-type, hinged case, measuring around 22 cm square with rounded edges & corners x 8.5 cm deep, with a retractable carry handle. The case opens by pushing in firmly on the light grey coloured area. The set comes complete with a chunky (400+ pages) multi-lingual USE & SAFETY MANUAL, but only around 13 pages are relevant. The indented ON/OFF SWITCH on the sander is a good size at around 2 cm square and requires pushing to start & finish.A flap opens on the rubberised end of the handle to charge. The included USB-C™ ~ USB-A CABLE is generous in length at around 1 m overall, with the motion sensor/light indicator showing the approximate level of charge as per the card insert supplied (last image below refers), i.e.:~ GREEN = 100%~ AMBER = 50%~ SOLID RED = 20%~ FLASHING RED = 5%The sander cannot be used when charging.[17 images attached](11/07/19)

The very thought of sanding brings me out in goosebumps as I remember the tortuous process I had to endure last year as I sanded down my bathroom, in preparation of painting. I have to admit that manual labour is not something I do on a daily basis and so, it was fairly sore on the arms but I also found that I wasn't getting good enough results as when I started to apply the new paint, loads more strips of the old paint started to peel off, leaving a very uneven finish. On that basis, this sander will be a real labour saving device.Whilst it doesn't feel the most robust i.e. the plastic flexes quite a bit when held, it does seem to be able to withstand quite a bit of abuse and I guess that is always more important (results over perception every time). It is also very easy to use, as the only control is the on/off button and the only preparation which needs to be done is to select the correct sandpaper. With some other electronic sanders I have experienced, the sandpaper needed to be stuck onto the sander, which left very little flexibility in its use, as the choice was then to either continue to use the same sandpaper until it was worn out, or destroy the sandpaper by ripping it off. With this sander, the sandpaper is held in place with a Velcro like system, meaning that each piece of sandpaper can be taken off and reused, as appropriate. Having said that, it does mean that you need to purchase dedicated sandpaper, but fortunately, these aren't that expensive (around £5 for 6 sheets). The sandpaper comes in three different forms, being (seemingly) two each of 80 Grit, 120 Grit and 240 Grit. However, I can't actually be sure on this point because whilst the Grit is printed on the back of the sandpaper, this only works in theory. In practice, it doesn't work so well because the sandpaper is clearly cut from much larger sheets but the Grit isn't printed with sufficient regularity, meaning that it is entirely possible to get one (or more) with no Grit printed on the back. In fact, three out of the six I have were like this and so it is impossible to tell what purpose they have. The sander does produce very good and consistent results however, it is very noisy. The manual states that this shouldn't exceed 80dB (and only be 70dB on normal working) however, if it is being used for prolonged periods of time, the noise does become a bit tiresome. Accordingly, I'd recommend using it is short bursts only.In summary, this is a great labour saving device, which produces clean and consistent results. It is also very easy to use however, there are a few niggles (such as the sandpaper description and the noise) which prevented me giving it the full five stars.

Before you click that ‘Buy’ button you’d better check the current price of sandpaper sheets for this Bosch YOUseries Sander because at the time of writing they’re ridiculously overpriced. Of course you can cut your own from bigger sheets using the sander plate as a template but you’ll have to source the type that have a fluffy backing that affixes to the textured plate - using the same principle as Velcro. That shocking ripoff aside it’s a really useful and capable little sander especially if you’re regularly doing renovation or finishing on intricate pieces of furniture or fixtures. The little pointy soleplate gets into corners and edges really well and there’s enough kinetic energy buzzing inside it to really make a decent job of sanding down surfaces. The sander itself is small and agile too, it feels solidly made without being overly heavy and the angle shape sits well in your hand. You only get one speed and a simple on/off switch and it’s actually more powerful than you might expect give then diminutive size. You wouldn’t particularly want to be sanding large open areas, it would take too long and getting an even level finish would be challenging, better an orbital sander with a bigger soleplate. However for spot repairing or working on smaller areas it’s great and a real boon. You get a decent amount of time, maybe just over an hour, before needing to recharge the battery and there’s a USB-micro cable in the box to do that but be aware there’s no mains charger supplied, but you can use any standard USB one. It comes with an odd but useful case that’s far too big for the sander and has a sort of flexible rubbery insert, like a bellows, that squeezes against the sander and keeps it in place. I think the idea is you can store more than just the sander in there and use the insert keep things from rattling around. Or maybe I just missed something.I have no problem with the sander and its case or the current price, it’s a powerful and practical little titan that would be useful in any woodworker’s toolbox. However unless you can replace the sandpaper sheets regularly without needing a bank loan it’s useless. Hopefully Bosch will either rethink their pricing or a third-party supplier with supply something more reasonable. I’d give the sander 5 stars but the sandpaper gouging is unforgivable.

Supplied in a wonderful black impact moulded plastic box, this sander is more like a large shaver than a sander. With its built in Li-ion battery you simply plug this into a USB-A socket on any charger or 13A socket that has a built in USB-socket to recharge, and because it charges quickly there is no need to leave it overnight. It feel great in the hand - balanced and stable, with a superb grip. The end plate is triangular in shape and it comes with a pack of sand sheets that are the exact shape of the head, so simply buy the Bosch sheets each time that you need them (you can buy these on amazon - (search YOU series Sander). The idea of the shape of the head means that you can get into the most difficult corners and sand around awkward shapes, yet delivering a smooth finish every time. Because it is rechargeable, you do not need a mains lead and so have much greater freedom in delivering that smooth finish to wood wherever it is.I find that the shape of the head really helps in achieving a good finish and the motor has plenty of power for even the tougher jobs. The shape of the product enables you to put enough force on the sanding head as well, so this has been really well thought out. When I look at my old sander (7 or 8 years old) I realise just how much these products have come on in the last decade and this one is seriously better for the type of work that I do, so I am thrilled to bits with it and cannot recommend it highly enough!!!

If like me you were looking for tools that are compact but powerful enough to manage your personal home projects then the Bosch YOU series is perfect for you. It comes in a hardened plastic case, simple and effective. In the box you have the sander, spare sandpaper and a charging cable (USB-C) type (RECOMMENDED PLUG NOT INCLUDED IN THE BOX). Its got a fast charge and its packing a motion sensor YOU battery, when you pick the sander up the colour led on the battery indicates how much charge you have left which is pretty handy. The sander is very compact but does the Job well, I used it to strip paint from a door frame with ease and took a couple of (mm) off where needed as my door had been sticking. Its shape and weight made it easy to work with and quite fun. I have also used it strip flaking paint off my kitchen walls before I repainted them and it was perfect for smoothing off bits of rough plaster. There is a lot of versatility in this tool and I cant wait to see what else it can do. With great engineering from Bosch tools this series is perfect for those home DIY projects while not taking up huge space when in storage.Key feature Summary:.Light, Compact and convenient.Easy to use, fits into the palm of your hand.Hugely versatile, packs enough punch for those DIY tasks.Good battery life

You can usually choose a corded sanding machine for about £25, or go wireless for anything from £35. Ryobi sell a wireless palm sanding machine for £36 on Amazon. So what do Bosch give you for £90?You get a sanding machine, a carry box, some sand paper, and a USB-C cable. The sander is actually very easy and intuitive to use, even for those who really do not like the very idea of doing the household repairs or improvements themselves. The sand paper just sticks on to the base of the sanding machine. And of you go. Being cordless is such an improvement as you can reduce the set up time of getting everything in place and using an extension cord and making sure nobody trips over all the wires.Thelithium ion battery can be charged up in a few hours and will last for the twenty minutes that I need it for.The You series has inter-changeable batteries. So if you buy another machine from the Bosch range you can swop out the batteries so you can keep going for twice as long. Keep one charging and use the other. So far the series has a hand vacuum cleaner, and a drill.A great sander but pretty darned expensive. Then again Bosch machines are usually built to last.

First of all I like how small and light this is without compromising on power. Visually it makes quite a fashion statement and not what one expects from a power tool, can only be charged via the USB cable that is included. The battery included will be interchangeable with other Bosch tools from the same range. If fits perfectly into an adult hand where the thumb can easily switch power button on or off. So far I have used mine on wooden shelves and was able to reach right into the corners, for a battery operated tool I was happy with the results. On the negative side this only comes with a fixed triangular head , Bosch could have made this detachable to enable other shaped heads. For this reason I have given four stars rather than five. Another minor issue is I would have preferred a moulded case so that the tool stays snugly in place, the USB cable sits around a rubber moulded circular holder that I found fiddly to fix into position. In my opinion this is more suited to a DIYer than a professional.

The YOUseries from Bosch has really impressed me so far - they are lightweight and compact, but have good power given the size and that they are battery powered. The sander papers are easy to fit - they have a surface that I can only describe as similar to velcro on the underside, so they just come on and off really simply. The battery uses USB-C cables, so it's fast to charge - it can be used with the other tools in the range too, so you can rotate two for constant use if you own others. You get a pack of 6 sandpaper heads included in the case. I will post some pictures of it in use - the light weight is such a boon.Really impressed with it - well made, and a lovely design; it will appeal to both sexes as it makes jobs that bit less demanding to do.

I'm very happy with this sander, it's very easy to hold and manoeuvre, the sanding paper is very easy to apply, and getting into small areas is a breeze with this powerful but modestly sized sander!I love how easy it is to use, it's not for large jobs a kitchen cabinet door is the biggest project I would tackle with this, but for sanding a chair for a hobbyist this is ideal!Comes in a nifty little case too!My only reservation is the charging via USB C format, this seems wholely pointless to me! A standard mains charger makes far more sense for a tool! That said the charging is pretty quick and efficient!I think this makes the perfect gift for a hobbyist or an artist who likes to fiddle withtheir own frames!

This is so handy because it's cordless and it charges using a USB cable. The rounded triangular shape of the sanding head lets you get right into the corners and it made light work of the repair to the front of my office window ledge (see pictures). It was a hot day and I didn't break into a sweat like I usually do with a sanding block and plenty of elbow grease! The sander does all the work and it was particularly easy running it all over the paintwork to get a matt finish ready for undercoat and then gloss ('key' as I think decorators call it).I am only deducting one star because the original Bosh sand paper to fit this sander is expensive.I found similar size pads available on Amazon for a tenth of the price.

This is a great little sander which I am using for my portable sander, and when I need small touch-ups. It's lightweight and portable with a rechargeable battery, and the results are so much better than I thought they would be. It's not very loud when in use, but you couldn't use it while the kids are in bed. It's very easy to use, just stick on the pre-cut sandpaper and flick the switch, it's that easy. The handy triangular sandpaper means you can get into corners that you might not have been able to access before. All in all, its a very impressive sander.

Found this quite easy to use, it is small but for use in an awkward space is pretty useful. I have a wooden trim on top of safety glass outside a window, which was flaking and in need of repainting. This little sander was ideal for the job being light and small. It's not the most powerful but did let me sand the flaking paint off and prepare the wood even where there was very little space. I wouldn't recommend it for big jobs but for small furniture it would be fine, and is useable by the rank amateur(me).

8.8.2019

Over-priced for what it is. The worst thing about it is that the tip is fixed so you're stuck with that triangle sander head. I think just for environmental reasons, they should have made it so it's possible to change heads.Other than that, it's an effective tool. It's light and comfortable to use and we can get into all the cornices and corners of mouldings.Happy with this but worth comparing with other brands to check for detachable heads if you want more versatility from your sander.

Excellent addition to the Bosch range of DIY tools, this mini-sander. It's lightweight, and being cordless, is really handy for getting into inaccessible areas. I have a bedroom door that occasionally sticks, and after a few passes with this sander, now opens and shuts freely. The sander holds its charge well, and is also lightweight, but powerful with it. It has a neat little carrying / storage case, too. Excellent product, highly recommended, and price-wise, it's good, too.
