I decided to leave this a few months before I rated it, to ensure that it's sturdy enough. As it's a bit of a "fashion" (albeit at the cheap end) item and these aren't always known for their longevity it seemed sensible.>> Ok, so the good - It works perfectly, utterly functional. After a few months the metal filter is still sufficient to properly filter even the very fine ground coffee that lines the shelves of supermarkets.Obviously the coarser the grounds, the easier it filters, but even the cheap stuff (Tescos value! :P) works fine. When you open it, the glass jug has a red Bodum sticker affixed (not in the photo) with safety instructions, pyrex logo etc..,which unless you deliberately peel it off will stay firmly affixed after months of use and washing.I've found that this actually doubles-up as a handy guide so you can pour your hot water at a glance, and you quickly figure out that for 2x cups you pour to "this" line, and for 3x, "that" line, etc..Seems silly but bleary-eyed in the morning it helps almost as much as the lines on a measuring-jug.The plunger mechanism is basically plastic, hard enough wearing but don't just ram it down because it would be possible to cause wear if you're particularly careless, since the metal rod pushes down through the plastic lid. Then again, if you plunge too hard & fast, or at an angle on one of these, you end up with gritty coffee so just by using it properly you won't be riding it too hard.>> The bad. The pyrex jug is pretty thin - I've accidentally clonked it against the kitchen tap a few times while washing, but I have no doubt it would smash were I to drop it on a hard floor. So too, the thin glass means that if you make yourself 2x cups, the coffee will remain hot inside the jug just long enough to drink the first one in a reasonable time & allow you to drink the second, but it won't keep hot in the jug for longer than say, 20 minutes without some kind of insulating cosy. Also, the plastic frame that surrounds the jug is very hard bordering on impossible to remove. Unless I broke the jug I'd never risk taking the green frame off lest I accidentally break the glass, so this means that after a while you end up with little bits of coffee stuck between the plastic and the glass. Not enough to look bad, and not at all unsanitary, but it just irks slightly that it appears to be removable, but is fitted so tight you daren't remove it.To be honest though, that's such a minor issue as to be not worth worrying about, I include it just so anyone looking at this pot knows not to expect to be popping the glass out.All in all, a very nice little pot, I use it at least daily and normally I just give it a rinse with hot water between uses & let it drip-dry.

The cafetière is sturdy and robust.I was looking for a nice colour to brighten up an otherwise dreary student flat. Green, being my favourite colour, it seemed the best choice.I have made a few cups of coffee with it, and one thing I will say is the mesh in the filter is excellent when I compare with a previous and cheaper cafetière I had. The glass is perfect and it comes with a plastic coffee spoon, to ensure I get that strong bitter taste I'm after first thing,The only downside I can take from the product is the handle's connection to the glass. It protrudes over the top of the cafetière, which can be an annoyance as you have to negotiate past it in order to get the plunger in.Though, all around a brilliant product. Bodum know what they're doing and you are paying for the quality here. It may not be a cheap one from a supermarket, but trust me you're getting your money's worth.

Not sure i'd agree with the description that it's a 3-Cup coffee maker (unless your coffee cups are espresso sized!), but this dinky little French Press will just about fill one generous mug with your favourite coffee! The design is fun and funky, the red perfectly matches the rest of my kitchen and the materials are sturdy - it's already survived being dropped from the work surface (thankfully while empty!), and the press mechanism can resist even the most jittery hands in a pre-caffeine morning routine!Goes through the dishwasher with no issues whatsoever and still looks as good as the day it came out of the box!Excellent quality, but then I wouldn't expect anything less from Bodum.

Very well made and came in days I was a little worried after I paid for it in some local shops other brands of these are selling for £6.00 to £8.00But on arrival & removing it from the well packed package the quality is so much better from cheaper ones I looked at in stores. Its so well made & delightful to look at I would say its remarkably small though! And yes I knew I wanted the 3 cup one but make no mistake its THREE SMALL COFFEE CUPS you get or one mug!Nevertheless I am delighted and so pleased I bought this one great people too & it comes with a free coffee spoon could you want more?

bought this for my picky husband who had demanded a new coffee maker for christmas. wanted something a little different, but of quality, hence why i choose bodum. love the colour and design. very well made, solid. makes good coffee and easy to use and clean. only thing i would say is i think you need to use more than one scoop of coffee despite what the instruction with the coffee maker may say!Good purchase, would highly recommend. obviously only time will tell if this product will stand the test of time. husband seems happy with his present. No negative comments anyway!

Admittedly you pay slightly over the odds for this cafetiere compared to ones you might find in a supermarket or cheap shop. Basically what you're paying for is an attractive design and a fun colour. The glass jug is importantly held firmly in place, unlike cheaper cafetieres where the glass has a nasty habit of slipping out the frame when you hold it upside down for cleaning.Another nice touch is the grille/filter always faces the right direction. Again, with some cheaper designs you have to align the grille with the pouring spout.

This cafetiere is the ideal size for one person or for two people using normal size cups. It is sturdy and well worth the money as the actual 'press' part is well made and you don't get grains straying through as you can with less well made ones. if you follow the instructions given, i.e. stirring the brew and leaving it for four minutes before plunging, then you get a 'crema' top, the sort of froth associated with espresso. All in all a very good buy: good size and does a great job of making a lovely cup of coffee.

On recent purchase of the 3 cup one from John Lewis I realised that 3 cups must be like expresso cups and if you are like me and like your coffee it will only make you 1 regular size mug of coffee with a dribble leftover; therefore not very good if you have guests. So on my return of the item to John Lewis I noticed they had the 8 cup size but out of stock in red. Luckily this worked in my favour because on here it is £10 cheaper so I am very happy that I have got the one I wanted and at a bargain price. Thanks

Love this it is what it says. Very easy to use if you take your time. I like to ground my own beans so have to leave them quite course for this maker. Plenty of ground coffee on the market instead. Use slowly as instructed and it's easy to use, makes a lovely few cups of coffee. Only down side is coffee doesn't stay very hot for long as the lid doesn't seal in the heat, put a tea towel over the pot and this did help. Glass is sturdy and the plastic is good quality, nice sturdy handle.

This was my ideal replacement for my cracked and leaking cafetiere.I chose Bodum this time, as I already have a large Bodum cafetiere, and wanted to match up with a small one, and one that replaceable parts could be possible. Our small cafetiere travels with us on holidays, and is so easy to make coffee, several cups, just make it stronger, and then dilute in the mug/cup!Lovely quality, and a very simple design.Worth paying that bit extra.

I find these small coffee presses excellent for a faff-free good cup of coffee and the Bodum presses are of a nice modern design. The only downside I have found is that the glass is fairly fragile and after a long period of use can easily break. I believe it is possible to replace the glass only, but I find it easier just to replace the whole thing if this happens. They are quite reasonably priced, so cost per brew is small.

For the price this is excellent. You have to clean it after every use otherwise it easily stains. All the metal work easily un-screws from the stem and the glass clips off the main housing easily. When dismantled for cleaning you have 3 metal pieces (filter parts), top with stem, glass pot and plastic housing. I have the cream version and it is imperative it is cleaning immediately after use to stop stains.

None of this type of coffee press is particularly sturdy. This is my second one and seems to be holding up well. It's also very attractive and matches the big one I bought for family coffees. I got fed up with faffing about with sophisticated coffee machines and find this is the easiest way to enjoy a single brew. It's been in the dishwasher most days with no ill effects!

After years of using the similar type of coffee pots from cheaper shops I finally became sick of removing coffee granules from my coffee and opted for this. Yes its a little more expensive but it works, filters the coffee perfectly with no floating granules :) And the funky colours make it stylish too!

Bought as a present for my son, who already has a single classic Bodum but wanted a larger one for when he is entertaining. Another great Bodum design which works perfectly to deliver great coffee. It may make 8 small cups, but if like me you drink your coffee in a mug, it manages three. Recommended.
