Love this seat, was the biggest pain to build but if you YouTube it there’s tutorials which are a lot clearer than the instructions. Now I’m used to it I can change it from my bike to my brothers bike quickly and easily which we often do as my brother likes to take him for bike rides on his electric bike.Building was honestly the only down side. It’s perfect as a lot of seats didnt fit my heritage step through bike, also my seat is as low down as it can go as I’m only 5”2 which hinders the fit of a lot of other seats. This one it doesn’t matter, fits perfect with my seat right down. Can be fitted with or without a pannier rack, one of the things I was worried about since my bike had one fitted when bought but if anything it helps stabilise his weight. My son is 4 but big for his age in size 6-7 clothes so was also a struggle to find a seat he wouldn’t grow out of quickly, some of the children’s seats are 0-3y which isn’t ideal so I’m pleased this one is for bigger sized children. It’s sturdy, has growing room For the next couple of years, he can ride his own bike but not good on long cycles. The wheel guards and foot pedals stop him from putting his feet through the wheels and causing an accident or him to injure himself, there are hooks at the back so you can add extra straps for stability and safety. I bought the red kite harness and reigns from Asda (£5) just for a bit more stability for him, the lap seat belt was secure enough but the added harness just keeps him in place and stops him leaning forward. The fold down option is perfect as the intended purpose was to cycle him to nursery on my way to uni so I can lock my bike up and fold down the seat discreetly without storage being an issue and allows me to use it as pannier rack when he’s not on the back. It has rubber bits around fittings to stop and scratches on bike (I still scratched mine but that was my own fault with the initial instillation, if you’re more handy with tools shouldn’t be an issue). All in all, very happy with the purchase. Good price compared to other children’s seats which don’t go upto his age rage, or cheaper seats that have less safety features like wheel guards and seatbelts. Honestly the wheel guards and pedals have been a saving grace as my son is a normal 4 year old and doesn’t like to listen with things like that. He definitely would have put his foot through the wheel spokes if it wasn’t for the guards! Highly recommend

Bought this for my 8 year old simply to save money picking her up from school as there is lots of cycle path leading right there. ( I cant carry her own bike.) Iv'e now been testing it for about 2 weeks. Great stuff. It needs no basket carrier as one woman said in the questions above. My daughter is 4 stone and has been fine and not slipped. To be extra safe, iv'e bought those plumbing clamps that you get from B&q for about 65p and put a bit of rubber from normal plastic bike light clamps inside and attached just 10mm below as a safety measure. That way I can see if the original clamps are slipping without risking anything.I cant see why my daughter would need the safety guards as her legs are way to long for them to be of any use.I think they are meant for younger kids as my 8 year old has no problem keeping her feet on the pedals and knowing that she cant let her feet come off them. One thing to remember is always fasten the belt even when your child is not on the bike. I have twice started to cycle with belt undone and its jammed into my gears. Now its all frayed, but that I suppose is my fault. Finally, when you are putting it together, its much easier to watch the Youtube video of a guy doing it. Its not official, but its good and the instructions are a waste of time.UPDATE 11/05/17Been a few weeks now, and I will have to amend my review. The seat has started to slope backwards. The clamps have not slipped, as I marked them with a piece of tape and had the extra clamps on. I think something is bending and I don't know what it is. Anyway, I've now fitted a bike pannier which the seat is about 1 cm off. When we go out, I just fit a little piece of sponge underneath to stop the seat banging on the pannier when we go over bumps, but I can now rest in peace and enjoy it. She loves it.

My 4.5 year old has outgrown his old child seat and I thoroughly researched all possibilities before settling on the Bobike Junior. It has been great. I wasn't keen on a tow bike because storage is an issue for me and I feel it's easier to get around where I need to go when the bike is more compact. It is very solidly made and I have total confidence in it holding the weight that it is supposed to. I have also taken my 6.5 year old for a ride and it was great with him as well. I was worried that carrying older children would feel too heavy, but it doesn't, and I'm just an average sized mum. The seat is from age 5 and I wouldn't recommend using it for anyone younger. My younger son felt a bit exposed the first few times he rode on it, as it doesn't have the sides and straps of a younger child seat. After a few times he has more confidence and really enjoys it but that is something to consider. The only niggle is that the seat appears to have somewhere to place a three-point harness but only has a lap belt on it. If it came with shoulder straps, younger riders would feel more secure. The directions could have been a bit more clear, but it only took two people about 45 minutes to put on. I can't believe more people don't have this as it is great for that awkward time when your child has outgrown the normal child seat but can't really cycle any distance when you need to get somewhere. When not in use it folds down flat and you hardly notice it. Overall I am really glad I gave this a go and look forward to using it a lot! I would definitely recommend this seat.

The fitting instructions are laughable, and getting the lower brackets to fix firmly to your bike is a schlepp, but these limitations are worth bearing with because this is a great bit of kit and I can't think of any alternative. If your child has outgrown their Hamax/Co-Pilot child seat, and isn't yet big enough to mix it with the HGVs on our roads, then this is the ONLY answer to your needs.I was initially skeptical because our daughter's growing weight had already become noticeable when I carried her on her Hamax child seat, to try another child seat when she was that bit bigger was concerning but I needn't have worried. Because the Junior is fixed rigidly and doesn't bounce around like the Hamax type she is actually less effort on me,despite being a good deal heavier now than she was over the years I carried her in the Hamax.I would give this five stars except for:-Rubbish instructions. The seat belt is a joke, we've removed it.I wish they provided rear light fixings (and better reflector) because the seat will hide any lights you have on your seat post. You need to check the tightness of the fixing bolts regularly; they continually work loose.Despite these problems I still award it four stars because I can't live without it. It has liberated us, I'm able to cycle places which would be out of reach for a six-year-old cyclist, it has saved us a fortune on bus fares and car running costs.

I use the bicycle to commute and I had a child seat of up to 22 kg to carry my little one to school on the way. She is know six and has overgrown the old seat. When I found Boobike Junior it seemed the solution for my problem... and it was. I read some negative reviews on assembly and quality. Well, they could improve the manual. If you have zero knowledge of bicycle structure and mechanics, then it will be a difficult task, you rather take it to a bike shop and pay a small fee to a professional to do the job. Otherwise it is a piece of cake.I did watch the videos on YouTube but they are not step by step videos. Even though I was able to attach it firmly to my bicycle and it seems way more secure than the other seat I had.It took me alone 1 hour and 30 minutes to put it together because the structure is so obvious. My daughter felt a bit vulnerable in the beginner, but you can buy a 3 point strap for the seat; it comes with a simple strap.Regarding quality, there is nothing wrong with the materials and design quality. It comes with an adaptor in case you have a small frame bike (my case). It fits well my dutch like bike and looks minimalist when folded. I really like it and so does my daughter. If it breaks in the future I will come back here and let you know.

I used this seat on holidays for my seven year old girl, she is gone too big for the crossbar mounted seat but not yet capable of lasting a full bike ride on her own bike. I didn't want one of the large moulded seats as we were heading to France on the Ferry and boot space was at a premiuma lot of people on the campsite asked me where I got the seat, it was so easy to use and so attractively designed. It folds away very discretely when not in use and if you bring some bungee straps you could use it as a carrier for groceries.one design flaw is the way the open strap drops down into the spokes. if you don't have a passenger it's easy to forget until you hear the buckle hitting the straps or worse, getting tangled. as a DIY cure, I am, going to try sewing some black elastic to either end of the long strap so that it is pulled back up to the seat but doesn't interfere with the safe operation of the strap.

absolutely fantastic seat ideal for a little one who has grown out of a baby bike seat but cant cycle far on his owninstructions not the best but watched a video on u tube which helped. its comfy and folds flat which looks great whenhes not with me .you don't need a bike rack (it fits above) as it comes with fixings which go onto your bike. keep an eye on leg fixings as they canslide down slightly if not tightened properly. I brought (separately) spoke guards as I am abit paranoid about his foot slipping off foot bar. I also added extra straps over the shoulders which fitted to the provided lap belt easily (again personal preference)would recommend as seat doesn't bounce about and is lightweight have had a few people ask me where I got it from as they wanted one best buy!!

I really like this childseat. It folds down so that you can just leave it on your bike all the time. Both my wife and I have the same seat on our bikes and it allows alot of flexibility with our children to pick them up and leave them to school/sports/events. I've deducted 1 start because they seem to have a lifespan of about 2 years. (that's with daily usage). They start to tilt back after a while. But given the value that we get out of them replacing after 2 years is still very good value. Highly recommend to cyclists looking for a convenient/safe option to carry older kids on the bike.

Amazing product. Perfect for my 7yo son. Very sturdy and practical. The only issue was that the seat belt got caught in my wheel one day because I forgot to buckle it back up after dropping my son off. Mostly my fault, but a belt contraption to prevent this would be helpful. Amazing seat though. Lightweight but strong!! I love that it folds up and you can put your shopping on it.

quick delivery. Product complies with the description. To prepare the installation of the product, go to Youtube installation videos. Good quality product. Simple installation. For my part, I had a little trouble putting the chocks on my bike because my bike frame is not cylindrical but triangular. In short the walks are more comfortable and reassuring with my child.

Well pleased, feeling solid and quite safe. However, make sure that screws etc must be tightened and tightened. I also had trouble with the seat loosening from the head and falling against the rear wheel. Then I had to adjust and get some extra clips to make sure this did not happen again. But all in all, very pleased.

Recommend this, it's great when you have a little bigger child who does not want or can ride a bike. Plus: The daughter thinks it's comfortable to sit on and it's stable. Minus: Skulls when riding without children. The belt was too easy to snap up for the daughter.

We are very pleased. Our child loves it. And we found it very convenient that you can use it as a luggage tray when not in use. And very nice with the extra carrying bar that you have behind. However, the instruction manual has great potential for improvement.

Hello, I would be grateful if you could please confirm that the Bobike Junior seat can be used on a Carrera Hellcat bike? You can go to this website to see the bike in question: https://www.halfords.ie/cycling/bikes/all-bikes/593332.html Thanks, Shane

Good chair for older / larger children. Have just cycled on Koster with our 6 year old daughter sitting in a Bobike and it went great. Pretty heavy and a little difficult to mount, but went well with the help of videos on Youtube. Recommended!
