These are great walking poles. They are light, strong, and comfortable to use.The poles have three sections. As usual with walking poles, the lower sections slide inside the upper sections to allow adjustment of the length, and for storage. They come with a fitted pair of hard metal tips, and small baskets (to stop the pole sliding in to soft ground). There is a larger pair of baskets included, and you can also buy rubber tips,if you prefer. Most walking poles have twist grips to control the sections. These poles have clips on each section, that are easy to open with a thumb. I find this type easier to use, but it probably depends on what you are used to using. The poles are marked with heights on each section,so it is easy to set them quickly to your preferred length. The left and right poles are clearly marked with a tag, and the hand loops are strong and comfortable. The handles are tilted forward, which is where the 'ergo' for 'ergonomic' in their name comes from. I find them comfortable to use, and I like the tilted grip. The handles are made of cork. There is a slightly spongy foam section below the grip, and I find this handy for use on very steep slopes, without changing the length of the pole. Normally, if I am going up or down a slope, I just change the the length of the upper section of pole.I've used these for a few weeks, and have walked about thirty miles with them, on a mixture of trails, hill paths, paved roads (for short sections) and open hillside. I've found them very good so far, and worth the price, in my opinion. I do find the clicking of the hard metal tips noticeable on hard surfaces. If I was walking exclusively on this type of surface, I would probably swap them for rubber tip ends. It's not practical to do this frequently, as the tips have a very firm fit and need a bit of time and effort to change (I use a pair of pliers, although stronger people might be able to do it with their grip strength alone).I am very happy with these poles. They are more expensive than my previous poles, but the lightness, comfortable grip and flip locks make it worth the extra cost for me.

This is my first ever pair of hiking poles, so I can't compare them with other sorts. They made a massive difference to me on my 16-day hike this summer: for the first time I avoided serious knee pain on a hike. They seem very well made-- I never had any fear they might snap or come unfastened. As necessary, when descending steeply, they took my full weight in their stride. The straps will take your full weight too, when you lean on them. The cork handles are very comfortable, though they take time to dry out if they get wet.

Fantastic. High quality aluminium walking poles.I took them walking over the Pyranees. The cork handles are perfect for hot weather walking, because they prevent your hands from getting sweaty, which can lead to blisters. The really special thing about these poles though, is the snap-locking mechanism. There is absolutely no chance of the poles wearing out the normal screw-locks that one finds on most other poles.Really pleased, worth the extra few quid to purchase quality.

Wow just wow.... My favorite from all the poles i have ever used.. did 830km over the course of 32 days on these with a 26.5kg backpack on through all kinds of terrain, mountains etc. and they were AMAZING! it was the first time i used poles with the angle on the grip and i have got to say it makes a BIG difference.. My wife tried them on a few times and now i am going to buy her some of these too. Makes me wonder why isnt the angled grip a standard thing.

I've used these poles for three months now, up and down my local 404m hill some 35 times so not a huge amount of use. I was disappointed to notice yesterday that one of the hand loops is fraying along the seam, I expected better. I also found the poles shorten over the course of a couple of walks even after adjustment. Despite these problems I've enjoyed using the poles, the cork grips are great but a little smelly if left unwashed in a hot car!

Use these for long distance hiking (15+ miles a day) to help when legs are getting a little more tired towards the end of the walk. They are light and I especially like the slightly canted cork handles. Be aware that walking with poles that do not have protected tips is causing long term damage to paths because each time the tip is planted it makes a hole. Thus do try to use protectors in combination with poles to help preserve pathways.

Quality product. I use them at least 4 times per week. well made and lightweight. The tips grip the ground a treat. Use them in hot climate and the cork hand grips are perfect. The hand straps adjust well and provide good support. I have big hands and if anything the grips are slightly small for me. but i can live with that no problem!

Black Diamond Trail walking sticks are great, the best I've used. I have just trekked to Everest Base Camp using them followed by a trek to the top of Kaller Pattar 5,500 mts. I will be taking them to Kilimanjaro in Aug 16. They are very strong and very light.

These are great - cork stops your hands getting sweaty and losing grip (versus hard plastics and foam finishes). The heights are a doddle to set. The poles are long, but can be taken apart into the three sections and will then fit in hand baggage. Recommended

My decision to buy on quality has been rewarded! These are my first poles and I'm very pleased with them. The cork handles, the offset on the handles, build quality and weight are all good.

Nice design, cork handles, sturdy. The collapsed length is still rather long to carry in the backpack.
