I am 5 foot 10 tall and weigh 67kg, 120cm works well for me. I like running and got these for hilly, difficult terrain. Took these up a couple munros today. Really good for weight, they swing well and reduce postural strain on upper body while taking the uphill work away slightly from your quads. They barely flex, even under occasional full body weight. I tend to run downhill regardless of steepness so just had them folded for that, but for more cautious walkers I can see they would be helpful. they are really useful for large rock sections and boggy areas; to vault over these features and keep speed. On flat sections they're not a lot of help for running as the arm swing is too fast for poles to catch up.So I can easily just hold them midway down while they're extended and the weight balances itself well. They fold quickly and extend pretty well.Negatives are the inability to clip the top part of the pole to the mid part when folded, not sure if this will really matter as it's easy to hold them folded or stash them somewhere in a bag. Also when folding, the lower section is a bit tougher to detach but does eventually come undone. Takes a bit more pull force and time/technique than expected. My worry is that repeated cycles of this might stretch the cabling over time but these are made from pretty tough materials and you can tighten the cord/cabling so can't fault that too much. The last mini issue is the wrist strap. I like to put my hand through from behind and below so it comes up through the strap. That way, my wrist rests on the strap meaning I don't need as much grip strength as part of my down force on the pole runs through the strap. Unfortunately the velcro isn't adjustable enough to get it as tight as I would like for this. It being tight means the force is directed more vertically down the pole by the strap rather than at a slightly off angle. It also means I need a bit more grip and hand strength to push off the pole vertically as the strap is initially slack and then gradually loads in that slightly off axis direction. Most people route their hands the other way round so probably not a big deal if that's your preference. The wrist straps did help pull the poles out of muddy sections when I wasn't holding tight so they aren't useless. Just slightly suboptimal for my wishes. Can't overlook that I can find nothing better on the market and that these are 95% of the way there for what I want.

These poles seem almost miraculously light. The fold up very small (small enough to go in a day sack for example) and can be deployed very rapidly. They seems very strong to me (I weigh close to 90 kg and they helped me on a lot of rocky ground while hill walking without any feeling of weakness or bending). The main thing which may give a purchaser pause (apart from the cost!) is that one can't alter the length. I am used to changing the length according to the terrain, for example while descending a steep slope, and there are no adjustments at all. I got used to that pretty quickly in fact. But be careful which length you choose to buy,and don't expect to lend your poles to someone very different in height.Other points: they have metal ferrules that can be replaced (you get a spare pair in the pack) but so far i haven't found any rubber tips for silencing them on tarmac etc - perhaps they exist but are not obviously on offer; the other thing is, don't stick them in your day sack and then expect to take them on an aircraft, at least not in Europe! Mine were confiscated at Stansted airport on one trip, and I had to pay to retrieve them on the way back. The security staff showed me their standing instructions forbidding such poles in hand luggage, so it was legit but just very very annoying (this happened in early October 2018, and regulations may change).

I placed order for a pair of Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z 110cm on 10 Aug, estimated delivery 15 to 19 Aug, and received on 21 Aug 2019 (Singapore). Just in time as I plan to use the new pair on 24 Aug. It’s about 95% similar to my existing pair which I previously bought at 40% discount sales at a outdoor life shop in Singapore on 18 Jan 2019. The slight differences probably due to manufacture update. I carelessly lost one of the existing pair during a recent hiking trip.

I recently "ran" (lots of speed hiking involved) the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc course (100+ miles, 30,000+ feet of gain) with the Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z. I was very impressed with how light and sturdy they were. I own Leki poles with the quick release system, but I much prefer the adjustable straps on the Carbon Z. Excellent grip and leverage for those steep ascents. I could not imagine running any mountain course without these. Highly recommended.

Took these poles up Half Dome, Lower and Upper Yosemite Falls, and Mariposa Grove in Yosemite. Also went up Mount Whitney with them. All within a week's timespan for around 50 miles of heavy hiking. The poles performed great. They were comfortable, sturdy, and held their ground over all sorts of terrain. Setup and breakdown is instant, they pack down small, and are very lightweight. Very happy and would recommend.

If you’re reading this you probably should just buy these. Leki is one of the only other brands with something comparable, but realistically these are the lightest folding poles you’ll find for a good price. I don’t love the foam grips, but the folding mechanism is great. Would be nice if they came in 5cm increments as I ended up sizing up, which I’ve found useful in the snow and for water crossings.

Bough 120 cm. They arrive attached to the card on both sides. Each pole had a marker "120 cm" , and the card also had measurement each section should be (like 39 cm each section). When measured, the total length in the assembled state was at most 110 cm, and each section was about 35cm (37 cm with connection tube). But they looked great so I asked for a replacement 130cm.

11.10.2019

I returned the 110cm, just felt a tad too short, me being 5ft 7, but my lower body is possibly longer than their intended height for that pole size. I have a Squat upper instead! They'd be fine for a better proportional person! Another issue is the 110cm handle loop is smaller that does for my tradesman hands! I've now got the 120cm, and well happy now!

love these. Was a little worried about the fixed length but in practice the grip area is so large its easy to change hand position ie when it gets really steep. Super light, neat design. simple deployment. pack away easily . guess only downside is the carbon construction can occassionally send vibrations up the pole when you strike hard ground.

These poles are lightweight, but strong. Fit easily into my rucksack. I liked being able to order the appropriate size for my height without adjusting. Expensive, but worth it for me as I need the stability. I had to buy a second set of the same model, as I managed to leave them behind somewhere on holiday!

After a significant amount of research, I chose to purchase these poles and have no regrets. I have used them through the summer and the fall with no complaints but do plan to purchase another set for the cold winter months here in NY as I am not sure these would withstand the deep snow and ice.

Compared to conventional aluminum trekking poles, the weight is about half and the swing is light anyway! Trail runs require large and quick movements, and climbing helps raise the posture with the help of the upper body, making it possible to climb for a long time without getting tired.

Super light and compact - yet still in use the heavier products in no way below. The only compromise that can not be prevented without weight gain is the fixed length. So you have to decide whether or not you want more support in ascent or descent. There is a star less.

I just bought this and used it on my recent hike. I find these absolutely amazing. They are super light weight and pretty strong. I will advise to get a pair of rubber tips along with it, at least I did and found useful. You wont go wrong with these carbon fiber frames.

Very satisfied with the speed of delivery for this product that I already knew and also with the price offered. Otherwise these sticks are very pleasant to use, solid, compact and very light. A must . This is why this purchase is a gift to share with my partner.
