I'm not a rock climber but I work in an open pit mine, hiking over steep piles of large broken rocks. Most leather gloves are poorly fitted and have awful breathability. I wanted something lighter that still provided sufficient protection - and these are the best I've tried so far. The XL fit super well (6'3", large build) - not too tight but definitely snug with the velcro cuff. The padded, leather grip-side of the glove is dead on perfect for working around rocks - providing the safety I need. The mesh back provides great ventilation so my hands don't get sweaty and uncomfortable on hot days. The gloves also have a little bit of padding around the knuckles which is a thoughtful addition Ihaven't seen on similar gloves - short of gloves that have motorcycle style crazy levels of padding.

I use these gloves for rope work in technical rescue. I have small hands and I was having a very hard time finding gloves that fit the width of my fingers. All of the other gloves I have tried have had very wide fingers that would get stuck in carabiners and make articulation of small objects difficult. These gloves are perfect for slender small hands. Most other brands the size XS was too big for me, this brand the XS was slightly too small, the small fit perfect. I had to exchange the size and the customer service was great. I have been using and abusing these gloves for several months now and they have held up very well, great construction.I also like the fabric on the back of the hand it is light and breathable so my hands do not get as hot as with other styles.

I know this is a belay glove, but it works great as a scrambling/climbing glove. I gave it 4 stars though, as I wore through a pair in one season. It's hard to find a good glove for scrambling - can't be knit or it can unravel and wind can penetrate, can't be real leather or it can't get wet, can't be goretex or its too hot - so I bought two more pairs since they are pretty inexpensive, hoping to get a few more seasons before having to go on another glove-quest! Happy climbing! PS: I am a girl with pretty long fingers, I can usually pull off a men's small - the small is a little big, but I ordered them knowing that already. Most women, I expect would like an XS.

These gloves are GREAT for rock scrambling - but the fit isn't great for my hands. As a woman with small hands, and long fingers, I went with the extra small after reading reviews. It's very hard to find unisex gloves that fit me. The fingers are a little short for me, and the gloves are not terribly comfortable, so I have to keep taking them off and only putting them on when I actually needed. I just got the fingerless version in a size small, and they are too large in the palm area. They do a great job of protecting my hands from the rough rocks and the grip is good - the fit is just awkward for me.

Great all-round glove for various outdoor activities! Processing: Very good: even after repeated, rough use on the rock (even in the wet) no holes or conspicuous damage. Isolated is not the glove. It is not suitable for colder temperatures (even if it gives some heat to the material). Fit: Fits well to my hand - but is certainly an individual theme. So try on better. The fingertip sensation remains relatively good. Since he is well-groomed around my hand / fingers, work with rope can be done or rock recesses seized. Value for money is very good. I would buy it again.

Fit my hands well, but the thumb tips were really tight for some reason. So I soaked them in water and stuck a screw handle into the thumb and let them dry, streched them out now they fit fine. They have a good grip. Im using them for gondola evacuation training at a ski resort, so mostly gripping metal and ropes and they work well for that. They are thin enough that I can tie knots without taking them off. Hope to get a couple of years out of them using them about 6 days per year. Really like the gromets and loops to hang them on a caribeaner so i dont lose them.

This is my favorite glove to use for belaying when climbing and also for when I do Rappels. It fits the hand very while still being easy to remove and keep on me. I've had my previous pair for almost two years with constant use throughout the summers and there is still no wear on it. I got this for an extra pair because I love them so much.I am sure there are better gloves you can buy but I don't see the need of spending $50 on a pair of gloves when these work so well and the cost is at a great price for this level of quality.

Another high quality product from Black Diamond, as I've come to expect. These may be the cheapest gloves that BD offers, but they are just as high of quality. I have used these while mine exploring to protect my hands and while doing freeclimbing. They allow for a good amount of dexterity while also offering good protection and grip. Very pleased.

Look fine. But not tried in the mountains yet. First ordered a medium but turned too tight, like my large-size inside .... and it fits just right. Looks more like a stretched size M. However, a good pot to mention a size chart with it in accordance with the dimensions VANB striking gloves.

I like the comfortable fit of these gloves. I am using them for weight lifting. I did not like the fingerless kind so I bought these. I also don't like leather, which these are not. I have very small female hands. The small was a tiny bit big. The palms are padded but not heavily.

Used these going down Diana’s Throne in Southern Utah and they held up great! Only used them twice so far and have been down probably 10 rappels but so far holding up great! Did heat up a little bit when hand lining a 40 foot drop at a 80 degree slope. But love them so far!

I have a pair of 'full finger' and a pair of 'half finger' and use it regularly. During the climb the half finger version and at certain and rougher terrain the full finger. They feel solid but because of the small thickness you keep feeling what you are doing.

I picked up this pair for hiking up Colorado's 14ers to spare my hands when scrambling is required. They have done a great job protecting my palms and are flexible enough to still feel like an extension of my skin. I bring them with on almost every hike now.

I use these gloves for work climbing cell towers. They hold up way better than the typical grease monkey gloves I get at Home Depot. With every day use climbing towers, they can last up to a month or longer. I cant speak to using them in any other capacity.

I just use it for the 1st time for climbing rock scramble in Zion as a beginner and it works great to protect my hands and it feels comfortable. I am a petite person and the fingers are a bit longer then my fingers and i ordered xs, which works out fine.
