I nearly gave this 4 stars but then felt I should review it for what it is, not the ideal. I have used a petrol hedge trimmer and this obviously hasn't got that power. The reason I didn't buy petrol is weight and I could not safely use a petrol one off a step ladder at shoulder height. I wanted more power than a battery trimmer so I ended up with one with a cable which isn't my ideal. But this works well. 4 stars for easy to use because it doesn't always cut what you want with one sweep. Occasionally it took a few goes to cut what I wanted but that's down to the power and I doubt other electric ones would be any better.

I'm not sure if the Black & Decker/Stanley brand is as significant as it used to be but these hedgetrimmers have been a pleasant discovery. I haven't found a use for the 'end bit' - a sort of two-inch open saw blade beyond the trimming blades - but this is the right mix of the ingredients we needed - see the 'headline' I've used here. If they last more than a couple of years they will have been a complete success, but they are certainly off to a good start. We have very varied types and sizes of hedge and these have to cope with all of them. Impressive so far!

Awesome hedge trimmer. Powerful and long blade which makes it easy to get a consistent, even cut across the hedge. The saw tooth attachment at the end is really clever idea and means you can cut through thicker branches that get in the way. I have about 20 meters a of hedge, all above 6ft which I was able to trim in about half the time vs my previous hedge trimmer. Great buy.

Product is fine. The advertising leaves something to be desired. The picture does not display the cord. It shows something like a connector leaving one with the impression that something additional needs to be purchased to complete the package. Furthermore there is a link to another page headed "other items sometimes purchased with this". This is not honest advertising.

This is a well built garden tool that does the job and looks the part.I really like the cutter at the end of the blades - very useful for thicker branches.The only thing that I can find fault with is the flimsy plastic thin blade sheath that protects the blades when not in use. When trying to remove it the blades get caught in it and it's very frustrating.

It is robust and tackles most hedges easily. The built in branch trimmer is useful. but don't reckon on cutting anything very thick. Most useful is the 600mm blade length so you can cut that bit that's out of reach. It's quite heavy, not surprisingly, and so stretching out to trim can be tiring. But for me, it's perfect for what I want it for.

Dislike the saw blade on the end, it does not cut even the thinnest branch, and snags when using the hedge trimmerwhen going from right to left. It's alright going from left to right, but you do need to cut both ways.I bought it because my old one was a Black and Decker, and served me well, but I wish I had not bought it, what a mistake.

As per other reviews: the saw is a gimmick & the blade cover is a nightmare. However, the actual hedge trimming is great, beastly blades with good diameter cutting and reach. Demolished some overgrown and pretty hefty hedges, lopped small branches on overgrown trees. Would buy again, but probs look for one without the saw.

The trimmer is much stronger than the one I used to have. It can cut 1 to 1.5cm thick branch. The wire is long enough to manoeuvre around. However, I did cut through the wire by mistake and had to reconnect the wire again. If there is some devices to keep the wire away from the cutter would be better.

Quality of product good. Design could be improved. Saw at end not particularly good. Blade protector not as good as the last Black and Decker and tore when taking it out of the packaging. Works well and hopefully lasts as long as the last one.

I did tried other brands but this one is just great. I have hedge in my garden 2 meters high and blade is long enough to not use a ladder to trimm top of it. Pleased with purchase and recommend to others

A little worried after reading some negative reviews, but pleased with purchase. A very sharp, clear cut. Old trimmer lasted 20 years plus, but certainly notice the difference! Would recommend.

Excellent. Gives a really good cut on hedges and bushes. The saw feature for thicker branches requires a bit more effort than I expected but it does work.

I've always been a fan of Black & Decker products. This prooved to be no let down and does the job for which it is intended perfectly . I recommend it

Bought to replace "professional" Bosch heavy duty device which broke down after several years good service.. Does the job just as well. Will it last?
