Birthdays the Beginnings in an aquarium management strategy style of game in which you take evolutionary control of a small planet (the cube) to manage the evolution and mutation of life forms from the beginnings of time.Starting which nothing at all, you develop the landscape by creating mountain ranges, flat lands and waterways from rivers to lakes, coastal shallows, seas and deep seas. Each adjustment affects the overall temperature of your planet and you need to achieve the right ‘birthing’ conditions for life. Once you have zooplankton in the sea you can begin to evolve multicellular lifeforms. In turn you can begin to mutate those to form the first molluscs and fish which ultimately provide the blueprint for life on land.Plants will develop and if you control the environment appropriately, you can birth all manner of dinosaurs, from the smallest to the biggest plant eaters and meat eaters.Eventually with careful manipulation of the planet and atmosphere you will begin to spawn mammals which in turn evolve into primates and, yes, eventually human beings. Once you have humans, they will begin to build communities and houses.Control of the environment is a case of lowering or raising land to influence temperature in addition to using special powers like global warming, cooling and other effects which will affect the atmospheric temperature, humidity and sea temperature. As your planet warms or cools, species will be born or die off. You can target specific species to evolve or mutate and the aim is to collect as many species as you can as your planet moves towards the birth of humanity. The graphics are done in a very soft but appealing cartoon style with creatures having the appearance of fully animated stuffed toys made from colourful velour and felt. The style might not appeal to people who like to take themselves very seriously but most folks will find themselves saying, ‘awe look at that little creature,’ when you birth a new species. At first the game seems extraordinary simple, but in addition to controlling the climate, you also need to have regard to maintaining plentiful supplies of food for the hunters and keep the prey species in sufficient numbers so they also survive. Each creature will also need specific habitats and sufficient space in the right conditions to thrive. The game becomes a balancing act, weighing up the pros and cons of each decision. You are offered story mode, free mode (in which you can choose different sizes of planet to control) and challenge mode where you have to achieve set objectives which are incrementally more complex and difficult to achieve.I found the game to be a relaxed and welcome diversion from the routine shooters and adventure games that tend to grace most gamers’ collections. The controls are a bit iffy from time to time but overall I enjoyed the title even more than I expected. A very charming and sometimes challenging management strategy game. Good for kids and just as good for adults!

Its fun and educational for your building a "world" almost from stratch. You learn how land and water can influence surface and wind temperatures. You learn that under specfic conditions new lifeforms can come into existance and how adaptable they are if conditions change. You also gain an understand how a ecosystem evolved from nothing to supporting several dozen species (if not more) each with populations in the at least thousands (depending on the conditions).

Nice box not amazed at the game and there should be a statue instead of the plush figure but that's just my preference other than that it's not bad and not expensive
