To give a brief intro, the original Bionic Commando was a side-scrolling 8-bit game for the NES that was later remade into "Bionic Commando: Rearmed" and now remade completely into a fully 3D game, which is this current "Bionic Commando".Plot:Our story takes place in a future where soldiers are fitted with 'bionic' parts...until the public (somehow) decides they are a threat to society and votes to have them decommissioned.Of course, the 'rouge' soldiers don't take too kindly to this and thus take over the city. Here is where you, Nathan Spencer - a commando with a bionic arm, comes in to save the day as the last hope for the city under seige. Yeah right! The plot is cheesy, laughable and not too entertaining...not to mention an uninspiring voice acting that tries too hard to sound tough. You really can't believe much of the storyline but the good thing is, you don't really need to rely on the story that much to enjoy the game.Gameplay:In truth, your bionic arm is really the main star of the game; you use Nathan's extensible bionic arm to hold onto surfaces and swing (like spiderman if you will!), get from one place to another, and even fight off enemies. And because the game relies to heavily on swinging and flying through the air, you actually get to play in a complete three dimensional world which is very satisfying! The flying and swinging action never gets old...and is one of the main aspects of the game. One thing I didn't like much is that the game is much too linear, and if you wander or swing too far off track, you mostly die instantly due to radiation (which kinda surrounds most of the world except your charted route).Oh and btw, Nathan can't swim either. In addition to the main objective, each level also has collectibles and certain challenges to complete in return for upgrades.Weapons:One of the other things I did NOT like are the choice of weapons:They're quite mediocre and most of the time you only find yourself using the standard pistol that remains largely unchanged from start to finish - and mostly gets the job done. Of course you also find other guns, snipers, grenades and rocket launchers from time to time but there aren't quite that many of them as you'd like. But I don't think the lack of weapons is that much of a big deal because this isn't a game where you are expected to take down enemies with fancy guns. The main aspect of the game is your bionic arm; and as you progress you find yourself learning new abilities making it useful for attacks such as grabbing and "zip kicking" an enemy, throwing objects at them, ripping things apart etc...and its quite a bit of fun!!Controls are quite good and the

Bionic Commando is a misunderstood game.Because it features a third person viewpoint, a lot of people mistook it for a simple third person shooter, but it's much more than that. There were complaints about lack of weapons, lack of ammo, lack of cover, lack of exploration. Well, this isn't a third person shooter, it's a generalized action game in which you ALSO get guns, but where your main weapon is the Bionic Arm.Some complained also about the controls. Well, I don't know about the Xbox version, but I had no problems at all with the PS3 version. The controls are tight, the arm is very responsive, and you can do some amazing things easily.Anyone that is still on the fence about the game, give it a try. Unless you really are expecting a "run, gun and take cover" game, you won't be disappointed. The company that made the game, GRIN, is already shut down, unfortunately. While I didn't find get a chance to play their two other recents releases, Terminator Salvation and Wanted: Weapons of Fate, they did revitalize the Bionic Commando franchise with Bionic Commando Rearmed, and should have continued that trend with Bionic Commando. This is a very fun game where you swing around various landscapes and pull off some great stunts while killing your enemies with the arm. The guns are just for support, backup, when faced with a bunch of enemies over the corner, you aren't meant to stay hidden in some makeshift cover, you're meant to go to the air, using your arm to escape their bullets, while aiming at them with the shotgun or locking on your homing missiles while you're in free fall. When you start to lose health, swing away and go to places your enemies can't reach, and your health will increase steadily.Don't go in thinking this is a free roam game. While the arm is amazing and you CAN explore the levels a lot with it, the game is very linear in its progression (but not in the way you defeat your enemies) and it was never meant to be a free roam game. The blue radiation the levels are spattered with is easy to avoid, and it was placed there simply to push you onward towards your goal. The story in the game starts off slow but reaches a fantastic ending, that divided a lot of players. Not everyone will like it, but it was gutsy of them to do it. Whoever, the ending of the tale was really just the beginning. Unfortunately with GRIN gone and the low sales of this great game, I don't think Capcom will be issuing a sequel.Bionic Commando is a great fun action game that got shafted by poor reviews. Don't let the expectations of this "next-gen" age where every game must be exactly the same taint your experience with this great game.

Fans of the original Bionic Commando will love this sequel and updates of the classic NES side scrolling platform shooter. Making the move to 3D easily, Bionic Commando captures the excitement of swinging and leaping across levels, fighting awesome enemies, and using fantastic weapons with their own unique benefits.Unfortunately, the writing of the game leaves a lot to be desired. As is typical for modern games, "gritty" gameplay means that every five minutes or so, some character is dropping f-bombs into their dialogue. I'm a big fan of the f-word, but I feel like it's being overused in video games these days. If you want to make someone look "tough," just have them use the f-bomb more than the hero. This is a formula so stupid that only e-thugs will think it's cool. The other problem is, the identity final boss is easy to predict if you've seen movie sequels of rebooted franchises. The writers couldn't think of an original way to revive the concept, so of course one of the the former allies is now a traitor. I don't mind cynical writing, but this same cliché was used in SWAT, Mission Impossible and Charlie's Angels, and it's been done to death. Seriously, there has to be a way to revive a franchise without using this tired cliché.Setting that aside, the big "twist" about the origins of Spencer's bionic arm is just stupid, and they turn the whole FSA project into an experiment that would make Josef Mengele proud. So all along, the "trusted friend" was really just as bad as the Imperials trying to clone Hitler in the first game. *Sigh* It's been done to death, so to see it here after playing through the rest of the game was a major letdown. But, ignoring the crap writing, the gameplay, music and graphics are all top notch, and even after completing the game, I'm going back in to play old levels. That's why despite my dislike of the plot, I give Bionic Commando high marks for great gameplay and for the replayability.

Ok... I read the reviews and bought the game anyway as it was cheap enough. After about 10 minutes running around some pretty unimaginative offices and shooting with what sounded like a pea shooter I nearly put it away for good. I persevered and was glad I did.. this game is excellent, one of the best I've played.Swinging around with the bionic arm and picking up and tossing cars, etc, at enemies was great fun.The Biomechs and the Bosses are very hard to beat and it took me hours sometimes to finish a scene! They do, however, get a lot easier (not easy just easier) to defeat with practice.GOOD POINTS:After the initial dull few minutes it is a great deal of fun, particularly when you get past the Arm training bit..persevere, it's worth it and gets a lot better. The movement was fairly fluid for a TPS.. not too much jerkiness when turning, etc.It isn't GOW or COD but it isn't designed to be.. it's a very enjoyable third person shooter - a genre I'm not that fond of to be honest but this one was outstanding. It's amazing value for money... I paid four quid for it and it took me weeks to finish. In comparison "Homefront" cost considerably more, took me half a day to finish, and bored the ar*e off me.BAD POINTS:As another reviewer has stated it can get very frustrating as it is a tough game and I only played it on the Normal setting. I guess if you tried it on Easy it would be less frustrating. There should be more save points, particularly after a tough fight with the Mechs. It really is annoying when Spencer keeps drowning especially with the amount of water in the story. The story itself isn't brilliant but it's entertaining enough. In summary, I gave it five stars for fun but only four overall because of the lack of save points in a difficult game.

I've been an FPS fan for as long as they've been about, and I bought this when it first came out (following on from some pretty decent reviews). It's a lot of fun, and I don't buy into this stuff that it's not like this or that - it's fun, and at times very silly. But, it's mainly a great romp. There are the usual odd bits and pieces where the weapons seem a little inappropriate, but from start to finish I enjoyed it. Great fun. Don't need to be too anal about any of this; we do it for fun, and some of the in-game commentary is worth the entrance price.Mostly as a side issue; the price of this makes it a steal. Get one, and tell me you didn't grin an awful lot some of the time.

Bionic commando is a game that has been damaged by the critic and the videogames press, besides it's a fun game.In the beginning is hard to control the main character specially in some jumps but when you are used to is very very funny and ammazing.some jumps are incredible.Bionic commando it's a great action game but in my opinion the best of the game it's the soundtrack. It's one of the best i have ever heard and it's suits excellent with the action scenes. The multiplayer is quite funny too and very dinamic, more than a normal shooter.I'll hardly recommend this game

I bought this game becose it souded intresting in the prevews i read. And on the whole I whasnt disapointed. You carnt tacke cover and shoot over walls are round carners like you do in gears of war are uther moden therd persan shooters. And the scriped is a bit lame. However the bionic arm wercks well and swing around the ciy is fun. Plus there are some ace boss fights. It can be a bit frutrating from time to tim becose the arm is macks it imposable to swim so the guy drowns a lot. But as I say get past the rough egis and there is a lot of fun to be had hear.

If you like action games and you want to be in for a fun challenge don't miss Bionic Commando. It's swing mechanic is deep and original. It's not easy to get the hang of it, but once you master it you'll be in for a unforgettable thrill ride. The game starts really slow with some tutorial parts which are far away from the greatness of the things to come.Just keep playing and you'll fall in love with the frantic swing-action scenes you'll be part of.The game is almost free at this price.Simply play it.

Sadly this game hasn't succeeded despite the heart and effort that went into it.You can get it cheap now and you won't regret it.Great music, great atmosphere, great gameplay mechanics. I'm a sucker for blockbuster games and this should have been one!

I was pleasantly surprised that the game was brand new and freshly sealed as I was under the assumption that it was a pre-owned copy. The order was processed very quickly and delivered one day early. The game is working just fine without any problems.

The remake of the game bionic commando, which I am sure every fan of CAPCOM played in his or her childhood. The game itself has a nice story line and is extremely enjoyable.
