I bought this as a solution for the age-old problem of how to protect and carry a DSLR for a weekend away. In the past I've tried Lowepro Top Loaders (Bulky), wrapping the camera in a sweatshirt (Bulky, and not much good when you are out and about and it rains) or not bothering with anything (risky and potentially expensive as the camera bashes against the duty-free scotch in a carry-on.This little Billingham therefore looked well worthy of a try-out, and I'm glad I bought it. It is absolutely beautifully made, in typical Billingham canvas/leather trim materials. As website reviews elsewhere have said, it is a bit 1950's public schoolboy satchel in style (evidently supposed to be a derogatory remark),but as I was a 1970's/80's public schoolboy it appeals to my psyche. The internal padding is soft and not bulky, the dividers are moveable and infinitely re-configurable. The deep pocket on the front is handy for guidebooks, cigarettes, filters, memory cards, sunglasses etc, but not in great quantities. As to the camera, I use a Nikon D300, with an AF-D 24-85 f2.8/4 as my travel/walkaround kit, and this bag is perfect for that. The Camera fits the bag either top down (almost like a glove, the bag could have been made for a D300 body) or side down. There is then enough room to configure a divider internally to provide a compartmented area for a spare EN-EL3e battery, a spare c/f card, a lens cloth, and a 72mm Hoya Pro-1D polariser filter in the Hoya filter case. The only exclusion is the lens hood, which slightly irritatingly the bag is about 3cm too shallow to accommodate on the lens fixed in place. You could of course reverse the hood on the lens for storage, but as the hood makes almost no difference to the lens performance in any case I tend to leave it behind at home. The strap is blissfully free of anti-slip pads, and is made of a soft but heavy duty webbing material. The idea is that you extend the strap and wear the bag over your neck and under your arm. This is what I do and it is very comfortable for an extended day out. Alternatively, if you have the camera out (which I do for most of the day) then the bag gets stuffed into the pannier basket of my son's Bugaboo Bee pushchair, where it squashes down well and takes up very little room. Oh, and its light enough that when said son is older, he could happily carry it for me!!Four stars only because I'd like the strap to be an inch or three longer (I'm tall - its almost perfect but an extra bit of adjustment would be nice) and also because Billingham criminally left off a full height slip zipped pocket on the back of the bag, which would be really useful for tickets/passports/maps etc, which on a bag like this, intended for hols and city breaks, would have been hugely useful. That aside, buy with confidence. Its a great product, and British built as well!

Ridiculous amount of money for a camera bag. Except for three things.1) It will probably outlive you.2) It's unique in style and suitable for a multiple of uses3) It's really niceOur son is getting a camera for his birthday. It's only a compact camera, but he likes a cross body bag and is less likely to drop this as well. We have also got him a mini tripod. This bag is deep enough to take a mini tripod in one compartment, plus a nicely cushioned compact camera and a few other bits and pieces as it's always handy to have a few bits and pieces with you. I desperately want to keep it for myself! The things we do for love! It is a perfect size in my opinion - not too big, not too small.Top opening so nothing can fall out, quite deep and very well cushioned. You can have it as one bigger main compartment for say a system camera with a lens attached. Or it comes with a divider with velcro on which you can place anywhere you want in a number of configurations. We have positioned it to make a nice snug compartment for the camera and a slightly larger compartment for the mini tripod. The front pocket will do nicely for his bits of junk. The top opens easily and could even be left unfastened as nothing is going to fall out of this bag. Inside the top cover is padded lid to cover everything, providing cushioning on top as well as all round. My first camera bag was a billingham and I loved it - but it was quite heavy to carry around when full. This one won't be too heavy to carry around as it's smaller and ideal for any size of compact plus a mini tripod, or for a small slr camera with a fair size lens attached, or a small system camera (Micro four thirds type) with lens attached and room for a spare lens if you set the partitioning up right.I went for this so it was future proof - he might have a bigger camera one day. Our son loves his cool bags, loves having his camera on him and I reckon he will love this one. He also likes to carry a book and the odd bit of lego around too so one bag is better than two as far as I am concerned. Yes he is only 7 but he's a really good photographer and will never forget this birthday. And it beats spending hundreds of pounds on xboxes and the like.

Billingham bags are ridiculously expensive and heavy compared to other bags, but they're also ridiculously well-made and resilient. I take photos for a living and carry my main gear around in one of Billingham's much larger bags... that I bought in 1990!This Hadley bag is made of waterproofed canvas, soft leather and brass and will hold a compact system camera and lens, or at a push a small DSLR with lens attached. There's also a divider that will allow you to store a small lens or flashgun in the main compartment without it clattering into the camera. The final storage area is a shallow pocket at the front that would be good for holding memory cards, if it could be closed more securely than with just a central press-stud.I would also like to have seen a zipped pocket on the rear, for instruction manuals, paperwork, or business cards, for example. The main top flap covers both the large compartment and the front pocket and secures with a brass peg that goes through the keyhole cut-out in the leather front strap. For better security and safety, you must tighten the strap using the adjustment buckle, otherwise the strap will come free of the peg, leaving the flap loose.

I own a bigger Billingham bag, which has been great, but was a little too large to use as an everyday camera bag. I find offerings from Lowepro and camera manufacturers own bags scream "camera bag" a bit too much. The classical Billingham design is somewhat love or hate, but it is a piece of art. Extremely well made and thought out, I think they are amongst the best bags available, but of course come at a price.I was worried this bag was going to be too small for my Canon 7D with a 24-105 lens attached, but I found a review online saying there was no issue fitting in even a 5D with an average sized lens such as the 24-105 with space for a 50mm prime or similar sized glass.I'm pleased that the reviewer was indeed correct and whilst snug, I can get my 50mm tucked into one corner and my 7D with 24-105 attached in the rest of the bag, with room for a lens cloth, spare card and a filter in the front pocket. Whilst packed this way the bag is not light, but it does fill a nice portable size which is not cumbersome to carry around

Looks like an expensive piece of luggage intended for huntin', shootin' or fishin' purposes, but it also serves as a small camera bag very well indeed. I use it for my Olympus E-P1 camera, which usually has a Panasonic 20mm f1.7 pancake lens attached. There is also just about enough room for a small micro four thirds kit lens and maybe a couple of filters. With the adjustable padded insert, my equipment feels safe, secure and comfortable when the bag is carried around the shoulder. The main thing to guard against is that it's the sort of bag that would be a likely target for opportunist thieves, on a bus or train perhaps.A bit over-priced perhaps, but water resistant and built to last. Good looking, refined, but still fully functional. Ideal for other micro four thirds users who choose to travel light. SLR owners should look for a larger model of the bag.

I'm a longstanding Billingham customer (30yrs) and currently own 6 of their bags in various models.I've recently purchased a small single lens mirrorless camera and after trying a smaller bag I now feel that the Billingham Digital is nothing short of perfect. I can carry along with the camera 4 spare batteries a lens brush, phone and wallet in the main compartment and a paperback and notebook in the front bellows pocket with still enough room for sunglasses etc, if required.Top quality materials, along with great attention to construction detail make the difference for me and I have absolute confidence in the product. I chose the all black model which is understated /low profile and perfectly functional for my street photography needs.

This is beautifully made as are all Billingham bags. With the internal separators configured to take a camera body placed face down with the screen facing upwards, it is perfect for my Fujifilm XPro2 with either 18-55 lens fitted, or 14mm lens fitted, and the other under one separator flap, and three spare batteries in plastic protector cases under the other separator flap. The front pocket takes lens hoods, exhausted batteries in cases, and USB download lead. Its also very easy to "work from" to change lenses with the bag over your shoulder on it's strap. I fitted the matching Billingham shoulder pad to the strap which is well worth doing to prevent it slipping off your shoulder.Very highly recommended.

Really well made bag. Obvious quality. Easy to get camera in and out of quickly. You can leave the camera strap outside the bag if wanted, which can be useful. No zips. Just less messing about involved using this bag. Expensive, but should last ages and does the job very well. Not laden with lots of small pockets, as some other bags are, but I have not really missed that. You need to watch what you put in the front pocket. I have had no problems, but very small items could fall out if the bag was shaken hard or upside down.I use it for a D7200 with a standard zoom. This fits fine. I tried it with a D700 and this is definitely a bit too tight.

Billingham Hadley Digital khaki £79.98 through Amazon (Brilliant price for a quality item)A fabulous little camera bag which is able to hold my Canon M3 with attached lens (Canon 18-55) while still having space for my Canon EF-M 55-200 and Samyang fish eye lens. The front pocket will easily hold all your camera accessories like batteries, lens cleaners, SD cards and small sized speedlites. You should also order the shoulder pad at the same time (Billingham SP40) because you'll definitely want it later. After quickly receiving this bag from Amazon I then purchased the matching shoulder pad that same day.

This Billingham bag is excellent for a small camera kit. It could also be used for up to 10x50 sized binoculars. I'm using it for a Fuji XT-2 and one extra lens. If you have more than that to carry then you need to go up to a Hadley. The quality is exactly as you'd expect from Billingham. I have numerous Billingham bags, some now 30 years old and the quality has remained consistent through those years. This bag really is worth the money and proves that you really do 'get what you pay for'.

OK, you might think this is a touch expensive..but quality things usually are!If you're looking at the bag you clearly appreciate quality and probably have a decent camera that you want to carry around and protect. I use mine for a Canon EOS M6 (mirrorless) and it's perfect, leaving just enough room for the small pancake lens I plan on buying next! The bag is comfortable, protects my camera well and is stylish too - what's more to want?If you fancy it, buy it!!

This is a wonderful small bag perfect for my Fuji mirrorless camera and a lens. There's a nice little pocket in the front for a few spare batteries and a small flash. It's totally waterproof and you know that your camera is safe and secure when you're out and about in all weathers and situations. Yes it is expensive but you do get what you pay for and this will last you for many many years.

The quality is of highest standard, built so well it’s unbelievable, very comfortable to carry, very light, looks classy and stunning, enough room for other stuff like extra battery or lens. Easy access to your camera. As you can see it doesn’t fit my Nikon D850 it’s too tight, but good for my other Nikon such as Nikon d3300 or Nikon d5600

Bag of all camera bags. I should know. Like most keen photographers I have a cupboard full of camera bags. Finaly after 40 years I have found ' the one'. Expensive yes, but it's worth it. I can fit my DLSR plus ultra wide angle lens and batteries in fine. PERFECT if you want to travel light. I'm to old now to carry around 40lb of gear.
