I've just received the 6 cup mocha maker for induction hobs and it is so much better than the cheaper thing from another manufacturer I was using before it. Why is it better? Well, it has a tried and tested design used since being invented by engineer Alfonso Bialetti in 1933, only the base water pot is now made of stainless steel so as to be compatible with induction hobs as well as those that the former models could be used on too. It has a spout that pour's correctly and the lid is sturdy with a properly thought out and strong hinge design. You can obtain replacement gasket/seals, filter plates, and filter funnels when needed. I got the 6 cup version which is more practical because of it's obviously larger capacity, but there is nothing preventing anyone from preparing just one or two cups worth if that is all that may be required sometimes. Now for the practical tip: The whole thing should be removed from the heat source once the gurgling and sputtering sounds start to die down, whereas many people leave it on the heat as if doing that is going to keep their coffee warm for longer. It is not designed for that purpose and all that happens is that, when the water has been pressurised by steam expansion to ascend up the funnels to mingle with the coffee grounds and then pool in the the top pot, the emptied bottom gets hotter and hotter resulting in the transference of undesirable fumes of overheated metal into the top section ( which can affect the taste of the coffee in there adversely ) and possible heat-damage to itself and the gasket seals ( it will be in contact with ) into the bargain. This particular mocha maker is really excellent and I hope to enjoy mine for many years to come.Eamonn

I've been using this moka pot for the last few months. Whilst I had expected to be using it daily for my morning cup I find that it has become a 'couple-of-times-a-week' treat. It's not because of the quality of coffee, which I find to be great- it's stronger than drip brewed or french press brewed coffee, but weaker than an espresso- but the hassle of cleaning it. The innards of the pot have an upright, un-detachable spout in it that leaves very little room to get to the bottom of the pot when cleaning.I've been using Illy's Monoarabica beans (available on subscribe and save for a good price) and getting lovely strong cups of coffee. One full pot will give you one single mug (if, like me,you are the only coffee drinker in the house you won't be bothering drinking it in anything smaller).I noticed another reviewer here received a silver pot rather than gold. Mine came arrived in a hue of what I can best describe as grey-gold, or possible 'Greyld', if you will. It looks very attractive and sits happily on top of my hob but I would agree the picture is misleading. Having taken a photo myself, it seems the pot does come up more 'golden' in pictures- spooky!

I have used this everyday since buying it - only 2 week but it feels sturdy and solid, hopefully last years if I look after it.Combined with a Aerocinno I have been able to make lovely coffeesI am now trying out new ground coffee styles and makes to see what is nicest - so far I have used the obvious Lavazza and Costa onlyThe coffee doesnt get a crema using this moka like on a full coffee machine but it does taste really nice, I am an espresso convert but I mostly use the espresso to make other coffee latte, capuccino using the aerocinno milk heater and frother

The coffee is great, but to get the best flavour it needs to be heated gently, in common with other moka coffee makers. I used boiling water in the bottom and oven gloves so I could avoid burning my hands. I tried setting 6 on my induction hob and left the lid open so that I could see the rate at which the coffee entered the top chamber, which doesn't happen immediately. If it spurts over the side it is too fast.It is easy to clean as the grounds compact and most can be removed with a spoon and hardly any to be rinsed away.

I had a Bialetti coffee pot for years. When I got my new induction hob it did not work. I bought another make to use but coffee didn't taste nice. Now Bialetti have made a stylish aluminium top with a stainless steel base coffee pot. Works great on my induction hob and makes good coffee. Follow instructions before using daily.

When I moved to an induction hob I missed my old Bialetti coffee maker, this is an update of that design, modern touches but most importantly works on induction hobs just as well as the old one did on gas. I'm very pleased with it

But a very good stovetop appliance. Just be careful not to use top setting for heat. 7 out of 9 is fine - I broke my last one by overheating it.
