I'm not sure if this review will make sense or not but here goes.I have this gate installed to have a door open which lets me supervise my house rabbits while i'm in another room. The gate is there to stop them coming into the room with my computer, lots of trailing cables and no room or reason to rabbit proof. It's a rabbit free zone. For our original resident rabbit when we got the gate, she stayed well away from it for months, never trying to open it only peeking through when she wanted attention. We adopted another rabbit a month ago, within a day of being released into the safe part of the house following bonding, he worked out that you need to pull the gate to open it. So he does so,at the bottom with his teeth and casually walks in until he gets put back in the other room. So now the gate is no longer rabbit proof, so I need to have the door closed when not in that room. He is a smart animal. If I tighten the gate at the wall more than it currently is, the magnetic locking mechanism gets stuck shut, it's currently easy to just pull open. Something I thought a rabbit would never contemplate doing.Also... the little plastic pull back clip at the top, on the handle does nothing? What is the purpose of it? It looks like a locking mechanism which WOULD be pet proof but frustratingly serves no purpose! The only thing stopping this gate being opened is the magnet in the middle.Looks like i'm going to have to buy another gate!

We love this gate. It is very easy to open with one hand (very handy when holding a baby) but I think it is also a lot harder for children to learn to open as they have to slide the little lever at the top as well as lift the gate at the same time so unlike other baby gates this gate should be effective for quite some time with children which is great - no escapees :)I found it easy and quick to install on my own. The auto-close works perfectly, we just put little doorstopper ornaments to keep it open when we want /need to (i.e. at night so our dog and cat can get to their water bowl in the kitchen while we sleep).I actually ordered the wrong size gate - this one is too small for our kitchendoor technically however it still does the job albeit it can be a little wobbly if me or my husband wiggle it so we will be ordering the correct size soon but this is my fault not the gates. It holds strong when our baby girl rattles it so that's good.We have already ordered another of these gates (next size up) to fit another of our doorways to prevent our little lady getting to the stairs. That gate is a perfect fit and extremely sturdy, auto-close works perfectly again, no issues with that gate either.Very happy customer and have recommended these gates to friends and family. Also very quick delivery service. Thank you

This is exactly what I was looking for and, as you can see from the photo, it’s very effective at keeping my puppy out of my lounge unless I want him in there!!Some reviewers have commented that it was easy and fast to assemble....but maybe they didn’t have the two extensions to fit on first! In order to do this you have to pull the fittings out of the stair gate itself to fit them onto the extensions and I found this really difficult to do. After much swearing I did manage to finally get all four out but my hands hurt for ages afterwards! That was the only reason it didn’t get that elusive 5th star. That was the only downside though. Once the extensions were fitted on the rest of it was easy and, much to my puppy’s dismay, it’s sturdy and well made. He won’t be getting through it or over it!Delivery was super quick too and there were clear instructions included (makes a refreshing change these days!!).I would definitely recommend this stair gate for effectively keeping destructive puppies out of your lounge but do make sure you’ve got someone with strong hands with you if you’re fitting an extension!!

Genius! This is great. Here's why .... I was looking at stair gates, reading all the reviews, and pondering the cheap supermarket ones. A lady I know told me of her daughter having an accident when a staircase got left open, so one that closed automatically really appealed. It swings shut and you can hear it "click" every time. AND IT IS POSSIBLE to close it silently, you have to lift the door as you close it back and then lower it into place, so no chance if waking a sleeping baby at night. This baby gate fits wider gaps than most on the market, and it comes with mounting cups and adhesive pads And screws so you have the choice of wether to drill or not. (they do say screws for the top of stairs). One other thing to mention, when it arrives it looks like the door doesn't fit properly into the surround, they are all like this, when you tighten the wheels to apply the pressure to hold it in place, the whole thing squeezes itself to a perfect fit. I'll definitely buy another for the bottom of the stairs. Also easy one handed operation is so handy when you are carrying a sleeping baby.

This is about the third gate we've tried, and probably our favourite, though it's not perfect. The things we liked:1) Easy to fit (always best to drill and screw these into the wall for a proper fit)2) Feels extremely solid, reassuringly so, and more so than other gates we've tried3) The auto-close mechanism is very useful, so much so that our other gate (upstairs) annoys us for not closing by itself.A great gate, then - but one of the problems is how difficult it can be to open. You squeeze back a lever, then lift the gate vertically - sounds very easy, but my wife really struggles to do it while holding our son. It's awkward and requires a bit of strength - though it does depend where you put the gate.Ours is on the third step up, so at head height, which means you have to reach up and pull it further up! Hope that makes sense.I'd buy it again though. It's the most solid of all the gates we've used.

This is not the cheapest baby gate available but for the money this is probably the best you can get without drilling yoru wallsPros:- one handed operation; if like me you need to go through the gate whilst holding the baby/toddler then believe me you *need* one hand operation. 2 hand operation- auto-lock feature; this gate will autmatically lock itself when you shut the door, all thanks to its ingenious magnetic locking mechanism (to be clear the locking is with a metal bar, which is pulled into place via a magnet, the door is held shut by the metal bar, not the magnet)- narrow size: this particular model was a rare version that fits our tiny stairs in our house- good sturdy mounting points with anti-loosening feature. This gate will not come loose, no matter how hard your toddler shakes itcons:- the metal bar across the floor at the bottom is a little higher than other baby gates that I have used

We bought this to fit our patio doors with them being so narrow; we were lucky as we could still open and close the door with the gate in place. It was a little irritating having to prop it open when we wanted to use it without the kids around, but only a small grievance. The problem came when I wanted to remove it; once it is tightened into place it is extremely hard to get it back off again, as you can't just unscrew it, the bits you turn to tighten the gate lock into place with each twist. I ended up having to literally put my full weight onto it and lean backwards, while my hubby shoved at it from the other side, so that it popped out of the doorframe. I dread to think what damage that might do to wooden or plaster surfaces! So be warned; once in place they stay in place! Does mean that the kids will never be able to get them to come off though :)

To open the gate, you have to pull back a catch and then lift the gate vertically. As far as I can see, no small child or dog would be able to do this. Other reviews say the gate just swings open or can be easily pushed open by a small dog - I can only imagine the gate hasn't been installed properly. I think the gate is therefore very secure, but there is a downside to this method - it needs a certain amount of effort to lift the gate and so it may not be suitable for some people and isn't ideal when carrying say a mug of tea.The only other downside to this gate is that the Extra Narrow version has (not surprisingly) a narrow opening to walk through, so it's slightly inconvenient.Overall,I think this is an excellent product for as reasonable price and would recommend it..

I bought the gate elsewhere but can say the gate works well for where i needed it. Which was top of stairs next to a window sill. other gates different do the job. i wasnt sure about the gate at first, instructions were useless but it only toook me 10 minutes to figure out on my own. Once i sorted it out it took a few secs to fugure it out how to open. didnt realise you had to lift it up, i didnt realise it shuts on its own, i only use that function when im ruunning my child a bath, as bathroom upstairs, its for my own peace of mind. otherwise i just get one of her toys and put it up against the gate. I just wish i had found these gates earlier before i bought my other 3 gates.would recommend them.

fitted this stair gate with ease following the paper instructions included. Applying some pressure on the gate, directly away from whichever screw your tightening allows for minor tweaks to the tightness of the screw, which is important to get the locking mechanism to function properly.Self locking system seems to work well with a strong magnetic pull. Note: if not mounted exactly vertical it wont allow the door to swing back correctly. Took less than 10 minutes in total to assemble, including changing direction of door swing (Phillips screw driver required for this).Have to slightly lift the door of the gate as pushing open to allow release of the self locking bolt.

Great gate, we have 2 now and will buy a third for another doorway! Easy and quick to install on my own. Very sturdy. Auto-close works perfectly, we just use a little doorstopper ornament to keep it open when we want/need to i.e. for the dog and cat to get to their water bowl at night. Easy to open with one hand while holding our baby girl, also though unlike other gates I don't think a child will be able to learn to open this very easily too soon due to having to slide the little lever at the top while lifting the gate - so no unexpected escapees which is great!Very quick delivery service and this item was purchased via Amazon Warehouse with no issues. Thank you

Let me start by saying that I am very pleased with this gate. It is the 6th gate in one year that I buy in order to try to get my puppies to stop following me everywhere (including the bathroom). They managed to break or escape to all the previous ones. This gate has been alive for two days so I don't know yet how long she will last but I will update my review in case. The gate is great, completely fits the description. It's sturdy and easy to install (even for a clumpsy girl like me). Overall I am really satisfied. My pups seem to love it as well ???‍♀️Ps: If you found this review helpful please put a like ?

I bought Bettacare standard-auto-close gate as well as a cheaper one Safe DeLuxe Stair Gate 90° STOP OPEN. I recommend this door for a family with 3-7 years kid given the fact that door will always auto-shut and may pose a bit of problem for a 4 year old to open this door on his own as I expect the older kids to do so while auto shut feature always works to keep my 1 year old safe. However, if you are just a couple with one kid to baby safe over the stairs you could use the cheaper Safe Deluxe stair gate as well which may sometime wont auto-shut properly if you have olders kids using that gate.

The gate itself is fine. However, when I installed it, it was a lot less sturdy along the top in comparison to my previous Lindham and Tippitoes gates. They are sturdy enough even against adults and are the same pressure method of fitment. However, they don't offer narrow enough gates for the door I needed them for.I realised on the packaging it says the Bettacare gate is only suitable for up to 24months old. That explains why it's not as sturdy and I'm a little disappointed it doesn't state that on the advert. So nothing wrong with the gate, just not suitable for the age I need it for.

Easy to fit - took about 10 minutes. The rubber pads seem to hold it securely in place. The best feature is the self closing mechanism which is cleverly designed. It seems to work partly through a magnetic catch which is clever, and it closes itself even if only left open a little bit. One handed operation is fairly easy but does require the mobile part of the gate to be lifted up vertically. This is slightly fiddly but not a major problem and is after all part of the self closing design. Doing the job so far and should that change I will update.
