First up, I had no problems. I have AMD Dual core, Nvidia 8800 and 2G ram. Runs like a dream, max settings, no lag. Runs fine across a Lan Network too. None of the people I played against had any problems (but we're all on Nvidia cards :-) ).So how does it play?Graphics:Visually BOS is somewhere around 2005-2006. It has vertex and pixel shaders, but they are only really noticable on characters, and the specular highlights are so OTT that the people look like plastic soliders. The soft particles are excellent though, and add a great deal to the feeling of immersion. Overall they're ok.Gameplay:BOS is unique, in that you cannot top up health, or grab ammo from downed enemies. Each kill earns you a different financial reward (more cash for headshots etc), which you can then use to buy more ammo for your guns. It might sound kind of frustrating, but actually it's sick. Unlike other run and gun games BOS forces you to be skillful, executing foes with the fewest bullets.Frustratingly, the same applies to save games, which means you can often get stuck having just clawed through a super hard section, having no money and no way to save. grrr.Things like the physics engine, and the sheer variety of scenery pull it through though. There are other nice touches, such as having allies with different skills, an engineer who can repair your armour etc. Cool weapons like acid grenades that melt armour, an SMG with a stun-flash on the front, or a shield with a slot in the front that you can hide behind and shoot a pistol out of..Multiplayer.First up, if you're playing it on LAN you're gonna need a NINJA PC for the host. We ran host on a Pentium Dual core 4Ghz with 4G ram and a Nvidia 8600, and still got Lag Spikes with 10 players. It's wicked fun though. You have 6 character classes to choose from, and earning cash from kills allows you to upgrade your chosen class to gain access to better weapons and armour. Each class has it's pros and cons, so you're forced to work as a team. Shame there's such a limited number of maps and modes really.Overall.Me and a buddy are playing through on Hard mode, and I can safely say it's one of the most challenging FPS games I've tried to beat. The focus on killing enemies quickly and efficiently will push you to be more and more deadly in your approach. It'll never be the next Stalker or Crysis, but it has a certain Je ne sais quoi, that'll keep you hooked.Reccommended.(PS, the story is total trash, but focus on the action!)

I've had this game for a while now, and I've played it on and off. It does have some issues - you really need the patches to get it to work at all - but it works on lower settings fairly well on my Nvidia FX5200 - see, you dont' need a high end card to get this game to work. The game is set on a war torn Earth - everything is centred around the war. Industry and commerce is gone, replaced by munitions manufacture and the Bet on Soldier league.I don't need to go into too much detail about the game - it's covered in another review very well - but I will say this: the only way the game will work is patched. If you can't get the patches, don't buy the game. But if you can get the patches,it's a fantastic game and I recommend it.
