I bought a pair of Berghaus Women's Expeditor AQ Trek Boots in November 2016. The waterproofing on these was never good from the beginning and have got to the stage at the merest sign of water, I get wet feet.Seeing the Supalite II GTX in the Black Friday Deals, reading the write ups and reviews, I decided to order these, so that I have 2 pairs of boots. The Expeditor boots were comfortable from day 1, no rubbing, could walk for miles without making my feet ache, they were wonderful. So I had expectations for the Supalites based on my experience with the other boots.I opened my parcel excitedly, rushing to try these on and wear them for a couple of hours around the house - they were a tight fit but seemed to be ok,nothing to give me any rise for concern. So I removed the tags and decided to keep them.On our first walk, the right boot irritated my achillies tendon and rubbed through the skin. I blamed my old walking socks and allowed the wound to heal.Going out in the Supalites again, I wore a better pair of socks and part way through the walk felt this crippling pain above my right heel - yes, you've guessed it, another wound in the same place. Luckily we carry plasters, which made the rest of the walk enjoyable and pain free.Next time I tried lacing the boots up tighter, all seemed well on an 8 mile walk until we were coming down a fairly steep gradient and the intermittent pain came back, when we stopped to check (limping at this point) it had rubbed to the point that my heel was bleeding badly. Again the application of the plaster helped and it healed over. Now feeling very fed up I did further research, people suggest the only way to buy walking boots is to go into a specialist store and get measured etc This wouldn't of helped as the rubbing doesn't happen immediately. Aargh! Then I found a website advising on a different method of lacing up your boots, to effectively lock your ankle in, stopping the movement of the boot along with the suggestion of wearing a second pair of thin socks as a liner sock.Bingo! I bought some bamboo socks from Amazon, laced the boots as suggested and have managed a couple of walks injury free! The boots feel secure and tough, they don't give complete grip on every surface (ice and greasy surfaces) and I am sure that these will become a terrific pair of walking boots now I've sorted out the issue of it rubbing my heel.

Having tried on various different styles and makes, I kept coming back to the Berghaus Supalite 2 GTX as the fit was the best. I always take a size 8 womens, and these just felt so right the moment my foot slipped into the leather lined boots. They are a dark brown leather - perhaps not very elegant in looks, but to me that is unimportant when your out walking - priority should be the best fit and support for your feet and meeting the needs of your type of outdoor activity. I've only done a few miles in them so far (as Amazon always as for reviews so soon after purchase), but they felt great. Very light on the foot as you would expect, given the name. Rubbed a bit in places but this is to be expected with new boots. The tongue is soft so when you bend your foot it doesnt cut in. I'm certainly not an up mountain range girl, but more of a rambler - Ridgeway path, woods, chalk hills, etc. I wanted something I could wear all day, not look too massive (as 8 on a girl do) be comfortable, waterproof and reliable. I've had a Berghaus waterproof coat for years, which is still as good as the day I purchased it, so felt I could trust the make. Also Berghaus provide a guarantee for every product for its lifetime - "the length of time any piece of kit can reasonably be expected to keep delivering the same great performance as when it was new ". I'm looking forward to walking many more enjoyable hikes in these boots. I get the feeling they will mold to my feet quickly. The laces did untie a couple of times on my first walk, but I've put that down to being new and shinny, and after all its only laces. If I was considering hard mountain terrain, then I would seek advice from experts, but for rambling about on holidays, weekend etc I'm hoping I've made a wise choice.

I was looking for some new walking boots as mine were just rubbing a bit on the toe and over the course of a lengthy walk this can become a real problem. I was delighted with these, as soon as I tried them on, I knew they were just the right size in terms of width and length. I have narrow feet and I didn't want a wide fitting - these said they were narrow/standard and that is perfect for me. I can see another reviewer has said they were on the narrow side, so I guess it depends how narrow your feet are.The leather is superb and the lacing very easy to do. The boots are substantial and you can tell they are really well made. I believe the Duchess of Cambridge wore a similar pair on a recent royal visit.(I believe Kate has the Hillmaster ones.)I wore these the day after they arrived for a 5K walk around a bird reserve, just to see how they wore. They were incredibly comfortable and I was very happy wearing them. My ankles felt very well supported. The weather was dry and sunny so I didn't get chance to try the waterproofing, but I am confident that they will stand up to wet weather.I bought the size I would normally buy in shoes and they fitted really well - roomy and with plenty of wiggle room at the toe - even with two pairs of socks on.I also bought the Brasher conditioning cream from Amazon to keep them clean and in good condition. Very pleased with my purchase.

I really like these boots but you need to check the sizing chart and, even then, be aware they are cut large. I always used to wear a size 7, which used to be a 41, then sizes changed and I tended more to being an 8, which had become the new 41. The 7 in these is a 40.5, so like the alignment for the previous sizing and actually a good fit, if still slightly on the large size (good for thick socks). They have leather uppers and a really soft interior that is cushioned and super comfortable to wear. My first outing was over slippery, wet surfaces and they gripped beautifully whilst also ensuring my feet stayed dry. The tongue is attached at the sides,so will help keep your feet dry in the event the ice is not as thick as you think it is and yields to a deeper puddle; always handy if you sometimes don’t think these things through properly when you are at the mid point of a walk...The glue holding the top to the sole is not particularly well finished, by which I mean I can see over spill, which is a little disappointing given the price point, but I can live with it (just). The boots are lovely and comfortable from the off and also lightweight in wear. They are a good option, just check you don’t come unstuck with the sizing and look at the chart, bearing in mind there is some allowance in the design to cater for socks, or wriggle room if you are between sizes.

Delighted with my new Berghaus Supalites. I previously had the original Brasher supalites which were my favourite boot ever. When they wore out after many years they were replaced with Salomon walking boots which were okay but I missed my Brashers. Once the Salomons semi-disintegrated and became frankly smelly I joyfully tossed them and was thrilled to stumble on these new supalites. Yes, the laces are a bit short, yes they aren't quite the same as the old version, not quite so deliciously soft and flexible as I recall, but they are still pretty terrific. I pondered on the size. In the end I ordered my normal shoe size because I don't go on mountain walks requiring super thick socks, normal socks are fine for my daily dog walks and more occasional 10 mile hikes. This worked out fine and the boots seem very well designed for my feet. The toe box is roomy I wore them straight from the box for a 9 mile walk and was totally comfortable. Leather boots suit us traditional types and they are so easy to clean. In my opinion they look great, I feel good wearing them. They are so comfortable that I've found myself wearing them around the house. I don't plan to try a new brand. While there are supalites on offer I'll be buying them.

My first supalite was made by Brasher and are almost 20 years. They are still usable except the soles came off last summer while in Lake District, 7 months before that, soles started flapping while walking in lake Bled. On both occasions, I bought super glue and it works, however I will now just use them in cities or towns, in case it happens again. My old boots were the best £100 I spent in early 2000 , it is super light and comfy and water proof. Used them on many terrain. My new supalite is now made by Berghaus and it feels even more comfortable than my old one. I’m so in love with them and they are so good looking ? I used them pretty much all day yesterday morning to evening (city only)and no pain nor blisters. Amazing. I’m a Nurse and wish I could wear this at work. Looking forward to using them in my next hike to Oman.To be fair, my flat is pretty warm especially during summer and there were many months when my old boots were not used, I’m guessing that contributed to the unglue ing of soles because the same thing happened to another shoes in the past. If you’re unsure, why not pop in to a shop where you can try them. I’m size 6UK and that’s what I ordered and fits perfect ??

These supalight boots were purchased to replace and old pair of Berghaus boots which finally fell apart after 15 years of wear. I have not been disappointed with them, they are extremely comfortable and I have been wearing them every day to walk my dog in preparation for wearing them for something a little more challenging in the next couple of weeks. They are a snug fit width wise but not uncomfortably so and I don't have particularly narrow feet. The major difference between these and my old boots is they are much lighter on the feet and the bonus is because they are slightly narrower I only need one pair of socks, which I do prefer. Having big feet for a lady (size 8)I'm sometimes forced to buy men's boots in order to get the necessary length and these are quite often wider than the ladies ones necessitating the wearing of 2 pairs of socks.I'm very happy with my purchase and getting them at a reduced price was also a bonus, I do love a bargain. These have been comfortable to wear from day one which is not something you particularly expect with walking boots, you usually have to break them in before doing any serious walking in them.

I am very pleased with these boots though I was a bit disappointed to hear that Berghaus and Brasher had 'merged'! I replaced my last Brasher pair after 12 years with another pair which were way inferior. The sides came away from the sole and I had to get them glued back. The heel wore down way quickly too after 18 months so no way could they be compared to the original Brasher's. Within a few days they looked like they were ancient. The only improvement was in the weight - nice and light. So I decided to try Berghaus - a great brand in my view - I have two of their jackets. Arghhhhh - discover after ordering that they and Brasher are one and the same! Made in China too but then most things are now.So far so good. The sides are properly glued - checked that first - and it is true, the laces are short but you can double knot them, just. Time will tell if the soles wear as quickly as the "Brasher's" but they were immediately comfortable. I got a half size bigger as the previous Brasher's seemed on the small side, but there was no need with these I would say. So far so good.

Replacement for worn out Brasher Supalites. I took them out of the box and went on a 5 mile walk. They remained comfortable throughout. The laces were a perfect length for double-knotting and didn't come undone. Over the years I have bought and discarded several models of hiking boots that gave me blisters and other foot pains. On most I had to use volumisers and insoles or thick socks to make them usable, and the problem was always due to the lack of half sizing, my low insteps and narrow ankles, and the fact that most manufacturers make women's boots too wide at the heel and ankle. The Brasher Supalites, with their half sizing and narrow heels fit my feet like gloves, which meant that my heel stayed firmly anchored and my feet did not ride up. The leather lining is pure luxury, and a rare thing these days. The only disadvantage with the Brashers was the rate of wear of the soles. The fit of this Berghaus version is just as good as the old ones. I just hope the Vibram soles are an improvement when it comes to durability.

I was replacing my 20 year old Brasher superlites after they had eventually ripped through use and age. I had resorted to wearing 'dog-poo' bags inside each boot to keep my feet drier! After a lot of searching, discovering Brasher/Berghaus link etc I ordered a new pair!! So excited, ordered a half size up even though my original boots were a 6 and had been comfortable from the get-go. First on, boots felt okay, looked brilliant. After 10 minutes walking round the house, both heels were rubbing blisters :-( Such a DISAPPOINTMENT, especially as had saved to open as Christmas gift from my 92 year old mother. (her advice...rub butter on the insides?!. I didn't obviously). Have returned and will have to try a 7.I still rate the boots.. I paid £100 for my originals and they've lasted 20 years. And the fact I can still get the same model and for only £50 more. Well, that seems like brilliant value to me. Also I shall still use my 'old faithfuls' for gardening! Don't be put off, just think carefully about sizing.

I get a bit fed up that nearly all footwear for men these days seems to be a wide fitting. Thank goodness for these boots. very comfy, lighter than my trainers. Did a three mile country run in them to see how they were at cushioning footfall. Just like running in trainers only without the wet feet! Which brings me onto waterproofing - no problems at all, and they all keep the feet nice and warm. they are made from a very soft leather, however i did get a blister on my left heel after the run - might bet more to do with my odd feet than the boots though.Cons: not sure about the height of the back of the boot - its kind off cut back. Def not a high top.On steep declines the back of the boot presses onto my achilles in a not too pleasant way. Never had this issues with high top boots. All in all a good buy. Once the back of the boots soften up, and my left foot toughens up, they will be spot on

I ordered the Berghaus Supalite II Gtx on Feb 1, 2017. It was used sparingly at first and it had a very soft squeak. As time went on, it started to get louder and louder. It is now between 80-100 miles old and it sounds like the bullfrog in the BUD-light beer ad. The automated 30 day return/replace policy caused there to be no online return options. I contacted Berghaus, but they referred me back to Amazon. I eventually found a customer services phone number: 0800 279 7234. In less than 10 minutes, I was sorted out with a returns label and a replacement on its way. About the boot: This model is the equivalent of the Brasher Supalite. It is a fantastic boot and Berghaus has improved on it by adding a Vibram sole.I sincerely hope that the replacement is silent and that it will last more than the 1000 miles the Brashers did, which for a Supalite boot is exceptional.

Been walking the dog for an hour every day, for the last 8 years. Through my local woods.Previously bought big brand gortex boots around the same price. But none all leather!Every pair have given has given up the ghost between 7 and 14 months. With replacement pairs (some under warranty failing over the same period). They normally go around the toe reinforcement and down the outer edge of the boot where your toes bend. These new boots fitted well (size 9) and took about two weeks of walking, to bed in.After which they have been extremely comfortable, completely water proof and 7 months on, show little wear.I have regularly cleaned and treated with natural beeswax. These are without question thebest boots I've ever bought and look forward to many more comfortable miles and years of walking in them.Couldn't recommend these enough.

Still getting to know these boots as have not really had opportunity to do any real walking in them... Next week, Waitakere Ranges, New Zealand.. So far though - fit as I would expect. The extremely light weight of these boots is perfect for me - I'm a slight frame and heavy boots give me all kinds of issues. The quality of the boots is very nice - nice soft leather, good rubber soles, comfortable in-sole. Boot feels sturdy and steady. Lace length fine for me. Really looking forward to breaking them out properly - I don't imagine I'll have any issues - have so far just worn them for half hour/hour walks, and didn't need any wearing in for those short distances. Delivery of the item was bang on time, very pleased with Amazon service/delivery/updates. Thanks!

Well, I’ve been through so many wellies and I’ve got a pair of fabric walking boots which constantly get soaked. my walking buddy kept going on about how I should get a pair of these boots. I was like naaaa I’ll keep going through my wellies it’s fine.Well after weeks of persuading her boots have lasted her for years through mud water and whatever else, I finally gave in and brought a pair! They came today! I was quite excited so I tried them on straight away! Size 6.5 fit perfectly and feel comfy with one pair of socks on! Brought along side some gaiters I can’t wait to try them out now! and hopefully they will last me a good few years instead of spending fortunes on wellies each year! They look and feel great!Very happy!
