HDMI was perfectly usable in its commonly employed 1.2 configuration that has been around for a few years but when 4k-capable TVs, monitors, game consoles and other devices became available the system became stressed. Vertical refresh rates with equipment accepting or providing 4K output were limited to 30 Hz at best and some devices (and cables) struggle to attain even that. The result is that displays can appear jerky and, if playing all but the simplest of games that support 4K, others become almost unplayable and any degree of realism is removed. HDMI 2, and now 2.1, removes that limitation and allows 4K video at 60 Hz as a minimum. Many of the feature-rich games were often limited to 1080p in order to utilise the very high refresh rates of 120 Hz or more to preserve the experience although via alternative video connections. Older HDMI cables were almost thick enough to be rigid and, rather than hang down, some rested horizontally when unsupported. Some were also crazy expensive, up to £60 or more for one of the same length. The "Belkin Ultra High Speed Premium HDMI 2.1 Cable, 4K/Dolby Vision HDR, Optimal Viewing for Apple TV, 2 m/6.6 ft - Black" is the type of cable demanded to obtain the higher refresh rates and best possible viewing or playing experience across a wide range of hardware, and not only Apple TV or Dolby Vison HDR users. Some desktop and laptop computers now support HDMI 2.1, primarily those which are 'gaming' models. This cable is of a length that will usually work well with most set-ups but longer and shorter versions are also available if needed. The cabling is also rather thin and extremely flexible and should not be too difficult to hide behind equipment or through cabling channels where they exist. There is a significant price premium to pay in this instance, part of which may be attributable to its branding and part to performance, a multiple increase over a standard HDMI cable of the same length. The cable can obviously also be used with older HDMI supporting a previous standard although you will only see the original performance without any additional benefits. As far as can be seen without relevant test equipment, the shielding is very good and there is zero evidence of RFI or other electrical interference artefacts in its video or audio signals. Used with a 4K capable high-end laptop and 4K monitor with some games of his choice and movies of my own, the video was solid and stable with no apparent artefacts; audio may have shoiwn some minor improvements but we were not fully convinced. The owner of the hardware was pleased with the improvements the cable offered and with its greater physical flexibility than that previously used which once briefly allowed 60 Hz refreshes but not since. He asked to keep this but that wasn't part of the trial. While expensive, it provides a guarantee of performance. There are lesser-priced alternatives but this will probably suit the more demanding user.

You really can't go wrong with Belkin accessories, they're so reliable. This is another great release - a high quality HDMI cable with support for 4K and HDR.It's true that 'regular' HDMI cables are in fact mostly the same, barring the quality of construction; but in order to view 4K (not 1080p) content and to take advantage of High Dynamic Range (HDR), you will need a newer cable that fits this specification.4K at the moment is somewhat hit and miss, because like the early days of 1080p, not all content is native 4K resolution. Put simply, the source of the video may not be 4K in the first place - some studios and providers simply upscale the picture. However, upon watching some 4K Blu-rays,the difference is considerable on a large television.HDR on the other hand will appeal to a smaller audience. Having a wider range of colours is pleasing if you enjoy cinematography and want to see images the way they were originally intended, but it also comes down to the quality of your TV. Generally however, the biggest differences are in shadow and highlight details, which are greatly improved. The cable itself is well-made and fully compatible with any HDMI device; though I will reiterate that you need either 4K/HDR content, a 4K TV and/or HDR compatible TV to actually take advantage of it.

The cable feels like (quality wise) CAT6, But its not quite as rigid as Cat6, it feels, sleek compact, and well constructed,it does have a decent amount of flex,And does Not feel like a,(Big cheap China, Mickey mouse, Thick dielectric cable, with really, 4 strands of wire).Short and sweet, Thumb sized, Flexible plug termination, that don`t, Hang out the sockets.Made in china, printed on the packet of course, but it`s clearly NOT a Shiney Shenzhen 5.99 special. It has made very light work, Of replacing my Chunky heavy 120cm DVI cable,Now i can move the Tower from under the desk, and still have some cable slack. No problems paired with my RX-570 @ 1080, No issues with Super resolution eather.Yes buy it,if you wanted a Good Quality, no BS Cable, And dont want to cry, when you open the flex to find its,a rubber dong cable Speshzial.AT a Price, But Very Nice, No tears.(Eating Pot-Noodles for the rest of the week.)Belkin Ultra High Speed Premium HDMI 2.1 Cable, 4K/Dolby Vision HDR, Optimal Viewing for Apple TV, 2 m/6.6 ft - Black

The price may seem a little on the high side but then this is designed to deliver the better performance available if you have a 4K setup, and deliver it does do; picture clarity is excellent. It’s backwards compatible (but if you’ve already upgraded why go backwards? Cheaper cables can give just as good results on non-4K systems). And the other beauty of the thing, apart from any crawling you might have to do, (that’s the crawling to fit the cable, not the one where you try explaining to your spouse why you blew the budget on a stupidly expensive telly) is it’s effortless… simply just plug n play.

Now the HDMI 2.1 cable is designed for use with the newer 4K generation upwards. Whilst you can use it really on any HDMI device, it has been created to help with the bigger data demands of the new wave of TVs and Blu-ray's etc.Streaming at such a high speed is essential for the ultra HD content as it will eliminate any lag you will encounter playing from a device. It's also great for the newer consoles like the PS4 Pro and Xbox 1s giving you the full HDR experience lag free.Whilst it isn't essential for us all, those moving into 4k and upwards need this...

This cable is not the thickest or most heavy duty I've seen but it does seem like a good construction. It is quite expensive for a 2m cable but if you want good quality 4k images that will last and future proof your electronics for the next standard this is a decent product that gives a great picture on my TV with a UHD bluray player. The lack of gold plating and any cable stress relief hopefully allows higher quality in the cabling but I can't help thinking that as 4k becomes more predominant that higher quality less costly cables will be available.

I had issues with my Apple TV 4K dropping the HDMI connection with an Amazon Basics HDMI lead. Was just about to buy the 2m 8K version of this cable on Amazon to see if this helped, but then noticed this exact same cable on the Apple site for 30 quid. Got to be the first ever item to actually be cheaper direct from Apple! So I bought it there instead. So far, problem solved, no drop outs. Can't say that I've noticed an improvement in picture clarity as it was pretty good before and remains so.

I had at least 3 or 4 different cables to connect an AppleTV 4K to my TV, all of which said they were "High Speed" and all of which gave problems with the ATV at the highest picture quality settings (would work OK for a short while then picture would flash etc)I've never paid this much for an HDMI cable but decided to give it a go (hell, I can always return it, I thought) but it's perfect. Allows the ATV to run at its best quality settings and hasn't faltered once.Worth the extra.

I Had been using a cables from Argos but the frame rate kept going down and up, which was making it hard to get precise shots in Call Of Duty. Noticed an imidiate differents once this cable was pluged in. My tv is by no means a high end one, only a full hd toshiba but the hdmi managed to give me stable frame rate whilst being used with an older version of hdmi which I haven't experienced with the other hdmi cables I use. Would 100% recommend.

I have just hooked this up with my main 4K television (Sony) and a PS4 Pro. Being unconvinced by expensive HDMI cables before I’m pleased to say I can see a definitive improvement in quality with this cable connected. The picture is improved. It’s a superb quality cable too. It’s not cheap but in this instance I’d certainly recommend this cable if you want to extract the best quality from your hardware.

One of the cables worked as expected with Sky Q. The second cable, which had damaged packaging, wouldn't work with an Apple TV 4K and had to be returned. I tested the other one in the Apple TV and it worked perfectly, so clearly a faulty or damaged cable. These particular cables are the only ones recommended by Apple to gain the best picture (4:4:4) from the Apple 4K device.

Aside from limited length - JUST about long enough for my setup - there is nothing not to like here. Sturdy, well made connectors tough cable and worked perfectly with my HD setup. I have a friend with a 4K rig and who has had problems with noise - have given him this to use and he reports that, so far, no problem - seems to have cured it! Will update if anything changes.

Bought this HDMI cable for some connectivity issues with my Apple 4K box. Everything is now stable. Both these cables are in fact HDMI 2.1 spec 8K ready (the images show old 4K packaging) The more expensive version has a braided outer cable however the 4K one is IMO better as the cable is thin and flexible. Build quality is very good.

Although I found from looking at other reviews that there was a higher setting for the Chroma on the latest Apple TV , I’m not seeing a great improvement in the picture. I use the goslings falling down a cliff in Life Story. No great improvement on my earlier version fast hdmi. I think it’s chasing goblins, myself.

I have replaced my Xbox X HDMI lead with this one. the picture seems better and motion seem to be a lot better I thought they might have made it gold plated but seems better even though its not 2.1 seems like its the future I would recommend it I have also heard about a Uni lead might be worth checking
