There are very few products that have changed my life as much as this product.Over the lockdown period, I began suffering extreme eye pain. I put it down to old lenses and I thought it was eye strain. I could not get to see a doctor, nor an optician. I thought I would need new glasses, as I suffered from bloodshot eyes and muscle pain. Eventually, after about 8 weeks I was "allowed" a phone call with a medical practitioner (not a doctor) and she suggested I was suffering from dry eye. I was prescribed Evolve solution, Liquid Tears and some other saline type solution. They gave momentary ease but the pain soon came back. When the lockdown was over I went to the optician and they diagnosed extreme dry eye.I had also damaged the surface of the eye from the dryness.I went back to the doctor (on the phone) and they messed around with different saline solutions but nothing was really working. The original opticians had made a mistake with my new lenses and so I was forced to go to another optician for a second opinion on strengths. After the test, he showed me this product which he was selling at £14 a bottle. He told me that it was the best product on the market for dry eyes. My doctor refused to prescribe it, but they were happy to continue to issue me with 3 different, almost useless products. The liquid comes in a strange-looking container. Once you get the hang of how to dispense the liquid, it is so easy to use and it really controls the dosing. The first time I put the drops in, my eyes stung like crazy. They went red and offered no solution to the pain. The next day I decided to try again and I applied it four times that day and used 3 drops in each eye. By the night time, there was no pain. By the fourth day, my eyes were back to normal and felt lubricated. I can only presume this liquid coats the eyes in some sort of lubricant, as the effect is amazing. I still put it in my eyes 4 times a day, but there is no pain, I can focus without muscle pain and at night I do not need to apply a night gel. This has truly changed the condition I was suffering from. It has not resolved the cause of the dry eye, but the symptoms and pain have disappeared. It really is amazing.Highly Recommended.

6-7 weeks back I felt I had "something" in my eye.I kept asking my husband to look but he said he couldn't see anything. Then strange visions happened, just as if I was looking through a windscreen and the wiper came across like a thinnish grey squiggly line. The cloudlike forms developed and a patch of haziness through my usually good vision, even though I am over 65yrs old.I then went to see my Optimetrist straight away, and after many tests etc she said I had a huge floater with dirt behind my eye.My first reaction was "what is a floater?".Oh it is something that can happen when the jelly substance breaks away behind the eye,and it is the shadows of this debris I could see through my vision asit switched from side to side. Then I had to go to the hospital to be more thoroughly checked by an eye surgeon as I am a diabetic (usually I am a well behaved one that sticks to low sugar levels below 7 normally). All tests done, even froze the front of eye, they looked and did every test possible.Thankfully my retina was OK,as floaters can sometimes tug at the retina and tear it which is dangerous to the vision. The eye surgeon told me to look out for a curtain dropping over my sight and strong flashing light.Since then I have been at rock bottom with depression,as I love to look at the sky,and enjoy views on the walks with my little dogs.I have worn sunglasses while out, still do as this lessens the sensation.I bought about 10 different brands of drops to try, including the one the hospital gave me Luma care.None seeemed to help. Then I bought something called Hyco San extra and guess what after a few days my floaters are less bothersome,I do not keep grabbing for my sunglasses all the time.I would say they have halved in density, and my eye feels more relaxed.I want to tell everyone who suffers with Floaters and dry eye, as Hyco San extra is soemthing special. Please try it,as I have, and I am sure you will find relief from this depressive complaint.I am now off to buy another in case I run out! What a life saver!

Finally a possible solution to blepheritis. If you have, this as I do you, will know the misery of it. This product was introduced to me by my optician and I bulked at the price. I also understand it is not on prescription. However, the method I now use has on this occasion knocked out an emerging attack in two days and therefore is worth the money.Method1. Hycosan night cream before bed, use sparingly as too much and eyes hurt, I just rub on eyelashes to keep soft as with my attached my eyelashes become super spiky. I am not sure if you are meant to rub and make sure hands super clean as blepheritis is a bacterial infection so dirt will make it worse.2. Wake up clean eyes with Blephaclean wipes nothing else for me will do3.As I read and do stuff as soon as I get up so at this point I do pop in a drop of hycosan extra, extra is for me the best. The bottle is a bit fiddly to get used to but easy when you know how to use the pump action idea.My bleph is definitely linked to wearing glasses and excessive screen time.4. Buy a recommended eye warmer. These are like black out masks for travelling but you warm them up in to the microwave, you must follow the instructions as they get super hot fast. I always test first. These masks warm up the eye and surrounding area and make the tear ducks from the dry eyes warm up and start working better.5. I then apply hycosan drops. I know you should not apply them twice in a short time, but I do have a gap between waking, reading and then applying the mask.Religious adherence to this can stop my Blepheritis in its tracks and give much needed relief.Good luck, I hope my review helps other sufferers. The cons of this are the cost which is about £35 - £40 to get started but after trying other cheaper methods I am afraid only this has worked effectively.

My optician has always been concerned that my eyes suffer from chronic dryness, so that its difficult to see in the mornings. After 3 eye operations - 2 for cataracts and one to improve a muscle - my doctor added eyedrops to my regular prescription and all was improved. Then a couple of years ago, for some penny-pinching reason my eye drops were changed - the new ones were difficult to apply - you got what seemed to be a spoonful at a time - not a drop. I made it my intention to complain to the doctor - then forgot and with Covid it wasn't possible to speak to a doctor.Three months ago I went to my optician for a regular check and he immediately pounced on the state of my eyes - he said I musthave different eye drops and the best he could do then was to sell me the recommended drops and tell me to ask my doctor to use those regularly.SO - the drops were Hycosan Extra and I have used them at least twice daily since then. Eyes are much better, drops are perfect and so easily applied. Just as the optician promised, they lasted well over 3 months at my normal dosage, and he could tell me that even though I was paying, the new drops were much more economical than the other ones.So - I still have to sort my doctor and prescription out sometime. Meanwhile, as I will now be away for a week and my first Hycosan drops have been used, I needed new drops quickly. A quick investigation and I was delighted to find I could get Hycosan from Amazon. Perfect service and delivered so swiftly.I can totally recommend Hycosan Extra. - sight is important and Hycosan drops are so good.

I love these drops. They are about the only drops that actually work with my sore dry eyes. They are quite thick which I love. The bottle is so easy to use and dispenses each drop perfectly. I touch my eyelashes with the tip of the bottle (so that I know that the bottle is in the correct place) with my thumb next to the nozzle and use my index and middle finger to push the plunger. Works every time. I have none of the drops running down my face unlike the other bottles and I’ve never had a problem with the drops not coming out of the bottle (unless the bottle is nearly empty. Then I just stand it upside down after use until empty). These drops lasts for months once opened.Other bottles are hard to control and I often have the drops running down my face so I’m lucky if the drops last more than 4 weeks. I’ve noticed that some people have complained about them receiving Hycosan unsealed. Hycosan does come in sealed boxes. I’m guessing that these seals are broken in transit when the packaging is squashed. Not packing them in those flat boxes prior to shipping would help avoid this happening so often. All eye drops in the same type of bottle as Hyvosan do take a bit of time priming on first use which in my opinion is good. If you don’t have to prime the bottle when you first use it then that’s a sure sign that it’s been used or tampered with so avoid.

Not my first time using these because they are very good. I like that they stay longer compared to other dry eye remedies that have to be discarded after 30 days. I have tried cheaper ones going back and forth between these and others but I just finally settled for these. The proof is in the results, I have a floater in the right eye and suffer from dry eyes. These have helped so much so that I hardly notice the small floater and has relieved my dry eyes symptoms. However, I would be remiss, if I don't mention that since my dry eye problems are a result of starring at a computer screen for longer periods of time, I am using these eye drops in combination with changes to how I use the computer.I use a small free software that alerts me to take 10 seconds breaks every 15 minutes and perform eye exercises like; eye rolling, blinking, tightly closing my eyes and looking our through the window to focus eyes on distant objects. The short 10s breaks/ eye exercises are followed by a 4-minutes break every after 50 minutes that requires me to leave the computer station and stretch my eyes. My eyes are a lot better now and the dry eyes problem is very minimum and I have noticed a huge difference to when I used the eye drops without changes in how I work.

I have a dry eye problem (damaged goblet cells) that I was inadvertently making worse by using eye drops with Benzalkonium chloride (BAK) preservative. None of the many GPs and eye specialists I have dealt with mentioned any problems with preservatives! It's early days, but these do feel better in the eyes, but they are rather gloopy, so some people might want to go for the non 'extra' version. These have no preservatives but will last for months after opening due to the special COMOD delivery system built into the bottle.[...]"The single most critical advance in the treatment of dry eyes is the elimination of preservatives. ** Benzalkonium chloride (BAK) **, the most common preservative used in eye drops, can damage the ocular surface of the eye producing conjunctival inflammation, tear film instability, corneal cytotoxicity and a decrease in the density of goblet cells and mucus production. Intermittent use of preserved drops in healthy eyes is unlikely to be a problem. However, in patients with moderate to severe dry eyes with little fluid to dilute the preservative, or requiring frequent administration of eye drops (six or more times a day), preservative-free products should be used."

I've had severe dry eyes since having Laser Eye surgery five years ago and possibly before that. For the last four weeks my eyes have been dreadfully painful with burning, itching and an uncomfortable feeling of tightness all day, every day. I have spent a fortune on eye treatments and drops all with little or no effect. I purchased Hycosan Extra from Amazon as just another desperate attempt for relief of a recent flair-up but I'm actually over the moon with this product. Within two to three days of using my eyes feel so much more comfortable, the itching has stopped and the burning is barely noticable. They feel so much more moist in the morning upon waking and I'm now able to use the computer for longer periods of time. The best part is that I can now wear mascara again (which I'd reluctantly given up on) without the horrible sore, dry feeling that I was experiencing. I'm so pleased and relieved to find something that actually works as I was desperate to find some relief as this can be such a painful condition that takes over you're life. Its so easy to use just press the top and it dispenses one perfect drop for each eye! Amazing!

I suffer with dry eyes having a thin tear layer and these were recommended following my eye test. I was told to use at least four times daily and in time the tear layer will improve and I can reduce the frequency. I've tried cheaper versions but none have matched up to these. These have an oily consistency and since using these I haven't had anywhere near as many irritated eye days. I also suffer with glare at night and this has also improved since using these.I find the design of the pump excellent, just press it and it dispenses exactly one drop so you don't end up with it running all down your face. It has no added preservatives that the other squeeze style bottles have as these do not drawer air into the bottle (compare the lables),I was told by the optician these preservatives can also cause dry eye! and counteract using the squeeze type drops. The expiry date is also 6 months so you don't end up throwing half unused away, there is a very useful label on the bottle where you can write the date they were first opened. Exceptional eye drops, will never buy anything else now.

This is my favourite dry eye product. My eyes have been getting dryer over the past few years.Once you get used to the dispenser, it is very easy to use-I prefer it to normal squeezy bottles. It doesn't dispense too much product (there is the odd time it dispenses too little and you have to dispense extra). It is slightly higher strength than other over the counter eye drops (stronger than the normal Hycosan).Long life of 6 months, this means I can keep separate bottles at home and work without worrying about wasting any, as I would use it all before 6 months. For those of you who wish this product was on prescription, Hylo Fort is the same product in the same type of dispensing bottle, made by the same manufacturer (Scope Ophthalmics), and this is available on prescription at the GP. Hylo Tear is the equivalent of the normal Hycosan. And The Hylo versions are 10ml bottles so even buying them may work out cheaper. I only just realised this so haven't had a chance to compare, but had previously noticed Hylo Forte is more expensive, but I guess it works out cheaper for the NHS.

Product: I have age-related dry eye - I've used many different brands of eye drops and these are the most soothing, feel most lubricating, never sting like some have. The bottle: do not be put off by reviewers who have not managed to get on with the different way this dispenses. I agree it is strange, BUT, very much worth persevering with. With my first bottle (and I must be on my 4th or 5th now) I could not work out how to hold it, I poked myself in the eye more than once, and managed to lubricate my cheek more than my eyeball. That was just Day One. I persevered and now would never, ever, ever go back to the 'traditional bottle upside down' dispensing. This is accurate, hygienic and I only dispense one drop at a time, rather than sending two thirds down my cheek. The trick for me (if I can describe it - I am right handed) is to put my left hand across my face, and my right hand (holding the bottle) is stabilised by resting my right wrist on my left hand. A bit like how an artist might use a rest with a long paintbrush if that makes sense?

Very good eye drop, perhaps the best I have ever used. 1. It can be easily put into my eyes thanks to its genius design of package. I can hardly put eye drops into my eyes, and the optician recommended this drop because it is easier to pump in. I was doubtful about this, but it turns out very handy to use. And the bonus is that you put exactly one drop into your eyes each time, so it actually lasts longer than other drops. 2. It is so soothing and thick. Unlike other drops which I have to use every hour, I only use this drop 3 times a day and it works amazingly. I don't feel something in my eyes and no longer painful eyes. 3. It is preservative free! This is exactly what I am looking for.I might have kind of sensitive eyes and my eyes got irritated even when I use Lacrilube ointment (which is also preservative-free). But I feel perfectly comfortable when using this. I know different people feel different when it comes to eye drops, but if you feel so disappointed about other drops, do give this a try. It may surprise you.

Got this recommend for my more then a week dry morning and occasionally evening eyes. These drops have almost gel like quality to them despite being liquid (that is the best I can describe it). They feel luxuriously lubricating in the eye(I know how odd it sounds but bare with me there). Every time I use a drop I rub my eyelid gently to distribute the drop all over my eye. It is a bit harder to see for about 3 mins but its well worth it. The relief is sensational, I honestly wasnt expecting that. I have severe anxiety and had a very rough week (cried a lot) and my eyes were burning me like hell. Just 2 drops in each eye and I was ok for hours! Truly remarkable! And I am sorry but for all those who say how dificult it is to use..How shall I say it nicely?.. if you find yourself unable to follow 3 simple steps then unless you have dementia or you are missing a hand or had a bad stroke then I would strongly advice you to learn how to read and do physiotherapy for hand and finger coordination. Moaners will aways moan, right?

I have suffered with dry eyes for years now and have tried loads of different gels and drops with varying degrees of success. These are more pricey than most but worth it I think. The one drop dispense system takes a few attempts to perfect if you haven't used this type before, but once mastered is very quick, easy and precise with no wastage. You do not need to store them in the fridge which means you have them in a place that will remind you to use them every day. I use mine every morning and every other night along with Vita-Pos Eye ointment 5g (see my review on this) and have noticed a definite improvement as my eyes are less red and feel much more comfortable. Because of the dispensing system, the drops remain sterile and based on this usage a bottle lasts me around 2 months. Given that many other eye drops are meant to be discarded a month after opening, this makes Hycosan Extra quite good value for money and I would definitely recommend you give these a try if you are looking for some dry eye relief.

After suffering with dry eyes for about 6 years and trying lots of different kinds of drops, this, for me, is the best Ive tried. Since December one eye was really suffering (central htg and winds not helping !!), and this eye had been watering 24/7 - I would sit at the desk at work constantly dabbing my eye. The normal drops that I had been using for 3 years didn't make any difference at all - not sure why my eye decided it didn't like them all of a sudden!. I saw this product on my last visit to the opticians and thought I would source it on line and give it a go. After the first day my eye stopped watering and both eyes feel "normal". I only have to put one little drop in each eye and it lasts for hours. It is a magic formula for me!!!! It makes me forget that I have dry eyes :) VERY HAPPY. I also find the dispensing pot very easy to use (took a couple of goes at first to get used to it)
