Hydrogen peroxide has long been used as a disinfectant for a range of applications. Its broad-spectrum effect against germs, viruses and fungal spores make it a suitable solution for providing excellent cleaning power. There is, however, one small catch: Hydrogen peroxide is an irritant to exposed moist body parts, especially the eye. Exposing the eye to any peroxide solution is almost certainly going to necessitate a medical response to neutralise the offending substance and stop the excruciating pain.To avoid a painful daily routine when used as a contact lens solution, the peroxide is placed into a vessel with a catalytic disc. This disc is coated in platinum and causes a decomposition reaction of the hydrogen peroxide over a period of a few hours, turning the hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Owing to the fact that the decomposition takes a few hours to complete, any organisms in the contact lens case are exposed to a concentration of hydrogen peroxide that causes a breakdown their cells, thus neutralising them. This kills the vast majority of germs, viruses and other nasties.Bausch and Lomb have added sodium cholride (salt) to the solution so that when the hydrogen peroxide is neutralised, you are left with an eye-friendly saline solution. There is also a buffering agent (sodium phosphate) to ensure that the acidity of the solution remains constant.I have quite sensitive eyes, which is why I use a peroxide product. I am quite intolerant to the multipurpose solutions on the market, which cause redness and irritation. Despite the harshness of the actual peroxide, its decomposition to a preservative-free saline means that I don't have to worry as much about putting chemicals in my eye. The only downside is that whenever I take my contact lens out to clean them, I can't put them back in for six hours; once they're out, they're out.

I think there is nothing better for eye health than peroxide solutions. The peroxide is the best sterilising agent available and pretty much guarantees you won't get an eye infection due to improper sterilisation. I find it non irritating and the lenses stay cleaner for longer using this. I use B&L Purevision Multi-Focals and always use this if I can get it.Some tips I picked up over the years and I see gradually the instructions reflect some of this.1. Use the solution with a little in the palm of the hand and rub/clean the lens before placing in the case, they say the bubbles removes the protein, but not really, rubbing is quite essential....at least every 2 or 3 days.2.Always invert the case for a second or two after putting the solution in3. Always check the thread on a new case for loose bits of plastic and rinse the case out (fill and shake) with peroxide, then empty before the very FIRST useI can understand people have problems if they don't read the instructions, or accidentally rinse with this and then place the lens in the eye, but once your used to it, it's a lot easier than futzing around with non peroxide based systems.

I have very sensitive eyes and I find this solution works very well. You need to leave the neutralisation to occur for 6hrs which is pretty standard. Another nice feature of EasySept is the case that comes with the solution. It has clear left (green) and right (white) sides so you can still get your lenses in the correct side in the dark, is a really nice fit and I think if I remember rightly the solution doesn't leak out of the top of this case which means I can take the case containing some neutralised solution (just keep what was in there from the night before) with me in my pocket and put my contact lenses in there for a bit. This is really useful if you want to go for a quick sleep on a plane, train or just want to take your lenses out for a bit in the day. The only problem I have had with this is incomplete neutralisation if I use a case for more than 1.5 months...residue builds up and the case becomes less effective at neutralising the peroxide solution. Each 1months worth of solution comes with it's own case so this shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not giving this product a bad rating or complaining about it as once you know how, it does the jobAll I want to make clear is that the first time I used it, following the instructions to the letter, it burned my eye. Let's not be a drama queen here, yes it stung, but I ran my head under the tap for a few seconds, got it back out of my eye and it settled down quite quickly. How did this happen if you read the instructions? I hear you say. Well, as mentioned before, this was my first time so was not familiar with the mechanics of the product, or exactly what the neutralising disc looked like. The little disc had in fact fallen out when I first opened the tub (unlucky!)and as I didn't realise it should have been there in the first place I went merrily on my way to putting hydrogen peroxide into my eye via my freshly cleaned contact lens! Not sure if it fell out because it wasn't properly locked down but first time users, make sure it's in place! It's dark grey in colour and looks like a little cog, very obvious once you know what it looks like!

Got this the other day and I am vary pleased with it. It is not like other contact lens solutions so make sure you read the instructions first. This stuff contain peroxide and comes with a lens case that has a neutralising disc thin at the bottom of it. You poor the solution into the case and you start seeing a slight fizzing effect. You then place your lenses into the holder on the underside of the cap and screw it into the liquid. You need to leave it there for at least 6 hours so that the neutraliser does its job. Do not squirt this stuff onto the lens and then put it straight into your eye. One reviewer said that the manufacturers do not make this clear enough but they certainly do; on the outbox,on the printed instruction sheet inside and on the bottle itself. So long as you follow the guide this stuff is safe. I have had no proplems with putting my lenses into my eyes when they have been in this stuff for over 6 hours. It cleaned my lenses vary well (I use monthly disposables which I take out every night).Recommended.

I am intolerant to some lens solutions but Easysept is great. No rubbing or fiddling about. Just pop the lenses in the cage, rinse over the cage with solution for a couple of seconds, fill the container to the line, screw down the lid/cage, give it a shake. Next morning clean lenses. I usually rinse with saline before putting them in because my eyes are sensetitve. But nothing could be simpler. I was worried the solution would run out before the months end, but there is plenty in the bottles. With regards to the person who burnt her eyes, always, always consult your optician before doing anything different. Ask questions. Get advice. Ingorance is not bliss when it comes to your sight.Read the instructions!!! Use your eyes for what they are intended. If your not sure, leave the lenses out, put on your glasses.Ted

I've been using this over 2 years now and prefer it over the standard solutions. My routine is to rub it into my contacts (like you do with normal saline solution) so that it gets into the micro holes (my Optician recommended this). I then proceed as normal with the EasySept and leave it overnight. In the morning i use my contacts "tweezers" and place my contacts in the normal contacts cases filled with fresh saline solution. I then go about brushing teeth etc and then they go into my eyes. Due to reading the reviews before I started and the fear of stinging eyes, I've always done this and have not suffered from any stinging eyes (i've even taken them out of the Easysept before the 6 hours wasup a few times and don't feel stinging because of the saline solution).

I have just read the 1 star review on this product and I feel I need to leave a review. I have worn contact lenses for over 20 years and have always had monthly disposables. I have used the saline solutions in the past to clean my lenses, but would have great difficulty with the lenses afterwards simply because rubbing with your finger and saline is not enough (as directed by opticians!). I have used this item for a number of years and cannot recommend highly enough. Put the solution in to the level marker (MAKING SURE YOU USE THE CONTACT LENS CASE PROVIDED, NOT ANY OTHERS), leave for a minimum of six hours and hey presto, the lenses are clean, fresh and ready for another day. This is an excellent solution, highly recommended!

Cheaper than a well known high street brand and does the job just as well. Plus doesn't make a weird squeaking sound when reacting with the metal to neutralise. Not had a problem with it so far and been using it for about half a year or more. The left and right lettering could do with being a little clearer, it's ok if both your eyes are the same prescription but can be confusing if you're all bleary eyed first thing in the morning! I just remember 'right = white' instead.

I have to wear a lens for cosmetic reasons, having a very damaged eye. This solution was recommended to me by the hospital that supplies my lens. I have used it for years without any trouble. I find it easy to use and it has never burned my eye, as I have read here. The cases have not leaked either. At check-ups, the doctor always checks I am still using this solution so they must have faith in it. I will continue to use it as I know I'm doing the best for my poorly eye.

FINALLY. they did it Bausch & lomb who invented the contact lens, have come up with proper container that wont nip the edges of lenses and it`s colour coded too, no more of that silly L and R markings, fine you could see them whem when you had your lenses in.Peroxide all in one solution is still more effective at cleaning and killing organisms that could otherwise irritate, inflame and infect the eye. - TOP Marks for a Top design and Top product.

Excellent product and delivered quickly. For anybody who cant read or understand that this is PEROXIDE solution & therefore your lenses need to be left 6hours in the special pot with the disc that neutralises the solution, and that you shouldn't rinse your lenses with solution direct from the bottle, you should stick to wearing glasses!Glad to have found an alternative to standard Specsavers solution (that they no longer seem to stock)

11.5.2012

This solution really works at disinfecting the lenses but, as with many other products, it only works as well as the person using it. You must not use it without the proper neutralising container ... and don't get it muddled up with the saline solution the next morning! To give the product only one star because of user carelessness is unfair and misleading.

I will never use normal contact solution again. The hydrogen peroxide cleans my lenses really well. I used to get a lot of irritation from my contacts but I don’t with this. I also able to wear my contacts for a bit longer when I use this solution, this saves me money because I don’t have to buy contacts as often. I would highly recommend this solution.

22.6.2016

I tried these these because the branded peroxide solution that I had previouslsy used was increasingly hard to come by and often came with hefty postage and I have absolutely no regrets. It works wonderfully and is so much more pleasant on the eye than regular combination fluids. Well worth the investment if you wear your contact lenses all day.
