Before I go any further I just want to state that my son is the one who plays this game, I do occasionally play the game at his instance.Anyways, my son (Age 13) had recieved this game from a friend who at the time did not own a PC with the correct graphics card to play it. So he gave it to my son since he knew that his PC's were very capable of playing this game and he has been playing it to death ever since. He primarily plays the game on-line against other players in campaign mode and loves the variety of maps, choice of weapons, and different vehicles (including helicopters and Jet Airplanes). The Graphics for this game is still very good and looks great on a ATI 4000 series or higher Video Card,Ok granted it's not going to look like or hold a torch to Battlefield 3's graphics but for a 7 year old game it still looks good.He so loves this game so much he brought a copy of the game for his laptop and got his sister (Age 9) hooked on the game so she ended up buying the Game for herself and put it on her laptop. Now he has LAN partys with his friends and family at the house.FOR WINDOWS VISTA and 7 users PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING !!! (see Below)This game was originally designed to play on Windows XP (32 bit version) when released 7 years ago, However this WILL work with Windows Vista and Windows 7. First make sure the PC you are loading is connected to the internet, Then go to install the game and enter your product keys as normal but durring the install you may recieve some warning erros like "Only tested on Windows XP 32 Bit", "Can't open **** file", and so forth. Just hit the "OK" or "Ignore" buttons until it gets through the installation. It will then start querying the EA Battlefield 2 servers for the upgrade patches for the game and let you know when to install. THis may take serval minutes in between each patch so be patient and most importantly DO NOT EXIT THE INSTALL Windows. The entire process may take up to 60 to 90 minutes to complete. When completed it will indicate installtion complete and you should be able to start the game and start playing. The minimum system requirements are as follows for your PC Rig...CPU: Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron D CPU 1.7 GHz along with AMD Athlon XP or Sempron EquivilantRAM: 512 MB (Windows XP) 1GB (Windows Vista or Windows 7)Harddrive: 2.3 GB hard disk space (Probably 3GB needed after patching)Videocard: Radeon 8500 or GeForce FX 5700 DirectX compatible 128 MB graphics card or higher (Intergrated Intel Graphics Cards are NOT Supported by this game)Operating Systems: Windows XP (32 and 64 bit), Windows Vista (32 or 64 bit)*, Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit)** For Windows Vista and Windows 7 all applicable patches must be downloaded and applied first for Battlefield 2 to work on these two operating systems, In it's "Out of the box" state it will only work with Windows XP (32 Bit).So far I have only installed it on 32 Bit versions of Windows 7 however I will update this when I get ready to install this on my son's new 64 bit desktop (This is primarlily being done so he can play the new Battlefield 3).**** Updated 11/14/2011 - Just got thru loading this on my son's new desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64 Bit), did not have one problem with the install or running the game afterwards. Here are the Specs of the PC's Me and my son have loaded on so far with success...System Specs: My Sons DesktopIntel Core Dou 2 Quad socket 775, 6mb cache processorIntel DP43TF MOBO8GB of DDR2 800mhz PC6400 RAM750W Antec PSU750GB SATA HDD24bit 5.1 Creative Sound Card1GB intergrated Intel NICATI Radeon HD 6450 PCI-E 1GBWindows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64 Bit)27inch LCD VE276Q ASUS Monitor.System Specs: My Daughter's DesktopP4 3.4GHZ HT socket 478, 1 MB cache processorINTEL 865 PERLK MOBO4GB of DDR1 400mhz PC3200 RAM680W PSU300GB SATA HDD24bit 5.1 Creative Sound CardEdimax Wi-Fi Card1GB intergrated Intel NICATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP 512mbWindows 7 Ultimate SP1 (32 Bit)System Specs: My Son's LaptopDell Inspiron 1720Intel Centrino Core Duo 2 2.4 ghz processor4GB DDR2 Laptop Memory256 mb NVidia 8600m Video Card500GB Boot Drive/ 80GB Data DriveDVD/CD Burner100mb Intergrated Broadcom Nic54mbs Intel WiFi Card17 inch LCD ScreenWindows 7 Professional SP1 (32 Bit)System Specs: My Daughters LaptopDell Inspiron 1545I3 Core 2.53 ghz processor512MB ATI 4650 Video Card4 GB Of DDR3 RAM PC 10666320GB Hard Drive100mb intergrated NIC15.6 inch LCD WidescreenDVD/CD Burner54mbs Intel WiFi CardWindows 7 Professional SP1 (32 Bit)System Specs: My Sons Friends DesktopHP DC 7800 Minitower WorkstationIntel Core Duo 2 Dual Core 2.33ghz processor4 GB DDR2 667mhz PC 5300 RAM256MB Nvidia Quadro FX 1500 Video Card1GB intergrated NIC320GB Hard Drive54mbs USB Wifi CardWindows 7 Professional SP1 (32 Bit)

Battlefield is a great game ^^ even if shooters aren't your thing or if you're hardcore on CoD, you're just a punk if you can't admit BF isn't a good idea (one that's executed with such accuracy :D). The game is fun, but depending on where you are, finding a full server to jump in on may be a problem. It's a lovable game, that's still classic, but most people that are into BF have obviously ALREADY played BF2 and have moved on to the BC games or BF3. Still, it's not like NO ONE plays ^^ when I go on, for example, most servers are locked or empty, with at least two running, and yet only one has say 34/64 players active. But come one, that's plenty enough to have fun. Any lower, and you'll just run into small squad on squad battles over large maps, which will either keep you spread out and bored, or strategic and tense, hunting each other from the rooftops or whatever. Depends on you and how much you're willing to take control, and on the other folks ^^Anyways. If you're without a server or internet connection, the game has 8 vs 8 bot matches you can play offline. There's an extremely easy line of code you can insert into a single file from your docs that'll jump it up to how many number of bots you want, if you're that tech smart, but you'll still be limited to 16 player versions of the maps, which isn't all that bad at all, really. The bots are dumb (but not as dumb as what I've seen on some other games ^^) unless you're on expert, where they'll knife you, take smart cover, snipe from afar and frag you should you duck in cover inside that low fountain. If you're online and you open up a co-op match vs bots, it jumps to 32 of them, and they can get cranked up to 11, scoring headshots with shotguns from across the map and whatever). You CAN unlock guns, though only like 1 alt per class, but only online, against real people.Teamwork is key in BF, but blah, I'm not going on about the classes.Engine wise, you should be able to max out the graphics and still play so long as you've spent $400 or more on your laptop, idk, and idk for you hardcore desktop computing gods out there. You tanks, you.I bought my first OWN laptop from amazon along with some junk for it and some games, this being one. It was an asus K55N, with AMD A8-4500 1.9GHz, on win8, with AMD 7600-ish graphics, idk what I'm talking about, but that's not very bad at all. I've played Sniper 2 or whatever on low with direct x11 (though on default it started me on x9, which was unplayable, CHECK YA OPTIONS FIRST) which had like BF3 graphics if you where on console, with just a tiny tiny tiny REALLY TINY bit of fps drop. I'm not reviewing my laptop though (not here anyways), but just so know what your spechs value should be around to run the game. Not much ^^>__< the stand alone expansion game with the SpecOps blah works, but you need to install the game TWICE to access it, kind of weird. To get to the tab that lets you do it, just go to my computer and find the drive with the disc in it (this is all on one disk btw) and click that to find install. Don't click the shortcut, or you'll just wind up BF2 regular. The boosters don't work D: at all, no chance. It's not the code that's faulty, it's the old service behind this game. You register your packs online from a link on that same tab thing you install specops blah from ^^ but D: the link is no longer active, the website doesn't exist anymore. You won't get the boosters online this way if the website doesn't exist >.<You COULD buy the packs separately, I think, because you're getting the date physically on a disc, buuuuut that'll cost a lot more than getting this. But then again, getting this means no actual boosters. At least, that's what I went through. So for me and probably for you too, getting this gives you the classic BF2 game, the SpecOps blah standalone, but no booster packs. ^^ You should be able to run this so long you're not chugging along a dinosaur ^^ I hope this is helpful and cool stuff <3I don't know if this is all controller compatible, but you can definitely try ^^ I doubt it though, seeing there's different keys you need to use in order to communicate to teams and squads, etc.

This is a pretty fun game, good graphics, realistic weapons, Large battles and maps. The only problem I have with it is it is a pain to get going. I run a normal windows 7First I will tell you how I tried to install the game the first time. I told it to install everything It installed BF2 and then asked if I wanted to restart the computer(I recommend pushing no). After that it starts to Install the BF2:SF this also goes through fine. Then it starts trying to patch to 1.41. The first time I just let it go it got to the end and stoped saying there was an error. Then a message pops up saying that BF2:EF & AF need V 1.3 or something and the installation says it is finished. When you try to get either game started the screen goes black and you either press Escape to exit or the task manager to exit. This is all that happens.I uninstalled the game and tried again. This is what I didWhen I tried the second time, where it asks you if you want to install the expansion packs. Tell it NO. Only check off the battlefield 2 original game. Once the original game is installed get the auto run going and tell it you want to open files not run the updater (Game's autorun). In the files find the 1.41 patch, install it and it will update your game so you can just cancel the patch whenever it tries to in the installation (which it does several times). Patch it first or it won't work. Start up the updater and tell it you want to install the expansion packs. It will say 'patching to 1.1' let it do that. Then just install the Special forces. After that it should try to patch to 1.41 this never works as it has a problem with the computer. So just cancel the patch the installation should continue. It will then install the BF2: EF & AF with no problems. It says the installation is finished.Close it and click on the BF2:SF The screen will most likley turn black. If you fiddle around with it for a while under the compatibility window (by right clicking) you can get it say what is wrong. It told me I was missing 'Lighting.fx and Rain.fx.' If you back in the program files (Again by right clicking either BF2 or BF2:SF) you can find a folder that says 'Shader Client' Open this and Find what ever is says was wrong it told me it was missing Lighting.fx and Rain.fx so copy those and paste them under the Shaders. Try the BF2: SF and it should start up. It made the game work for me I am still having problems registering the BF2: EF & AF but I think someone just used my product key already.I hope this helps. It worked for me some of the information may be loose because I was just using memory but It should work if you fiddle around with it.

First off I wanna say that this one of the best games to have every come out. While other games have came and eclipsed it, BF2 still is a game game to play. It's graphics are good(enough) and it's maps are detailed and since it's been out a awhile, older pc's and laptops won't usually have a problem.Having said that let me tell you the problems. Some minor, others major (to me at least.)Minor: BF2 is a multiplayer game first that just happens to have singerplayer tacked on. When playin singleplayer, not all maps are available and only smallest versions can be played. Computer controlled players(?) can be uber-genuis or mega-stupid.In multiplayer (after I got it to work),the problems I've encountered is the other players (cheaters) but after awhile, you'll figure out the better servers to play on.Both SP & MP. Fighters are difficult to fly and nearly impossible to keep from flyin out-of-bounds in smaller maps. Helicopters are twitchy to control and extremely easy to over-correct.Major: Armoured Fury and Euroforce WILL NOT work out of the box. In order to play them, you have to register at website and clicking link from DVD will get you nowhere This is because EA no longer maintains the website from what I understand. To make it work, you have get the 1.5 patch (almost 2GB download). It gives you Armoured Fury and Euro Force for free as well as some other freebies.Multiplayer: PUNKBUSTERS. Couldn't play multiplayer for awhile because Punkbusters kept kickin me out for various error code (Punkbusters is a required software download that comes with game that supposedly keeps others from using cheats) Anyway, after searching the internet, I found out that PB was out of date and while it is supposed to update itself everytime you go online or something, it wasn't.Once I patched everthing up, game works 4.0. Well worth the trouble.

Am I reviewing the game bf2 or this particular compilation. Either way this gets 5 stars.Battlefield 2Bf2 is the best battlefield in my opinion. Why? Because it was the last Battlefield that supported offline co-op that lets you play with your friends on an offline LAN with your friends. No other battlefield after it let you play you and other humans vs bots. You ALSO had the option to play online too with other humans. So it had the best of both worlds. Also Bf2 is the last battlefield in which you could mod it yourself. I am constantly modding my game to suit it for my friends and I. Whenever we can an idea for a new style of game play I go in and make the appropriate changes.Battlefield in general is my favorite shooter because it simulates an all out war. There are NO restrictions. You have a map with complete freedom to roam where you want, get in almost anything that looks like a vehicle and operate it. However, Battlefield 2 wins hands down. Graphics are far better in BF3 and BF4 but the game play in BF2 is far better. I value gameplay a lot more. Game play is what gives a game its replay value. The game was released in 2005, and on March 7, 2015 we played BF2 for 8 hours straight. Don't judge us, judge the game! It's amazing. This game will never die. Will still be playing this over the next 10 years. The product-complete collectionYou get the game I just praised for under $15. That's a great deal!

I bought "Battlefield 2 The Complete Collection DVD" the physical version, 1x DVD with 3x keys;game review:"Get first aid, here!" :)Installation process:-the DVD will auto run and install BF2 (will ask you to enter its key ), BF2:Special Forces(will ask you to enter its key), BF2:Euro Force, BF2:Armored Fury and finally it will patch the game to version 1.4. the game is now under old version, only few servers will appears.-Download the last patch V 1.5 (1.9GB) fileplanet.com or gamefront.com, and install it.-now the game is ready**I didn't register the two booster packs (EU & AF), however i was able to play those new maps. "both are free to play after patch 1.5 released",otherwise here is the link to register them:[...]some common errors + fixes:# random game crash => right click on bf2 shortcut > properties> compatibility tab:[x] Run this program in compatibility mode for WinXP[x] Run this program as administrator, apply ,ok# frame rate problem => if you are using "Virtu GPU Virtualization" disable it, and connect your monitor to dedicated GPU restart in between.enjoy

This game rocks. Such a classic PC Game and easily the best PC Modern Warfare game on the market for a good price. It's better to buy the entire set for $10 than just Battlefield 2 for $20. Special Forces is a lot of fun and Armored Fury and Euro Force just comes as maps into the Battlefield 2. The installation sucks though. Sometimes you have to re-enter the serial codes multiple times and the Booster Pack serial code enter bar won't open because the game is old, it used to require you to go to the website to register it, but Battlefield got rid of that link. If you have Windows 7, it will work, Windows 8 will not, or I have not figured it out yet.You have to download the v 1.5 patch from fileplanet.com in order for it to work with the Euro Force and Armored Fury maps. Otherwise everything else will work. Also quick tip. If you want your online account to work in multiplayer, right click the game and click "Run As Administrator" or PunkBuster will kick you for no reason.Enjoy a great game!

I was kinda hoping that this game would be somewhat better than 1942 or 2142 and more along the lines of BF Bad Company but it is a take off on the 1942&2142 series...spawning and that sort of thing...more attuned to multiplayer than single player...and as usual the mp is geared to run and gun and shoot yer buddy these days and 'I have more points than you do' mind set. So...if you liked 1942 and 2142 this ones for you...if you like the BF Bad Company way of doing things BF3 is the natural follow up. It all depends on the type you like the earlier series to me have a 'barren' feel with not enough going on in single play to keep my interest piqued and in mp unless you can find some like mindedfriends\players is a PITA.UPDATE***1-18-2012*** This game to me is all about multi-player and since I was only playing it in single mode things have changed as far as that goes...so over all it comes under ''It ain't so bad'' rather than "It's Okay" big change huh. Overall it's a fairly good game in mp.

Most of you have heard of the Battlefield series by EA and DICE if you even have a passing interest in videogames or FPS games. I had, and didn't really think they were worth my time...but then I finally said, what the hey, and got a copy here. Best game purchase of my life, to put it simply. For those with high-end rigs, save your dough and wait until BF3 comes out, and then frag away. If you're like me, though, and don't have the latest machine, this game is for you! Multiplayer is intense, although the VoIP scene has kinda dried up some...however, if you're not necessarily into getting fragged ridiculous amounts of times until you turn "propro",then there are several mods that greatly enhance the singleplayer experience for the BF2 soldiers. Look up Battlefield Singleplayer and you'll be where you need to be. In conclusion, if you like large-scale, modern, combined-arms FPS action, look no further than Battlefield 2!

I really liked this game BUT I can't recommend it anymore. Due to the shutdown of the GameSpy network, which was not controlled by EA or DICE, many games have lost their multiplayer functionality as they used the GameSpy network to link up all the multiplayer servers. You can do a search for all the games that were affected by this shutdown. Just search under GameSpy shutdown. I had heard that there are some mods that support the game outside of GameSpy but that is just a rumor to me. I don't care to play it anymore so I haven't looked around.Since Battlefield 2's singleplayer was just computer controlled bots on the multiplayer maps it isn't very fun. No campaign mode. You can setup local LAN if you want to but that is very specialized.

i have played all BF games, they are all good and are all worth buying. If you like modding you should definately buy BF 2, as there are many, many mods(plenty of total conversions too) that are excelent for this game. The modding is what makes bf series what it is, i baught BF 2 and wanted to experiance BF 1942 all over again but wirth better grtapchics, and there was a mod for that(forgotten hope 2). i wanted to experiance arma 2 like gameplay with BF 2 and there is a mod for that too, (project reality). Bf is an awsome game and even if you dont like the origonal game play of the BF series you can try one of the many many mods thast are out there for BF games because there will almost alwaysbe one that you like.

I used to play this game with some friends back in the day but I have never had a computer to play my own PC games. I've been forced to play console games and man are they lacking in just about everything. I finally bought a used comp and gfx card and now I'm playing BF2 non-stop. I love this game. The choppers and heli's rock. I don't have much to say just wanted to put my thoughts out there and tell everyone that they NEED to try this game. Also download the "Project Reality" mod and give that a whirl. It is a whole other beast in and of itself. You may like it, you may not. If you don't like to be a team player and rely on your teammates for support then you won't like it.So get this and have fun.

When I first wrote this review I said that BF2 was not compatible with Windows 7. That's because I tried every way imaginable of loading the game and its patches (per the recommendations I found in the various chat rooms), and the game kept crashing. Then I switched monitors, from my new widescreen LG W2486L to my old non-widescreen HP f1903. That's all it took! Now I am spending every free minute playing this game. When I get tired of BF2, I will go back and reload my other Windows XP games, which also crashed while using my widescreen monitor, and see if they work too.Update:Adding the booster packs was a nightmare. And I could never get BF2 Armored Fury to load (even with patch 1.5).

I have been playing this game for about 1 1/2 years now. I even got my dad hooked. Call of Duty 4 can't come close. The squad based combat with a commander is fun, but add the VOIP and it becomes fantastic. The gameplay and game mechanics are very true to true FPS fans. It take only a short while to learn how to move and shoot, but a heck of allot longer to master it. This makes the game rewarding after the initial learning period, but also still rewarding as you perfect your game. The rank system and medals and ribbons to earn also keep you interested for a long time. The best computer game I've played with Starcraft, the WarCraft series, and AOE not even coming close.

23.10.2014

I LOVE THIS GAME, even if it's old, I just like how there are so many mods for it. Especially a mod called Project Reality. Honestly, I only bought this game so I could play the mod. Too bad that the ranked servers are down though. I wish I have bought this game during it's hey-days. I'm having a lot of fun with this mod!! Certainly worth the money!!! I've read a bunch of other reviews stating that the digital copy had trouble with the KEY? I just bought a hard copy just in case that sort of thing happens to me, and I would recommend whoever is reading this to do the same thing.
