This is the best darn $105 binocular I've ever bought for boating. Internal compass, shock proof, waterproof and IT FLOATS. Generic user manual sucks, so I followed hints to find other functions. Two watch-batteries were supplied but not installed. Small rubber cap w/CCW arrow & the word "remove" protected an o-ring sealed watch-battery socket. Momentary power-button actuated an internal red lamp, for viewing compass heading and "range-finder" at night. Detailed instructions were supplied for the "range finder", an optical reticle in the right lens, using horizontal and vertical scales with marks 5mils apart. Each mark equals an object of 5 meters(16.4ft) at 1000 meters(3280.8ft) distance.

Great for the price. I bought a good set of binoculars in 1969 and they worked great until last year when my boat sunk and they didn't survive. (Got water in the left lens) Actually the right side still works. But, anyway, about the Barska Marines, they are really clear and I like the features, floating, waterproof, rangefinder and lighted compass. They are great for one person only because of the individual focus adjustments, but for a hundred bucks you can buy everyone in the boat their own pair and have lots of spares in case one goes overboard and floats away. Of course they are not Swarovski's but at my age if they last ten years I will probably be done boating anyway and give them to the grandkids.

This is my first pair of binoculars! I bought it for field use - 100-300 meter out magnification. My requirements were a rangefinder ruler and a quality product overall.This pair met my expectations. There was a small issue however. I bought mine from Amazon, and got it at significant discount, but with non-functioning compass. Compass is just a simple swivel thing, but it would be nice to have it work.As I often look at open terrain through them, I find that 7 is not enough. This is, of course, not a compass defect, but a lesson I got a privilege of learning.I would prefer to have one focusing nob. There are two - one for each eye. Again, not a defect,

Fantastic set of glasses for checking out the stars at night or in the morning. Got these glasses to try and view Comet ISON. That was a bust, but I did find out, these binoculars can really pull in more stars that you can imagine. Look up into the night sky and you may see a couple of hundred stars, (depending on where you are) but then look up through these glasses and you will see thousands. Unbelievable. Very happy I got them. Now for the other stuff. The binoculars do not come with the battery and the operating instructions are for a different set of binoculars. Not a big deal, more of an aggravation. Still, very happy with these binoculars.

The self-focusing feature takes some time to get used to; it was a little headache-y at first, but now it's second nature to use. I don't use it for diving--which is what it's designers had in mind--but the floating / waterproof feature is great for birding and other wildlife viewing around the beach, marsh, and river.I selected this product because I'm clumsy and would hesitate to take standard binocs around water, but these leave me with no fear of losing or destroying them. They've gone in the water twice (and bounced off the dock once) with no damage. Also, have a comfy fit with either glasses or contacts / no eye wear.

I am very impressed with the Binoculars,they have exceeded all of my expectations!! I love the focus ability of both eyes instead of the traditional one eye focus, it Truly makes them a step above all the rest of the Binoculars I have owned or even looked at. And the price was reduced lower than what I thought it could be!! Also I didn't have to do any tracking on my product, Amazon gave me a heads up on where it was, and when I could expect to receive it. Thanks Amazon for great service, great prices, also great products!

These are great. The eye pieces focus individually which is great if for anyone with less then perfect vision. I was worried that would be annoying because I thought I'd constantly have to adjust them both, but the depth of field is so large that I never had to touch them. The batteries install easily to illuminate the compass for nighttime use. My wife had fun testing our the floating/water proof claim. Everything worked great.We used these for a sea kayaking tour and whale watching tour in case you were wondering.

The best optics for the price. Range finder is not as expected but despite that the binoculars are worth the price. Good direction indicator within the view finder and with a light. Easy to focus, watch boats on the river and birds. Excellent and would recommend them to anyone. Just do not expect to be able to measure your golf distances. Good early night goggles as they seem to allow more light than many glasses costing much more. Perfect for boating, bird watching, or even touring.

Exactly what I was looking for. I needed some binoculars for sailing, so they needed to be at least splash-proof. The compass is great for determining whether another vessel is on a collision course, or for pointing out an item for another crewmember. You can also, obviously, use the compass for chart triangulation. The range-finder feature is not laser, but requires you to do some math -- you will need to know the size of the item you are looking at.

We bought these for my father-in-law and I wasn't sure how I was going to review them because I don't own them, but I recently got to use them. We were in California on his boat and had the opportunity to use them to look for critters. These things are powerful!! I love that the caps are attached so you don't lose them. I also love that they float. However, my father-in-law said he was not willing to test that claim out!

very good quality comes with case and lens protectors, and miro fiber cleaning cloth. Now with that said the range finder is not like one for golf with a red dot and gives you the distance, its more like a scale that is inside the lens and you have to figure out the size and range of the object, they fooled me lol. Over all good product clear long range floats good for any water sports or work.

7x50mm binocular works great off my porch no focusing issues. I like them better than my Winchester 42mm hunting binoculars already, because there is a wider field of view.We will see how it fairs on the open seas....The lens caps don't seem too strong. Hopefully I don't end up testing the flotation capability.

Great quality binoculars. Optical quality is excellent. Internal light is red night vision preserving and adequate to read scale for range finding and compass. Did not test floating or waterproof quality. Comes with case, lens covers for all four lenses, neck strap, lens cloth and battery.

I purchased the binoculars for the reticle, the lenses are quite adequate, the compass is of questionable value, it is very hard to see. The light for the compass functions the way it should.the reticle is similar to the US M22 it works well. I am very satisfied with this acquisition.

This product was amazing and the way it was packed for shipping was even better! I put 2 stars because I had to return it becaus I got the wrong pair my husband wanted but I refund process was so simple and easy! Made life during the holidays less stressful very impressed!
