These Barska Battalion binos are built like a freaking tank! While serving in then West Germany I was several times was assigned with Bundeswehr, or German Army, soldiers and had a chance to use and qualify with thier arms and equipment. They used Steiner optics with a range finding reticle similar to the Barska Battalions. This does not mean I can explain it much better than the someahat confusing literature included with the Barska Battalion's. This system relies on the Mil dot type scale but using stadia marks to gain estimation within 10 meters, or about 35 feet. Radians are defined but a known distance o either ther size of an object down range must be known, or less accurately, estimated.

I have used many binoculars over the years. I used to use Steiners on a regular basis and was looking at getting a pair of Steiner 8x30 Military R binoculars ($700 on Amazon) for myself recently when I came across the Barska Battalion series. They match the Steiner binoculars in quality, features and performance but at at only $113. I'm very happy with these binos.

this is a really nice set of binoculars, seems just as nice as the steiners they are patterned after....I didn't think i'd like the individual focus/auto-focus systems....but once set for your eyes, the constant focus truly was a "set and forget" binocular ....I was quite impressed with these binos for adventure use!

The build quality is impressive and the optical clarity and brightness surpass any lower cost (and some higher cost) binos I've used in the past. The illuminated internal display is useful in low light and I love the lens objective protector design. You can't lose those!

I use them everyday. they are quick to target and have bright clear images. using the range finding reticule does require some mental agility which i think is fun. its ruggedly built. and comes with a plain black padded case. all in all a good value for your money

I is use these for camping, boating, and on the range. Never had a problem. Solid and reliable optics. The only criticism is when one uses the internal light, the internal compass shifts a few degrees, but that’s not really a dealbreaker for me.

Come with nice case. I used for hunting and bird-watching in the lakes park. Sharp and clear image even in early morning! It works well with glasses. I am glad to choose this product.

I think this binocular has the right quality at the right price, it's light enough to keep it with you in the rucksack all the day.I reccomend it

Pretty good binoculars, wouldn't have minded a digital rangefinder but that's besides the point because I knew what I was buying.

My father loved it, it was is birthday gift. He is one of the hardest people to get a gift for.
