For high quality and a light field carry I give it four stars. Nylon web belt pouch is high quality and rugged, a good fit for the monocular and has durable Velcro closure.Optics seem fine and probably perform what they are designed for. I'd say they would be most useful for continuous spot monitoring at any magnification because it is a little difficult to "pan"around much. The field of view seems difficult to hold steady and focus upon. This is the first monocular I have owned so I think it would take some practice to use it effectively. It also seems difficult to locate target of choice when I'm in heavily covered, brushy areas. At minimum magnification focus to objects or landmarks is easier. When viewing an open landscape the field of view seems a little small and doesn't give the satisfying viewing experience that you would get from a good set of binoculars. If a çompact carry is what you need and you can learn to steady and focus a monocular, this device does magnify smaller sized areas quite well with great clarity. For me, ordinary 7X35 field glasses are fine. A bit larger to carry but much easier to use. Other monoculars with less potent optical magnification would also be easier to use. Larger, more powerful "spotting" and "viewing" scopes or a good set of binoculars would seem to be the way to go for game spotting, bird watching and general panoramic use but with a more cumbersome carry.Overall though, this device is a nice high quality piece if you learn to use it.

Replaced 8X binocular for use in spotting at the pistol range (out to 25 yards). More compact and easier to share between 2 shooters (less re-adjustment). No fogging problems and fairly easy to stabilize by leaning against the shooting stations (unless you are very steady, an 8X scope is hard to use offhand). No lens caps included in mine, but the included soft case protects quite well. Takes up little space in my range bag, and the twist-up eye cup works quite well. No problem seeing 40 caliber holes. I should note that when I bought this the price was about 1/3 what it is at the time of this review; I do not know what that is about.

I bought this item based on the specified eye relief, hoping it would work with my glasses. It does, with the adjustable eyecup retracted. Optical quality is just fine for my use as a spotter when I'm target shooting, to reduce my walks out to the target. (Yeah, I'm lazy.) Bought this thru Amazon for $17.68, whereas the Barska web site ([...]) shows a price of $89.99, as of 11/18/2016. A great buy here at Amazon, it seems. I took off one star for the reasons given by other reviewers here, which are noteworthy but not a big problem for my usage.

It's the power level I was looking for, and it's fairly bright. You have to read the directions (I think) to realize the large textured area is the main focus ring. It's VERY stiff and at first the rubber grip was starting to deform before the main focus ring turned. After I got it started and turned end to end a few times, it's only REALLY stiff. No 'two fingers on the focus ring' for this. Two full hand grips is more like it. However; it works, the optics are clean, and it meets my needs.

This is a good optic for the price ($63). It is very clear and sharp, and the 42mm front element lets plenty of light in for indoor range use, which is why I bought the optic. This does, however make it a pretty large piece. The focus ring is large and turns well...good even resistance. The quality is good. I am taking one star off because the inner ring that holds the front element has tool marks which scratched the black paint away revealing bare metal.

This was a gift for my dad so I cannot say with expertise how well it has preformed for him but when he received it he was very pleased. I purchased it because it was small enough he could stick it in a tackle box for taking on the boat while fishing or for him to stick in his pocket while on a hike. He seems to enjoy using it but I cannot speak of the products performance.

We really liked the monocular. It was exactly what we wanted. The only problem, it was missing the lens covers, one of the accessories listed. Amazon was quick to reply to my e-mail with options to correct the problem. Also quick with the partial refund, which is the option we chose.

Image clarity is what you'd expect in this price range. Don't expect to be able to read through it. But if, like me, you're just trying to tell a spike buck from a doe at 200 yards, this will do the trick.

Thank you. Satisfied item, came in full kit. Hoped for when ordering, and then received. Operational problems yet. Recommend for purchase.

Good clarity. Solid construction. Convenient to carry on your belt. Much better than your typical smaller diameter optics.

Great monocular and fantastic for the opera. Clear view, easy to hold and focus. Couldn't be happier.

I use it to scope electric meters for Comed, easy to use, focus is good and very durable
