I have had and used these now for around four years. They are fantastic general purpose binoculars for viewing all sorts of things and events. I waited until, now to write a review because I wanted to really use them. I have used the binoculars for bird watching, Aircraft spotting and viewiing scenery.Some people say they are heavy, in other reviews. and I suppose, in a way, given their size, they are heavier than a compact pair for example. I am used to a heavy weight pair of 20 X 70 for aircraft, so in comparison these are light for me. I can hold the big ones steady, just, but these hold steady all the time and images are sharpe and clear. They never fog in any condition and I am satisfied that they are 100% waterproof.

Before I start I’m by no means a binocular expert. I am a part time gamekeeper and have used small binoculars for years, the 8x21 Olympus. They were good but just didn’t have to clarity for looking for pheasants at long distance. I asked for some advice on an affordable pair of binoculars and they were coming back at £150 and up, someone mentioned these so I took a punt and I’m over the moon with them! They are clear and have a good magnification. For the price I would definitely recommend them, I can’t see how another £70 or more on top of this price can make other binoculars any better! I watched a few videos on how to use binoculars correctly as I found I was quite wobbly with them at first with the 10x magnification but a few little tips went a long way.

Bought a pair of these as a gift for my Dad a couple of years ago and was so impressed I bought a pair for myself a year later. They're fairly heavy/bulky to carry around so, unless you're a keen "spotter" of one thing or another, you probably wouldn't want to take them with you on a walk for example. To keep at home for watching birds in the garden, or for taking to sporting events they are excellent. If, like me, you've only used cheap, compact binoculars before, then you'll really notice the improved image quality with these - I hadn't realised what I was missing! The magnification is great for getting up close to birds in the garden etc. They feel high quality and tough,

Tried a few pairs and could not find something I liked. Went for a cheap compact pair before they were dreadful and I sent them back. So you get what you pay for and the extra paid for these Barr and Sierra binoculars was well worth it. They are quite heavy because I chose a rubber coated pair as I can be a bit of a klutz. Two gripes. the neckstrap is really cheap and nasty as it is nylon and would have been both scratchy and not really up to the job, especially as they are heavy. Have ordered a softer strap at extra cost, maybe they should consider options for the case and strap. The other is the eye caps they detach (they are joined)

I decided I needed a new pair of binoculars, for birdwatching and general nature work, and after some research I came across these 10X50's from Barr & Stroud.I'd owned different 8X42 binoculars in the past, but I'd found them to be fairly small in your hand, and I decided I wanted something a little larger, and chose these. I have to say that for the money, these are a fantastic pair of binoculars.They are waterproof, which helps in our English climate, and they have a lovely build quality, and come with a 10 year guarantee, so they have faith in their product as well. Images are very sharp and clear. The size and weight of these actually help you keep them steady when you use them,

For the money these bins are hard to beat. Optically very good, feel very good in the hand, not too heavy and the short minimum focussing distance is a real advantage over other, more expensive binoculars.However, why don't manufactures spend a few extra pence on at least making a token effort in providing a satisfactory strap. The standard one supplied is cheap and scratchy beyond belief. I invested £10 in getting a padded number that is much more comfortable. Also, the lens covers are hinged so can be left on the lens barrels - a good idea - however, they detach too easily and could be lost too readily.Overall,

Could not believe how many stars in the sky and the features of the moon that can be seen quite clearly with these binoculars.Also used these while hillwalking and range and visabilty was very good.Am very happy with this purchase.

A brilliant optic, well made and offers good sharp images. Better than others I have tried, and a far higher price. value is hard to beat considering the quality of the Binocular.
