Well this was fun ... no seriously it really was. My five year old granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed the experience of revealing this colour change doll in all her glory. I on the other hand thought that although I had fun with my granddaughter and this doll the price is a bit on the steep side and I'm hoping that she doesn't want to try and collect the whole set of six as this could end up costing us a heap of money especially as you have no idea which doll you will have when you purchase one ... so a whole lot of duplicates later ...The doll itself is a standard sized Barbie doll and she comes in a transparent plastic cylindrically shaped container without hair or clothes and is completely covered with some sort of washable blue metallic paint. There are also four attractive mystery bags inside the container.Remove the doll and mystery bags, then fill the container with hand hot water and place the doll back inside. Put the lid back on and lightly shake the container, the metallic paint washes off the doll revealing your new colour change Barbie ... Each of these dolls have different combinations of skin colour, eye colour and a decorated moulded body suit. My granddaughter's doll had fair skin, blue eyes as well as a pretty turquoise body suit. Inside her four mystery bags we found long blonde, pink and purple hair glued on to something like a plastic skull cap ... this fitted easily onto the Barbie doll giving her a more realistic Barbie look. Also in our bags were a flowered turquoise skirt, turquoise shoes and a tiny sponge. The sponge is used wet and icy cold to reveal a star tattoo pattern on our dolls cheek. Also the hair dipped alternatively into icy cold and fairly hot water revealed a minor change in hair colour ... so subtle that my granddaughter couldn't really see the difference. After the reveal was complete my granddaughter continued to play make believe games with this and other Barbie dolls that she has.As I have previously said, the idea is good, the whole experience great fun but the price being just a little under £30 (at the time of this review) makes it costly to collect all six colour change dolls.

Our five year old Barbie loving daughter was very intrigued by this Make-Me-a-Barbie kit, she has a number of Barbies, but never one like this. All instructions were completed by her relatively unaided, but with supervision. Wearing an apron she dunked the metallic blue doll, that looks absolutely like Mystique from the X-Men into warm water.Just like Mystique, she then transforms into her human form. All other parts are included for your little one to personalise. The outfit, the wig - which you don't need to use, as her baseline figure has premolded 'pixie' hair too, the shoes and a cloud shaped sponge.▪︎ What We Did:Dippig her in WARM water inside the marked line on her cylindrical housing, removes all traces of the metallic blue into a lovely swirling blue glittery cloud, which was alluring for our little girl to see. Especially when spun into a vortex with a long spoon. Our daughter had some fun with that too. The water must be warm to hot.▪︎ How To Get That Make Up:Once dressed, we tried our hand at applying very icy cold water to Barbie's face using the included sponge. This didn't work.So I left the water soaked sponge in the freezer for about 30 minutes.Once the sponge was semi-frozen, we tried again. This time revealing a pretty lityle design to her right cheek and her lips turned a lovely shade of plum.We also noticed that her hair can change colour too. Cold water darkens the hair, and warm, lightens it as before.Although this Barbie lacks the flexibility of the new-age Barbies of today, she's still a very lovely, unusual and very unique DIY Barbie. Our daughter has Barbies with the hyper mobile joints too. She equally appreciates the differences between this, less mobile, but very unique type; as well as those.5 stars.

My 9-year-old daughter shows off this doll in the attached video (also on YouTube in better quality). I think she feels more of a connection with this Barbie than her normal Barbie dolls because of the interactive element to it in turning the doll from a mystery into a proper doll. Indeed she says in the attached video, “She looks really good, especially because I did it.”The main negative probably about the doll is that the wig is pretty obvious. With your normal Barbie dolls their hair is weaved in but this one has a helmet-like attachment with hair over it that clicks over the doll head (attaching very well whilst also being easy to take off again when you want to),and this makes the hair big and clear to see that it is a wig. Probably the other negative is that for Series 1 all the dolls are white and not very diverse. There are five possible dolls to get in series 1 and it is a complete mystery as to which you will get (which may be a nuisance if you want to collect them all as you may get doubles). There are 7 mysteries to unlock as you turn the doll from a pink mannequin to an actual doll (the interactive part that leads to more engagement with the toy than a normal Barbie perhaps). The main mystery is the doll itself (which counts as two). You put the pink doll in the tube, put some warm water in there too, and swirl it. This removes the pink revealing the doll beneath. Then there are the mystery bags – one for a sponge (ours was a starshaped sponge), one for a skirt, one for a wig, and one for a pair of shoes for the doll. The other surprises is the colour change of the pixie haircut under the wig when you apply cold water.Overall my daughter loves this doll.

I got the Barbie colour change reveal for my daughter as a gift for her Birthday and she was really happy when we showed this to her. She is really into the surprise inside type of toys and even though she is not a big Barbie fan, this one had an added charm due to the multiple surprises inside. It comes with pets and surprises too and she was so excited to see what's inside. She opened it as soon as we gave it to her and was really happy to see on the back that all the ones you can collect. She quickly noticed that this comes with 7 different surprises and was so happy. hThe first step to open it is to try and see which doll she got and the doll was fully covered in some sort of golden paint which hides the colour of the doll and also the type of Barbie it is.To reveal the colour, we had to put her in a big jug of water. Once she was fully inside, it takes some time for the paint to peel off and the water turned to completely golden so we couldn't see which colour was the Barbie even when she was dipped in. Once we took it out, we found that it was the brown Barbie. She said that she is so pretty and cute. Then we opened the rest of the surprises. They were all clothes and a few accessories and my daughter was really happy to see the hair which was purple in colour which is her favourite colour. She has been playing with it non-stop since the day we opened it and considering she doesn't like playing with dolls, I can only imagine that this change is due to this gift. Overall, I am really impressed with this but I am worried when the demand for the next Barbie starts. Recommended as a birthday gift - 4 stars.

My daughter were so happy to receive colour reveal Barbie, she saw one online and recently mentioned it. How lucky she were that the offer came on to get this doll via Vine program.Doll came in big plastic tube. Inside were doll covered in blue colour along with 4 blind bags. Inside this bags were a wig, shoes, heart shaped sponge and skirt. Before we washed the doll, we unwrapped the blind bags and found lovely purple-blue skirt, hair and white shoes. Daughter's favourite colours so far.The doll need to be washed in water to reveal which doll it is. We filled the tube with warm water and put doll inside. Turning doll around helped to remove blue paint from it.Doll also came out great looking after wash. After dressing this doll up, my daughter noticed that the wig doesnt look as good as hair attached to the head, like most of other barbies. I told her, that's the unique feature about this doll and she finally accepted that fact. She played with it and discovered the changing colour hair (changing with cold or hot temperatures- purple hair turns to pink). Even the chick have hidden pattern- rain drips on it with hot/cold compress. This colour reveal doll is great fun and the water left over looks great too when shakes.Doll is well priced for what it is. It could be great birthday/Christmas gift for barbie fan. There is few other dolls to reveal..Recommended

This is a completely new idea for Barbie that is mostly pretty good. The premise is that you really don’t know which doll you’re buying which is great in terms of the surprise factor but be sure your little girl is completely prepared to not necessarily get a particular version, and if they then insist on you buying them more, the risk is that you end up getting the exact same doll again.A friend of mine bought 3 of these dolls for nieces and all 3 were exactly the same!!The fun aspect is that you receive a doll that is covered in a pink coating, disguising her actual appearance and you fill the clear plastic tube with warm water, lower the doll into the water and swirl the tube and the pink coating swirls off the doll and into the water which is quite a cool effect and the dolls appearance is magically revealed! The hair on the doll is moulded but can be changed in colour with cold water, and in the separate surprise bags included in the tube is a wig that fits onto the doll but sits quite awkwardly like a helmet and doesn’t really look nice at all.The skirt accessory matches the particular leotard printed on the dress and is quite cute and the shoes are ok; just typical Barbie shoes really but colour matched to the doll. All in all it’s great, and a fun idea, but the wig is awful and the risk of buying the same doll repeatedly is a major concern

My granddaughter came over to do this colour reveal Barbie with me. First of all don't throw the container away or damage it because you will need it. There are five dolls in this series, which you can see the pictures of but you have no idea which one you have got, that caused great excitement.I really liked the idea that the container for the reveal was part of the packaging. The doll looks rather strange, a bit like a basic manikin, all one colour with no personality. Make sure that Barbie becomes fully emerged in the water, which will straight away start to cloud as the colour desolves off her.We opened the surprise bags one for her skirt, one for shoes and one for her wig.We emptied the water from the reveal and cleaned off bits that had remained. They were easy to remove.Next was ice water and the sponge (which came in another surprise bag. The cold changes lip colour and pattern on her cheeks. We had fun doing this, take your time and enjoy each reveal. So why 4 stars? That is because of the wig which just didn't look right at all. It seemed too big and looked like a badly made wig. I felt the price was about right as we both enjoyed the reveal and surprise elements.

Barbie Colour Reveal Series 1 Doll Assortment.I've just read other reviews and it seems that all the dolls are the same so if you are buying 2 and hoping for 2 different ones you will be disappointed as they are all the same which will dissapoint!Once you get the full sized barbie doll out she's covered from head to toe in a pink colour reveal, you fill the empty tube with warm water and put the doll inside and swirl it about and then the water turns pink, then take the doll out to reveal her look, the one I received is exactly the same as the ones other people have reviewed like I said earlier. There is also 4 mystery bags that contain a wig, pair of shoes, skirt and a small sponge.Everything can be stored in the tube when finished playing with.I did all of the revealing with assistance from my 3cyear old granddaughter.....she thought it was magical how from a pink doll turned into a barbie, she loved it, I helped her dress barbie as she was cold with no clothes on, too fidgety for a 3 year old to do alone. It's well presented too. This would make a great gift for any little girl that's into barbie. The price is a tad high tho.Can recommend.

You know when your child excitedly chooses their special present because they completed their marble jar and you tell them that they will receive it on Friday, but it doesn't arrive until a few days later? Well, that! Amazon did keep me informed of the delay, but this didn't help with the 6-year-old reasoning. Luckily all was forgotten once the doll actually arrived. It''s great and exciting, but a few points to note:* you have to use very hot water for the colour to actually all disappear- I ended up wiping the leftover colour with a kitchen towel* you need to use freezing cold water for the makeup and hair change- I give her an ice cube to use* the wig is the one that changes the hair colour-not the pixie hair that barbie comes with* doll is made from a different material as "normal" barbies- it seems more plasticky and less rubbery* hair sits high up, doesn't fall as naturally as in other Barbies - it makes sense as it's attached to something that can only be described as a transparent helmet. All in all a child is happy, but I'm now worried I'll have to buy all the other ones :) - we'll probably go with a Chelsea doll next.

As a grandmother I want a gift for my 8 year old grand daughter that she will love and play with often.Although I am not a big fan of the Barbie brand I have to say she loves them all and owns many. What I did not expect was just how much she would love this particular Barbie Color Reveal doll as you do not know exactly what is inside the box until you open it.Her excitement started when she first recognised what it was. Squeals of joy came with the process of opening the package, particularly washing off the colour to reveal the doll. Opening each of the additional surprise packages, prolonged the enjoyment with the wig receiving the biggest ”OOOHS”.Nearly 4 weeks later she is still playing with this doll every day and saying she would LOVE another. This is one of their best so far and I had to reluctantly agree how much play value my grand daughter has had.I have promised another for her birthday. Finally, So many toys have a short shelf life of 6 months, after their initial worldwide popularity fades. Barbie has lasted 50 plus years and re-invents their dolls a couple of times a year.

I saw these advertised and thought what a great idea, as a little girl I’d be so excited to find out what barbie I’d reveal! So I just had to try it! It’s really simple, you just fill the tube with water and pop the glittery barbie in. Give her some time, open the little mystery parcels while waiting. And finally pull her out, give her a wash in clean water I recommend and turn her upside down over a sink as I ended up drenching our table! So after, we popped her clothes on and her wig. My only issue was the wig but I don’t think kids would care too much but she just looked like she had a huge head and the wig was very obvious. She’s not overly bendy like other barbies, she’s rather rigid. But other than that I feel it’s a fantastic idea, I’d have definitely wanted one!And one other issue is that since you don’t know which one you’d get, you may get exactly the same if you had more than one barbie! She’s not exactly a cheap doll if you were to get a double so maybe a one doll only kind of purchase.

We like a Barbie in this house and we love a blind bag experience. The brand is never shy of experimenting and this 'Barbie Color Reveal Doll' is a triumph for kids, if a little expensive for the adult. Usually, the dolls come fully formed in see-through packaging so that you can see what you get, but here you get a mystery tube. The drama does not stop there as the doll itself looks like a science fiction android. You have to dip the doll in warm water to reveal which of the seven you have received. The kids loved this, as they did opening the blind bags that have the various accessories inside, including a wig. The doll itself is of the high quality that the brand always produces.Any issue is around the price. You are certainly paying a premium for the reveal experience and collecting all seven will be an expensive outing with several swaps. My kids love the doll, but as a parent I will be happy to keep buying the normal Barbie that I can see.

What a brilliant idea. The barbie is covered in a pink powder like substance. You fill her tube with warm water up to the mark on the side then dunk barbie in and swirl her around and when she’s pulled out you get to see her colour/style. My granddaughter loved this element of surprise. Initially she had trouble opening the tube as it seems like you should pull it but it’s a screw top - other than that she was able to open all the bits herself and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.I think this is a brilliant idea and adds even more play value to Barbie - would make an excellent gift.Only comment I’d make to improve it would be to put a number on the bottom so if you are buying more than one youcan buy different numbers so you do not get duplicates but again I’m sure even if you had 2 of the same they’d still be played with and would become twins !!!An easy 5 stars for this great new range from Barbie

Barbie GMT48 Colour Reveal Doll AssortmentPrestation. The doll comes in a colourful tube with lots of graphics.Content.You get the Barbie doll and 4 surprise bags with clothes and accessories.Using.You fill the container with water and put the doll in. This reveals lots of colours, she goes in pink and comes out with different eye, skin, skin tone colours. It’s quite effective how the process works. Once dry you can add the accessories.Quality.It is not up to the normal; Barbie quality in my opinion, it’s the effect of submersing the doll and revealing the design is the best bit. The accessories are ok but very basic.Overall.A fun item but not up to the usual Barbie quality. The overall effect is great but the accessories are only average. However, when my niece used it and saw the reveal after the water submersion she was amazed and loved it. But it has been a bit of a one hit wonder.

A great addition to any barbie fans. It comes packaged in a plastic tube where everything inside is aimed to be a surprise, even the doll itself. Its colourful packaging says theres 7 surprises inside. The doll has a painted blue coating. To see which doll you have, you have to fill the tube with warm water, put the doll in and wait for the paint to soak off. You get mystery bags which includes the wig for barbies hair and clothing for her to wear. It seems of a good size. A great idea to get a child excited to see what they are getting and go through the revealing process. Only downside is being the doll is £20, you dont know which one is inside and could be spending alot of money for a doll you could end up with multiples of.Looking forward to give to my niece and see her reaction to all the surprise elements. Perfect gift to keep them occupied, just hope she hasnt got this one already.
