This is a really cute set, combining a new, more relatable Barbie (who wears sneakers and casual clothes, has a foot that's capable of fitting in to flat shoes, and a bustline that won't take your eyes out) with a cute canine companion, her three pups, a whelping bed, puppy bath, shampoo bottle and mini wash cloth. Something I'm not too keen on is Mattel's new style of packaging - which uses large, moulded plastic outers that often don't seem to seal properly to the cardboard backing - in this case, the set I received had quite a big gap at the bottom on one side. There's a lot of potential for dust and dirt to get into the packaging when in a shop or online retailer's warehouse.Barbie has nice, simple casual clothes on. A T-shirt and shorts. She could be a vet, a pet groomer, or just a woman whose pet is having puppies. The puppies are tiny - about the size of grapes - and can be delivered by their mother (who has a sort of trap door arrangement in her underside). When wiped over with a wet cloth, symbols on the pups' backs change colour - blue and pink, showing the pups' sex. Part of me would have preferred it if the change had been the pups' eyes going from closed to open - reflecting something that changes about puppies in the real world. A set that nicely combines a traditional fashion doll (now more of a play doll) with animal friends.

This is a nice enough set, but a little overpriced compared to Barbie's latest kitchen set, that allows my friend's two kids and their cousins (one a 5yo boy), which currently is just pennies under thirty quid. With this you do get a repositionable Barbie (she was fixed in the kitchen set, and got discarded in favour of the many possibilities offered by the kitchen) and you get mum dog, 3 pups, a bed/delivery tub and wash bowl and cloth. Mum dog can be squeezed to give birth to the pups (they do go back in) and then you use cold water to reveal the puppies' sex. I'm not sure gender is the right word here, given how much attention gender is currently getting, and prefer to use,'Let's see if it's a boy dog or a girl dog.'It's a nice enough set, but it's overpriced and not educational enough. I am maybe comparing this a little unfairly to the kitchen, but I've also recently had the Barbie couture set, which again is better value for money and involves more skill. Nice to have, but not a to-die-for set, as confirmed by my 7yo tester.

This set comes with a full sized Barbie doll, a lovely good sized dog, three different coloured puppies, a birthing bed for the dog, a small paw shaped tray bath for the puppies and a tiny pink cloth and blue bottle to wash the pups. The Barbie is, in my opinion, better than the 'normal' Barbies because she has jointed knees so can bend and kneel. She just has the one set of clothes but they are a nice set of shorts and top. The dog is a lovely looking golden retriever type of dog with jointed front legs and a hole in her tum to put the puppies in (and get them back out again.) The three puppies are different colours – white, mid brown and darker brown – and each is either a boy or girl but you won't get to know which until they are born and wet with the cloth – they get a blue or pink heart on the back of their necks. All in all, this is a lovely Barbie set which is enchanting to children when they see the puppies born. Moreover, Barbie is now an animal lover and has a lovely dog and gorgeous little puppies.

Our four-year-old niece enjoys role-play and dogs, so this seemed like a good option. In this set you get Barbie who can kneed down, although she isn't jointed everywhere. These days, Barbie comes sensibly proportioned, wearing a top and shorts with trailers, no high heels. In the pack, you get a generic dog and three puppies. The dog has a plastic couch, and there was a surprise in store, because -- this is somewhat educational -- you press the dog's head and she will give birth to 3 puppies. They don't come forth from quite the right area, but it gives a clue as to what's what. If Barbie then bathes the puppies in the paw-shaped dog bath, a section on the neck changes colour to tell Barbie whether she has a male or a female puppy. So there is some interactivity to this. This is suitable only for a three-year-old plus, but it is suggested that this is best for a four-year-old and upwards.Barbie's colourful past aside, here, she is now a reasonable-looking teenage doll with an interest in animals pet.

The modern Barbie character is more suited for a younger child compared to the Barbie I grew up with (80s/90s), so parents who don't feel comfortable with their daughters playing with Barbie-and-her-near-impossible-proportioned-figure and platinum hair can be rest assured here. Anyway on to this particular doll; as an adult I'm very impressed with this doll as for just over £20 you get a jointed Barbie, a 'mummy' dog, THREE puppy figurines, and a few other play pieces (dog bed, water tray, towel). The special gimmick for this set is that the puppy figurines have blue and/or pink hearts, which are revealed when you wipe their chests with the damp towel - it adds a tiny element of surprise. The best thing is that kids can play with it straight out of the box, without needing to spend more money on extra pieces or batteries, so I'm likely to buy a few more boxes of the same set as birthday/xmas presents for people family and friends children since the doll has proved to be so popular here.

My granddaughter is a firm Barbie fan and also loves dogs, so she was delighted with this excellent playset. Although this set is aimed at four to nine year olds, our three year old was perfectly at home with it.Included with Barbie is a dog, three pups, a “delivery tub” that doubles as a puppy bed and a bowl and sponge.Barbie’s clothes can be changed and, unlike most Barbies, this one has bending knees, so she can be knelt down to help the dog deliver her three pups. Stand mummy in the delivery tub and press gently down on her back to deliver a pup. All three can be stored inside her and they are delivered one-by-one. This can be done over and over again, and it will be!!Having helped deliver the pups, the child can use the bowl and sponge to wash the pups to open their eyes and reveal their gender; blue heart for a boy, pink heart for a girl.Good fun, and educational. You might also like to look at https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0756JWK6C

Mattel's Barbie has been around since 1959 and she is looking pretty good for her age – 60 this year! Since she was launched over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold and she seems to be undergoing something of a renaissance at the moment. This Barbie Newborn Pups Set comes with a Barbie doll included plus the mother dog and her three pups with their various accessories. The age guide is five to nine years, but you may need to supervise those at the the younger end of the range if you need to explain where puppies actually come from. Currently around twenty-three pounds from Amazon this is a reasonable value item with some educational value that would be a decent gift idea for young Barbie fans.Underneath the product title on this Amazon page there is a blue “Barbie” link which will take you to the Amazon Barbie store if you click on it – plenty more gift ideas featured there for Barbie's many fans. Five stars for the right market.

This set goes beyond the other Barbie sets i have seen. It includes a barbie doll, with knees that bend, a mummy dog that looks like a golden retreiver, three puppies, a bed, a paw shaped dish and a cloth and bottle. You put the puppies inside the mummy dog (via a flap in her tummy - not in the area they generally come out of you'll be delighted to know) and then push the dogs head and she 'delivers' a puppy. Another two presses and she delivers the other two puppies. You can put the puppies back in as often as you like and redeliver them!Use the cloth to 'bathe' the puppies to reveal their gender. This set will appeal to any Barbie fan that wants to be a vet or loves dogs. There is plenty of opportunity for play and story telling. Maybe you'll be a vet and the dog will be struggling with birth and only you can help? Its up to you!

This is a fun Barbie set, especially for children who particularly like animals. Barbie comes with a dog, three pups, (which can be put inside the mummy dog again and again, to recreate the drama), a blue bed, plus a bowl and sponge, so you can wash the pups when they are born.Place the puppies inside the mummy dog. You then put her inside the blue bed and press on her head, until she delivers the puppies – press too hard and they will fly out, so gentle pushes are advisable! Once the pups are ‘born’ you wash them with cold water and their eyes will open and either a blue, or pink, heart will appear, so show you whether the pup is a boy, or a girl.Good fun and it comes with a Barbie doll, who can kneel down, so her mobility is better than many of the dolls, who have fixed legs.

This is a Barbie set containing a Barbie doll and a golden retriever style dog which is about to have three puppies (via an anatomically incorrect method, I must say!). The set comes with some little accessories for tending to the newborn puppies, and gives a sort of sanitised introduction to the realities of dog motherhood... It's very cute, and my little friend was terribly pleased with it. Please note that the accessories and the puppies are very small, so need to be kept out of reach of very small children.Cute, if wildly medically inaccurate, set for Barbie and dog loving children.

Unfortunately this is my daughter’s least favourite Barbie doll.Whilst as her mum, I love the fact this Barbie is casual and wearing shorts, t-shirts and trainers, for a 6 year old girl, she prefers the more glam dolls.Once I explained the role of a veterinary, she took to this a little more, but honestly not a lot more. She plays with the three pups more than the actual doll. They ride around in the back of the ambulance set fairly often :-)This is an excellent quality Barbie, she moves and joints bend making playing with easier and more enjoyable.

This is a really cute Barbie set for animal loving kids. Not only is the Barbie cute as always, but the little puppies are really cute too. You don't know whether they are boys or girls straight away, which adds a bit of fun, but they are too tiny I do worry about how easily they will get lost and the set is incomplete, but whilst ever they are all accounted for it is all good.As usual with all the kids toys there is far too much plastic packaging, but other than that they toy itself is pretty cute and the little girl recipient really loved it.

This Barbie FDD43 FAMILY Newborn Pups Pet set is a lovely little toy and doll set for a young child to play with. Along with the standard sized blonde haired and blue eyed classic Barbie doll you get a pet dog, three puppies, a bed/bath, a water bowl for all the dogs and a water bottle and mini towel. The puppies have a cute feature in that you can reveal their gender and open their eyes by washing them in cold water to reveal a little coloured heart on their chest. This is a lovely set and a great addition to any child's Barbie doll collection.

Cute Barbie dog and her dog who gives birth to 3 adorable puppies. You can wash the pups so their eyes open. My granddaughter absolutely loves her and the dog. She isn’t that keen on the pups. All due to the fact she kept losing them.Barbie is very pretty. She has lovely hair that can be gently brushed. I love the fact she has bendy legs. This means she can ride her horse, sit on her own sofa, and drive her car. The possibilities are endless with this Barbie. The the money little girls get a lot of endless fun.

This is a perfect combination for my youngest daughter aged 10 who loves Barbie and who wants a puppy. I do not want to walk a dog every morning and so this is a cheaper and better option than a real dog. With the mother dog you get three new born puppies that do actually fit in the mother dog and can come out her tummy for a real style birth. You also get a Barbie with flexible knees so she can get down to pick up and play with the puppies. A great gift at a reasonable price of £23.For ages 3 plus.
