I really enjoy this game, it's great with larger groups but you need to understand it first before unleashing it upon people who don't know and particularly on people who have not played games like this.In essence it is a wild west shoot out, you have a multiple roles there is the Sheriff, the Outlaw, the Renegade and the Deputy. Each has their style of play. The sheriff wants to kill the outlaws and the renegade. The Outlaws want to kill the Sheriff (though they don't care who they kill). The Deputy is helping the sheriff to kill the outlaws and the renegade. The Renegade has the hardest job as he wants to be the last man standing but to win he has to kill the sheriff last (at any point before this the Outlaws win)so he has to swap sides and turn on the sheriff at the last moment. Each person has a character that gives them a special ability and health (between 3-4 hitpoints)and everyone picks their role at random - Only the Sheriff reveals who they are, everyone else plays it face down and they cannot tell anyone who they are. You work out by their actions i.e. is someone next to the sheriff not shooting him? they could be a deputy or Renegade. Is someone always making a point to try and shoot the Sheriff? they could be a Outlaw. The roles available change on the number of players, in 4 it's 1 Sheriff, 1 Renegade and 2 Outlaws. 5= 1 Sheriff, 1 Renegade, 2 outlaws and 1 Deputy. 6 has an addition Outlaw and 7 has another Deputy. You play in a circle/round a table and the person next to you is a distance of 1 away (everyone starts with a gun that shoots at a distance of 1) - the person next to them is 2 away so you can't shoot them until you get a better gun or the person next to you is dead (whenever someone dies the distances shift).everyone is dealt cards for their hand (to the their starting health i.e. so a person with 3 hit points starts with 3 cards), the sheriff always starts the round and picks up 2 cards from the pile (everyone starts their go by picking up 2 cards), he can play any number of cards as he can on his go except he/she can only play 1 Bang!, a Bang! is basically a shot at someone and it can only be done to someone in range - to counter a Bang! you play Missed (Mancato!), you heal hit points lost with Beer. There are 2 types of cards; brown cards that are used and discarded immediately (such as Bang!, Missed and Beer though are others that allow you to steal other opponents cards (Panico/Panic) or Discard a someone's card (Cat Balou)) and others that you play and have a continued effect until they are stolen/discarded or player is dead (these include guns but also Mustang (everyone see's you at a distance of +1) and Scope (you see everyone at a distance of -1, etc) (you can only have 1 of each type of blue rimmed card in front of you). After the Sheriff play then goes clockwise to the next player. At the end of your turn you can only hold cards in your hand as the remaining hitpoints that your character has (i.e. if my character started the round with 4 hitpoints and after i started my go (so i've picked up a further 2 cards) i only have 2 hitpoints left (and if i can't play any cards) when my go is finished i must discard 4 cards (so 2 in my hand to match the 2 hitpoints i have).Rounds keep going until any one of the players roles are fulfilled e.g. Outlaws kill the Sheriff so the game stops as the Outlaws have won etc.You can play multiple games after one another, you can give everyone new characters and roles OR those who at the end of the last game survived can keep their character (everyone is given a role at random but those who died are given a new character). We have played quiet a few times with friends and played so that we have used all the characters in one sitting. The issue is that you have the general rules that you can explain but because of all the symbols and the character powers it can be a bit overwhelming and needs to be explained a few times. So we found that it helps having a person who knows the game be the sheriff so that other people can see what they are doing. But that said once they get it a lot of the people i've played it with (teenagers - 60's) have really enjoyed and we've played a couple of rounds.i'm looking forward to getting the expansion :P.....

Bang 4th Edition is a light-tactic spaghetti western shoot-out cardgame. The object of the game is to fufill your role as one of four roletypes: The Sheriff, the Deputy, the Outlaw or the Renegade. The game is played best with 4 - 7 players and the more the better, although 7 players at the most. Each player randomly receives a charactercard to determine special abilities, and a secret rolecard to determine their goal: The Sheriff must kill all Outlaws and the Renegade to win the game, the Deputy must protect the Sheriff at all cost to win (even if he dies, the Deputy will win if the Sheriff wins), the Outlaw(s)must kill the Sheriff to win and the Renegade must simply be the last person standing in order to win the game (note that the game ends with any player achieving their preassignet goals, i.e. if the Outlaws(s) kill the Sheriff, the Renegate can not continue the fight and attemt to kill the remaining players. This sound pretty straightforward, however the interesting aspect of this game is that only the Sheriff are known as the Sheriff to all players, all other roles are kept secret and only revealed in case of the players being killed. This way not even any deputies is known and the Sheriff might accidentially wound his deputy in attemting to thin out the ranks of the troublesome enemies of the law. (Should this happen the Sheriff is penalized severely so caution is required, at least early in the game.)Each player has a unique special character that they draw randomly before game commences; this character determin the healthpoint/strengh of the player, handlimit, and offers a special power/advantage. There are 16 different character cards in the game, so players are likely to use many different playing styles depending on both their charactercard (visible to all players) and their role card (hidden, except the Sheriff.)Players draw cards on their turn from the drawdeck an collect weapons, bullets, beers (health), range items, horses and event cards like saloon cards, duels, general store, indians, panic ect. Then the shooting starts and the game flows; "The Outlaws hunt the Sheriff. The Sheriff hunts the Outlaws. The Renegade plots secretly, ready to take one side or the other. Bullets fly. Who among the gunmen is a Deputy, ready to sacrifice himself for the Sheriff? And who is a merciless Outlaw, willing to kill him? If you want to find out, just draw (your cards)!" (From back of the box)The artwork on the cards are very nice and contribute to a fun and western-like playing experience. The only thing I don't really like about the game is the fact that players can be eliminated (killed) and thus have to wait untill the round is finished. Not that there is anything wrong about being killed in a western game (of course not), but when playing in a group of friends, the dead player(s) is left without anything to do but wait an hope for a quick end to the game. This problem can be adressed by setting a timelimit for each players turn (like one or two min.) as soon as the first player is knocked out.I really like this game and will strongly recomend it to anyone who likes tactics, deception or simply just a westernstyle gunslinger-atmosphere game.Note that the printing is both in Italian and English with the first being first; there is not other versions printed than the one with both languages on it.This is actually a fun little detail because the Italian words are very similar to the English, and they do in some way pay homage to old-fashioned spaghetti western movies.Several expansions exists for this game, but I have not tried any of these yet.A great little game. Indeed.

Having a group of friends who frequently have 'game' evenings (card games boards games etc.) I decided to give 'Bang!' and shot. In general opinions in the group were a little mixed; most of us enjoyed it thoroughly although I doubt it would make any of our 'Top five games ever' list - Here is a quick breakdown of our thoughts on the different aspects of the game:Game Mechanics:Fairly easy to pick up overall; the 'range' system for the weapons is a nice touch and the symbols on the cards make it easy to see what's going on. The lack of explanatory text on the cards does however mean that the first few plays involve some reference to the rules and we found a few points where the exact usage of cards was a little ambiguous however 'house rules'were soon established. The 'secret roles' of each player do make the game interesting and in one particular play through there was alot of bluffing as to who was an outlaw, renegade or deputy; If you like playing werewolves/mafia then this feature of the game will appeal to you and I think as we play it more then it will become more relevant. The one complaint most people have about this game is the player elimination - it can be fairly easy to kill a player early on but the latter parts of the game can drag meaning that people might be sat around waiting for play to finish.Look/Feel of the product itself:The cards and play mats are good quality (although I don't think the play mats are exactly necessary) and the artwork is functional yet attractive. It is worth noting that the game is Bilingual with text on cards and rules appearing in both Italian and English (with English being the second language) however for us this only added to the amusement as we all tried to play pronouncing the Italian for each card we played - The only difficulty arising from this is the use of the word draw which is used as in 'draw': to take a card and add it to you hand or 'DRAW!': a game mechanic where you look at the card value of the next card in the deck to decide the outcome of an event.Bottom Line:An enjoyable game - play it at the start of an evening, or at the end as there is not too much thinking involved. I found that after playing once I wanted to look for the expansions and I happened to find a very small expansion set called 'A fist full of cards' which added an extra twist by introducing game modifiers that change with each round. This expansion also acts as a timing element as the final modification makes the game practically sudden death.

Bang is a brilliant game. Its also one of the very few games which works well ith loads of players. The rules are pretty straight forward, but when played with a full group the game has surprising depth and its great fun.I would recommend picking up the first expansion (Dodge City) or buying the Deluxe 'Bullet' edition (which includes the first three expansions) because it really does add to the game. The second and third expansion dont really add a great deal.Bang is my go-to amily gathering game. Its something my wife, parents and grand-parents all enjoy. My son enjoys it too but he doesn't play: he just sits on my lap and enjoys the fact he's with family and everyone is laughing, whilst trying to grab cards and shove them in his mouth - I'm hoping in a few years he may join in the fun. Few games really can entertain four generations.

Some of the advantages this game has over other party games are:- It can be played with 4 to 7 players, and it remains fun even when less players are in game (unlike some other games)- Due to the roles being random, each game is different every time- Relatively easy to grasp the basic rules- The individual characters of the players around the table influences gameplay very heavilyThe only thing that I was disappointed with was that, even though this is the English version of the game, the instructions and explanations on the individual cards are first written in Italian, then in English. I had assumed that they would have been only in English.

Played this at my local gaming group and really enjoyed it. Decided to buy it as a christmas present for my sister one year. It's a really fun game, and it's as good as your play group is. Your players need to have the ability to act, otherwise it's not a very fun game. It may also be a bit tricky for kids, so I would recommend something else if you're thinking of playing this with children. The game has great replay-ability as each role has it's own tactics and play style. It's a good size to carry to events/friends house/coffee shops, and you don't need much space to play it.Highly recommend this game, super fun!

I have known this game for quite a some time. I bought it now to have English version to take to team building and it provided us with long nights of fun. When bandit persuades the sheriff to shoot a vice or when renegade and vice are left and sheriff has no idea which is which, hilarity ensues. Best to play with as many people as possible (base game allows for 7 players, expansions can add more). Can only recommend!

Bang is a really great game! Once you've had one round working out what the different cards do the game is pretty straightforward and so much fun. It works for a range of ages - we've played it with 13 to 30 year olds! It's been a hit amongst our friends and family, I would definitely recommend!

4.7.2010

it's a fun game that's easy to pick up, similar in some ways to citadels if you have played that. You can play with alot of people, it's easy to pick up and there's a certain amount of bluff that keeps it fun for a while. Good game for parties with wine and catching up.No educational value.

It arrved reasonably on time, and I have loved the game since a long time ago. The instructions could be a little bit clearer, and the packaging is bulky (I was expecting something smaller). But once everyone gets the hang of it, it is a really fun and nice game!

Bang! is a brilliant card game especially when played in a big group. It's kind of a bit like Cluedo in that you need to figure out who the Sheriff, Outlaws and Renegades are. Definitely read the instructions well before you play!

I love this game!!! So much fun to spend a cool evening with friends, the package is perfectly close as you buy the game from the shop!!! If you like board games is definitely worthed :)

This is character based card game: you play one of the available characters (outlaws, sheriff, deputy, renegade) without knowing other people's characters. Just a lot of fun!

26.3.2018

A great game although it can be hard to find enough people to play. if you can easily get 4-7 people to play a game though you shouldn't have a problem.
