I love music, in fact I can't live without it, if I'm not listening to it, I have a song/tune in my head pretty much 24/7, which is why I was ecstatic when I unwrapped this on Christmas Day morning - me and my husband use the same Prime account making present buying possibly troublesome if not for the "hide order" option. Great idea Amazon!Onto the speaker, it really is very nice to look at. It's a good weight also, very robust however the options on the side could be hard to see if you don't have particulary good eyesight. For me this isn't a problem however my husband cannot see it as clearly as myself. The sound really is 360, no matter where you stood, it eminated from the centre of everywhere.The music part though.... Wow, just wow. I pretty much played my whole music collection over a week or so and I was nothing short of gobsmacked. I tried everything: Buckethead, Pink Floyd, The Prodigy, Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Santana, The Beatles, New Order, The Stone Roses, NIN... the list goes on. It was fantastic! Particularly when I got to Karen Carpenter and Mama Cass, it was so clear you could hear Karen Carpenter breathing! It took my breath away. The clarity had me in shock when listening to a few of my absolute faves: Bill Conti The Final Bell; John Murphy Sunshine Adagio in D Minor; NIN Hurt; the Stones' Wild Horses; The Stone Roses This Is The One and I Am The Ressurrection; Atmosphere from Joy Division and Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here and they were sublime, so crisp. I finally turned it up to full blast during Sunshine, it was blasting out, shaking our tv yet still so clear, zero distortion whatsoever. These, and so many others, are my absolute favourites to listen to and to hear them so clearly is brilliant!The bass level is fantastic also, not too much however you can certainly hear it. My husband doesn't love music like myself (giving me a few strange looks during my music experimenting!) however even he couldn't help marvel when the Rocky OST came on. I pretty much had to sit on him to stop him skipping during Hearts On Fire! He also heard instruments from the Superman Theme that he had never heard in the 40 years of listening before. I've been playing all types of guitar since I was 12 years old and this would make a great amplifier if possible, however sadly it is not.I apologise for the length and depth of this review however I honestly cannot tell you enough how happy this has made me. I will never buy another piece of sound equipment from any other brand ever again. Thank you B&O, you made Christmas 2018 very special indeed.Mrs M.

BEO A1 is class!! So, I have always used my trusty Sonos players that I have all over house, 5 to be exact! I like my music! If I needed to listen to a wav or mp3 from an email or Wetransfer, I could usually fly it straight to Sonos using 'play from my device' on iOS iPhone. This seems to have been removed from Sonos app. So now I need to grab a set of quality earbuds (which is usually a palaver) and you are then pretty much captive audience to your own ears! I finally did the research and went from a £24 piece of wannabe rubbish to this bad boy/girl! I love it! The B&O styling, the sound, the technology.... it's incomparable! I watched hrs of youtube clips comparing to Bose, JBL etc...this kept coming up tops! Now I have it, I can see why. Yes it's as big as a BK whoppa, (especially in the highly recommended zippered hardcase I bought for it) however size IS everything in audio... the weight VS technology present is clearly why it's this big... (or is it actually a huge speaker made portable?!?!.. you choose.)Also download the app as you can really tweak EQ to your fave settings via your 'go to' test track - we all have one don't we?Finally I found this youtube shootout very helpful, look up 'B&O Beoplay A1 - speaker shootout'Shoutout to Olav! Very impartial info and testing at full volume. This A1 is very loud!!

Considering the size of the speaker, the sound is amazingly powerful and bass is taut. Stereo imaging is good. The B&O play app for Android is easy to use. I bought two units and pairing was speedy. I noticed that there were owners who reported that it was a pain to use the app though. As regard to battery life claims, International Consumer Research and Testing (ICRT) (international-testing.org) recently tested many wireless speakers including this Beoplay A1. It was revealed that the battery life of the samples ICRT members bought in the market lasted for only 6 hours at reasonable listening level. Charge time was tested 4 hours. B&O chose to exaggerate A1's battery life by a significant margin,in this case by 4 times. The statements that "Beoplay A1 will still be playing long after most competitors have gone silent with up to 24 hours at normal volume levels", "Battery lasts up to 24 hours at normal volume levels", and "all-day battery life" are just jokes. If battery life is important, one may consider JBL Charge3. According to ICRT, Charge3's battery life was tested 23 hours and charge time was 3 hours something.

Best sounding portable speaker out there!B&O have hit the jackpot with this outstanding speaker. The sound is loud, punchy, rich and emits the most beautiful of tones that should not be possible for a speaker so small! I am giving B&O more than 5 stars for this outstanding portable speaker.I agree with everyone else about the negatives though...the app...bad design...should be easy enough to sort that out in the future. Controls - fiddly, almost invisible but not poor enough to lose a star and finally, my last niggle is that this doesn't come with a case! Be warned that the little strap has a hard B&O tag on the end - i bought the speaker at the airport and it got scratched by this lump on the strap in transit.I'm sure if B&O do address the design of the controls,then nobody could score this less than a 5!

Astonishing sound from such a small unit. Voices project well and simply float in the air whilst bass is tight and extended producing notes well below what you might expect from such a small unit.Sound quality can be significantly changed and I believe improved by resting the speaker on a simple plate display stand so the speaker is sitting almost upright. Although sounding more conventional when positioned this way, the sound is quite markedly improved and the quality of reproduction more enjoyable. This is really a beautiful sounding little speaker. I've also purchased a good leather carry case from eBay for just a few pounds so the speaker can be safely taken with us on holiday!This quality of sound can't be left at home!

This is a thing of physical and utilitarian beauty. The sound is exquisite, especially from a unit this size. The only thing preventing me giving it 5 stars is the absolute joke that is the manufacturer’s stated claim of ‘24 hour battery life’. They really should be sued for such an enormous mis-selling lie under the trade descriptions act. I manage 3-4 hours maximum, depending on volume. I can stretch it to possibly 5 hours if I play it at 10-20% volume. I can see this is a recurring comment amongst all the other reviews. The only thing stopping me from returning this for a refund is the sound quality. I have no idea how B&O have got away with this. Heads need to roll..

The best portable speaker I have owned.I had the Bose Mini 2 and loved it. I thought nothing could offer a better overall package - sound quality, hands free calling ability, build quality, etc.However, after watching tons of YouTube video reviews, I decided to take the dive and try it out.I was first amazed at the physical beauty - the colour (I got the black), the unique round shape, the size and weight...Looked like a piece of art.Then the sound production...Wow!!!I am simply blown away.And it handles hands free call!Take the plunge and buy it. You won't regret it.

Much of the good things that can be said about these has been said before. Just thought I’d leave a review to respond to poor reviews regarding the battery life only being a matter of minutes. The first few times that I used them, the battery died after less than three tunes. And I wasn’t too impressed to say the least. Thereafter there was a step change and the battery life was as advertised. It’s as if the battery needs priming, and I’m surprised the instructions don’t say words to this effect.

Bought this speaker so that i can take this on my upcoming holidays. Speaker is portable & the sound quality is amazing, loud, crisp, punchi however manufacturer claims that the battery last up to 24hrs which is certainly not true. Battery life depends on what kind of music u play & how loud it is. 4 me it wouldn't even last for 2 hrs at 75% volume and some other issues with the bluetooth range. So if you are after sound quality this is for you and if you after battery life look somewhere else.

I use this speaker in our living room. It fills up 15 sqm very easily with less than half of the volume. To my surprise bass is strong and well defined. Speaker is heavy so it doesn't bounce around the table with that strong bass. Battery holds incredibly long. We don't listen to it regularly (probably about 5ish hours every week) so we need to charge it only once a month (or maybe even more, I don't remember when's the last time I charged it). Overall amazing product and I highly recommend it!

When the product arrived it was packaged well, was set in a foam surround to protect it. The box had product information clearly on it.The speaker is well designed, It was a little bigger then I imaged. When setting it up it comes with a small booklet that tells you to download the app. This was very easy to do and set up was simple. Once set up the sound quality is amazing! It is very clear and pure. And goes to a good volume level. I really like the added feature of a microphone.

They didn’t sound especially loud when I first tried them out but this is a powerful little unit. The deceptiveness comes from the fact that these little speakers can handle full power power all day long without distortion. You quickly realise that it is in fact pretty damn loud, especially for a speaker this size. The bass is present even at low volumes and the overall sound is balanced and crisp. These speakers are expensive but now I’m glad I didn’t go for the cheaper option.

This is my first B&O product and I couldn't be happier with it.As others have mentioned, you do lose some bass over 50-60% volume but honestly, that is a small price to pay for the (in my experience) unbelievable sound quality this thing produces. I've been hearing new sounds in tracks I have been listening to for years. Everything is so rich and deep that it honestly feels like magic. I have been SERIOUSLY missing out.This is well worth a look. Highly recommended.

Love Argos, they sell only real cool products like the beoplay A1, there products are the real deal, not imitations,fab items that look good and work perfectly like the beoplay A1, good connection to the beoplay app, Bluetooth, great condition, perfect working order,loud rich sound and bass, handsome looking pice of kit,fab and groovy product that looks good anywhere, will definitely be buying another from Argos in the future so i can hook two up via Bluetooth

We love this speaker! Everyone in my house has used this speaker both indoors and outdoors. Recently used for a party and the comments where amazing. Easy to connect too in under 5 seconds I’m linked up.The build quality is exceptional, having a nice weight and size. Easy charging and hours of playback on one charge. The sound is phenomenal rich layered sounds that you can customise to suit your music styles if you download the app on your smart phone.
