Bought two of these based on the reviews. The previous gates we had cost more and had a more complex locking and release mechanism which seized up frequently. We went back to basics with these gates and happy we made that choice as they are working perfectly. They open with one hand and without any complication. They were easy to install with the templates provided. My only gripe would be the supplied spanner is too large for the locking nuts.Overall a very good and we would recommend it.

This is a great quality, great value product. Word of warning though: I, personally, wouldn't get one if you need to fit it directly to a plaster/brick wall - unless you have the space/inclination to fit (and possibly fill, sand, paint etc.) a wooden batten first. I've now owned several of these and they're perfect to attach to wooden frames. They may be a bit fiddly for an average DIYer to be messing around with drills, raw plugs etc. on, and you'd need to source your own screws for that too.

We have a narrow staircase so needed this on the smallest setting (once the "Newell post adapter" was included). Setting up at the right width was easy & I can see how we'll be able to reconfigure it if we move it to a new location in future. I don't love that it's metal - little one whacks noisy toys against it... sorry neighbours! But I think it would be too difficult to make the expandable setup in other materials so I understand. It's got BabyDan's standard easy-to-use opening mechanism.

Really good gate, simple, strong, very versatile width settings. Needs to have two flat and parallel surfaces to mount to. Hinge side must really be fitted to a solid surface so not suitable for a stud/partition wall. Best thing is that it opens leaving virtually a full width space to go through and there's no annoying fixed bottom floor bar to get in the way. Takes a bit of precision to mount the fixings in the right position but comes with two paper templates to help. Great value for money.

Fit for a friend this time, they had bought the non screw pressure fit ones. They wouldn't fit because of the skirting boards. These worked fine and are very sturdy. I wouldn't trust anything without screws at the top of the stairs.Only four stars as the guide to setting up is hard to follow. Holding a thin strip of paper to the wall, means you wiill always be slightly off.I have put up several of these and my advice is put the attachments up one at a time, and check them before the next.

This has no bottom bar to give a trip hazard and it is genuinely a one-hand opening latch. The template provided gives easy marking out for fixings and the 2 frames are easy to join together to give the variable width. The paint job was a bit of a let down but not too noticeable. You cannot easily move it from place to place as the mounts are screwed in, but for a few pounds you can get extra wall/door mounts from the manufacturer to set up additional places as the gate itself just pops out.

I'm very pleased with this stair gate, fitting it was fairly straight forward and having cut outs was very handy for getting height and positioning right. It's no trip so ideal for where we have put it at the top of the stairs. It's a tad fiddly opening one handed and especially with a squirming toddler in arm, but then again I have to find a stair gate that isn't fiddly. Another bonus for us is it's very easy to clip the gate part off completely and store it out the way for when not in use.

bought this gate to keep my 15 month old from climbing the stairs.easy to fit and does the job. when i first fit the gate it was quite hard to open with one hand because as you press the lock, you are lifting it at the furthest point from the hinge and not in the middle of the gate.(the gate is slightly leaning under its own weight).i got around this by keeping the adjusting bars to a minimum length at the hinge end and applied a bit of multi purpose grease (NOT WD40) to the top sliding pin.

Purchased this for top of stairs, as I'm accident prone and wanted a no-trip gate. Also I did not want a pressure fit gate as one side was connecting to the banister post and did not want to put undue stress on it.Instructions are not the clearest, and did require some DIY to fit, but expected this as have a thick skirting board on the staircase.I configured the gate to open one way, it drops into the latches with no resistance, feels sturdy when closed, and opens one-handed with ease.

Price was fair I think I bought it while it was slightly reduced. I had bought 2 other stair gates and returned them due to not fitting my doors others were slightly too big. This one is perfect.. I can extend it further than I need. It was easy to put together took me maybe 10 minutes including attaching to the wall. My 6 year old can open it with ease but my youngest 2 can't thankfully which is who it was intended for.The button can be quite stiff at times but overall its a great gate

We replaced a gate that was not screwed to the door frame and was constantly falling down. This gate is solid and strong and lifts away easily when we don't want it. It is easy to use (one hand) and it is fitted across a quite narrow door frame. It took a while to construct but not impossible at all. Im not a big DIY-er & I managed it. Besides, I wanted something that would last (we use ours as a dog gate so it will be up for years...) so fair enough it requires more care in putting up.

I fitted the gate to stop my granddaughter gaining access to the stairs I then recommended the gate to my daughter who got one and I fitted both gates. I found it easier with the second gate by fitting one side of the gate and then measuring the other side with gate hanging on the other side. Took a while to fit however I was able to fit the second one easily. Good gate and it can be removed from the fittings when it’s not required and easily put in place when the granddaughter comes.

This gate does the job perfect, we are using it at the top of the stairs in our home as we were struggling to find a gate to do the job as we have a little over a small size yet slight difference in the width. Our daughter is safe behind this gate very strong once in (was worried as it is two plastic fixing catches screwed to wall) but even when her weight is fully against it it does not budge. Very easy to open and close one handed which helps when needed. Would highly recommend.

Looked around for ages for a screw fix stair gate for the top of the stairs now that my son is crawling. My stairs are quite wide at the top but this gate is adjustable so it fits perfectly, I was able to adjust the bolts at the top to make it fit around the skirting board. The metal frame makes it feel very sturdy. This gate is perfect for people on a budget as its low cost but great quality. The only negative I can think of is that the instructions can be a bit confusing.

Fitted this gate in a door opening, followed everything to a T and yet the clasp doesn't work the way it should for me. Feels that part needs to move slightly, which is a bit annoying as those parts are screwed into the wood and not easily moved. But it does work and keeps our toddler safe from the stairs. It's great this one comes up small, as our door openings do, it's not fast to extend, but at least no worries about it being delicate. Happy with the product overall.
