We have a model of Babybjörn’s One from about 5 years ago. It was a good carrier, feeling secure and sturdy, whilst easy to put on and get baby in to. However, it was also a little too rigid and too hot. The fold down front section wouldn’t stay folded and it was bulky. This updated model is better in many ways, being made of softer, lighter and airier material. The straps and catches have not changed over time; you pull the carrier on over your head and then fix straps around your waist and behind your back with a simple catch. Getting your baby in needs a little practice, mostly to get the angle right when trying to get the latches to connect to each other.Once all done up, everything feels nice and secure. The position tends to bury baby’s face into your chest, which can feel a little unnatural and I’m always paranoid whether the little one can actually breathe or not under there. At the same time, this is probably to ensure the head stays secure whilst you’re moving around, so I guess it is a compromise you learn to live with. From experience with the earlier model, as your little one grows they will arrive at a size where the head is between the chest straps and raising or lowering the height doesn’t offer a decent compromise. The end result is reduced head mobility and a position that doesn’t look at all comfortable. They’ll grow through this, but it is an area where a redesign (to widen the opening) seems needed, but has not be dealt with for this model. We only had one other baby carrier before moving to the Babybjörn and the difference was quite stark. This carrier is expensive, but you do get something for your money. It is much less fiddly than cheaper models tend to be, the materials are better quality and more durable and the level of comfort for the wearer is much better. A downside of that comfort is that it makes the carrier very bulky, to the point of needing an extra bag to put it in if you want to take it off (because you’re hot, for example). It still represents a large investment, especially given the amount of stuff you find yourself buying for your first child, and I can’t say it is justifiable. We didn’t actually use our first carrier all that much, usually having a pram or pushchair in reserve we used that more often. We used it most for airports and other special occasions rather than everyday. Some people might want to forego the pram and rely on the carrier all the time, but you usually end up wanting to lie your little one down at some point and start keeping a pram in reserve when you go out anyway. If you have the budget and are looking for a high quality baby carrier, this does fit the bill nicely. It screams quality and has some clever features, like the ticket that explains how to put it on and install your infant stitched into the top that you can just pull out and refer to. It is not without fault though and you’re obviously paying extra for the brand, so I’m not quite ready to give it a full five stars.

This is an amazing, albeit pricey piece of kit.It would really come into its own with a new born, particularly if you are having to struggle with the London public transport system. You could very likely get away with not having a pram for a couple of months but it would mean you are also lugging a huge bag of baby stuff as well.We are using it for a boisterous and happy eleven month year old.The packaging says up to three years....... If so you either want a small or light child or an immensely strong adult to carry a child very far. The 5ft Au-pair has refused to use itFor our eleven month year old it is pretty brilliant. He loves being carried at chest height,if you are walking along with someone you can have a conversation with him at eye level. It is much more immediate. Brilliant if you have to go on the tube. No longer trying to negotiate steps, lifts and relying on the kindness of strangers. Brilliant if you want to go to a crowded place like an exhibition. It feels much safer than a pram people fall over or don't take any notice of.I can see this working really well on walks in the country or on a summer holiday when you want to walk across a beach or a path to get to a more private bit. Mind you I'm pretty sure it's my husband who will do the bulk of the carrying when it is longer distances. We have a very muscly bouncy baby. He suggests if your child is older and you are going further maybe use the back setting. If you are novices I reckon allow about twenty minutes to get your act together and work out how to use it. There is a very good instruction leaflet in multiple languages. Much more importantly is a long label attached to the carrier which again is really helpful. We are using it for a toddler/crawler and have used the larger setting, (see the photo above). The straps, buckles and carrier are all of incredible quality and surprisingly comfortable. It was quite fiddly working it all out (the twenty minutes suggestion). Really recommend you start out by trying it sitting down in case you miss out any of the key straps. Dropped baby not a good idea. The baby was interested in being put in place, (not dropped either) no complaints and seemed happy enough facing towards the chest but really loved the outward facing position. He was very happy and loves looking people in the eye when we are out and about.Might be worth not going on a huge expedition at first in case your child does not like it.In terms of any snags, we found it difficult to keep the carrier front from standing back up (when it is in the front position) and may give it a stitch to keep it down. Also, for a larger child you will need good core strength. It's not a substitute for a pram in the long term but a really useful addition.

Compared to the Baby Bjorn Carrier One, there are three key differences for this "One Air" upgrade:1. The mesh that the carrier is made of is more aerated.2. There are new loops to tuck straps into.3. There are two mini straps designed to held fold down the head support when baby is front-facing.So how do these fare?1. Great improvement. Stops baby overheating when wrapped up. Also feels like less of a weight for parents to have on.2. A good improvement, as it stops the belt and shoulder straps flapping around. However, I've not found this version of the carrier as comfortable around the arms/shoulders as the Baby Bjorn Carrier One, and I think it is because all these loops result in there being a bit less give in the straps once they are on.That's not too say it is uncomfortable at all, but I never had any comfort issues with the original Carrier One, whereas with the Carrier One Air, I've found it tricky to get it comfy around my left shoulder. Not sure if the dimensions of this version of the carrier are slightly different and therefore contributing to the altered comfort.3. Not a great upgrade. The straps seem fairly ineffective. That said, the flap folds down much more easily than on the earlier version purely because of the softer mesh material used in the One Air. I've tried tightening and loosening the straps in all sorts of ways (the instruction manual is quite vague) but they don't seem to make a jot of difference to whether the flap stays down - which it doesn't always. That's a key annoyance. The flap will be down and will just pop up in the baby's face - and because of the positioning of the child, their head stops you being able to see when it has happened. Several times I've had to wait for someone to tell me the flap has popped into my baby's face. Still, it's better than on the original model, when it was not very good at all.As with the original, baby can face frontwards or towards you while on your front (front-facing is recommended from six months on), or can go on your back. I haven't trialled back carrying yet because my child isn't old enough. When front facing, there is also an extra seat that can be zipped across to support newborns.Something I would like for the next version of this product is a better way to fold it up neatly for storage. As it is now, I roll it up and try and secure it in a roll with the straps, but whether it works is more luck than a science. It's a bit sprawling and messy when not being worn, and often I end up just throwing it in a cupboard.Overall though, this is a comfortable and adaptable carrier. Easy to put on, easy to take off, and my child always seems happy in it.

Ours is the silver version of the Babybjörn Baby Carrier One Air - 3D Mesh - I believe this is the top of the Babybjörn baby carrier range. Aside from silver you can get it in pink, anthracite, slate blue, black and navy blue. It's a top price baby carrier but I think it's worth it for the confidence you have while wearing your baby.Given how strong it is this is quite a lightweight carrier which makes carrying your baby or young toddler achievable for long periods and distances. There is a wealth of padding on the various pressure points over your shoulders and round your waist. It's a clever design that you can fairly quickly figure out how to use, a process made easier by the instructional videos you can find on Babybjörn's website. The owner's manual seems imposing but actually the bit in English is only 5 pages at the beginning. The pictures are clear. There are four distinct ways of using the carrier - with the first method being for newborns that need to weigh over 8lb - the inner zipped platform is done up, your baby faces you while you carry it on your front. There are then two modes for carrying larger babies and toddlers on your front, either facing you or facing away. And finally for children up to about three years, you can swing them round the back. Given that this back position can support toddlers weighing a bit over 30lbs the real question is whether you can take the strain of the weight, particularly if your toddler wants to go explore.Helpfully this carrier is washable so things like food stains and sick don't need to be with you everywhere you go. It also has clever and unique buckle clips that make a reassuring click so you know they're done up.The big question is whether you want to go for this top of the range carrier or something more affordable? Even within the Babybjörn you can easily save fifty quid by going for the Carrier One instead of this Carrier One Air. The thing is, if you're going to be using it for three years, and possibly spanning more than one baby I figure it's worth paying for the quality and lighter weight of the Carrier One Air.

For any new parent, a baby carrier is the item I would recommend – especially if you love to get outdoors and off the beaten track where a pram/pushchair just couldn’t go – even negotiating your way through baby streets and shops is a doddle. I used the Close Caboo Lite for my child up to 14 months – I just loved the closeness of a wrap over a more structured carrier but now he can wriggle his shoulders out of it, it just doesn’t feel that secure so using the Babybjorn One was the perfect transition to carry him on my back instead of my front. With any carrier, I feel the instructions are just so confusing – this one isn’t up to the point of back carrying but there are plenty of videos on YouTube which takes all the confusion away.I would recommend practicing with a big soft toy though rather than baby to begin with. I don’t think I would have liked using this for a newborn though. For me I feel happier using it from 12 months as it doesn’t have the same flexibility to move their hips into the correct position as much as a wrap carrier. Having carried on my front for 14 months (plus 9 months of pregnancy), my centre of gravity is way off so this wasn’t something I could just put on and use straight away – it took a lot of practice with his slightest movements throwing me off balance. Once you get the hang of it though it’s so easy to use and I do feel a lot more durable than a wrap. I don’t like the back yoke being totally attached as it does make the carrier harder to use and because I’m still breastfeeding I need to make sure it’s not digging into the tissue. My partner too finds it very restrictive especially in the colder months when he has several layers on as even when loosened as far as it will go, it is very tight with the weight of the child pulling it back. If we get 18 months or more out of it (up to 3 years) then even that would feel good value for money – if you use it from newborn to 3 years then even better.

As soon as you open the box of this baby carrier you can tell it’s been well designed and the quality of the fittings and material is excellent. My daughter is pregnant so this came at the ideal time and we decided to test it out with a weighted down teddy, not as wriggly or fragile as a real baby but good for practicing with. There’s a few straps, buckles, clips, zips and toggles but it’s fairly straightforward to put on.You then may need to turn to the manual as it’s not immediately obvious what you need to do with a couple of the adjustable parts.Neither of us have any experience using a baby carrier so it’s definitely going to be a learning curve but the video on the listing was really usefulespecially on how to move the carrier from front to back.I wouldn’t recommend doing this on your own the first time you try it, it’s not as easy as it looks on the video, she’s obviously done it a few times! The manual contains all the info necessary to help you get the best out of the carrier but you can’t take it everywhere as it’s quite heavy. Luckily the company have very cleverly put a mini instruction sheet, made from fabric and attached it to a small pocket on the inside of the carrier. You pull it out, look at the picture instructions for guidance, then pop it back into the pocket, I love it.I like the adjustable seat that enables you to raise your baby up higher, especially useful for newborns, it allows you to feel really close to your baby and administer lots of gentle kisses. The straps have lots of room for adjustment so it will fit even the tallest, widest person with ease and feels really secure. It’s not cheap but it’s suitable for use from birth until about 3 years old, so you will get plenty of use out of it and save it for the next new addition or pass it onto a friend so I definitely think it’s worth the investment.Hope you found my review helpful

This review is for the One Air 3D Mesh. The one I received differs from the images at the top of the page. The carrier I received has a much improved design at the back with a padded lumbar region (if you have the baby on your front) and a more rigid back brace. I am using this to carry my grandson who is 6 months.I found it really important to read the instructions with this baby carrier and ensure you are familiar with the 7 main adjustment points (there are another couple of small adjustments for newborns). I saw other reviews have had trouble adjusting the carrier for different heights and builds but we regularly fit it to my wife who is 5 foot, myself at 5 foot 11 inches and my son who is 6 foot 2 inches with no problem. From other reviews I think the main issue may be adjusting the carrier for different heights. We found the trick is to first adjust the plastic adjuster in the center of the back (if you have the baby in front of you). This adjuster is not obvious but the cords slide through it on either side. Once you've adjusted that then loosen or tighten the straps that pass under your arm. In this way you can easily get the baby to sit higher or lower. Don't forget that you need to adjust the base of the carrier (near your groin) for the size of the baby - the inside of that adjuster has a handy measuring strip. Once you have managed to adjust it, this baby carrier is super comfortable and secure. My son has an older carrier of the same make and comparing them you can see how much the latest carrier has improved, with a lumber pad (if you have the baby on your front), additional padding and a more rigid back part (see picture). In summary this is an excellent, strong, padded and secure baby carrier but make sure you are familiar with all the adjustments

This is a great, lightweight and easy to use carrier for hiking, walking and generally being mobile with your newborn. It also works up to the age of three, but personally you'll likely peak with it around age 2, as by age three they're dense little heavy children! The ways in which you can put it on have been designed very intuitively. You can place it on like a t-shirt, which is super helpful if you're using it alone. The ability to wear it both front and back helps for still being able to use it for when they get bigger and become toddlers. It's definitely more comfortable to have them back slung, but you might want to only do this when they're robust and vocal enough to let you know if something was up,as it's better to have them front slung where you can see them. The big strong tug points to tighten it at the back are also great for solo usage. They're easy to pull in and don't twist or get stuck like thinner nylon straps on other models do.It washes and dries well, which is good because it does get a bit clogged with snot and all sorts of baby gunk. The mesh doesn't help this as they get clogged, however the mesh helps you not sweat atrociously, so its a mild pay off to have the cooling benefits. As you would expect, this has been made, safe, strong and comfortable enough given it's usage circumstances - however putting a heavy child in it and over a long enough period of time will still hurt and ache, and no product is ever going to take that sensation away. However, this one has done really well to make that process as comfortable as possible. My only downside is that the light grey colour doesn't clean up so well with hard to get out stains (vomit, basically) but that's really my only downside.

We've tried a number of different carriers with our little bundle of joy - including the Ergobaby 360, Stokke MyCarrier, Close Parent caboo+ sling and quite possibly the entire Babybjorn range - and the Babybjorn One Air is the best on the market. The carrier is very easy to use; it can be put on in seconds and within a minute you can have your baby secured. Manual adjustments are straightforward to make and there is good support for baby's legs and hips, with no need for a separate newborn insert, as the Babybjorn One Air has an easy-to-use zip instead which raises the height of the 'seat'.The carrier is also really comfortable to wear with its soft, lightweight cotton and mesh fabric. It is lightweight enough to be warn through even the hottest summer days and gives good support across the back with its adjustable strap. The material dries really quickly if it gets wet, which is perfect for our little boy who is teething and he loves to chew on the front of the carrier. The downside to this is that the mesh fabric makes it a little more difficult to clean up any sick, so we have to put it through the wash on occasion to ensure it is hygienically clean. It also doesn't allow access for breastfeeding - which will be a problem for some - and doesn't have any storage space, but this helps keep the weight down (and from what I've seen the storage on other carriers is always so small that it is invariably useless). These minor issues aside, we love our Babybjorn and rarely leave home without it.

I love this Babybjorn Air edition. I had a carrier one with our first some over five years ago. This is a massive evolution of that and Babybjorn are in my opinion the gold standard for not just baby carriers but many other essentials. So, onto this new one. First thing that grips you is how modern the carrier actually looks. I love the styling and the built quality is top notch. Straight away from the first use it is clear a lot of thought has gone into streamlining it. It is now much simpler to get your head around and crucially it is much lighter, which is massive when you have a baby strapped to you.The biggest evolution here though are the materials used. The mesh really does help you keep a bit cooler and most importantly your lo as you don’t want them overheating. The mesh also means it dries quickly if it gets wet or you wash it. Important here in Wales. The cotton used is okeo tex class 1, specially certified for use with infants. There are two front inward facing positions, the difference being head support depending on age. They can also face out on the front or go on your back.Everything is adjustable from bum support, leg width, head support etc and it does take a little while if you are not used to it to configure it spot on.These baby carriers have bene a game changer for us. It has given us independence when one of us is in work and the other needs to do a school run etcThese are worth every single penny.

Baby carriers are a fantastic invention - perfect for parents on the go, and even for parents who want to keep baby close by in and around the house. The problem with many baby carriers is that they can make you and your baby quite warm, especially in summer. This baby carrier is very well made, as you would expect from the brand Baby Bjorn to be, and the design of the material used means that air can circulate through the carrier, so your baby and you stay comfortable and don't get overheated and sweaty. It's very versatile - can be worn back or front - and easily switches from one to the other. It is well made, and well padded,so comfortable for your baby and for you to wear. The design is International hip dysplasia institute certified - so you know using this isn't going to harm or hurt your baby in any way.I have seen some of the other reviews saying this isn't suitable for a newborn baby - I cannot comment on this because the baby we used it with is 6 months old, so the baby fits well and comfortably in the carrier. So please take the time to read all the other reviews on this item.It is on the expensive side (the brand isn't the cheapest), as many items aimed at parents of babies are,but it is well made and sturdy. Sometimes you get what you pay for.I hope you found this review helpful.

We were searching for a baby carrier which would be a good quality product for a reasonable price. And this BabyBjorn carrier was the one we choose. First of all, then taking a carrier straight out of the box it looks a bit confusing as it has so many straps. However, it is just the first Impression as it is really simple and requires just a few adjustments. So, what would be one of the first pros for this carrier. Secondly, with a baby safely inside it, the back does not feel any excessive pressure which is perfect for someone who is active as us and likes long walks. Moreover, we got a 3D mash version which provides good ventilation and keeps me and my baby cooler even on a hot day,as well after washing it dry’s very fast. Although it looks very small, after all, adjustments it fits me perfectly as well comfortable and I am 6.7 feet. Finally, there is a 4 different positions it can be worn, which will be an amazing feature in future with a bit older baby. As a baby could enjoy the scenery while having walks as well. Overall its is a good Scandinavian quality I was hoping for. And this kind of quality is worth this price.

I’d tried a few baby carriers at the NCT classes before my first child was born. The only one I found really comfortable and easy to put on was the BabyBjorn. Having used them with my children, I strongly recommend them and regard a good baby carrier as essential. I much prefer using one and a small rucksack (for the nappies and wet wipes) whilst shopping or travelling, than lugging around a pram or pushchair – easier to stow in the car as well. The ability for the child to face forward in the carrier is also a boon – my kids have loved this and it’s kept them quiet and still whilst I shop. This version has a soft, quick drying breathable mesh, it offers a variety of positions and size adjustments, and is easy to put on and adjust. My youngest feels very secure in it, and all the clips and buckles are easy to use and feel very solid. These are expensive, and from my experience, using one until the child is three would be pushing it somewhat (my older children were a bit too big and heavy for me to carry them in one comfortably by the time they were three), but for younger children, these are excellent.

This is my favorite carrier and I tried 2 other carriers that I did not care for but this one was amazing. It's so easy to get on and off, has great neck support for little man, and is comfortable on my back! My husband even likes to wear it around and says it's a must have. My baby falls asleep within minutes almost every time. My husband who is 6'3" 250 pounds and I who am 5'3" 140 pounds, can both wear this - so it also has a wide range as far as who can use.I love the straps crossed on the back! Such a simple design but it makes a huge difference, weight is being held by your entire back and shoulders instead only by your shoulders and this is MUCH easier. It’s made out of comfortable fabric,it’s soft and hugs the baby while providing support. Much different then the other carriers which are tough, rough and bulky and kinda force babys body into certain position.I’ve been getting lots of compliment by wearing this baby strap when I take my baby out for a walk in the park. It’s very safe and secure.

The main positives of this carrier, for me are :Excellent fabric choice for all year use (in cold weather you can overwrap the carrier; in hot it is nicely vented)Extremely well made with high quality finishing and components.Your baby can sit in multiple positions - when we used the more basic BB carrier with my daughter she grew from liking facing us to facing outwards - starting a much longer trend in general! The lumbar strap is a great addition for longer duration comfort and protecting you from strain. All that said, this is a very expensive model. I can see if having good resale value but nevertheless there are plenty of good and much less costly designs. There’s also the ongoing question over whether this kind of carrying puts undue pressure on your baby’s growing hips. For my money, this is a false concern unless you are spending very long durations carrying them. But worth considering and interesting that BB now include an endorsement from a hip specialist organisation...
