the leading v brake pads in my opinion as i've used this style of avid pad for years they have a nice easy pad change pin and it locks in place snugly. as for the braking these will stop you around a third faster in the wet and straight just tap the brake lever first before you brake to clear the wheel rim then brake. slightly cheaper would be a fairer price but its hard to get a better pad for braking on a mountain bike even if they are a bit harder on the wheel rim just clean any dirt out the pad regular and these should last you quite a while . i just replace the vpad cartridges which cost a lot less and are effective and you can get different types of inserts from different brands that fit
