I have a desktop computer with Win 7, 64 bits and a 24 inch monitor.I spotted this product while being bored at work and just browsing the net to revive a dead brain. I read the other reviews and found the price reasonable. I had been looking out for a product like this since my fifteen years old Hauppage TV card did not exactly fit in with my new motherboard and os. That had been sold on Ebay many years ago. So I was in the market and the excellent reviews and price made me order the card. The delivery was very fast. A five stars delivery service. Then the moment to install it came and I discovered that living among high rise flats meant that the antenna did not really work although the USB stick seemed very clever and worked fine.My address is my fault. So a new order for a splitter and a longer antenna cable was put in and then received. Some more conflicts between male and female antennas followed before I found an old cable and that solved the problem. Twiddling around is fun though and no complaints from me. What is a sad man without twiddling around ? An even sadder man.Reinstall the thing again and tried it on my communal antenna. A perfect result and the product lived up to the billing given by the other positive reviewers. It is far better than the Freeview box and rather old TV I already got.I am not sure what this remote control is doing as I am using the mouse to control the TV. Neither does it work. But I got the user manual and will read it. The channel list also need some reorganisation. I will read the user manual.Out of the box and taken the price into account; this is a very impressive product which will be ideal for students and others on the move and at home. I will not use it much, but will keep it on the computer as a backup when my TV and/or Freeview desktop gives up the ghost. I will also use it when my partner want to see one TV programme and I want to watch another. I will also install it on my laptop too.In short; five stars and a product more people should seriously consider.

Got this little tuner. Must admit, wasn't really sure it would work.Delivered super fast next day by Amazon, though I had chosen Super Saver free delivery.. They had even sent me an e-mail telling me it was coming... The supplied software and drivers come on a mini cd that fits in the centre of your standard CD tray. The supplied booklet, contains instructions specific to you operating system, so read this before installing the software.Installed without a hitch and once I had waved the little supplied aerial around a bit to get the best signal I could find. It picked up 93 stations. And as long as the signal is strong, it displayed them without hitch.I then tried out the TV record function. On my machine,it placed the recordings in the my video folder and when I tested the screen shot (capture frame) button it put the image in the My Pictures folder. You can alter where it stores pictures and videos, on the home page screen under Setup/General.I then moved one of the recordings to a USB stick and played it back on my HD TV. It was surprisingly good quality.I'm impressed.A very simple to use interface with basic functions and nothing too technical to cause confusion. An electronic program guide (EPG) with a brief program description and channel list, provide a way to scroll through the channels and when you are viewing in full screen, hovering the mouse pointer over the bottom of the screen pops up a floating tool bar with the most required functions on it. Pressing escape takes you out of full screen and back to the TV page. Here you can set up your scheduled recordings and rescan your TV channels if you need to. You can also save channels in a favourites list.No idea how long it will last, but considering the price,it was worth a punt, for a handy little device, that so far has worked very well..August DVB-T202 USB Freeview Tuner Stick - External PC TV Card with Digital (DVB-T) Television Receiver and PVR Style Recorder - Wintv Dongle Supported by Windows 7 / Vista / XP for Desktop and Laptop Computer

This little TV Tuner dongle, is the biz. With it is a micro, mini aerial, but do not and I repeat, do not bother with that, unless you live on top of a Digital TV Mast, that'll be the only time it'll work. I have set this up in Windows 7, with Windows Media Centre and it found the channels no problem, using roof aerial. I bought some coax cable and two male ends, then connected one end to the dongle and the other to my aerial splitter, then the dongle end, directly to my computer. Did not realise, how heavy, the coax cable actually is, nearly pulled my USB input out, so opted to using USB extension, just to rid the strain on my USB input. You can record, just one channel at a time with this one, although I could have got one with 2 tuners, but the price was spot on for this particular one and maybe I'll get The HD one, that'll record more channels some when in the future. Now a lot of these TV Dongles, have the coax input in the side, which you have to manually insert yourself, along with the hassle of it falling out. With this though, it's already fitted nicely in the back of the dongle. You get a nice remote with this too, just pull out the plastic tab, that is hanging out of the battery compartment of the remote and away you go.Cannot fault it, works nicely. Just hope it works in Windows 10. Good overall product, highly recommended. I cannot get this to work in Linux though, maybe an earlier version of Linux Mint, like Maya. Will give it a go and let you know.I have Linux Mint 17.2 and installed Kaffeine, which is a Media Player, originally for KDE, but works well. It managed to pick up the Digital channels and now able to watch live TV through Linux, with a really crisp picture. Also works in TV Time for Linux and able to pick up all UK Digital channels.

I purchased this for use on my second monitor while working/playing (mostly for football may I add) - it worked flawlessly. Just popped the USB stick in as well as the mini-CD and ran through the instructions. I didn't sue the small antenna that comes with the unit so I cant comment on the quality of that, but I wouldn't advise it as I cant seeing it do too well. After the install the program wanted to search for channels. It stated 'this process could take a few minutes', so I left for 5 minutes and sure enough when I came back it had all the channels of a regular freeview box. This does however give the option to have a pay-as-you-go option for Sky Sports 1 & 2 which is a feature a lot of people will like to see.The program also has a picture viewer and radio features that i haven't really tried. The remote worked although felt a little cheap i didn't expect something amazing. Could be used across the room to change channels or record etc.Recording TV is a feature very well made with this software: just go to the 'EPG' tab of the provided software, select the program you want and then the 'Record' button. From here you can set up series link too. There is no link to how much you can record (only your hard drive space limits this) There are variable quality options to cater for space saving or good quality recording needs. The overall quality of the picture is good, though still is Standard Definition as HD Freeview hasn't been released yet. I cant complain though, for a free TV service it is more than acceptable. I rate this a 5/5 as I couldn't ask for anything more from this product, well done!

I hope you find the following points useful:1. Check online first to see if you have a strong signal in your area. Without it you're DOOMED.2. Do as they say: scan for stations using a rooftop aerial if possible. At least you know the stations are "caught" even if you have trouble locating them later.3. After reading the horror stories, I did not dare put the mini disc in the slot in my laptop so downloaded the software from the website. This was easy to do but then I couldn't find it... so I opened a dedicated folder for the 3 software items and downloaded them again.4. My computer is quite old with not much space left on the hard disk. Make sure you have enough before you embark on the "journey".5.Setting up the software is easy & the interface is user-friendly. (Thank you, I said).6. The supplied aerial is useless unless you're very lucky. (Mine half-heartedly picked up 2 stations & I decided it wasn't worth expending more effort). I then researched aerials and bought a Philex 27769R from B & Q. The supplied cable is quite short so I also bought a 5m aerial extension.7. The aerial worked immediately but, as expected, it took some fiddling to find the best position. Boy, did I need that aerial extension!8. I now have an excellent picture & 77 stations to choose from. There is very slight freezing now & then, especially on full screen, but not enough to get bothered about. I haven't tried recording etc. yet. I am not a great telly watcher and wanted TV on the laptop mainly for the news. The remote control didn't work at first but the battery was the wrong way round so that was easily solved.

This is far better than I expected from something so tiny, as well as the antenna being tiny too.It picks up 99 channels with the small antenna but I bought one of those new fangled flat things you can stick on a wall or a window. It then picked up 115 channels but picks up all I need anyway.I rather doubt the small antenna will pick up from 80 miles away as the packet said but good enough for me.I live in a village just outside of Leicester called "Birstall" and the signal is very good here as the signal comes from Nottingham which is 19.9 miles away (as the crow flies) so there is no problem with signal.I think if you are more than 30 miles away from a transmitter then I think you will haveproblems.I did purchase this as a used item and it was just £6.99 but I would have never known it was used.It is perfect on my laptop in the bedroom as I couldn't get a signal downstairs so be aware it has to be higher than the ground floor or ner to a window pointing in the directon of the transmitter. It will work from your normal roof ariel too and anyone who has bought a digital ariel have been conned because there is no such thing. Your old ariel would have been good enough. The little dongle wil take a normal conduit ariel socket so there is no problem thete. The driver CD and the Total Media player that comes also on the CD is quite a good player for the channels and it will let you record a tv program onto your hard drive.Over all I am really pleased with this, I know it is not 4k but it is good enough for the price I paid and I get all the free channels. My next purchase will be the 4k one.

An incredibly compact device - most of its length being taken up by the USB connector and TV antenna socket - and half the size of my old workhorse, the Hauppauge PVR500.The T-202 was bought on behalf of a friend whose previous TV adaptor (WinFast USB PVR) had failed after only 18 month's service; due to what can only be described as unacceptably short product life, I decided not to replace it by another Leadtek product.Delivery achieved within 24 hours as required - well done, Amazon/Daffodil :)The T-202 software installed without a hitch on a Windows XP machine. Initial setup esp. scanning takes quite a while and in the first instance, the device didn't capture a particular channel of interest to my customer (Create & Craft). However this programme was not active at the time and doing a rescan during daytime service hours resolved the issue. I've noted this effect on other Freeview devices and wonder whether post-DSO multiplex/power adjustments/antenna work might be contributory factors. Certainly it's not a location or receiving antenna system issue (CAI-member installed using CAI bench-marked equipment throughout and there is clear line-of-sight to Lark Stoke). The menu arrangements and channel layout are basic and the combination of a browser-like interface and auto-hide menu ribbon is like Marmite - you either love it or hate it. There should be a more intuitive way of sorting the channels into the same order as that within the Freeview EPG.Overall, a great product and exceptional value for money. Bring on the HD-capable version ;)

Taking into account the price of this stick I was a little sceptical as to what I would receive. I’ve recently rebuilt my desktop computer into a smaller case and I was disappointed to learn that my Hauppauge card could not be accommodated so I went for this little device as a replacement. Well I was gobbed smacked. Dead easy to install and I can’t tell the difference between this product and the more expensive product previously used. I’ve connected a rooftop aerial to this device and for me reception is perfect. You do however receive an indoor aerial but from past experience these are a pure waste of time. I currently run Windows 8.1 and operate this device through Media Center but the August software is perfectly acceptable.5 star rating for me. Money well spent.UPDATE:I have purchased a number of August products without the need for complaint but on this occasion the product you view today did not, for me, perform as it should. The problem I found was that the picture freezes, an issue mentioned in other reviews. Firstly I must stress that the customer service support received from Daffodil was excellent and they did try to resolve the issue but without success. In conclusion I can only assume that by reading the reviews on this product and receiving a replacement, which incidentally comprised of the same issue, it is a “Hit or Miss” situation as to whether you will receive a good or bad unit if you were to decide to purchase one. Fix this issue August as in my opinion it would become one of your best sellers.

Nicely made and pretty good performance from such a small package. Arrived within 24 hrs of ordering. Very easy to install and set up. Installed it on 2 machines - desktop (2.8 Ghz) and laptop (1.8 GHz), both running Win XP Home. Included software is well made and easy to use. Connected to roof top antenna and ran scanning routine.....72 channels found including radio (Bournemouth area - Isle of Wight transmitter). Picture quality is good but I thought it could be a bit brighter - maybe just my monitor. Timeshift feature works very well - much better than the Hauppage WinTV Nova-S-Plus PCI Freesat receiver I have. The supplied indoor aerial didn't pick up anything, until I added a reflector to it (a baking tray works pretty well!). As mentioned I'm in Bournemouth and have the indoor aerial directed towards the Rowridge transmitter on Isle of Wight, about 22 miles away. Have to play around with positioning but can get quite a few channels this way. So all-in-all I'm quite impressed with this little gadget. Would have given it 5 stars but for the slight lack of brightness, and also the remote control is a bit fiddle to use as it requires the receiver to be pointing straight at it to work. 4 stars.

EDIT: The screen CAN be resized! After using for a few days I have found in full screen mode and then clicking "Restore Down" button top right screen (between Minimise Button and Close Button) the screen can be resized to any size so that you can work in other applications while the TV is running. A definite PLUS, but channels found is poor. A few days ago 72, now down to 53??? Anyway now 4-stars!It installed and worked perfectly on Win 7 Pro 64bit. However 2 points keeps it to 3 stars for me.1. Screen Cannot be resized - it's either default centre screen or full screen. So cannot be resized by any proportion so that I can park the screen in the corner of my wide monitor while I am working on the computer. Therefore a big minus.2. Connected to my rooftop antenna it only picked up 72 Freeview channels - whereas my tv system connected to the same rooftop antenna picks up well over 120 Freeview channels. So, many, many regular Freeview channels are not there. Another big minus. For what it does receive the signal quality is perfect - clear vision and sound!Sadly, I can't use it - definitely because of No.1 above. I am therefore back on the market for a different unit with resizing capability.

I received my T202 Auust 2012, but dispite lengthy attempts to connect via an indoor aerial, no success. It, and the aerial have stayed in the box for 6 months without any more attemts. Recently, I'lost' Windows and had to re-install. i had to re-enter all the programs and devices and then remembered T202. Without much hope of success, I couldn't remeber the instructions for installing but went on line and downloaded a driver and a couple of more files that seemed relevant. I strung a long co-axial cable from a TV in another room. I connected via a splitter. I could then receive Freeview on my computer or TV, but not on both a the same time. Time for a brew after a a long, successful attempt to secure the cable via the picture rail, but not a successful connection. I remeberd I had bought a booster for the indoor aerial, fitted it, and Bingo!!! Brilliant reception on both. What a wonderful, cheap little gadget. (Still can't use the remote, must not have downloaded that file but it doesn't create a problem)Moral is, never give up and don't leave it for 6 months before you try all affordable options. And keep the instructions! Thanks, Daffodil.

Great product. Had limited success with the supplied portable aerial, only picking up 16 channels. Wanted it for my laptop, which I keep on a desk, and don't really move around, so I ran a aerial extension to it from my house aerial , now picking up 96 channels - with all your main main freeview channels thereEPG works well, you can scroll through the guide, highlight the programme you want, get more info and just watch it like on your TV. Once you have chosen your programme you also have the option of recording and/or capture screen grabs whilst watching it. Also via the EPG, you can set it to record future programmes, providing the app is running.Sadly the format it records in,doesn't playback on my main TV, but it may on yours ? but fine for watching on your laptop after in any caseGreat to be able to record, TV and keep it for a rainy day , after all the programme may not be on demand, plus not internet needed, you could put the show etc..on your phone, tablet, iPad etc..One thing though, when auto tuning the channels be sure to choose LCN option, i.e Local Channel Number, otherwise the TV stations are all over the shop

I own several USB TV tuners because there are incompatibilities between different versions of Windows and OSX. The chipset within a device may have changed during the model's production life. This stick is neat, well-made and works with Windows 8.1. I have not used the included aerial because I have an amplified one. Your aerial will be critical to the quality of signal you receive, so don't jump to blame the stick if your aerial is inadequate. Many TV tuner sticks seems to be fairly tied to a narrow range of software. Arcsoft Totalmedia is the supplied software with this device. Don't confuse it with the much more sophisticated paid version. Totalmedia is simple but adequate. Its big letters can be read at a distance which may suit or annoy you depending on how you use it. Like most other TV software I've tried it isn't the most reliable and quits unexpectedly on occasions. Presently I'm using SichboPVR freeware which is somewhat like Windows Media Centre that MS have withdrawn as an integral part of W8.1. Other DVB software worth a look includes ProgDVB, SmartDVB and DVBViewer (demo).I recommend this device highly.

It lets you watch TV on your computer and record the programs you would have missed - with the TV programs being saved on the computer you don't have the time restriction to watch them - like you do with iPlayers etc - with no worry of running out of space on your set top recording system too. I like it because it is excellent quality recording, no advertising pop-up (except those you would normally get on the TV station). If you want to, you can always save your favourite program by series - or burn them onto DVDs or save on a dongle. I am delighted with this software - it not only plays live TV/radio and photographs, it can play back what you have recorded too. So easy to set up too, just load the driver for your dongle first, run the main software (with the dongle and aerial in your USB socket ready for receiving your TV/radio channels). When you click on TV the software will then search for your channels and list them for you - and that is it! A fully functioning TV within your own device. AMAZINGRead full review...
