August DVB-T210-HDNeeds good signal, good aerial, good cable and connections. Any weak link in this chain not goodFirst scan was missing the block of 4 HD channels I wanted. Scanned next day and it found them but not fully stable. Bought a better aerial extension cable with gold contacts and it improved signal strength and all HD now stable. Bought a similar one for my TV and it had the opposite effect as some cables are loose fitting and don't make good contact. Cables are a bit of a lottery.MY Sony TV records, but files are encripted and won't play on anything else, which is why I bought this PC recorder stick. The supplied TotalMedia software is OK if you don't need EPG,which is in Chinese - though when I tried it on an ancient laptop using a 40 year old portable TV aerial, EPG was in English! I'm baffled. Tried various free tv software and it was either too complicated or unstable. Sticking with this software as it records HD files which play perfectly on my Sony TV - same quality as original broadcast. (If you are going to buy software you may as well buy a more expensive stick and use the software it comes with.)Couldn't get TV scheduler to work on my windows 7 64 bit PC, so I reinstalled TotalMedia using compatibility setting which recommended XP2, and scheduler now works.Had trouble with sound level drifting up and down on PC but that turned out to be VCL media player. Recorded files play fine with Classic Media Player.Note: Don't know if it's just mine, but this stick remains switched on and runs warm when PC is in sleep mode. Pulling it out switches it off but if plugged back in while in sleep mode it sometimes stays switched off when PC wakes and won't record a scheduled program. Not yet used it enough to know how often this occurs.

This product and the accompanying software, took a lot of tweaking to get working in Windows 10. USB plug and play does not work - Drivers provided on the CD must be installed (Very easy). Screen resolution needed to be lowered to 1920x1200 to get the TotalMedia software to run - Which is required with Windows 10 due to omission of Windows Media Centre. Following this, to get the remote control to work, all three TVIR, TotalMedia, and TotalMediaMonitor EXE's need to be located and set to run in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode. All perhaps a bit daunting for those not so tech-savvy, but not extremely difficult if you know where to look.HOWEVER - After figuring out these little tweaks and applying them...The TotalMedia GUI is simple and easy to use.I tried a few others produced by tech sites as compatible with Windows 10, and none of them have the simplicity provided by the included software once getting it working. The picture quality is immaculate, even with the little aerial provided which I was dubious about to begin with. I'm not sure how far I am from the nearest transmitter so can't comment on range. As mentioned, I know my computers and enjoy a challenge, so am really happy that I managed to get it working instead of just sending it back. However those relying on Plug-and-Play in Windows 10 may struggle. Great little gadget for watching TV at work. If only it came with updated or tweaked software designed to run on the latest version of Windows from out of the box. When running as designed, a great piece of kit, does exactly what it says on the tin, and extremely good value for money.

I purchased this to add HD to my Intel NUC which acts as a TV recorder using Windows Media Center. It already had dual standard def tuner so just plugged this in and retuned but it didn't find any HD channels, I subsequently found this is a known bug in WMC and can be rectified as followsPlug it in and point the driver prompt to the CD (don't bother with the supplied software)In WMC select the option to retune, and when it lists your tuners, unselect all but the August, then click next, WMC will then ask if you want to use the additional tuners, you can then say yes, this forces WMC to scan the HD tuner first and your HD channels will appear.Obviously if you are using this tuner on its own itwill work fine on without the problems I experienced with a multi tuner set up.Not tried the supplied software but through WMC the quality is excellent, the football looks so much better than standard def.As others have experienced, I also got a Blue Screen the first time I selected a HD channel, however I popped over to the manufacturers website and got the latest driver and all is well.If anything it is slightly quicker to select channels than my standard def one, and it records and plays back now with no issues.Overall I'm extremely happy with it, especially for £22

I bought this as it's one of the only few DVB-T2 devices out-of-the-box compatible with the various flavours of Kodi running on Raspberry Pi. I use this on a pi2, running OSMC (my preferred distro), Tvheadend server and client on the same pi.Performance is great, it's able to record and play different channels simultaneously. It finds the HD channels well.Forget about the bundled aerial, it's rubbish. It might pick something up if you're stood next to the transmitter, otherwise it's useless. The August tuner was more fussy about the aerial than my LG TV. Used a Max Signal TW1 to begin with, hoping I won't have to get up on the roof to install a proper one. The TV picked up a few channels but the august tuner did not. This could be down to the linux driver/tuning software, but trying some different firmware files that are out there I didn't have any better results. Even with the bundled software on a windows laptop it wasn't finding anything playable. So then I bit the bullet and installed a cheap but proper aerial from Screwfix (product code 30515) as high up as possible, and straight away it found 150+ freeview channels. And they all play flawlessly with no freezing or crashing on this setup that some people online are reporting about.Very happy.

Got one of these as a starting point into TV receiving on a PC. Was half the price of the alternate PCTV 292e, and the TBS 5281 dual receiver is discontinued. It works. Two issues, the first of which is nothing to do with this device.1. Very bad breakup on recording. Actually also happens with a 292e (which I did try) and appears to be to do with the recording s/w (Argus TV and/or media portal) I use. Only way I found round this is to have the TV client I use (Kodi) running in the background (doesn't have to be doing anything), then the recordings are clean. No idea why, but it is nothing to do with this device or its drivers.2. PCR clock errors in the log. Seem to reduce if run from a powered USB hub,so it may be sensitive to USB power. On the other hand the recordings are no more or less clean than the 292e, so possibly the latter just isn't reporting them. So, pretty good really, gets all the HD programs on UK Freeview as well as SD. I'm still using it, anyway. The only thing that doesn't work is the little aerial. Unless you are in line of sight of the transmitter, you'll need a proper TV aerial.I do not use the supplied s/w. The open source Kodi and Argus TV or Media Portal seem much more comprehensive. I just have the drivers installed.

This is the cheapest freeview tuner that actually supports HD that I could find. I have this working perfectly with windows media centre on Win8. I found that the included viewing software and remote control to be crappy. I recommend the following1. Install the latest drivers of August's website prior to receiving product. (included driver CD may not work with your drive)2. Purchase and download Windows Media Centre if running Win8. If you have Win7 or below it is free and should already be installed on your computer.3. (optional - if you have an available aerial socket at home) Purchase an aerial cable with F-F adaptor for better reception than included antenna, (I got mine v.cheap on ebay).4.Start Windows Media Centre with everything connected and run the simple TV set-up.5. (optional - replacement for remote control) I bought the 'Rii 2.4GHz Wireless Mini PC Keyboard Touchpad' for £12.99 on Amazon which works great as a wireless controller.6. (optional) Create a favourites list on Media Centre to get rid of all your unwanted channels.I found that the first time using this tuner the HD channels kept breaking up, but reconnecting the aerial cable and restarting Media Centre fixed this.

I have been using this (the T210 model) for almost 4 years, use it almost every day plugged into my laptop at home while I work (I work from home, and have a laptop with 2 large external monitors, I show the TV on one of them)The aerial supplied with it was of no use at all in my area - and would probably only be of any use in an area very close to the transmitter, with a strong signal.I have been using it with an indoor amplified aerial perched on my windowsill: SLX Gold digiTop Amplified High Performance Indoor Aerial for TV (UHF/Freeview), FM Radio, DAB Radio, Wideband.Generally the picture/reception is excellent. It would of course be even better with a roof aerial.Sometimes when the weather is bad I might find that one or two stations are not available that were available the day before - I simply get the message "no signal".When I first received this I was using the Total Media software provided with it, but for the past year and half I have been using the Windows Media Centre (I am using Windows 7).For what I wanted, and what it does, it has been very good.

As a standalone tuner the August DVB-T210 - HD Freeview USB TV Tuner works very well even from my loft aerial. In fact I bought a second unit in the assumption I could view one while recording a second channel. Alas the second unit would not install and caused a device conflict. I cannot fault Daffodil UK, they were very helpful and offered to exchange the second unit for a standard definition tuner as this would install a different driver. I do already have a standard unit. The downside is the 50/50 chance of the Media Centre pointing the standard unit to the HD channel triggering message “No TV signal detected”. You can get around this by disabling the standard unit in device manager but this needs a system restart.I suppose you could unplug the standard unit until the Media Centre picks the HD unit but I have not tried this.A dual HD tuner would save all this hassle but would be far more expensive.

This is good for recording radio and tv on your pc. You can also record and watch HD programmes on your laptop or Pc. I would give it 5 stars but the software really needs updating. Sometimes the programmes freeze or dont even work. You then have to uninstall and reinstall the software to get the Tuner to work again, and sometimes tjis does not work. I would like to see an update function or a tools menu so you could regularly update to a newer version over the internet! All in All, a very good idea indeed! I would recommend that you use a proper outside freeview aerial to get a good reception and to get all the available channels in your area,The small aerial that August give you is useless really even if you buy the amplifier to go with it. I think that you would have to be on top of the transmitter to get a good reception with this puny aerial that August gives you!

This is the HD version, and worked well. Spoke with support prior to purchase and obtained an amplified aerial to go with it since could not connect to a roof mounted aerial.Suspect the standard supplied aerial is a bit naff, but did not try as got a good portable aerial instead. The combo worked great.Picked up over 120 channels including radios. As others noted the EPG feature is a little disappointing since the description of what is being played per channel is garbled. It is not Chinese characters as some have suggested. Mars an otherwise perfect product, but not enough to deter since the channel select area of the software shows a preview of the channel in real time.Have not used the timeshift nor recording features as yet; but have no reason to suspect the will not work.Read full review...

I had never come across these before and reading reviews on other products I was concerned whether I would be technical enough to be able to set it up. But the reviews on this one seemed quite good. I took this away on holiday and we were able to use the laptop as a television and record programmes. It is also possible to go into settings and arrange for it to do live pause. This is a brilliant piece of kit and I will be using it a lot. Once it has recorded the program I just go into the video directory and click on it and it plays with, in my case, Windows Media Player. I imagine it's possible that it will run on other products as well. No internet connection is required. But you will need to get a decent indoor aerial. If you are able to use a normal aerial, all the better.

Fantastic device, picks up a stronger signal (somehow) with the same aerial that I used with a older SD Freeview tuner which occasionally would drop the SD channel signals. Picks up all the channels with no issues with a decent indoor aerial (My area is ok in terms of signal reception). The supplied program called ArcSoft TotalMedia is pretty good with the out of the box settings, paired with a decent aerial it picked up over 100 channels (including radio) a couple of screenshots included below. The only problem I've encountered with the software is that the EPG comes up in what looks like chinese, but I never needed to use it anyway so I didn't attempt to fix it as I mainly used this to watch the Euros in HD on my PC and Laptop.

Excellent, next day delivery. The item came boxed with everything as expected. The tuner was thinner and more substantial, and also grey in colour. Comes with upgraded drivers for windows 10. Total media centre was included but for some reason I could not access with keycode. As I use a different programme, this was not a problem. Downloaded all channels, including HD channels in less than a minute! Picture quality was really good on HD. SD channels were also sharp and colourful. After setting colour and contrast on the HD channels, they are as good as on the television. Another winner! This is my own comments and I did not receive item at a discount. Great price and superb product.

I bought this to use in my camper with a laptop. I just visited their website to get the latest software and drivers before plugging in. It worked first time without any fiddling - as others has said to get the remote control to work you need to set the applications to run as windows 7 compatibility mode. It’s achieved by navigating to the installed software folder then sorting by file type. Select all files that are applications and Right click on the program's shortcut, .exe fileClick on Properties.Click on the Compatibility tab.Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box and select windows 7.Then it ran like clockwork !!

Have been testing it for nearlyva week. Works on raspberry pi2 with stock image. Does not need a driver but will need a few firmware files dropping into /lib/firmware folder. I use tvheadend to stream TV on my wifi and play via Kodi.Works fine on windows 7 too. I didnt use included pvr software much as I prefer windows media centre.Have not tried remote at all.Included antenna did not pickup any signal but the broadcast transmitter is 40 miles away so that was expected. My loft aerial does the job just fine. This usb dongle fully met my expectation. At this price I recommend it without hesitation. 5 stars.
