Have to agree with many of the reviews here - it certainly isn't one of the 'greats' in terms of single malt, and if that's what turns you on, you'd undoubtedly be best looking to Talisker, Highland Park, Bowmore and the rest (all of which, don't get me wrong, are very, very good indeed!). I can't comment on the rise of cocktail whiskies, that just isn't my thing, but being partial to both scotch and bourbon, for me at least, this represents the best of both. 'Fusion' is a sadly overworked word these days, but it is appropriate here; if you like bourbon, but don't like the bite, or love scotch, but aren't keen on the highland smoke or the speyside sweet, try this, and you'll probably like it a lot.Even if you don't, you'll have had a nice few drams, without the eye-watering price of many single malts today! No it probably isn't a candidate for the full-on Burn's Supper experience (and I speak as a genuine Welsh-speaking, Haggis muncher!) and but as a pleasant late night tipple, in my opinion it has a hell of a lot going for it.Or at least it did, until Amazon, in its wisdom, started selling it only to Prime customers, which is a big shame, I think. Yup, I like it, and was overjoyed to find it at this price here last November (rather than having to wait for supermarkets to put it on promotion). I had thought my future supply was all sorted - until returning here today to find I can only have it if I concede to being strong-armed into Prime. Sorry, but that just isn't going to happen, and I will have to resort to waiting again for special offers..... oh well, such is life. It was good while it lasted. Nice if it came back, though.Anyway, anyone already happily 'Primed' but it, try it, at this price you can't really go too wrong.

On my mission to try just about every whiskey in my Opus guide, I recently purchased this on recommendations from both the book and a family member. The Auchentoshan American Oak Whiskey comes presented in a distinguished box and this makes it ideal as a gift for others. While I had no intentions of handing it over, I did end up purchasing a second bottle of this for my Grandfather's birthday. The taste and texture of this oak whisky is beautiful; smooth and well balanced, I find the complex tasting notes of the Auchentoshan are really apparent, all combining to provide the perfect flavour bouquet. While the vanilla cream and coconut could potentially make this oversweet, the oak tones and citrus notes balance this beautifully. One final note; I have to disagree with another review I read on here. While this is drinkable and easily mixed, I personally find it more than flavourful and distinctive enough to enjoy as a stand alone whisky and would argue that the addition of a mixer could prevent the drinker from trly appreciating all of the intricate high, low and after notes the Auchentoshan American Oak boasts. If my review has been of use to you, please take the time to click 'yes' by rating me below. Many thanks in advance!

...for what is presumably a young Single Malt, judging by the non-age statement. The 'Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt' is smooth, but not bland. It has plenty of flavour, and you can definitely taste the hints of bourbony sweetness, also probably aided by the Triple Distillation as well - some which I've been led to understand is a common process amongst Irish Whiskey, but not Scottish Whisky, which are normally Double Distilled. I bought this from a local supermarket, and for £20 you really can't go wrong here. I like the taste, and whilst it may not be to everyone's liking, it's worth a shot at £20. Anything too far upwards of this price point is asking a little too much for such a young whisky. However, despite this fact, it punches above its youth in this regard. Recommended.

A single malt for £20 (current price) is a rare thing and one this drinkable even rarer. It doesn't have bags of character but it's a whisky made for the mixing market - a smooth and affordable single malt that easily blends and makes wonderful Scotch cocktails. Don't think that cheapens what they've come up with here though. It's way better than some well known blends that go for a similar price and there are more expensive single malts with far less character too. It's about as close as Scotch gets to bourbon so I think Scotch fans seeking complexity (good luck for your twenty quid with that one!) might find it a bit underwhelming but that's ok,the rest of us can be pleasantly and happily surprised.

A lovely, easy to drink single malt. A super example of the 'Highland water' (although this is a Lowland Malt) - my palate appreciates the smoother, flavoursome, sweet and non aggressive aspects here. I love the hints of American bourbon from its barrelling in this special edition. It's close relative in taste for me 'The Singleton' (Speyside malt produced in Dufftown) as you might expect is similar in so many ways. Catch it here for £20 inc p&p (yes amazing for a well produced malt) and things get even better! If you've not given it a try I suggest you do - life is for the living and for differing experiences - being from the Auchentoshan (Bowmore) stable this one carries little risk.Enjoy ?

I gave 5 stars, more because I have no reason to attach any negativity to this brand, I’m not even going display any excitement or lack of, I see this as just another single malt I’ve sampled and what I think or whether I like this whiskey or not is of no importance, in the same way as I don’t care a great deal about any other persons review/opinion/taste because we all have a very different point of view about what we find to be enjoyable regarding taste. What I will say is.....If you enjoy sampling different whiskey and you haven’t tried this one before then I expect the £20 price for a single malt will encourage you to give this a go.I do, so I did!

It's not going to replace the other whiskies in this price range that I currently enjoy but it was a pleasant drink. I am not a fan of whisky stones - I have tended to think they are a gimmick and much prefer to have an ice cube chill and melt. However, that technique would dilute this whisky so that the last sips were watery and not the same quality as the first, so perhaps stones would have a place with this one. Some gentle heat in the mouth. Hints of vanilla detected. Smooth on the tongue and going down. Did not pick up the flavours indicated despite drinking on a clean palate without food.

I like Whiskey. I don't pretend to be an expert but I like a half decent whiskey and generally buy non peated at £27-£35 at supermarkets and on Amazon. This may not sound like a typical scottish distillery and if you like scottish single malt whiskey why sell it as 'american oak'...c'mon wiskey is scottish not American...BUT...of the 15 or so whiskeys I buy this has to be amongmy favourites. Nice and smooth, easy on the throat and never gives me a headache. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. Its lush...

As an example of a good malt scotch, you can't go wrong with this Auchemtoshan American Oak Single Malt, especially when it's on offer at £20 a bottle. Triple distillation for smoothness is a bonus. There's no age statement with this hence the price. But if you're looking for a light floral ultra smooth malt whisky you can't go wrong for the money. The 12 yr old is better, some say, but it's half as much again. This has lovely notes, to my palate, of coconut vanilla toffee and finally a hint of spice.

It's lovely whiskey, I had had to stop buying it. I was getting carried away, I would have a tipple at night, look at the bottle that's nearly empty and go on Amazon. Click. I'd have another bottle by my door before the other one is finished. Not good, turning my into a right alky. But it cheaper than the supermarket and it really, really smooth. So nice. Should I buy another...No, Stop it Amazon. I'm not buying any more. Oh, but soooo goood. Arghhhh.

Absolutely gorgeous, the bourbon barrels give this a real hybrid taste, between a very complex mash and a rounded out scotch. It is very easy going down which might upset grognards who like to have a fight with their whisky but I think its smashing. If you're normally a bourbon fan and want to move up to some big boy boozes this is a lovely gateway that will be familiar. Everyone else will hopefully find it as charming as I did.

This is a more than decent drink for £20/bottle and has distinct elements to its flavour, imparted by the bourbon casks. I’d go as far as describing it as interesting, and I certainly wouldn’t rule out another bottle at some point, if the price is right. Unfortunately, I can’t help but compare it to Auchentoshan Three Woods, a bit of a modern classic and one of my very favourites, which is on a completely different level!

I bought this for my dad on fathers day. He kept it till I visited him and we pretty much ar$ed it in one night. For the price which I payed little over the going rate of a bottle of bells I have to say this auchentoshan gets five stars. I was worried slightly by the idea of bourbon casks being used but the sweetness is minimal and pleasant. This is still a malt whisky and for the price it's bang on. Cheers.

I know nothing about whisky, I've never even liked whisky before, I'm more of a rum, or lately, a gin kinda lass ... then I tried a whisky sour with Auchentoshan - its now my new favourite drink. This is the best price I've found it anywhere, it arrived very well packaged and swiftly.I just wish there was a 'send lemons' option on ordering as there's no shop within several miles of my house!Chin chin.

I usually purchase 2 to 4 of these a month, as my Father is a fan too. Having been a huge supporter of Glenfidich for 20 years, I stumbled accross this and have never looked back. This is absolutely delicious and beats Glenfiddich hands down. Me and my Dad love this stuff. Well done Amazon, we will be back for more.....and more.....and more.......
