I'll preface this review saying I have had a lot of headsets for gaming and I used to review them on YouTube so I know what I'm looking for.This headset from Asus isn't what I expect from the brand. I've had Chinese headsets that are much better than this for half the price. Due to this, it's been returned.The first issue I noticed was when I took it out of the box. The duo cable for headset and microphone is stupidly short, meaning it would barely reach from my pc to my chair without the extension splitter cable. This alone nearly made me send it back but instead I ended up using the splitter cable for a few days....I honestly should have just sent it back then and there.The audio quality itself isn't bad but it's so quiet even on full volume that even on discord you end up cranking everyone's volume up to hear them. I can still clearly hear my girlfriend talking when this headset is on full volume.... That should not happen. My £10 apple earbud knockoffs don't even do this.Then comes the worst offender of the lot. The microphone.Out of the box, windows puts it on 75% volume and boosted by 10%... But you can barely hear it. I had to crank it to 90-95% for any semi decent volume which then left a horrible hiss on it. I ended up resetting it to factory setting and letting discord auto boost it but discord kept regarding the entire microphone as echo cancellation so I was cutting out.Turns out the reason was Asus has done a really poor job on microphone rejecting from the headset. That's why they have god awful volume, simply because the microphone picks up everything from the headset anyway. To get it even usable I had to drop my pc volume by 50% before it didn't pick up and repeat everything I was hearing.The final nail in the coffin of this craptastic headset was that it hurts my ears after just three hours of use. I'm a glasses wearer which contributed to this but other brands don't have this issue as much anymore.I really expected more from this headset, my Asus TUF monitor is amazing but I guess it doesn't apply to accessories.
