Having played through Assassin’s Creed III, Liberation and 50% of Black Flag I'm now in a position to give some feedback on this collection.The Assassin's Creed III graphics are much improved over previous games and the city versus countryside split makes it a very involved game; the introduction of naval engagements is novel and fun. There are lots of collectibles, some of which aren't useful in themselves, loads of side tasks and missions and a reasonable tie in to historical events. You eventually get to upgrade property and attract loads of tenants of your land. Interaction with the wildlife is now possible which can be quite challenging when a predator leaps unexpectedly at you as you tear across the countryside.Downsides for me were crafting and trading.Trying to craft an item that needs an ingredient crafting itself and then finding out your tenant is not experienced enough to craft it is annoying, i.e. crafting spirits requires barrel to be crafted first. Once you've created these goods you then have to trade them. Having to navigate to the same item to trade adding them singly to the manifest is a pain; I gave up on this after a while.I also found it frustrating to play through the game before settling into the main story and character. But once there it was very enjoyable although there was no need and hence no urge to get all the collectibles.Liberation did not capture my imagination at all and the ability to play three characters in one, although potentially good I felt was poorly executed, clunky and sexist. OK, so you get to buy shops to get access to cheaper items like previous games in the franchise you also get to buy dressing rooms where you can get changed and switch between your personae.The main story is not very involved, quite short and in most cases far too easy. The collectibles are very much a step backwards and getting gems from gentlemen by flirting with them was cringeworthy.Don’t even get me started on paddling round all the islands in the bayou at night trying to find a missing event or collectible! After making an effort to get the collectibles I gave up and finished the woefully short main story in short order.Black Flag is a huge step change in the franchise!The graphics and physics are much more lifelike. Experiencing the scintillating shallow seas changing into monstrous grey waves as that storm on the horizon approaches is impressive. The motion of the horizon and your ship is very realistic and affects naval engagements. Bring able to transition from island to sea to town and back without a transition, in most cases, makes the game more engaging.Crafting upgrades now makes an appearance in Assassin’s Creed so there is a good reason now to hunt the animals habiting the environment and travelling to those harpooning spots. There are fortifications to take out, ships to attack and board as well as the normal towns and cities to explore.I was side-tracked very often on missions or side missions as I spotted a harpooning spot, an worthwhile target on the high seas, an island with a collectible or even a crate floating in the sea. I’ve only just started playing the main story in earnest after a fortnight of playing as there is so much to do.The big ticket item though is the naval combat which is such fun. Different ships require differing strategies depending on what you have upgraded on your ship and it doesn’t stop there. When you’ve beaten them do you sink them for a portion of the booty or do you board them and use the parts to repair damage to your vessel send it to your fleet or reduce your criminal rating?The only part of the game I really don’t enjoy is the underwater wreck diving missions as I find the controls awkward, the navigation difficult to work out as the colours can be quite muted and the sharks very, very, very annoying.This collection of three games is a bargain and develop the Assassin/Templar story even if they don't tie in very closely to each other. Black Flag is the star and Assassin’s Creed III well worth playing but don’t expect too much from Liberation.

The three games in this set are refreshingly different themes from the rest of the assassins creed series. I have completed all three so will try and give an honest opinion on the games individually, without spoilers.Assassins creed 3 with conor kenway contains the new features of being able to hunt animals, setting traps and a lot of tree climbing, giving it more of a survival theme compared to the previous Italian themes with ezio. also its the first to let you drive a ship. the only thing I didn't like about 3 is the fast travelling is a bit awkward. it goes back to the original assassins creed 1 were you have to reach certain areas in the map before you can actually fast travel to your desired location.overall, a good addition to the series with new features.then black flag. fantastic gameplay! on a harsh note, the story line isn't very enticing from the beginning, as we learn that Edward kenway hasn't actually been accepted into the assassins creed. instead he steals the identity and uniform of another assassin and begins to carry out his missions. I wasn't thrilled at the story line at the beginning but it does get better as the game unfolds.graphics are breath-taking in parts, even on the ps3 I was blown away by the beautiful scenery and oceans. again you get to captain a ship from quite early on just like in assassins creed 3, but this time its for the whole game, not just for one mission. the customization for the ship is great and also the various outfits that can be bought and unlocked have amazing attention to detail.again the hunting theme is carried through but with more animals, for example, howler monkeys, jaguars and crocodiles. furthermore, hunting sea life like hammerhead sharks, great whites (which almost gave me a heart attack so be warned) blue whales and killer whales.you can also attack other ships, steal their loot and materials that can better you ship or your crew with a short but intense battle on deck.black flag is possibly one of my favourites from the series because it gave you everything you could have wanted from a pirate themed game. I would highly recommend. its one of my all time favourites... up there with skyrim.finally, liberation. I was eager to see how much effort would have been put into a sort of "side game" as it was olny available for PSvita or as part of this saga and was actually pleasantly surprised. game follows aveline, a young woman who is fearless and determined in the creed, fighting for black people during times of slavery. she has 3 personas that you can adopt depending on the mission you are taking; slave, assassin, or lady. this was a nice feature that made it different from the other games.although a short story line, it was highly paced, good graphics and well made. it was nice to play as a woman for the first time which has now been carried through to assassins creed syndicate were you can play as evie frye, Jacobs sister.these are a great set of games, great value for money, fab graphics, good weapons and customization for both outfits and the ships and overall A BRILLAINT TRIO OF GAMES. if you like free running, adventure style games with different kinds of missions, then buy this set. well worth the money and a must have for true assassin creed fans.
