"Fit as expected" because before I went to a shop and tried which size exactly I need.Usually I wear 10 UK these I bought in 10.5 and happy with it (in 10 it would be No)It seems to prove shoes become lighter each generation ASICS are making smaller shoes so customers have to buy next size up after 2-3 generationsPros:Cushioning: Bought them (GT2000 5) for cushioning and they exceeded my expectations. Before was running in Gel-Zone (4) and as my weekly mileage increased above 50km started feeling pain in various parts of my legs. When got GT2000 started rotationg shoes. After breaking in period (3-4 runs) started using GT2000 for my longer runs. After a week or two (since rotation started)got all pains gone. Now starting to use my older shoes even towards my longer runCons:Speed: Initially was surprised didn't get any PB in these (new, expensive, ASICS) but my hope was it was due breaking-in period.Since started to rotate shoes now I have ability to compare performance of GT2000 vs my older Gel-Zone. Have to admit GT2000 are slower than my older ones around 10sec per km. Attaching my graph showing my results on the same track for last 4months (Red - GT2000 and Blue- Gel-Zone).Conclusion: if you like to train for Marathon they are super for protecting your legs and you can do as much as 100k weekly no problem. I'd say they will cure your legs especially if they suit your stroll and arch type. Wouldn't recommend running a Marathon in those as they will make you slower and trying to get a PB while in the race you might burn yourself too soon.Hope this helps. All best

Nice trainers/sneakers/plimsoles, having bought Asics GT's for many years. Staying loyal to the brand for its robustness and comfort when running and training in general, and using it as a general shoe for day to day. But the last pair I've had, which was an older model, started prying apart where the sole is glued to the mainframe of the shoe, at the front of the shoe and the back. I've find that in previous years, as silly as it sounds, but very true from observations, if you don't cut your foot nails, keeping them short and do plymetrics in circuit training, I find the sponge material ontop of the shoe at the front, starts tearing apart, with small holes appearing, due to the force of pressure when doing these kind of circuits, jumps etc, your foot nails if not trimmed short, can cut through the material over a very short time. Now I keep my foot nails cut short, but I still noticed, as I said before, the sole is starting to come off at the front and rear of shoe. So maybe it's general wear and tear or maybe it's not as robust as it use to be, because the company is always trying to make the shoe lighter, using different materials, but that can sometimes cause the shoe to be less resilient to wear and tear as it used. I'm just hoping this new shoes, which feels more comfortable and lighter, continues to live up to the reputation of being a strong/resilient shoe, otherwise I shan't buy them in future. Thank you.

Like a lot of people I read the reviews before buying and I'm glad I did. I am an avid runner and only wear Asics trainers. This pair was an upgrade on a pair of GT1000 4 which have been fantastic.Cons- They are smaller than normal Asics and you should 100% definitely go up at least 1/2 a size. I am a 9 and bought 9 1/2 and they fit well. The normal 9 would be too small. They are a tad snug around the toes, but nothing to get excited about. If you are a wide fitting then I would think you will find these too tight. Also you absolutely need to wear these in. I went straight out and done x2 8 milers and they bored a hole in my heel!!Many others have said this and now iI wished I'd listened first.Pros- They are super comfortable once you get past the stuff above!! They provide so much shock absorption it is like running on a cushion. Yes they are heavier than the previous series, but its nothing that will hold you back..I have noticed no time loss on my recent runs, to the contrary as they have broken in more my times are exactly as before. They seem more robust than the previous ones and I would imagine these would be more suited to runners who are doing longer and more frequent runs. For the longer distance runner I think these will be an excellent choice.

As somebody that's used Asics since I started "serious" running 15 years ago, I'm finding their range more and more baffling. I know they have to pretend to produce amazing new incremental updates each year. But let's be honest, we just want a flipping trainer for goodness sakes! As a previous Kayano die-hard, I defiantly decided that it had become overpriced. I run a lot, and am 13 stone, so I usually need replacements every 6 months. So I thought I'd give these lower-priced (but still higher range) pair a run out. And so far, I'm impressed.I can't give you a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo, but I can say that they've stood up to the pounding I've been giving them over the last month.Where I live is quite hilly, so I expect good cushioning on the downhill to avoid my knees being in tatters when I get home. And I'm pleased to say that these guys do deliver. Time will tell if they continue to perform. This is one thing I have noticed about "cheaper" alternatives. The cushioning lasts a fortnight, and then you're as good as running barefoot! So apart from the price (which I still think is too high), I would very much reccoment these trainers. I'll let you know how I get on going forward!

I am a big fan of the GT-2000 series having had them over the last 10-15 years in different models. The current (GT-2000 5) is equally reliable. Currently I have two pairs which I rotate, and I am likely to get at least one more. Tried on other brands this time but still came back to the shoe I feel comfortable with.Used for 35 miles plus a week, good for long runs and light enough for a 5k without feeling like it slows me down. Worth experimenting with methods of lacing (and it might be my only complaint that the laces are a few centimeters short if you loop them through the top hole but its a minor issue most won't have)

I've run in the old Asics GEL-1170 for years now and, with a marathon coming up, I decided I needed an upgrade so I picked these up as they have additional forefoot cushioning that the 1000 series don't have. What a difference! It felt like I was running on clouds. They maintain all the benefits I've loved from the 1000 line (stability control) but pair this with extra cushioning for longer distances. My speed has improved slightly but I am finding it far easier to run for much longer distances without any pain at all.I will be getting another pair or two of these in case they change them next year.

Been running in these for a few months now usually 2 miles a night twice a week and usually 6 miles on a Sunday morning. I bought half a size up as suggested and they fit OK. I suffer from slight shin splints so bought these as they were advertised as being very supportive and I must admit that the pain has decreased somewhat. The heels have a gel pocket on the outer side in each shoe which I'm guessing helps correct overpronation (leaning outwards of the feet). They are made of the usual Asics quality and come recommended.

Excellent running shoes. I really like this iteration of the classic GT-2000 line. So much so in fact, that this is my second pair in a month.I received the Blue pair for Christmas and was so impressed that I immediately ordered this pair in grey.I now rotate between the two pairs and am loving the comfort and cushioning. I have knee issues and find that the GT-2000 5’s superior cushioning has helped hugely with this.I have these in 9.5 and not my usual 9 as they definitely fit narrower than previous GT-2000s.

14.4.2018

I am slightly annoyed that I had to get a larger (9) size than my ideal 8.5 because of Asics build. They have the same actual size of my previous Gel Kayano 20 (8.5) but they seem slightly bulkier. According to the reviews they should be lighter but I found them weighing the same if not more.Stability is great! I broke them quicker than expected (because of what I read) and I run already quite a lot without major issues. Finally I found a good replacement for the Kayano that are not that great nowadays.

I have issues with my knee, and the physio said I over pronated so I needed more stability in my shoes. These had very good reviews on running sites, so I thought it would be worth a try.I have now been running a few 5k tests and they do seem to make a difference. I am getting less pain in my knees so I think the stability of the shoes are helping. It still isn't perfect, but I feel like I can actually train a little, which wasn't something I could do before I got these.

29.9.2018

Excellent running shoe for mild to mid overpronators, very comfortable for high mileage runs, very good for forefoot runners with extra padding round the ball of the foot compared to the GT-1000.Size will come up slightly tighter than previous years versions due to changes in manufacturing so order 1/2 size up.Definitely the best pair of Asics GT range I've had

12.2.2018

Was a bit concerned about the fit having read some other reviews about getting a half size bigger. However, i ordered these in the exact same size as my current and last 2 pairs and they are identical. No problems at all. Very comfortable and a snug fit. Arrived super quick aswell. Good value and perfect running shoes for me.

26.9.2017

Very nice shoes, just what I was hoping for. But the sizing is small and if it was easier, I would have returned them to get one size larger. I decided to stick with the pair I received, given the distances (and delivery time) involved. The colour is great and the stance the shoes push me to adopt is beneficial.

25.10.2017

I have had several pairs of ASICS gel trainers previously and always found them comfortable and well made. This newer GT2000 ones seem similarly well made but feel a little less roomy and lighter than previous versions. Too early to say whether they are an improvement.

17.11.2017

Good shoes (this is the 4th pair that I've bought), but I got the sizing slightly wrong and went for a size too small. Ran in them for the first time yesterday (6.5 miles) and they should be fine with thin socks and without my usual Sorthbothane insoles.
