First things first, why do you need trainers specifically designed for tennis and not just wear your normal gym trainers? You need tennis specific shoes, because they give you the ankle support needed to do lateral movements, diagonal movements, and forward movements. Cross trainers are only designed to move forward, not back or side to side.Naturally, if you only play once or twice a year, save your money and stick with normal trainers but if tennis is your regular sport, you need to get the right equipment to protect your ankles and knees from the strains that quick stops-and-starts produce.Tennis trainers have a much harder sole than other trainers. You could not go running in them, just as running trainers are too soft and lightweight to cope with the rigours of playing tennis. So why did I chose these ones? Randomly, I bought a pair of Asics 22 years ago, and to this day they are my favourite tennis shoes. The sole has not worn, they are still firm, they do not smell, and they are comfortable as a duvet on my feet! I'm a regular player, intermediate/ advanced standard and have been buying new trainers every six months for the past ten years (Nike, reebok, Adidas etc) but to no avail. I always return to my beloved Asics. When I bought them I was young, I was ashamed that they weren't a "brand" - it felt like the equivalent of wearing Pound Shop plimsoles on court! However, they fitted with my teenage budget and I needed a pair...Over the years I have loved them more and more, like a dear friend you can always rely on, but they are old and I can't wear them forever. So last week, when I was sat court-side wincing at the toe-pain my new Nikes were causing me after four hours tennis, I was surprised when my doubles partner skipped in announcing she'd just bought a new pair of Asics. I'd long assumed they had given up production, like the HiTecs of this world (don't be telling me they still make HiTecs or I will faint!). So I swiftly went online and found as many pairs of Asics on Amazon as I could, and erm, bought them all! (No longer on a student budget).I wore these ones today, outdoor (sanded) AstroTurf for a match. They were comfortable to wear - snug arch support, widening out in the toe - so my feet weren't slipping around inside the trainers due to the tighter middle and there was plenty of room for my toes to not get crushed either. The sole is solid and I felt comfortable in their grip (I didn't worry about slipping on the sand when stopping after a sprint). Asics created the gel insole (a long time ago, because my original pair were Challenger 3's and they had them), which basically acts as a shock absorber, again reducing the strain on your leg joints. At the end of the 2 hour session, no hint of blisters or pains - which is common in new trainers, and I was ready to swap over to another pair and go indoors to try those ones out!Having tried the two, I can whole-heartedly recommend these ones and at this price, they are a bargain.

Never had a specific pair of tennis shoes before. They are more solid than general purpose trainers but that's not a bad thing (and I think the purpose of tennis shoes). Have had numerous Asics sports trainers over the years and Onitusuko leisure trainers (I didn't know they were the same company) so was confident with fit and comfort and have not been disappointed. They do need a bit of wearing in - not immediately flexible, but are now comfortable. They aren't too narrow as I wear a strapping on both ankles and still fits snugly. Good value

Seem a good shoe. Asics come up reasonably tight, so go for bigger size than normal footwear. Still to try out on tennis court, but appear will have a good gripm as similar to current pair. Blue is much more of a bright and harsh turqouise than the pale blue showing in diagram, but a good price for them so no problems.

Brilliant tennis shoes. Bought after sustaining an ankle injury and needed new supportive shoes. These exactly met my needs and have been great so far. Wary of buying online but didn't need to be fitted perfectly using go up 1/2 a size for trainers.

Not bad at all, thankfully, a little pointed the shape of it, but very comfortable, the price was perfect so 4*s for that and the comfort.

Comfortable tennis shoe, needs very little breaking in. Unfortunately a little too flat causing painful Achilles
