It should be noted that i loved the first game because i took it at the face value it needed. It was a game about two people going into battlezones and having fun shooting people. Hence my brother and I played the game to death because it was the perfect game for us having been online gamers for over a decade and just knowing how each other reacts to situations. In fact because we're both fundamentally PC gamers the only achievements we didn't get were the online ones because we don't use xbox live. It did have its flaws though. This game has improved on several of those flaws and also created some of its own. The first game suffered I felt because people didn't buy for the game to "Run n'Gun" but as a serious third person shooter. This game in that regard is barely any different if at all so unless you liked the first one, or are after that sort of game this isn't for you really. I would also warn that a lot of the violence hinted at in the first has been included in this game(you can have a screwdriver/12" drill bit/kitchen knife as a bayonet just to give you and idea as they are used to great effect in melee kills) But in a world of ODST and Gears of War and Mass Effect and CoD:MW2, you just need a game where strategy is there but isn't necessary and you just want to run around having fun with silly weapons and a game that is literally about having fun with your best friend. The graphics have been greatly improved upon from the first one though sometimes rendering takes a few seconds depending on what your console is doing. There are more co-op elements like mock surrender and hostage rescue which add great moral choices however like the first game they are scripted events so under used in a lot of cases. The weapons customisation has been overhauled extensively though i was mildly disappointed with it. Though there are literally thousands of combinations to make your perfect weapon(and you can access this on the fly so long as your not fighting), if your like me and build it for performance i found that all the assault rifles end up looking exactly the same, same barrel, same silencer(which is now removable on the fly)same scope(also removable on the fly)same drum mag etc etc. There are no weapon specific parts like the last game which has a selection of parts for each weapon. The paint jobs are a little thin on the ground and unimaginative aswell with pimp option still available but again no weapon specific designs which made the last one good, only gold and silver. The story aswell is a little thin as the basic premise is the two heroes just trying to escape Shanghai....that's it for the whole game pretty much. Though an interesting touch is the addition of a moral decision on each level which affects the rest of the game in small subtle ways. For instance you can get a small boy to help you in a firefight or stay down in cover, the results being either a Barrett M107 or 30k depending on your choice. The other interesting option is mask customisation, visiting the EA website gives you access to a mask creator to create custom masks that you can use in both single and multiplayer. There is already a plethora or user made designs in the gallery there that show a lot of creativity, kudos to all of them by the way.I've played MW2 nearly every day since its release and this is a nice change for me. All in all I love this game because its not complex. I love this game because it is just a bit of fun entertainment that shouldn't be taken seriously. A must for all those who want a break from this complex storylines and HD graphics and serious multi/singleplayer action that saturates the market these days.

If anybody reading this has played the first game, then this game won't come as anything new or groundbreaking. Although in saying that ea's game this time around is much betterthat the original. You start the game with an epic first mission, and it truely is epic, with massive building collapses and plane crashes, this starts the game on a massive high and from thereit begins to loose its momentum, they should have made the end of the game as amazing as the start and this review would be more favourable, but it just slows down drasticallyand is much less exciting as you progress through the game. The story of the game is also very good and enjoyable, the story in the first was very weak and obvious but this time around it's much better. Although the story is better there are only seven chapters , each taking around an hour to complete so only about 6-8 hours of story mode gameplay. The AI this time round is much improved , enemies will require much more strategy to overcome but at least your friendly AI is much better programmed and less likely to do stupid thingslike in the first one when your partner would just stand there and get pummelled, none of that this time around.......so far.The level of customisation has also increased from your character to now include your weapons also, and it allows you to go into great depth of the level of customisation you want to employ, you can change everything from gun barrels to grenade slots to even just the colour of your weapon. The graphics have improved dramatically from the first game also, they look excellent by the current generation standards and i must congratulate EA for addressing all the issues that were experienced in the first game. The mulitplayer again is the main reason for buying this game in my opinion, and again like the first one it is great, with a few different modes to play through, but the best thing about it is you can play with th person sitting beside you rather than a friend or whoever online.Although even with all these pluses the game, still doesn't merit 5* because as i said the mission soon loose their momentum after the first one has been completed, and the missions have very very little variety to each other,so eventually you almost begin to feel bored of doing them, this was the same in the first game and is about the only thing that hasn't changed when it needed it.Overall, the 40th day is a bigger and better version in nearly all ways to the first army of two, and if you enjoyed the first one you should love this one, if you are looking for a good co-op game to play online or offline, then, again this will deliver, would recommend.

The original Ao2 was a decent little shooter. I'm not going to try and compare it with the other over the shoulder buddy games - but it's worth comparing with its brethren. The controls are improved, the aiming is improved, the graphics have been upped and the sound is all tight and impressive. The setting is China, and unfortunately all a bit samey (and doesn't always make a great deal of sense), but they try to mix it up a bit (but no powerboating or parachuting / paragliding this time). The "back to back" sequences of the first game that could be absolute show stoppers (replaying the same 2 minutes 10+ times could sap your will to live) have been revamped and are much improved. In fact there is little that hasn't been taken and polished to some extent. The weapon system is fantastic. It would be nicer if more "special" items could be found or unlocked with achievements. As it stands most guns can, if all the same parts are installed, pretty much mirror up with a gun from the same bracket. This does somewhat limit the true inventiveness of the process...but with 30+ weapons and hundreds of mods to buy, find and collect you really can have fun working your gun up from its basic form to something you expect to see on "Pimp My Gun".The flaws in the game are common, but no show stoppers. "Heavies" are occasionally frustratingly located (and ridiculously impervious to damage much as they were in Ao2) whilst you can feel as if you're shooting waves of badguys with no real direction as you're railed from one section to the next. The railing wouldn't be too bad if the plot was strong. Unfortunately it starts poorly and does not improve. The game ends on a confusing note.Moral quandaries are little other than a quick way to get extra cash, or a new upgrade (making 1 replay of the game a must in order to max out your achievements). They could have been improved, but are really just a very small and unimportant element (if perpetually ambiguous). There's still much to improve. The game isn't overly hard, or particularly challenging, substituting waves of enemies instead of difficult or intelligent ones. The high number of achievements put into the game do keep it interesting however, and you will find yourself charging enemies down for the sake of getting those 25 close combat kills you need for your 15 pts and a shiny medal. As a solo player game it's a real waste of time (although the AI has been improved). In the end the game is a very literal action movie for you and one friend to play through, and as such I've enjoyed it greatly. For a buddy action game it's purpose built.

This game is a pretty good buy but it isn't the best game and it could be improved. There are a few good things about the game such as:- you can customise your weapons.- you can customise the masks.- the plot is pretty good.- you can choose different decisions on situations (good or bad).- the graphics are good. The only two disappointing things I have to say about the AI (Artificial Intelligence) for the computer controlled partner in the game are:- if you get shot and need assistance, the computer controlled player seems to drag you out of cover, which is where he can easily heal you and drags you into an open area to heal you but this is where you and your partner can get shot at and possiblyrestarting from the previous checkpoint (which is really annoying if your really close to the end of the chapter).- the computer doesn't always seem to listen to the commands given out, for example if you say re-group, the computer might push forward and then get killed, which isn't a clever thing to do.Overall this game in my opinion is pretty good with the exception of your partner, but if your willing to accept that the computer might make some odd decisions then I would recommend the game.

This is a great game. The single player campaign is very good, and the story develops into something gripping and exciting. At first all the action is hard to get to grips with, and the camera control is awkward. Do not worry as the learning curve is good and you soon overcome all the stumbles. You switching camera angles and moving like a cat with automatic weapons. You can buy and customize weapons, or pick them up after you've dealt with the opposition. You can play a co-op campaign with a friend, or some like-minded player online. It's very satisfying. The Army of Two must move as one. You help and heal each other with the ultimate aim of taking out the bad guys all the way to the Evil Boss Man.Online game types offer something extra after completing your campaign, there are increased customization options too. A definite 8/10.

If you've played the first and felt let down or was expecting more then i recommend getting this, its pretty good and is very enjoyable especially with the "choices" you get to make at various stages (i'm not saying anything more about this). Even better on co-op which is what it was designed for but the single player is pretty good in many ways and your AI actually helps for a change. I could say more but the first army of two let me down...this one makes up for that in a big way...it does lack Long-term playability though and you should keep in mind that after a few weeks you may well like me get a little bored if your not playing co-op with someone else!!!

I was interested to see what this game was like, the controls are similar to Gears of War but the cover system is quite different. For instance, you can press the A button to get into cover but you have to hit another button to face the opposite way to where your facing instead of just moving the character. It's a good game though (I haven't played it completely) and it certainly is different to other games. (I haven't played the first one)Overall a good game, I just need to figure out how to sign my account to EA so I can play online!

I had a lot of fun, playing this game with a friend of mine. It has a long lasting appeal since the campaign is very long. I would highly recommend this game for those looking to have some fun with their friends or family, but beware of the age, since it contains a lot of violence. As I previous have stated, this game should only be brought if your looking into playing cooperative instead singly. Another extra replay value, would be its multilayer feature. Great game and price on overall.

My partner bought this as he has already played the first Army of Two game.He said it wasn't as good as the first, however, it was still fun to play and completed the game in just a couple of days. The graphics are good, easy to uderstand instructions and the weapons are more or less the same as in the first. This time round you are joined by a thrid person so the story is slightly more complicated. Doublecrossing etc.Hapopy playing gamers you should enjoy this.

Its a good game no doubting that.. the only grip is playing it on your own it can be tricky cause of the AI isnt very intelligent..So save reguly if playing in your own.If the AI was more intelligent with single player it would be five stars.CO_OP though its a whole different beast! ^_^ a lot of fun and teamwork with mild rpg elements of upgrading wepons ect..good bit of fun with a friend. ^_^

i disagree about the locations i think they are great pretty varied i gave up in the caves on the first one through boredom the graphics are also better as well as the weapons the first game felt as strong as a pea shooter and i dont know about being short - i dont keep a log of time spent playing it depends if you use tactics or just bludgeon your way through i suppose

When I first got this game I loved it, I couldn't get off it even though my mates were all on cod or FIFA. This game is great fun and really addictive once you start the campaign you have to finish it. I finished it and bough the new maps for campaign I enjoyed it that much.It a game to but if you like shooting games!!

Im not normally a fan of 1st of 3rd person shooters on consoles ive always loved having a mouse an an aiming device, but this game is great fun to play and easy to control, nice weapon customisations and fun gameplay.
