First of all, everyone should know that this is not a standard Animal Crossing game. You aren't the mayor, you don't have a town you can walk around and fossils to dig up and everything else that is usual in Animal Crossing games. This is a spin-off in the franchise. In this game, you are a real estate agent, you work for the adorable otter Lottie (a new character) and your job is to design homes for the animals you know and love from previous games. Your real estate shop is on Main Street, which is quite bare when you start, but as you move through the game, you are asked to build schools and restaurants and hospitals to fill it up. The more you play, the busier things get,and the more animals turn up to request your home-designing services. It doesn't operate in real time like other AC games do, there's only so much you can do in a day, and when you end your game, the sun rises to the next day! You can also change the way your character looks at anytime, and creating a character in the beginning is much easier, unlike previous games when your answers to Rover's seemingly innocent questions determined how your character looked! The thing I missed most in this game is the fact there's no town. You decide the placement of animal's houses, and you can pop out to visit them in your company car, but there's nowhere other than Main Street for you to explore. You also don't get your own house, you only design homes for the animals, which is another thing I missed. That said, there are some cool new features too. One thing I love is how interactive the animals are now. In their houses, dependent on the things you put in for them, you actually get to watch the animals using them, and when you start building the community buildings on Main Street, the animals start to work there. For example, if you build a restaurant, the animals get jobs there, and you can go in to watch them work as chefs and waitresses and cashiers! When you make the hospital, there are sick animals in the waiting room, animals being treated in the back rooms. They're such simple little touches but they make so much difference to how cute this game is and how interactive it feels.Furniture placement is much simpler than it used to be - simply drag and drop via a grid on the touchscreen, no pushing and shoving things around trying to get the in the perfect position like you have to in regular AC games! There is so much you can do with the houses now, such as changing windows and curtains and hanging things on the walls, squishing yourself through small gaps between furniture - this game has a lot of features that I hope to see implemented in future full Animal Crossing games! There's the additional Amiibo cards - these are absolutely not necessary to enjoy this game. As you progress through it, more and more animals will appear on your main street asking you to build their houses, you will eventually come across all your favourite villagers, but the point of Amiibo cards is that by scanning them in, you will force your favourite villager into the game. My personal opinion is that the cards are a bit of a rip-off at roughly £5 for a pack of three, when you can't see which you're buying and could easily get doubles. If you have an older 3DS you will also need an extra gadget to be able to use them. To me, they are completely unnecessary, although if you want to build houses for special characters like Isabelle and Tom Nook, these are the only way to get them.Overall, this is a game I didn't expect to like but have ended up thoroughly enjoying. I'm a big fan of Animal Crossing and have spent many a happy hour tending my Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf towns, and I have to admit that my first thought on hearing of Happy Home Designer was 'Why? What's the point of having a game that's solely about placing furniture?' but it's proved me wrong! It's a strangely addictive game, one that you can easily pick up for a few minutes here and there, and although it's nothing like a regular Animal Crossing game, it's a cute little addition to the franchise that's well worth buying! However, if you've never played any Animal Crossing game before, this is not the one to start out with - I recommend New Leaf instead!

I have been an avid animal crossing fan since I was a child and have had every game released bar this one up until now! I actually bought it as a gift for my sister but I ended up playing the whole thing myself.. oopsThe game is delightful! It takes all of the loveable elements of the primary animal crossing games such as the ability to edit your characters hairstyles and clothing, as well as adding custom design slots (for some reason they can give LOADS of slots here but not in new horizons ;-;) but it doesn’t have the annoying features of having to wait a day to make progress or not being able to catalogue furniture because the same things keep showing up in your store. This game is reallywell suited to those whose favourite thing to do in animal crossing was to design their homes as it gives you access to a huge catalogue of items much quicker than you would get them in games like new leaf or new horizons. As well as this it’s really fun to try out styles that you usually wouldn’t go for or think of such as a fruit themed house or a house with only blue furniture! As well as this, it’s also fun to design their back yards and choose locations for their houses.Another thing you can do is design a school and a shop & cafe, etc. And a really nice little feature is that when you go into these buildings after completion the animals actually role play (e.g. there will be sick animals in the hospital and nurses and doctors tending to them)!Overall it’s such a cute, wholesome game that is nice to play whenever you’re bored or just to unwind!

The "main story" of AC:HHD is working on community projects, which in my opinion are given too quickly and completed too fast. You can do neighbours homes instead of the projects, but the stress on completing the projects is shown a lot in the game, so I felt if I didn't do it I'd be penalised or something.I also feel it's very hard to find certain furniture. Every community object is placed in one category, and the search-by-category is only available in colours. I think there needs to be way more categories, and a search by theme, collection, and anything else to help separate them. Finally, the map is really big to say you can choose just anywhere. When deciding where to place a home,it seems silly having a big map (probably to make it seem like you're placing it in a town like previous games), and then not keeping the homes there for further contracts. I mostly ended up using the same spot every time, because it felt unnecessary to choose any specific one. It felt like a somewhat useless element.Otherwise, it's very cute. Lots of playability. I love designing and after gathering a lot of furniture, you can really start getting into decoration and small details, and very cute houses. Highly recommended.

I purchased this game for my 10 year old daughter and asked her to provide a review, this is what she had to say about the game:I really enjoy playing this game since the virtual aspect of the game is really engrossing! The game involves carrying out the role of an interior designer. Looking for clients is easy however you have to make sure your designs fit the needs and description provided by the client, this ensures that you get more customers. So far I have designed many homes and found this to be enjoyable, after a while you start designing the exterior and bigger buildings like schools and hospitals. When designing larger buildings you get a list of objects that you must place in the building for example in a cafe you must have a counter, tables and chairs.I have had the game for a few weeks and would throughly recommend it as I have been unable to put it down.

I've seen people saying that this is a pretty short game to complete but I think that depends on how you play the game. This is a design game, so if you enjoy spending lots of time moving around furniture and choosing different wallpapers then it will take you ages to get each house done! If you are really more of a gamer, looking to complete each challenge as quickly as possible, then quite frankly don't buy this game! I'm all about interior design and fashion so I LOVE this game and it's taking me a while as I tend to do one house at a time when I'm on my commute. I only wish the main animal crossing game had all these different options for decorating your house and/or let you decorate your neighbours houses too!If they could combine all the elements in the next AC game that would be great.

I got this game with a bundle, originally I didn't have any interest in it but I actually ended up liking it. It's not as full a game as New Leaf, literally aaall you do is design homes for animals and other public buildings like schools cafes shops etc but it's still really fun especially if you are into designing and decorating (been playing the sims for over a decade). You will get a recommended theme to follow when designing but it's pretty relaxed, you can do whatever you want it doesn't really effect gameplay so you can get creative. Also if you link this game with your New Leaf game, a bunch of giant items become available to order for your own house.I don't play this nearly as much as New Leaf but it's still nice to swap over now and then and have a full catalogue to choose from.

Well, I've had this game since release, I can happily say I am not at all disappointed. It is not like animal crossing new leaf, you don't collect bugs, fish or go the musemn, but all your favourite characters are back wanting you to design there homes. I love the fact with every new customer you pick you get given more furniture to add to the fun, there most be millions upon of pieces to chose from once the game is completed! I love doing the Schoo, hospitals etc. I recommend you start saving play coins as these will unlock extra extra features :-). I have also been collecting the amiibo cards, but they are essential, I like adding the extra characters though, and I think they add to the fun. This would make a fab Christmas pressie for young and old.

Unfortunately there isn't the same freedom you had with previous AC games. I was hoping it would be similar to New Leaf where you work by walking into Nook Homes (as you would with walking into the town house to do mayor duties when you wanted) but that wasn't the case, you turn up every day and then can go and design a house or public building. You dont have a town where you can walk around and ironically you dont have your own home you can design. It is an enjoyable game though, i enjoy designing the characters homes but it could have been greatly approved by amalgamating what you do in this game with the freedom of New Leaf. But for die hard AC fans? This isn't like other games in the franchise

a very nice game, relaxing you can lose hours in this.Bought thought myself but my young daughter watched me then kept taking it off me so i ended up buying her one and she loves it, she plays a lot.I believe it helps her as shes thinking. You can spend 2mins-20mins making homes. To me its a great time killer!chuck in your bag, trains delayed/stuck somewhere, perfect.A note to Animal Crossing fans... This is a Spin off! so dont expect to walk around or have your own Town. This is truly a house make over for all the animals, you can interact with the characters though.

Product arrived quickly!AC HHD is a spin-off game of the main AC series, and so many of the features typically found in an AC game will not be found in this one (such as real-time play). If looking for a more "authentic" AC game, you'll want to play AC New Leaf etc. Now, AC HHD is truly a great game, if you love spending time designing in the main AC games. This game allows you to design animals homes, both external and internal, to set themes/wishes. For all the time I've played it, I can honestly say that I've enjoyed it!

This product has great features, it is a great game and great for people who love to be creative!. This game allows you to design villagers houses inside and outside and you choose the design based on the villagers request!. This game is completely different to new leaf, it is designing houses & buildings only & if you loved new leaf you may not like this game as game play is different. If you liked the variety of different things to do in new leaf, you probably won't like this game.

I couldn't be happier with this game. I bought this for my daughter whilst she had chicken pox (She is on the austic spectrum and struggles with any change let alone itchy spots invading her body) and it has kept her entertained whilst she has been poorly. It seems like a simple game with simple goals that any child with a basic reading level can play. I haven't had chance to play it myself yet, however my daughter is in love with this game and this is what counts.

I debated for a while whether or not to get this game but I am so glad I did! It's different to AC:New Leaf in respects of it not going by real time but the actual functions and controls are the same. It's a shame that you don't have you own house, you just go around designing everyboby else's. Also I love the way you can do exterior design as well as interior designs, not to mention having an actual garden! There are endless possibilities, get designing!

If you are tired from studying or working, this game is a perfect fit. You just go in, design houses for client according to the theme he wants. You unlock more and more furniture as you keep playing. That's pretty much it. I wish there were more rewards for getting job done. If you want a game that takes you away from stressful life and makes you want to go into the world of lovely furnitures then buy it. If you are not into this genre don't buy.

27.11.2019

A really fun game which I've spent many hours playing. My only reservations are that you can't change most of the designs once you've completed them despite getting more pieces of furniture which would better suit an earlier room. I also felt that you "completed the game/finished all the town buildings more quickly than expected with no expansion to them. Nonetheless, I am very much enjoying playing this.
