This is a review of American Crew Nine Fragrance 75 ml.Chunky clear bottle, solid black top, pale yellow liquid. Nothing special in the looks department. This is a spray, which I infinitely prefer to dab-on, except when I absent-mindedly squirt it into my eyes.As you'll note from the description this is simply marketed as a fragrance, rather than an aftershave, eau de cologne or eau de toilette. Indeed the note on this page - but not the packaging - says "Cleanse body then spray a small amount of fragrance on neck and torso". So potentially a body spray as well as an aftershave.I find it almost impossible to describe a scent unless very one-dimensional. This one has the maker's description of "a slight apple aroma for balance,coriander and cloves for spice and musk and amber for woody scent. Top notes: Black Pepper, Lavender, Bergamot and Apple. Middle notes: Jasmine, Cistus Labdanum, Coriander and Clove. Base notes: Patchouli, Cedar, Sandalwood, Amber and Musk."I wouldn't have got any of that, even if I knew what Cistus Labdanum was...But I loved it. I found it to be quite a strong and long-lasting fragrace; probably too strong for a body spray. There are moments in the day when I just get a waft of it...and I really like that. I'd say it was on the softer and floral side, maybe a bit woody.If I had a girlfriend and she wore this I'd think it was lovely on her - it's not what I would call manly (as in a sharp, assertive fragrance). I don't have a girlfriend, but the packaging promises that it's "designed for a man full of passion and energy, a man who exudes a quiet sensuality and is completely irresistible" so I will shortly, or I shall be writing a sniffy note to Advertising Standards. To be honest, I'd settle for "marginally irresistible"...but I'm hoping that it lives up to the marketing especially as it's "developed and tested to be liked by 9 out of 10 women". Knowing my luck I'll meet the elusive one out of 10 who hates it, but I shall edit this review if I'm overwhelmed with marriage proposals.It didn't make flies drop dead, and there was no paw-written note on my mantelpiece from the cat saying "wear that again, and I'm leaving you".You can see from the reviews that no two people react the same way. Some say warm and lovely, some cheap and cloying. Some say long-lasting, some say quickly fading. All I can say is that I loved it.All scents are very personal but I'd recommend that the next time you're in a department store, pop 'round to the American Crew concession and have a squirt. You may love it too.

I hardly use fragrances these days, and as I have a beard after-shave is not applicable. I had, of course, heard of American Crew before, but I’d never used any of their products.The description says this is “designed for a man full of passion and energy, a man who exudes a quiet sensuality and is completely irresistible”, though I’m not quite sure how the quiet sensuality lines up with the other features.It has a pleasant fragrance which is light and fresh, and a bit astringent, and that’s really all I can say, not having that subtle a nose. After I’d used some, I asked my wife if it drove her wild with desire. She declined to comment, but confirmed that she really liked it.She detected the amber before she knew it was there; she also described it as lemony and fruity. She wasn’t so convinced about the coriander, suggesting that it was more like bergamot.Her opinion was that, although it’s definitely a male fragrance, it would need only a little change to be suitable as a perfume for women; it reminded her most of 4711 (comparing the two, I can see what she means).The packaging is simple but effective, and this would be a good Christmas present. Good value at the current Amazon discounted price.

I'd never heard of American Crew before, not being really interested in the fragrance industry, and I tend to ignore the blatant marketing for such products. However, we all like to smell ' nice' and choosing any type of scent can be entirely down to personal choice.I prefer a basic, no-nonsense product, so the fact that this fragrance comes in a plain and ordinary bottle has no bearing on my judgment. I can do without the claim that ' 9 out of 10 women' like it (presumably that's why it's called 9 ) and I can't decide whether this is meant to be taken seriously or as tongue-in-cheek humour?Anyway, down to the product itself. It has a quiet, citrus but woody smell that is not overpowering and lasted the best part of the day.It is a masculine aroma that I imagine would be strengthened when used in conjunction with other products in the same range. It's fine for everyday use but not quite potent enough for special occasions .I was happy enough to be wearing this for a day, and will continue to do so. I might even continue with the range once I get used to the smell. This is a decent, mid-range product that holds up well enough with others in the same price range.

I'm prepared to go the extra mile for Amazon reviews, but drew the line at asking 10 women if they liked this fragrance. The 'Nine' brand is based on 9 out 10 women approving, of course. Maybe a little bit cheesy there!Anyhow, I quite like this, it's fine for a light, crisp fragrance for the office or weekends - although it needs a top-up by lunchtime. I usually go for CK Escape or Armani Acqua Di Gio so this fragrance isn't embarrassed by the bigger brands.It starts with citrus which fades through lavender to sandalwood and sage. Maybe not as immediately distinctive as John Varvatos Artisan Blu, but you can be sure wearing this will please most people most of the time.The atomiser worked well with an even mist.Packaging is OK, appropriate for the price point and would be fine for a gift.

I'm glad to see the description provided with this listing for American Crew Nine, as I was struggling to identify where it gets its distinctive scent. I would never have thought of apple, but there is a very sweet apple aroma that perhaps rises above the other rather musky base of the fragrance.Some scents you wear to feel fresh yourself, others you wear to get noticed. America Crew Nine is definitely one to get noticed, but unlike most male 'after shaves', it's not overpowering, acrid and downright irritating to the sinus like the one on the guy you invariable get stuck behind on the bus, on the tube or in a queue. This is much more sophisticated and you don't need to bathe in it.American Crew Nine is definitely very much a case of a little goes a long way.

I've never heard of American Crew before, but I am really impressed with this fragrance. It is a little more expensive than my usual brand, and you can definitely make out the apple, musk and amber. None of the fragrances and fragrance undertones are overpowering, and they last best part of the working day (applied at 7am - 6pm). I'd say that was more than acceptable staying power, as many fragrances fade long before that.My wife and daughter think it's lovely, and I have had a couple of others commenting on how much they like it too. Nothing extraordinary about the box or bottle, which are a bit bland, but the contents of the bottle are very nice indeed. I will be buying again,although this big 75ml bottle will last me months.

This would never become my favourite men's fragrance however it is nevertheless a pleasant woody/musky/citrussy eau de toilette. I have been using it during the day and for work etc. It is relatively inexpensive and gives me a decent daytime option which allows me to keep my more expensive and favourite fragrances for 'occasion wear' which of course means that they last longer. A few people at work have asked what fragrance I am wearing and have been complimentary about it - so clearly it is distinctive enough and long lasting enough to catch the attention of others. Worthy of consideration at the price.

I like a good aftershave. I like an aftershave that stands out. And I dont like the current trend of sickly sweet ones that seem to be so popular.So this ticks my boxes - fresh without that sickly sweetness. And doesn't smell like anything I;ve had before.I either go for the richer deeper fragrances, or the fresher ones - depending on mood - or whether it is day or night. This is at the fresh end of the spectrum, and very nice at that. It is a gentle enough scent that you could wear it without it being overpowering. And although I have got used to it, it has a staying power.Nice enough!

The American Nine fragrance smells quite nice, with a light non-overpowering scent. I agree with the manufacturer's notes, it has a scent of mild lavender with cedarwood. It lasts well and doesn't fade too much after a few hours post-spray. The marketing is a little tacky and I do not appear to have additonal powers of attraction after applying, unfortunately.It is presented in a nice black box which looks basic, but classy. The fragrance bottle is again quite basic but timeless in design. This is an ideal stockingfiller for celebrations.

First the fragrance smell is very nice, that woody smell, like you’ve just had a good shave and you have that clean fresh smell about you.What I don’t like is the branding, its looks like is should in a discount store for under a fiver, the bottle and type face is bland, cheap looking and aimed at young teens, which I think is a shame as I like the product. That’s what I don’t like.What I do like is the small, it lasted most of the day for me, and a couple of people did comment on how it smelled and thought it very fresh.

A fresh citrus top note with a deeper “green” base.This is an aftershave that is a little different to the usual suspects, being slightly less in your face and certainly not as sweet as most offerings are these days.It is a more grown up scent than your joop but not quite as mature male as your Givenchy gentleman. A good scent for wearing to the office as it isn’t overpowering but will last all day.It has decent longevity, lasting a good few hours on the skin and longer on clothing.

I'd not heard of this brand before and I have to say I've been pretty impressed. I can't tell you what it smells like as I'm useless at that but it's not cloying or heavy, it lasts quite well. I have quite sensitive skin around my neck and this one doesn't make it burn and itch as some, far more expensive ones, do. For the price, I think it's excellent. Some designer scents are a ludicrous price these days so I don't think you'd be disappointed with this one.

Having recently been converted to use American Crew shave oil, I decided to test this fragrance they have produced. Not too surprised that I like it and find it impressive. Not overpowering like many on the market today, but subtle, yet noticeable and pleasant. It lingers long and is appropriate for use in most situations. Reasonably priced in a very competitive market place, I think it should sell well.

I’ve been aware of American Crew men’s hair products for years but didn’t know that they also did fragrances. I got this for my 16yo son and it is a really nice, light, fresh, youthful fragrance that lasts well. The only thing slightly dubious is the claim plastered on the box that it’s been specially formulated to appeal to 9 out of 10 women - all a bit tacky, which is a shame as it’s a lovely product.

To my nose, cedarwood dominates this masculine, but not too masculine scent. I'm not convinced the product description of 'a man full of passion and energy, a man who exudes a quiet sensuality and is completely irresistible' is quite right. To me, it's quite understated, in a good way. I'd say its more clean and fresh, more daytime than nightime.
