I've tested both versions of this ryzen 3 chipset now as part of some systems I was making for friends, and for future reference and anyone who would be buying the product I 100% recommend the 1200 its cheaper and Ive yet to see it not match its slightly more expensive sibling.Ok so what is there to love about the ryzen 3 series, and why should i go for it over the ryzen 5 series? There are so many things to love about this set:1.The CPU cooler that comes included is utterly awesome when you consider what intel have been providing for the last few years as a stock cooler.2.The PRICE!!!, seriously though at this price and the fact that it can outperform any i3 on the market makes this the ONLYchoice for a gamer on a budget looking to get that perfect 1080P setup.3.Overclocking this thing is a breeze, you can get this little beast to an easy overclock of 3.9GHz without playing with voltages or anything, making this little chip the bell of the gamer on a budget ball.Ok so now that we've established this is by far better than anything at similar or even higher prices being put out by the competition we should try to figure out who should go for this chip over its much larger and frankly better sibling the ryzen 5, as I've mentioned like 3 times at this stage budget, if youre on an extreme budget going for the 3 series over the 5 series could be the difference between getting a 1050ti and a 1060, and by all means the 1060 (even if it is a 3GB card) is much better and would produce much more notable increase in framerate over the 1050ti.Buy early save on upgrading in the future?unlike we have come to expect from intel at this stage, AMD are providing long term support for the socket, so your motherboard you buy today will still be useful up to 4 to 5 years down the road.Ok so we know who should buy this CPU but who shouldnt?well there is a very specific person who should not buy this cpu, that is the person who wants to fit it into a mini ITX board with some card in the only PCI slot your board has (when that card isnt a graphics card) thats right this chip doesnt come with integrated graphics like all intel chips do, BUT if you have that spare PCI slot and you still are unsure about this chip as you dont plan on gaming there are many cheap GPUs out there that will let you use your monitor with this chip without the need for breaking the bank, in fact the cost difference between this and an i3 could just let you pick up a cheap GPU to handle your display for you and that way you got your graphics and a better cpu for about the same price as an i3

I'm a gamer/creative/programming user. My old machine was an Intel 2600K with 16GB RAM. I figured that it needed an upgraded, but it would likely be expensive.. new CPU, new Motherboard - and also new RAM as my old system ran DDR3.Whilst my old i7 2600K is an amazing chip - and still runs everything I can throw at it, it's age means that newer technologies aren't available to me - like M.2 sticks, or even just DDR4 speeds. Even the BIOS on the motherboard looked dated to hell now - so much, you can't even control the fans properly. So I purchased the Ryzen 1200 (along with a new mobo and RAM) as a bit of a 'sidegrade' - I spent less than £300 in total. The Ryzen chip compares to a similar speed as the 2600K - but with some major advantages. The first is it is only 65W. On idle, it sits at around 30 degrees with only 1 fan + the CPU fan on (and on low at that). My machine is silent - something what I usually only had with my Apple Mac. Even under load, I don't have to turn the fans up to full whack. I'm really impressed with this feature alone. So, I'm now in a position where I have a faster system than I had previously, that runs more economically - and I know that I can easily upgrade it to a higher-end system in the future when funds are available.AMD really have hit back at the market. A comparable chip by Intel at the moment is the i3 8100 - which for some reason has shot up from £99 a few month ago to nearly £160.. I'm guessing they have a chip shortage at the moment. Ryzen on the other hand give you a quad core chip at £75. Bargain!

All I can say is, it's a truly remarkable CPU for the price.I'm running my R3 on a Corsair H60 because I was going for silent in my rig but it's really not needed if you're not concerned about noise. The stock cooler is very quiet considering its performance, but it's not totally silent, and because my PC is about 2 feet away from me on my desk, I wanted something totally silent (the H60 with aftermarket fans gives me this). That said it can handle a 3.7GHz overclock without issues.Mine is clocked at 3.95GHz @ 1.275V on a ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac. Cinebench score is 605-610 multi test, which is higher than the Core i5 7500 in my other machine scores. Pretty impressive, this CPU costs half as much and comes with a MASSIVELY better cooler. It handles 1080p gaming with no issues (Just Cause 3, GTA V, Doom, etc). I will be testing 1440p at Christmas and will edit and report back.EDIT: 1440p time. Yes, it can handle it. Mine's paired with a GTX 970. The CPU does hit 100% CPU usage often in GTA V, but it never stutters or drops frames - not even a little. Usually sits around 90%. I get a solid 60fps with the GTX 970 (also overclocked). In PUBG at 1440p it sits around 50-80% (wildly varying). Battlefield 1 it's under 50% most of the time. It's definitely at its limit at 1440p, but it works. It's a fantastic cheap CPU, plenty for 1080p gaming and generally enough for 1440p. It could probably handle a GTX 1070 without issues, considering that in more GPU-dependent titles, the CPU is never maxed out.

This is a very good CPU I game a lot. For eexample i play CS:GO, which isn't that demanding but it sure does the job. ALso I play GTA 5, rainbow 6 seige. These are some of my demanding titles and it runs them very good. The only problem is sometimes it can't keep up with the AI in GTA 5, so it will suffer with some frame lost until it catches up. But I would expect that for the price of the CPU. I was actually amazed by the price to the performance. The only thing I would do, if you are using a B350 motherboard, is overclock it to its boost clock. This if you are new to overclocking will mean all you will need to change is the speed in the BIOS, and not even the voltage; well not on my CPU.At the moment I use an rx 460 4GB,which is a big bottleneck for the CPU, but it will still run games very good with rainbow 6 seige at 120-30 frames per second. But if you were to stay to an radeon GPU, i would say you would need an rs 570- 580. Or if you want a Geforce card I would say the GTX 1060 6GB. These are only the GPU I would recommend at the time of this review.

It was around double the current price it is right now when it released and now that a few years later it has gone down in price made this the perfect CPU for my build. I recommend this for budget builders who look forward to using a Rx 580/gtx 1060 . This is a true 4 core/4 thread CPU for $50 and it comes with the wraith stealth cooler with satisfied me very nicely. This is great for first time builders like me to want to get into gaming on a budget, although this doesn't have integrated graphics so look for a different CPU if you are looking to build that kind of PC. In my current build I paired this with a Rx 580 and I can get it to run games like R6 on the Ultra preset and get smooth frame rates. As great of a CPU as this is you'll probably only want to use the gtx 1060 and the Rx 580 as going any higher could cause some bottle-necking. I would look into the future to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 CPU for more core and threads if you are looking for content creation, but for gaming purposes this CPU fits just fine for first time gamers who are on a budget.

This is a fantastic deal for the money. A modern, fast, (relative to old CPU), low energy, cool running chip at 100$ or less is a real breakthrough for AMD among many others lately. Perfect for standard users, but it does the job on most games pretty well too, casual gamers rejoice! You won't find a better value out there, I promise. Go ahead and get the 2200g now that it's out, it has graphics on the chip itself. But if you do any sort of gaming besides minesweeper, keep your dedicated video card. I'm excited about what the future holds for APU's though. The 2400g can actually play some games on lower settings.Even the 2nd gen still has the single downside to Intel of slightly lower single core performance making Intel a marginally better gaming choice (worse for other things)vs 2000 series, but in time AMD will pass them in that too. I have a 2600x now and it's just amazing. This isn't the AMD of a few years ago, they have their act together and Intel is panicked.

The Ryzen 3 1200 is the entry level model of the first series of ryzen CPUs. The zen architecture means that even though it's a 4 core 4 thread processor at 3.1ghz with a 3.4 boost its very efficient. There has been no problems with temperature running at stock settings and the wraith stealth cooler included is more than adequate.I haven't had chance to overclock this yet as it is currently running on a cheap a320m-k board but even then it's paired well with an rx570 and has provided some excellent quality 1080p gaming with 60fps in most games with high to ultra settings. It's also able to handle playing games and watching videos on YouTube which might seem like a given in 2020 but consideringthis CPU regularly hovers around £46 it means it's a bargain.Just be aware that you will need a graphics card for this meaning that the 2200g is a cheaper option but this CPU paired with a cheap graphics card will offer better performance.

All of the third-generation AMD Ryzen processors (CPUs) are excellent and very good value compared to equivalents made by Intel. If you are building a desktop PC, MSI motherboards are the most compatible make. I use an MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX motherboard that provides a socket for an M.2 NVMe SSD storage drive that is a card the same length as a stick of chewing gum that is hugely faster than a mechanical hard disk drive and 4 times faster than an SATA SSD. The system boots Windows 10 in around 5 seconds and shuts down immediately. Note that the Ryzen 3 1200 model is a first generation Ryzen processor - the 1 in the 1200 stands for the generation - and requires a graphics card because it does not have a built-in graphics processor, which many other Ryzen CPUs provide. If you have built-in graphics in the processor on the CPU or motherboard, you connect the monitor to the relevant port on the motherboard.

Bought this after reading about 1200 "AF" processors being available and that is what I received. Huge upgrade to my old 3570k. Works out the box with Linux kernel 5.0 onwards, probably older versions with Pinnacle Ridge support too. Pricing is roughly the same as a an i3 9100f and so is the performance, though with the i3 you are stuck with Coffee Lake, thus limiting future upgrades.Gaming performance wise, as much as I dread Windows, again it is a lot better than my 3570k. Paired with an RX 470 4GB Nitro, PUBG returns 90+ fps constantly at 2560x1440 with settings all on low, medium render distance, and 100% resolution scaling. 3570k would struggle to hit over 50 fps with the same setup, albeit DDR3 1333 ram instead of DDR4 3000.Would highly reccommend to anyone looking for a super budget solution for Linux or Windows, unless you can find a 1600 AF for sub £90 in which case get that instead.

I have had this product for a couple of months now as a stop gap before I purchased a Ryzen 5 to see if pc gaming was for me. It is. And this CPU is great for the money. I found it for £63 on an amazon sale which in terms of value is unmatchable. Obviously in gaming it isn't quite as good as the Ryzen 5/7 but it isn't far behind an i3 once overclockable which is a very big part about the performance of this CPU. Make sure to get a b350 motherboard as the a320 in my opinion is much worse as it doesn't support overclockable and has nowhere near the amount of features that the b350 do and they are sometimes less than £10 more. I think if you can get this CPU for under £75 then it is a tremendous value and cannot be matched by the Intel chips. This processor will slightly bottle neck a 1060 6gb/ gtx 980 in some games but a rx 570 or 1060 3gb would be perfect for a 1080p budget pc.

£50 is an incredible price for this quad core, 3.1GHz CPU. It performs very well in modern Esports and AAA titles. Comparable to direct competitors like the i3 8100, which costs over £100, It will satisfly any gamer on a budget. Personally, I bought this for a £400 budget PC, and I paired it with the RX 570, also from AMD. So far, I haven't noticed any major bottlenecking from the CPU. Just to see how far I could push it, I also tried out streaming. I can confidently say you can stream pretty much any Esports title out tehre on 720p 30fps, a watchable quality.Furthurmore, the wraith spire cooler it comes with is one of the best stock coolers out there. It looks nice, and cools very well on factory clock. You might need to upgrade cooler to overclock, however.I am extremely happy with this CPU, and don't see the need to upgrade for what I use it for.

I had planned on getting a 3600x, but some unexpected costs arised that meant I needed to scale back my PC build for a little while. I didn't want to go without a computer entirely and let the rest of the pieces I'd already bought sit being useless, so a Ryzen 1200 was a perfect fit. It's completely fantastic. A 4 core, 4 thread 14nm process CPU for under £50 is just insanity! Not only that, but it's massively upgradeable down the line - no need to have to buy yet another motherboard and new ram, as the 3rd generation of Ryzen uses the same socket! It also overclocks amazingly. On the included stock cooler, I was able to get a stable 4.1GHz overclock! It is fantastic, and a great platform to use thanks to the dedication of AMD releasing 3 to 4 generations of processors on the same socket.

This CPU is good enough to play pretty much any game, if paired with a decent graphics card (it can handle anything, doesn't even bottleneck my friends 1080ti!). I managed to Overclock this to 4ghz with a stable temp on just the stock cooler, however there is absolutely no need to Overclock this processor as it works great anyway, the wraith stealth cooler is questionable, it's definitely better than an intel stock cooler or the old FX ones but it gets quite loud after a month or so, even with cleaning. I had to use the stock cooler when my AIO cooler broke and it actually provided okay temps, compared to this, although this may be down to how efficient the 4core 4 thread processor is.The Ryzen 3 1200 is a no brainer if you are a low budget gamer or just looking to do office work
