The Sling Backpack is one of those bags that has a single main strap, designed to cross from shoulder to waist, effectively creating a diagonal loop around the body. As it's a loop, you can swing the pack around from behind you to the front and quickly access the compartments without having to take it off. There is a second, thinner, strap that passes under the arm and can clip into the main strap to prevent the pack slipping down due to the weight of contents; it also adds slightly more security against theft. One thing I would mention is that, being right-handed, I had no problems with this bag but a leftie might take longer to get used to it.The bag is plain black, including all zips and clasps, and looks quite unassuming. I like the fact that it does not automatically scream "camera bag" through unnecessary logos (though if you have a monopod attached to the exterior holder that kinda gives it away!). It feels good quality and certainly better than I was expecting for the budget price. In terms of size, I currently mainly use a LowePro FastPack 250, which is separated into 2 compartments: the traditional divided camera compartment at the bottom and a larger area at the top for general storage. The Amazon Sling is roughly the same size as the lower camera compartment of the FastPack 250, though this includes the smaller 'general' storage section of the Sling. The top of the bag features a padded handle that appears to be well stitched in and capable of taking a fair amount of weight. Under this handle is the general storage section I mentioned above, featuring a webbing pocket on one side but otherwise being a plain rectangular compartment, roughly 3" deep. You could keep a variety of stuff in there but be aware that it will all slide around while you sling the bag around you in normal use. Externally, there is a webbing pocket on the front and, on the side, a small zipped pocket plus, at the other end, loop with a clasp. Unzipping the pocket reveals the holder for the foot of a monopod (or possibly small tripod) which is retained by the clasped loop. This works fine for a monopod but the weight of a tripod could unbalance the bag or fall out - tripods tend to be best carried underneath or down the centre of a rucksack. Finally, the main camera compartment: this is opened by dual zips that extend across the front of the bag, underneath two further clasps (one each side) and round to the side. When the bag is slung around from back to front, the side of the bag is uppermost, giving access to the compartment. I have to say I was a bit bemused when opening it for the first time as, after undoing the zips enough just to open the side I found a divider was fixed across the opening, preventing access! Fortunately the dividers are secured by velcro and can be attached to ANY surface, either in the compartment or each other. One thing I really hate about my LowePro is that the dividers can only be fixed to pre-designated velcro strips, restricting me to the size they set. With the Sling you should be able to make up whatever configuration fits your kit best. In fact, unless you have a camera that is a thin right-angle the default configuration is not much use!So, what could I fit into it? The bag is advertised for SLR cameras but personally, I don't think that it will be its best market. I managed to fit a Canon 5DMkII in with 24-105mm lens but that left very little room for anything else, certainly not another zoom lens but I could squeeze my 50mm f1.4 in as well, plus a flashgun. The problem is, the more I tried to squeeze in, the less able I was to retrieve the camera quickly without risking other stuff falling out, which defeats of the object of the sling. Now the 5DII is a big camera and the 24-105 is a large lens so one of the smaller SLR bodies with an EF-S lens would be a more suitable SLR for this bag. Having said that, if you're a street photog who uses a single lens, this bag may be perfect for you. Just be aware that the weight of a heavy body and lens can cause the bag to sag in the middle if you're not careful with the set up of the dividers, which also give the bag its structure.I think the bag is better suited to the increasingly popular compact system cameras. Loading my Sony NEX with 18-55mm lens was much more suitable, leaving room for another zoom lens (I don't have the 55-210mm yet but it should fit) and one, maybe two, of the small primes. In this configuration you are making much better use of the space and that is how I will use it in future.

I have to admit to being impressed with this sling pack. The construction is good and the materials feel better than you would expect for this price. The padding is adequate. I would have liked to see a bit more on the bottom of the bag, but at least it has a couple of rubber pads which extend to full depth of the bag. And the actual sling strap is massive. While it has no padding or grip, I had no trouble using it, and I have a 48" chest. It also has a stabilising strap. This enables you to wear the bag like a conventional backpack. It was surprisingly comfortable during a couple of long photo-shoots.There's plenty of room for a medium sized SLR plus one or two lenses (depending on size),but you will need to check the length of the latter: A couple of mine barely fit across the bag (when in their cases.) There are several dividers supplied, all in the fairly pleasant orange that lines the interior of the bag. It may not sound like much, but it makes finding small dark coloured items that much easier. The top compartment is quite useful. I carried my eBook reader in it, though it was a tight squeeze - I download pdf versions of all my camera manuals and load them onto the reader. The tripod holder is really useless. It states that it's for a compact tripod. If your tripod is more that 30cm long when folded, it's likely to be too large for the holder. I had to put my monopod in upside down, as the head made it unbalanced. There is plenty of room inside the compartment for a longer holder: Why not make it 20cm long, rather than the 10 it is now? It would have been far more useful. Now for the weird part. I wanted to test this in the rain. We've just had one of the wettest Aprils on record, but everytime I went out, the rain stopped. So I have no idea as to how well it would stand up to anything beyond a light drizzle. I would purchase an all weather cover for a daypack and carry that around, as every other camera bag I own has one built in.Would I recommend this bag? Yes, but only if you're travelling light - one camera and a spare lens plus flash. If you're going to be carrying more, then I'd look for a backpack. That said, for the money, it's difficult to beat.

For the money this is a great sling backpack. Once you've configured the inside to fit your kit there is no stopping you. The bag has a couple of straps to stop you opening the zips the whole way thus preventing you from spilling the entire contents on the ground. In the main compartment I have been able to fit my D90 spare lens and speedlight flash, all with room to spare. I tried one of the configurations shown in the 'images' for this bag, but you have to open the bag fully to access the camera - this is not a good thing when you have it slung round your shoulder - rather you want the camera to be the most accessible item in the bag (See photo from Eric.D) this is how the bag is supposed to work! The bag also has a top compartment 7x5x3" - it's pretty useful for accessories but not very accesible in the slung position. The bag also has a zip at the base which conceals a stirrup to hold the base of your (small) tripod, should you wish to strap one to your bag. The sling shoulder strap is secured at right-angles with a small strap coming from the bottom of the bag to half-way up the main strap - this makes for a very secure fit and means the bag doesn't slip around your shoulder and neck. As the description states the orange interior helps you identify kit inside - I imagine this would make a great beacon if you found yourself stuck on the side of a mountain with no mobile service and a broken leg (dont forget to photograph the rescue team on their approach - never missing an opportunity!)The only thing I'd want extra with this bag was a waterproof cover, otherwise a super bag, I'm still going to give it 5 stars. UPDATE: found Tatonka Kid Pack Rucksack Rain Cover - Up To 20 l, Spring - here on Amazon for just over £7 - Went for the smallest size backpack cover I could find to ensure a snug fit. Well it arrived this morning and it fits really well - great if you get stuck out in a sudden downpour or showers it tucks away in its own little bag about the size of a tennis ball (but more squishy) - I stow mine in the top compartment, sorted.

This bag has clearly been modelled on the LowePro Slingshot bags, but at a much lower price. It provides a safe and comfortable carrier for an SLR camera, digital or otherwise, plus one or more lenses, depending upon the size of the original camera/lens combination. I found that with a Canon 7D plus 18-135 lens there was room for one other telephoto lens, plus a shortish second lens, say a 50mm, in the main compartment. This left a bit of room, but not really enough for another one my lenses that I'd carry for this combination Obviously, other set ups might allow room for more lenses. The second compartment could accommodate a smallish flash unit, say, plus batteries etc.In short it isn't enormous and if you wanted more space you'd need to look at alternatives. The orange interior may seem garish at first but it makes seeing everything, even in lowish light, very easy, a feature I've found with some other bags I have with orange interiors. One places the bag over one shoulder using the single main strap to allow the bag to swing in front of one's stomach with the zip-opening section on top for access. As with the LowePro versions, this idea is very convenient and works well 'in the field', and so long as one closes the zips and straps after selection then the bag is completely safe for carrying equipment. But in comparison with the LowePro Slingshot, I have to say that the shoulder strap and retaining strap to keep the Amazon bag in place do not lay as closely or comfortable to the body. This is not a major drawback and is probably acceptable for the lower price. All in all, this is a very useful and well-made cheaper alternative to the LowePro and similar alternatives and well worth considering for all but busy professionals or those with more to carry.

I hesitated to order a camera bag from the AmazonBasics range ... I expected it to be cheap, with corners cut in manufacture. I was very pleasantly surprised. The manufacture quality of this backpack is great, and there is plenty of padding (both the bag itself, and velcro-ended pads that can be arranged to suit your needs). The design is very versatile. Opening of the main compartment can be restricted by two straps so it doesn't open too far, and gives quick access to your SLR camera without dropping your lenses on the floor. Clip open the two straps, and you can open the main compartment fully to get at the rest of your stuff. The way I've rearranged the dividers lets me fit in comfortably my D-SLR with a 50mm lens attached, two other good-sized lenses, and a speedlight. Everything is held securely, easy to access but with little movement. There's also a good-sized top-pocket - ideal for a couple of snacks or more speedlights and remotes. A thin zip-pocket on the bottom of the bag has a little pocket, and is ideal for memory cards and spare batteries. There's also an outside mesh pocket and loop for a mini-tripod. This backpack is extremely versatile.I find the bag very comfortable to wear. The carrying strap fits over one shoulder, and a chest strap holds it secure enough to take your camera scrabbling around on rocky ground without fear. Undo the chest strap, and you can slip the bag around to access the main compartment safely and without taking the bag off completely.Overall, I'm very impressed, and as I like to take my bag out to rugged locations (Dartmoor, for example), this is perfect for me.

As someone who carries camera equipment, this item is useful for me. The main purpose of this affordable back-pack is to offer protection and comfort. Upon arrival in the Amazon 'frustration-free packaging' (a fairly large box, housing another box containing the backpack) I was pleased to discover a well designed product. The inside is sectioned-off by means of Velcro padding so that particular items can be inserted for a snug and tight fit. i.e Camera, flash & accessories. The bag may appear a little confusing at first as it's more than just a jip up hold-all. The general design is that the main body of the bag opens via the side and allows a generous amount of space that can be sectioned off using the Velcro pads. The top of the bag has a quick access compartment that is large enough to fit items such as phones, keys, MP3 players and several other items. The quality, while perhaps not as rugged as the more expensive gear used by professional camera crews, is certainly good enough for general use. The zips looks sturdy enough although stitching is similar to that on clothing. The walls of the bag are mostly padded. The only issue I have is that the Velcro dividers are slightly flimsy and once removed, it's difficult to fit them again in any kind of neat way. The power of the Velcro that attaches to the linking of the bag is such that it constantly feels like I am about to tear the lining each time I remove and replace the padding. For the sale price, this is an impressive budget carry case that will help ensure your precious camera equipment is stored safely.

This Amazon Basics product is a sturdy and easily accessible camera bag. The construction is first rate - so often with products like this you find that there is a lack of attention to detail - but not with this. The zips on this bag are very sturdy and you feel that they aren't likely to fail anytime soon. The bag is well padded and you shouldn't have any problem wondering where you put this down as the insides are bright orange!I intended to use this as a bag for carrying my camera and a few selected accessories on short trips. Looking at the bag I wondered whether my camera was actually going to fit (I have a Canon EOS 50D). Placing the camera in with a 24 - 70 lens showed it would fit with a little alteration of the interior panels. This left the two compartments ample room to take filters and possibly a flash if I was lucky. A further compartment on the other side of the bag could take a small telephoto / zoom lens. The small compartment at the top of the bag is a handy size to keep other things like phones, pens and small notebooks and the tripod attachment is a useful addition but will only take small tripods. The straps are sturdy and are reasonably comfortable too. The waist strap is helpful if you are going to be carrying your camera equipment for any great length of time.As a "day bag" this would work well and I'll definitely continue to use this when I know exactly the equipment I'm going to need. Considering the price of some branded camera bags this looks like really good value for money. A definite recommendation!

I currently use a big-brand camera bag so I was curious to see how this "Budget" sling bag comparedFirstly it came badly packaged; in an "Amazon Basics" brown box, inside another much larger box! Seriously?!Anyway, the bag itself uses a couple of basic technical fabrics; nylon type durable fabric, inner soft lining and net pockets. Nothing fancy at all. It's light and very comfortable to wear. Sling it over a shoulder and there's a small waist strap to keep things comfy. The bag has one main pocket with a small one in the top. There's a very small pouch in the base which only holds a small "pocket" type thingThis pocket thingy lines-up with a buckle-loop to allow you to carry a small tripod or monopod. The main compartment is soft lined with a number of moveable dividers.Other than that there are only 2 measly pockets big enough to hold SD cards. My Canon 350D fits nicely with a 300mm zoom lens. There's space for another lens, flash and a few accessories (charger, cable etc)Anything else just wont fit.If you're an amateur or prosumer and if you want an inexpensive day-bag for your camera whilst hiking or city tour they this is PERFECT. However, if you want storage for all your items for longer trips or if you're a serious photographer with lots of accessories then you'll need something biggerAt this price I really can't fault it.

As a general rule, don't ever scrimp on money when it comes to protecting your kit. It normally means that the more you spend, the better product you'll get - but this isn't too bad for it's price. It's lightweight, well padded, and has strong zips, with many sections for various bits of kit. I can't say how well it would fit a full size SLR, as I only tested this with an Olympus Pen CSC and an old OM-1 film camera, but it fits most of the kit including 1 body, 1 200mm lens, 1 50mm lens and a 28mm lens, with flashgun and other accessories too.The downside I have about it is that if you're a girl, the straps won't sit right due to some certain anatomical differences with us that men don't have,as the crossover security strap really makes some things obvious. Without that security strap the main strap easily could slip off, so I do strongly reccomend a double strapped bag if you are a woman. This bag is good value for money, but if you do have some very expensive kit, spend a bit more and don't go for a basic one. Personally i'm not going to use this for my camera, and right now i've got all the immediately unnecessary accessories in it (chargers, white balance cards, cleaning kits etc) so I can just keep the whole bag in my car when i'm out.

The AmazonBasics Sling Backpack in Black for SLR Cameras is an impressively designed, useful camera bag combining good physical security and cushioning and practically sized compartments for an SLR camera and associated gadgets. It comprises two main compartments - the large of the two suitable for an SLR camera with lens attached. My Nikon D40X with standard lens fits well, and the upper compartment can hold and SB600 flash and 55-200 VR lens (in their cases) securely. The inside of the bag is bright orange and contrasts will with the all-black of the exterior. And this makes seeing stuff on the inside of the bag much easier than if it was black inside. The interior of the main compartment hasVelcro-movable compartments enabling the user to customize the bag for their own particular model. The feet on the underside are long plastic/rubber strips, but don't enable the bag to self-stand on a surface. It does tend to fall over. However the padding of the bag will keep the contents safe and secure.Nice camera bag.

I am only a new hobby photographer, so did not want a bag that was too flash or expensive, but which was still practical. This is perfect for a single camera, a couple of lenses, and a selection of odds and ends. I have a Cannon AV 1, with a 55mm lens attatched, a 55mm macro lens, a flash, and odds, like cleaning tools and spare batterys and there is still a reasonable amount of space left. It also holds a reasonable sized tripod on the side. (I have a Slik compact 2.) The inner compartments adjust easily, without being too flimsy, and are well padded. The bag itself is made of fabric, but is still reasonably firm and well padded. The best thing about it,is being able to whizz it around your body from carrying position to your front so you can rummage around in it with both hands, without the whole trying to find somewhere safe / dry / out-of-the-way thing! All in all, I find it a nicely thought out and comfortable bag, and am very pleased with it.

I am using this for my Panasonic FZ200 bridge super-zoom.It fits well the inside are customisable with all the sticky bits, can be secured easily, worn on either of the shoulders, slings right in front horizontally so the camera can be taken out easily without a fear of dropping it.Has plenty of pockets, sections for storing additional things, water, book, chargers, documents even certain clothing can be stuffed in if you willing to play around with it.Been using it as my hand luggage lately for short trips so the wife does not need to carry her purse around everywhere as we can fit all the essentials inside.Seems very solid product, have not had any issues yet, definitely would recommend this product.

At first I didn't give much hope for this but having played with it for a while, I think it has great potential. If you rearrange the orange dividers and don't take too much stuff, this will be very useful. Basically, unlike the usual backpacks, you don't need to take it off to get at your equipment quickly - you swing it to the front extract your gear or change a lens or whatever and shoot. It has added safety straps to stop your gear dropping out and is eminently adjustable. It is very well made (as good as expensive Lowepro) and very well priced. A bargain! I'm pleased I got this. So sling it, swing it then shoot it!

Brilliant service by Amazon . The parcel arrived in frustration free packing . Very good quality bag , my Nikon 5100D with 18-105 VR fits in it well . Din't even have move around the internal compartments of the bag . All in all great product for £19 quid . I know you can get better bags for a bit more money (looks wise and maybe with a few extra pockets), but I think this is sufficient to keep your camera safe and comfortable to carry , unless you want to show off a stylish bag !

Great product for amateur photographers to carry around all your essentials. Like mentioned by someone else, I found re-configuring the inside meant I can swing the bag from my shoulder, unzip and grab my camera in an easy movement. Mine holds 4/3rd DSLR, zoom lens, big flash gun and lens filters....while the additional storage areas are great for extra batteries....All in all a great product...I didn't give it 5 stars as a spare Velcro separator for inside would made it perfect.
