With any upgraded product we like to see big improvements, the updates to the Fire HD8 Plus are more minor but they do have a big impact on use. The extra gig of Ram makes this tablet far more snappy and quicker than previous versions that used to lag. Navigating between screens is super quick and smooth! Those that are wondering what the 'special offers' option mean in order to get it a bit cheaper, well this is effectively 'with ads' The home screen will have an advert for various, normally Amazon based products. I didn't find this to be too annoying or intrusive and I welcomed the saving. It would have been noice to have seen an improvement to the design and especially the camera which is still only 2mb and not that good. This is being a little fussy, as this tablet is still great value. When bought with the wireless charger then this will double the tablet up as a show type device which is great for displaying photos, news and weather etc. This really does add the use that you get from the product and negates the need for a standalone speaker / screen. The audio on this tablet is also surprisingly good, loud, rich and full for such a small device. In summary - I would of liked to have seen more improvements / updates but this is still really good value!

Caveats of course are the same as all Amazon Fire Tablets - there's no Google Play, so unless something's in Amazon's Apps, you can't install it without "sideloading". No WhatsApp, for starters, or Google docs etc.But I needed this for Zoom conferencing (actually, joint fitness) and for that's it's brilliant. Screen is large and bright enough (even for outdoors), battery lasts long enough, and it's still cheap enough. Also good for BBC iPlayer, including downloading onto a large SD card. So you can load up and watch films and TV programmes offline. And of course, there's Amazon's own content. The speakers are what you would expect for an 8" tablet - you need good hearing to use them. But it does have a headphone socket, and Bluetooth so you can use wireless earbuds. It feels responsive and is ideal for the headlined usage - "portable entertainment". The 1" screen increase over the 7" makes some difference, but the real difference is in the quality of everything - processor, memory etc, it doesn't feel sluggish at all.Perfect cheap tablet for Zoom, iPlayer and Amazon Prime content.

I have the 7th gen HD 8, the 9th gen HD 10 and this 10th gen HD 8 Plus. The new HD 8 Plus is faster and more responsive than my older HD 8 and I prefer the new shape which is much the same as the brilliant iPad mini. All in all this is a very good tablet although in future I'd like to see a Fire tablet option with a high-resolution OLED screen and 4GB of RAM for which I'd happily pay an extra £50.The ability to add a card means that the 32GB storage is more than enough for my needs. I have a wireless charger for my iPhone and it works fine with this HD 8 plus although it is not as fast as the charger that comes with the tablet.

I can’t find anything to dislike about this kindle. I’ve had a kindle tablet for many years and was gutted recently when I accidentally crushed the one I’d had for so long. Straight away I ordered a new one. Setting it up to my account was easy and, low & behold, there were my purchased books, apps, music, everything I at first thought was gone forever. Even photos and videos I’d taken years before were there for me to view. I’m toying with the idea of a kindle paper white as I think they’re a bit lighter to hold but in the meantime I’m well happy

The tablet was good value for money. The picture quality on the HD screen is great. The tablet might not be everyone's cup of tea as it does not support Android apps. However it met my needs in terms of entertainment and for educational use. It is easy to use. So far it has been good in terms of battery life. However, be aware that lots of Apps have to be paid for to download. It also has lots of ads promoting Amazon Prime and other Amazon paid for services, such as Kindle. This can get very annoying. But overall it is a good tablet for my needs.

A great tablet, its very user friendly and the amazon operating system is good. This is my fifth fire tablet and it is the best so far.It works a lot faster than previous models.I use mine mainly for watching videos and playing games and streaming music...The silk browser is ok,but i prefer chrome so I've downloaded the google play store which is easily done and provides access to everything in my google account. Perhaps the only slight fault is the position of the on off button which gets in the way a bit whilst gaming. The speakers are good.

The main focus for next-generation should be increasing the resolution, at the moment it's fairly grainy and understandably at 720p on an 8inch tablet. Minimum should be 1080p. Colours also could be better for the screen.Button placement and camera placement should be reworked, makes it harder to turn it on and off as well as taking pictures when your camera is placed on the side of your tablet. Other than this, it's good for the price, you can easily change Fire OS for something more Android stock like if you look around the internet.

Arrived this morning and so far so good, a very solid all round performance, nice screen, decent speakers and pretty quick, that extra ram is noticeable.I'm not a gamer so can't really comment on that front but very pleased after a day of exploring and having a play round and battery life seems very much what it says on the box give or take.Extra RAM, a better charger and more storage, I would say its value for money under £150 especially if you are in to the Amazon platform like myself.Five stars from me.

I bought this to replace one which is coming to the end of its life. I use it more as an e reader, but fits in my handbag when going away and I can read emails ect. I do like the pearlised colour. I don't like that the front camera is now down the side, where I tend to hold it as if I cover the lens it makes the kindle face go darker. The on/off switch has been moved to the opposite side, near to the sound buttons - takes getting used to after years of a kindle. I do like the 'new' shape, more like an ipad

Great product to use and set up, beautiful display, great connectivity with Wi-Fi and bluetooth ?.My only complaint is that it's set up to display Amazon products on lots of pages rather than just having all the apps there to use and I can use, they r in ya face. They should just have the apps locked into it on the first display page instead of having 3 pages of Amazon products, cuz of the price I expected a tablet I could set up 4 my personal use(pages like a phone) with the Amazon apps lock in.

This is my fourth Fire tablet and it is the best one yet,it is a lot faster and more responsive than previous ones due to the extra RAM.Its definately worth downloading google playstore like i have which in effect turns the tablet into a great value for money purchase.Perhaps my only criticism is the on off and volume buttons can get in the way a bit when playing games, though this is just knit picking.Battery life is excellent, and being able to charge it on a stand is great...

You can't judge this and compare it to an iPad or another high end tablet. This is a small, go to gadget that performs your most frequently needed tasks for personal use. You won't be running your business from it.But for streaming shows, music, photo storage, email and Web browsing as well as controlling your smart home. Spend your money on this. Worthwhile, great value and versatile. Switching from finishing that movie to reading your kindle in a few taps is brilliant.

For the relatively low price point your getting a great tablet, bought specifically for my kids (as mine was getting borrowed far too often!) being able to setup more than 1 account per device and being able to do it all from my own account is a plus, some really good parental controls and time limits so they aren’t on it for too long.Nice & light and a good shape for little hands, battery life is excellent also

Great sound and picture when streaming and the tablet is just the right size, get Prime video,Netflix and Disney+ no problem just make sure when ordering a case for it you get the 2020 10th generation version as the size is different from previous versions. As with all amazon tablets i just wish they would allow google and google playstore on them apart from that great tablet for streaming off the apps mentioned!

This is a present to myself on my pending retirement. I'm so pleased that I made the right choice. It's easy to use and its great having a camera again. I can't go into technicalities as I'm no expert, but I wouldn't be without it and I've only been using it for just over a week. The battery life is great and charges quickly. I'm still discovering things but I'm really having fun and enjoying my new purchase.
