Was bored in lockdown... So I bought a model. This was the very first model I have ever personally built. It comes with the glue, brush and paints you'll need to do this tank justice... It was a bit finicky to put together all the wheels and caps where all quite small, and one if the wheels broke off during assembly (I think the cat may have sat on it), but with the included poly glue was fairly easy to fix, and I built and painted the tank over a few days. I recommend painting the bottom half of the tank seperately from the top half before you glue it together, and then paint it again with the base coat. The track was the hardest thing to deal with as didn't quite fit properly so I heated it up and gently stretched it so that it'd fit,if you do this be very careful the track nearly snapped for me. After the painting was done I was looking at the model thinking it looked too clean and I wanted to add like an oily greese effect where the engine parts were, and between some joints, so I watered down some black paint, and carefully used my brust to drab and streak it in and around joints and grilles etc. I was even more happy with it then. I then experimented a bit adding a dried dirt or sand, I didn't bother with the Camo pattern, decided to go for a desert look, I had another model kit with paints and I took a light tan paint from that, and mixed it with some Talc baby powder of all things, and some water to create a thick paste. I dabbed this on where I thought dirt and desert dust might get to, and I'm really happy with the effect it really sells the whole model and helps to look more impressive than its actual size. I've included as many pictures as I can, it was honestly a lot of fun. Had a few bumps on the road to completion but the biggest issue I had was the gap between the bottom and top halves of the body at the front. I filled it with glue and tried to make it look like a weld join. Also my kit was missing the decals which was a shame, so I couldn't put the German cross on the tank and it's too small for me to attempt to paint it on. Anyway I'm very happy with it, but I think next time I might go for a 1:35 scale tank as it was/is surprisingly small.

With the pandemic that we're all facing, me and my partner both found ourselves with alot of time on our hands, and no idea what to do with it. Naturally we fell into a netflix binging phase and I honestly couldn't take much more of it. I had a few quid spare so I decided to look online to see what we could do together. Then I found the airfix starter kits. We got one each, my partner not knowing much about tanks instantly wanted the cromwell because it looked "cute" compared to the others. As for me, I wanted something a bit burlier, something that looks rugged, I went for the panzerkampwagen Vi... the King Tiger. The items arrived and we spread everything out and got to work.We realised we could have the models done in less than a day easily,so we decided to span it out over three days, the Cromwell definitely seemd a little trickier than the Tiger, and seemed to involve alot more steps and more small pieces (and I mean small). At times my partner struggled but together we managed to get it all done.At the end our finished product wasn't exactly to a professional standard (because we're novices), glue was visible our painting skills were poor, and a finge rprint was visible from me putting my thumb on the paint before it'd dried). Any hobbyist would've gasped at our work, but to us this was a way to spend time together, and it was nice to sit back and chat without our phones and enjoy each others company. Even though they are an eyesore, I've placed them on either side of my fish tank to show off to people (naturally I say my 6 year old nephew did it should anyone ask) but it's nice to look and remember. As for the King Tiger product, I honestly can't fault it. All the pieces were in the packaging upon arrival, everything you needed to start and finish the product was included, the instructions were simple and easy to follow, and all in all it was a good experience, definitely a starter model (even if mine did turn out to look like frankensteins monster) and I would recommend this exact model for anyone looking to start. If anything I'd just say buy some specialist cement with a thing nozzle to limit glue application, otherwise this kit is amazing.

As a first time model kit builder, I enjoyed this kit.It only took me about 1½ hours to assemble (with no prior experience). My only drawbacks with the product (hence the 4 star and not 5) is that 2 parts of the kit had broken while trying to remove from the plastic host.I understand that the small plastic pieces are delicate and I was able to somewhat salvage, but these pieces in question (A16 + A18) wouldn't come away and when forced very little they broke outright.I also had an issue with the tracks in which a significant piece of rubber had detached from the main part when I tried to remove this from the hosting piece of rubber.I was unable to hold this together with the glue (as it's stated it's for plastic not rubber)and now it hangs loose on the side of the model.Overall I am pleased with the kit and I would recommend it.

I bought this as a 20th birthday present for my boyfriend who's very much a fan of making models. He says hes very pleased with it, even if it is a little small. As it was me who purchased it, i didnt have a clue about size scales or what kind of size to expect from a 1:76.But either way, its so cute!It now takes pride of place on my television unit in my living room, many visitors have commented on how sweet it is, and upon telling them it was my partner who actually built it, they were very shocked by the quality! For the price, its also a total steal!Money well spent!

excellent quality as you would expect from airfix but remember to paint as much as possible before assembly (a novice mistake I made that nearly caught me out) and to help the paint look better and last longer top the pot up with a couple of drops of water to full and shake before use (use 2 coats) looks much better

This Airfix model is a great starting point for any modeller as most of it is easy to make and the paints it comes with can be used to make some great camouflage designs. The tracks are a little difficult but that was the only problem that I had with it. 100% recommend this if you're thinking of modelling

This is a great little kit. When finished it has some really nice detail considering it’s scale and it’s size. Some have commented about the tracks being tricky but I found them quite straight forward and had no problems at all. Thoroughly recommend this kit, a must have tank for any collector.

I bought this item for my 12 year old grandson. He is extremely adept with Lego but wanted to try something different. As far as I know he has been pleased with his present. Certainly the item arrived promptly in time for his birthday. I would recommend this product.

A great kit, havnt done one in 30yrs or so, but had fun with this one. Wheels a little fiddley and the track need some trimming to fit. The 'extra' glue, brush and paint are excellent, and I my son used them as well on a t34-85 tank, so plenty to go round

Bought as a present for my hubby who loves Airfix models. He was in his element building this. Hasn't painted it yet, but it looks brilliant put together, and kept him occupied for quite some time!

Nice kit when assembled but much adjustment needed certainly around rubber tracks - nightmare.. ended up using staples to join and painting over to disguise. Just keep popping out otherwise.

Purchased as a gift for a 12 year old lad. Seems well made with no problems to fit on assembly. Comes with glue, paint and a brush so no need to buy anything else.Nice quick delivery too.
