I am cursed with big, wide duckfeet and have spent a lot of time finding shoes that fit me. My go-to shoes are now zero drop/minimalist shoes from Altra, Freet and Lems. However, I have tried minimalist shoes for tennis and they just don't feel safe for the way I play on hardcourts (too many jarring stops, heel plants, slides and lateral movement), so I'm looking for a suitable pair of wide-fitting, comfortable tennis shoes. The Solecourt Boost came highly recommended.First, the good. They look great! I like a classic white tennis shoe. My feet did push tight against the sides and bulged out in the midfoot, but it wasn't uncomfortably pinching me there, just snug-feeling.This was helped by how supple and tolerant the mesh material there is. Overall these shoes felt much more spacious in the midfoot than the Babolat SFX3 which I tried before, and the material felt much more forgiving. They felt well-made and definitely seem like they'd be durable. The bad: as you can see from my photo, they're quite long compared to my Altras (also EU46) to get the same kind of width. There is a LOT of space at the end of the shoe in front on my big toe. Probably 25mm at least. This gave them a clumsy feel. Lacing with a heel lock and hopping around in my living room didn't cause the shoe to slip, but it did feel odd having so much space there, especially if I bent my foot to stand on the ball of it. The dealbreaker for me was that the shoe felt incredibly stiff around the ankle and hindfoot. Where the top eyelets finish, it cut into my foot/ankle when I moved. Overall the shoe felt quite clunky, heavy and slow.I sent them back and the search will continue...
