This external usb powered 1TB HDD looks and feels strong. The non-removable rubber cover gives it a nice durable feel. I like how compact the HDD is, as I have previously owned and used hard disk drives that are quite big and bulky. The rubber cover has space built into it that allows you to store the usb data transfer/power cable. I love this as it makes portability easy without having to worry about storing cables or forgetting cables.I have not tested how water proof it is nor would I recommend you do, however it is very good at protecting against dust and dirt.I have dropped it in the past without any issues. My only issue with this HDD is that the usb connection seems a bit flimsy.I have been using it for a year now with no issues but it is worth mentioning.I have previously used this HDD for storing college work however, now I have it attached to my home router with music and movies stored on it. The usb storage and power is perfect for this. When my router is on the usb powered HDD allows me to stream 1TB of music and movies to any device that is connected to the router. (note this is not a feature of the HDD your router needs to be capable of doing it. This is just what I use it for now)

I have recently purchased this portable hardrive and I could not have made a better choice. To begin with,it's extremely fast; even when storing over three quarters of your data. I use it mainly for school work, games, films and backing up my PC. It truly does what it says but with a spectacular performance. At first I had difficulty deciding which hard drive to purchase but with the recommendation of this drive from a friend I decided to go ahead and get one myself.Lastly, the main reason that this Portable hardrive really has shocked me is for it's durability. I mean the thing is rock solid, not to mention that it is also water proof!Just to show the extent of it's durability I accidentally dropped the thing out of my 3 story school window when it was in my bag (BY ACCIDENT OFCOURSE) and the thing smashed down to the ground and I thought it would be with out a doubt wrecked. But to my full surprise the drive was unscratched, not dented at all and worked 100% perfect as usual. This is why I decided to write this review as I thought I owed it to it's survival. So if you are having a problem deciding your portable hardrive, I highly recommend buying this one!

I cannot say for certain, but this external seems to be as described. Obviously I cannot test it by repeatedly dropping it over and over, or submerging it in liquid as I am not that rich!! All that I can say is that it feels like it's got more protection than a regular external hard drive, thus you have a little more peace of mind.I suggested a friend to get an earlier version of this drive and that was a couple of years ago, to date the drive is running flawlessly and he is still very happy with it.Reviews of these hard drives aren't exactly great. Some reviews complain of slow transfer rates, unfortunately I don't have USB3 so I can't really tell the difference. Other reviews complain about the stiffness of the cable, the cable seems perfectly fine to me.In the past month since purchase I've had no problems with my drive. My drive lives in my college rucksack and endures the occasional knock and dampness through rain.A good purchase as it's not that much more expensive than a regular 1TB USB3 external HDD and gives you additional piece of mind.

I am hard on my tecnology so I decided to go for a sturdy option. It transfers really fast, having the cable around it is wonderful as I never have to dig for it in the bottom of my bag.As others have said the rubber covering doesn't seem to be attached too well, but I fell off my bike with it in my bag yesterday and it seems fine. I have refrained from dropping it in water though so can't comment on that. The usb port into the hardrive, which I assume is usb3 style, is different from standard ones so no cable sharing, but as the cable lives on it this isn't much of an issue.Overall this has been perfect for me,but it looses a star because I keep fiddling with the loose flap of rubber by the cover to the usb port.

I have been using this as a drive to store my offsite backup. Backup at home, carry in to the office (on my bike), leave there... repeat! I've been using it for a while now and so thought I would post a review. I've had zero issues with data transfer and the disk has worked perfectly. If it can cope with the bumps and vibrations it gets each trip in the top-box of a Bandit - it is really pretty rugged!I get what some of the other reviewers have been saying about the usb connection - but I would just class it as 'light' and not flimsy. It's never dropped out on me during a transfer etc.. Overall would have to give these drives a hearty thumbs-up!

Had this a few days now, seems tough and rugged, the outer rubber casing is OK, could be sealed/fitted better in places but overall good. I'd have liked the rubber cover for the USB/Power connection to seal like a grommet rather than just be a tab over it. This later model is USB3 which when dragging files to it today peaked at 105Mb/second so large files go over fast, lots of small files though do slow the speed down but this is expected with any file transfer.. Cable connects well to both HDD and PC, some say it's a little stiff, it's not the most flexible but OK. It is good how it is held in well by the molding around the case.

This product is marketed as 'durable' and so far it has lived up to this. I do try taking care of my things but tend to have a habit of dropping hard drives (previously had WD passport hard drives which both broke). This product however has stood the test of time and has lasted over a year and is still going strong. The cable edge storage idea is great, the only slight problem I have found is the cable length / rigidity (its a little short and doesn't like to bend much beyond the pre bent edge profile of the hard drive. This does make it awkward to connect to certain desktop computers that have usb ports half way up.

Great looking product, works fine. If you're looking for a good value external HDD which can survive some knocks I'd recommend it. Unfortunately good impressions when it was outside the packaging were let down when I opened it to discover the blue rubber casing is just an enclosure stuck on with dots of glue in various places - it came across as a poor quality. The drive inside is also only 5200 rpm which means transfer rates for me are ~30MB/s rather than the 120MB/s achievable by some USB 3 devices. In short, despite being equipped with a USB3 interface it wouldn't even use USB2 to its full potential.

I have only given four stars for the following reasons:1 - As others have said, the rubber cover is not fully attached around USB port2 - For me USB cable is on the short side, I use this for backing up data files on my PC, with the hard drive on the top of the (desktop) PC the cable just about reaches the back USB port with the hard drive at an angle, not laying flat!If Im honest these are niggle little points, over all it is good value for money! Also I have a Sony Head unit in my car with rear connecting USB, I tested this hard drive and its compatable...bonus, will by another one for my car!

Seems to do the job no problems so far the only thing i've got against it is the casing it seems cheap and nasty lol, Its spot glued in place which i don't like also i don't like the way you have to look were the seller is from i thought i was buying in the UK but it came from Europe and took several weeks to arrive, if i had known that i wouldn't of bought it (not the sellers fault) Amazon could make it clear before checkout! I would of given it 5 stars but for the rubber casing

Purchased this for the xbox one as running out of storage space fast! Very easy to connect n go, works brilliantly no probs with wires coming loose etc. Speeds up downloads significantly which is a huge bonus ! Myself and my 9 yr old son are very pleased with this and would definitely recommend to increase storage and download times! Had this a month now and no issues and plenty of storage space left! 10/10 :)

robust HD which seems to do the jobsetting it up with my mac was not so easy (hens 4 stars)I followed the instruction but still had problems so I had to have technical help from a friend who dis something different from the instructions - this may be a apple difference so maybe its easier to set up for PC ?Having said all that I went ahead and got a second one as I do like it once it was all set up to work.

Really great hard drive very fast, nice and big storage. Feels very rugged which is really great feels like i could quite happily throw it down the road and nothing would really happen. However i am not a huge fan of the way the cable is secured around the edge of the drive... feels like I'm gonna loose it. I use this with a Macbook Pro 15" 2016 and the transfer speed is beautifully fast!

Ive heard a few mentions about a fit (or lack of) the rubber housing and its impact on waterproofness. in fact the rubber housing probably has more to do with asthetics and shock absorbtion rather than waterproofness, which will be taken care of inside the outer case.Aside from that, ive only used it once but found it quick and easy to use. All considered good value at the price.

No problems with the unit so far (3 months) - bought because the hi-viz would help me avoid leaving it on a desk somewhere. However, the rubber jacket is only thin and the plastic case exposed in the centre is easily flexed between thumb and forefinger. I also bought a Western Digital 1TB a month earlier together with a Nomad rugged case (£13) which is much more robust solution.
