Orijen Puppy Large is my Newfoundland's favourite food. Free from grains and the unknown derivatives and such sourced "meat", Orijen food is 85% meat, with the remaining percentage lentils and similar non-grain foodstuffs. The first main ingredients are directly sourced fresh and dried meats, rather than derivatives. The Puppy Large differs from the standard yellow bagged Orijen Puppy, in that Puppy Large caters for the metabolic and growth requirements of large and giant breed dogs, which differ from small and medium breeds, and require high-quality protein for lean muscle growth and development, but a lower calorific and carbohydrate intake to help prevent excessive weight gain which can lead to undue stress and strain on growing joints and bones.Calcium and Phosphate levels are also specific for larger breeds, who can have too much of having to overeat less nutritious foods. The yellow bagged standard puppy is designed for all breeds other than large/giant breeds. It has the same 38% protein, but with a GI calorific value, for dogs that have a faster metabolism. The kibble is small but comprises of the same meat ingredients as the large puppy food. The puppy large kibble is slightly larger than the standard puppy kibble, and when placed next to an unnamed but similarly priced premium brand of dog food, my pup picks this every time. His growth has been steady and he is a very trim, lean dog with plenty of muscle and strength. His coat is also in great condition. If you can afford it, I would say it is most definitely worth having this for your large breed puppy. Alternatively, try the Acana range, which is made by the same manufacturers, but the ratio split is 2/3 dried to 1/3 fresh, rather than 2/3 fresh to 1/3 dried. The mantra is still the same, and while perhaps may not be as "premium" and Orijen, will still have the great nutritional benefits and trustworthiness from the manufacturer. As with any food switch, be sure to slowly mix in the food in increasing proportions over a week or so. If your dog is switching from a lower quality lower protein food, there may be some softer poos which they adjust, however, a good probiotic will help during this phase.I wouldn't have my pups on anything else.5-month Newfoundland - Orijen Puppy Large5-month French Bulldog - Orijen Puppy

I did a lot of reading into the range of foods available for puppies and Orijen came out top, when nutrition, cost and convenence are weighed up. The most in depth scientific review ever completed placed Orijen top for puppies. Our Goldador is 22 weeks old and has been on Orijen since 8 weeks. People are always very impressed by her healthy coat and appearance. She is growing really big and strong, even compared to the rest of her litter. The food seems to sit well on her stomach and has produced much firmer stools than the pedigree version, along with far less offensive gaseous emissions! She also seems to need mych less to fill her up,so you will probably end up getting better value for money than you expect: our first 11.4kg bag lasted 8 weeks and our second around 7.On the negative side (4 stars), I can't pretend our puppy loves this healthy option, but I mix it with a quarter tin of Pedigree Puppy, mash in a bit of peanut butter or add a bit of gravy, then it soon disappears.

This food is used to feed a Labrador retriever puppy and she is developing extremely well on it. I had researched and tried several brands in the past , always finding it extremely difficult to judge the food except by studying the content and seeing the dog before me. I have never been a fan of all kibble feeding and my senior labrador has a mix of wet and dry food. My new pup is not upset by the food and her coat is a testament to her health. Her stools are consistent and as they should be. I have not found it difficult to keep her weight and growth steady. I was sceptical about paying so much for the Orijen brand when there are cheaper alternatives available but I trust I am giving my pupthe best start I possibly can.

I spent far too long reading every review of every dog food on the internet. It was worth it to find this one!The quality of the food is incredibly high, no fillers or rubbish. I have a working lab who lives in the city, we do a lot of exercise and this seems to fuel him just fine. He does have an incredibly shiny coat (undoubtedly from the food) and people stop us in the street regularly to tell us how shiny his coat is.My pup has been eating this from 8 weeks and is now 9 months. He has a cup of this biscuit 3 times a day and no wet food at all. He'll stay on it for another couple of months before moving to adult.

Very expensive compared with other commercial brands but you really do get what you pay for. It took about 2 weeks which is normal for my large standard poodle 7 month to tolerate it as it is so much more superior and rich in ingriedients and her poo has decreased and not so bulky and offensive smelling, she is still full of life and more importantly I know that I am giving her the best I can to help keep her healthy and hopefully leading a long and healthy life. It’s like humans eating better quality food designed for humans with not excessive carbohydrates and full of nutrients. Why do we treat our dogs differently.

Our dog recently changed to this food and we are very happy. His skin and coat has greatly improved as has his overall health. This is an expensive product but you get what you pay for, I know this is the best kibble we can give him and he deserves the best.We didn’t follow the gradual changeover as he went off his old food, this isn’t ideal but thankfully it didn’t cause any stomach upset. If you want the best food for your dog go for it, it’s not cheap but the quality is unmatched. It would be great if orijen provided a measuring cup!Reuben loves dinner time!

Excellent food but our GSD’s stomach couldn’t handle it. Switched to Eden Dry now with less fibre and he’s settled on it. Wished I had bought a smaller bag first as had to give the rest of the food away. Have given 5 stars regardless due to the quality content and the fact our dog loved to eat it. One thing to be aware of is the nitrogen content is quite high due to the protein and it can burn your lawn. Recommend putting the sprinklers on or hosing down the lawn when your dog does a tee tee to protect your grass.

Fed Acana and Orijen for years . Both cats and dogs all different breeds etc . The best dry food on the market today in my opinion . The quality of fur is excellent ,healthy eyes , high quality natural glucosamine and chondroitin keeps joints problem free even into old age with no extra supplements . Seems expensive as compared to regular dog foods but you feed very little as it is not full of fillers .Daily cost is in fact pretty good on that basis . Can’t recommend enough.

When you look at the ingredients it is all super stuff exactly what any dog needs to stay healthy. Before buying this I have read a lot about different brands and types of food but as far as dry food goes, this is the best. It also has a good smell and our dog goes at it also when I use it as treats when training. It is not cheap, probably the most expensive dry food .... but worth it so far.

After researching to find a well balanced healthy dry puppy food for my Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy this came out as one of the best. Slightly more expensive than others but quality if ingredients is high. My pup loves it and a bag lasts for about 6-8weeks depending on size of pup and how much they need. Delivery was quick and have 're ordered ready for when 1st bag runs out

My 9month lab’s tummy only seems to suit a raw diet, which not only is expensive (1.4kg+ per day!) but impractical with small children in the home. We’ve tried dozens of different kibbles as the preferred alternative and this one seems, although not perfect, to suit him the best. I appreciate that it’s imported, but I’ve given it 4* as it’s still very expensive.

Great quality food Labrador puppy's coat is very shiny people always comment on how good he looks. If your dog gets loose stools try reducing the recommended amount by 10 to 20% we did this and it firmed him up. We introduced the food gradually. I think it's a little harsh to rate it one star just because your dog doesn't like it the food is good quality.

We got this in desperation after our German Shepherd puppy had spent his first few months with the runs. He didn't have one good day - even on the stuff the vet gave him. One day on this and literally everything changed. I am not exaggerating. Very expensive but life-changing for dogs with sensitive tummies, and for the owners who have to clean up after.

I have been using orijen large puppy food for a number of months, it’s a brilliant food for my GSD pup. It has made a huge difference to her coat and her digestive system. Her poos are are solid and full of energy. It’s expensive but when I buy it on here it’s £12 cheaper that in my local pet shop. Highly recommend to look after your pup and by on here.

I have a young Golden Retriever and I decided to try Orijen (after much research) when looking for a food for him; and he loves it! He has grown well and has a beautiful soft coat. Also not had any issues with his poo now he has been solely on it for a while. I will definitely be putting him on an Orijen adult mix when the time comes.
