Bought this to use as a carry on bag for my honeymoon. I decided on the rush 24 because the listed dimensions fit the airlines carry on bag size restriction. The rush 12 seemed too small. I would have loved to get the rush 72 and still might for future purposes but the dimensions were to big for carry on. I purchased the sandstone color and absolutely love it. Black is too common and I felt that desert tan was too military looking and I don't want to be a poser. I respect service men and women and don't want people thinking I'm something I am not. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is that the bag empty has a surprising amount of weight to it. I think that speaks to the quality of the bag,but this is really my first purchase of this kind. Material is thick and feels durable and the zippers work smoothly even when the bag is overstuffed. So many pockets and compartments you can be very organized while packing. I packed 4 pairs of shorts 6 t-shirts, 6 boxers and 8 pairs of socks. Plus a toothbrush, deodorant, TSA approved toiletry bag, medications phone chargers and a few other small items and I could have fit more (laptop in the hydration pocket). If you use the rolling method to pack your clothes you can fit a lot in this bag. I know they say it's a 24 hour bag but I had 6 days of clothes in here and all my necessary items for travel all in a carry on! I used the provided cinch straps and got right on the plane and no one stopped me to check if my bag would fit in the overhead bin. If you want to carry an extra pair of shoes you would probably want to upgrade to the 72 and use the stuff-it pocket on the front. The shoulder straps are comfortable even with all the weight of 6 days of clothes and the buckle that goes across your chest to connect the two straps helps to distribute the weight a little more. This is my first real backpack so I am not an expert but based on my experience this bag is well worth the price and I expect this bag to last me a lifetime. I think it would be excellent for camping as well. I like that it has the Molle webbing as well so you can add pouches and things if you need more space. I cannot stress enough how satisfied I am with this purchase. I liked it so much I bought a 5.11 MOAB 6 for Edc items (a bad ass man bag). The MOAB 6 came with a strap system that attaches to the webbing so you can connect the bags together to use in a tier system. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the 5.11 bags they offer just find the one that fits your needs the most. Yes, 5.11 stuff is expensive but I feel like I received a very high quality product for the money.

Bought this bag a few weeks ago for a trip to Mexico. Absolutely top quality, there are pouches for everything you could want to pack, you'll be amazed at how much space there is inside the compartments. There are separate mesh compartments inside the main compartment which I found really useful for keeping kit separate, or for knowing exactly where things are, negating the need for rummaging through your pack. It's also worth mentioning the fleece lined pockets which are good for keeping things like your phone safe. there's also a really useful fleece lined compartment specifically for shades on the top.Lastly, the bag is extremely comfortable to wear, even when fully loaded.Had this bag on for extended periods in the Mexican heat and was never irritated by it.The only negative, the first time I wore the pack with only a minimal load one of the zips for the main compartment irreparably came off the runner meaning that I could only use one of them for the whole trip. Whereas this was really annoying I have to credit the supplier - military 1st. When I contacted them they replied promptly & advised me to send it back when I returned to the uk.The bag was sent back to the supplier 2nd class on Monday, by Thursday morning I had the replacement. Really good customer service experience I would definitely by from them again with confidence.

My husband works in the oilfield and needed a pack to carry all of his gear, water, and food. I gave him my old backpack at first. I had had this thing since middle school, had taken it hiking through Scotland and Canada, etc. It was one tough bag. He used it up within a month. I realized I could either buy a cheap bag every month or so, or I could drop some change on something that would (hopefully) last a while. That was a year ago.The 5.11 backpack has held up through some seriously tough conditions. It has been slung on hundreds of trucks, dropped in muddy salt water, covered in frac sand, mud, grease, and who knows what else. The 24 is the perfect size for holding all of my husband's PPE (except for the hard hat)and still has room for all the other miscellaneous junk he carries around. The separate compartments allow him to keep his dirty gear away from his water bottles and food and keep the water away from his phone and mp3 player. The bag is stained and it smells terrible, but nothing is loose, torn, or ragged about it yet. The zippers all still work, and he's able to easily use them while wearing his thick work gloves. Nothing inside (like his really important logbooks) has ever been damaged due to a failure of the bag. We hope to get several more years out of this hard-working backpack.

I only just received this today and I already like it very much. It came in a package instead of a box, so I initially thought it was much smaller than I anticipated. When I opened the package everything was still sealed nicely in plastic. It looked and smelled brand new. Everything was there including the tags and labels for hydration ports, etc. The zippers and buckles appear to be a kind of polymer that feels and looks very durable. I may change the zipper pulls but they are definitely functional. None of the zippers or buckles are broken, I've checked all of them while changing bags. This will be my new Go Bag for emergencies.I already have it loaded down with almost everything I had in my old bag and there is still room to spare not including the exterior webbing where I can mount additional packs or pockets. I still haven't filled all of the space inside. I have yet to test where I can stash my laptop and there is no real indication where to place the bladder. I have a 1 Liter Platypus bladder and there are two ports where the hose can be routed. I may purchase additional exterior packs and make use of the webbing.

I just love the Rush 24. I use it for work and it gets a fair amount of hammer without complaint. I was impressed that on inspecting it on delivery there wasn't one thread out of place. Seriously, not one thread! I can honestly say this is the best quality product i have, matched only by my 5.11 trousers. The handle feels like it will last forever and the shoulder straps are designed with no weak spots, all very robust. The admin pouch is great for what it says, separating papers and pens and admin from the rest of the pack. There are hidden pockets and in all it makes for a mini office. I wouldn't use it for fellwalking as it is a bit heavy and there's no waist strap but i didn't buy it for that. All the zips are strong and can be padlocked together if needed. I'm told you can fit in laptops etc but beware there is no built in padding on the bottom but that's not hard to sort out if you want. If you are looking at this pack I would say buy it. I call it my 'bag for life', because that's how long i think it will last! Pity I can only give 5 stars.

I was looking for an everyday carry/school/15 inch macbook pro bag and eventually decided on this bag. Initially I ordered the 5.11 Rush 12 bag after doing a lot of research and finding that many people thought the Rush 24 was too big to haul around all the time. Got the Rush 12 and while it can technically fit a 15" laptop, it's not very accessible or easy put in the bag. So I returned the Rush 12 decided to move up to the Rush 24, and I'm happy I did. It fits the laptop comfortably as well as many other things I typically carry around including my iPad, kindle, chargers, EDC stuff, etc. It's not as huge as some reviews indicated. Also worth noting is that the compression straps significantly reduce the profile of the bag when it is not completely full, like when I only have my laptop as opposed to books and other gear. This is a great day pack and would be perfect for maybe a weekends worth of clothing. The quality appears to be great; the material is heavy duty and durable. Overall a great pack.

I purchased this pack for the occasional deer hunt. Since then, more than 3 years ago, it has seldom gone a day without hard use. I take it to work with all of my equipment, tools and documents inside, where it is slammed around and thrown about all day. On the weekends I switch out the contents, slide in a water bladder and take it hiking. When my kids were little, the multiple interior compartments made it the best diaper bag I've ever seen. When I travel it can fit all of what I need, including a suit and extra shoes for a two or three day trip and still easily pass muster as a cary-on even in the smallest of aircraft. In that travel capacity, the water compartment becomes a laptop sleeve.Oh and it's been on a few deer hunts too. All this and nary a stitch has come undone.

This is exactly what I was looking for to use as a day hiking pack and carrier for clothing layers, hydration bladder, lunch, and camera equipment. This design was chosen specifically for the side "compression strap" that can secure a lightweight tripod on the outside, the hydration pocket, and no waist strap. I couldn't be more happy to have a quality pack fit all my needs.I own some older military surplus for their durability and most importantly their large zippers (There is nothing worse than cheap small very fine zippers on outdoor gear.), but find them to be uncomfortable and unaccommodating to small items and organization. This pack really satisfies all those requirements for me.I am happy to pay the price asked and feel fully satisfied with my purchase.

Did much research before buying this pack. 5.11 has definitely thought this line of packs out and produced a winner. The Rush 24 is the perfect size for light travel and carry on when flying. I've been on two trips with it and handles everything you can throw at it...compartments everywhere! I also used it on a mountain hike (10 km) and found it very comfy. Easy to adjust. A little big for that purpose, but was not cumbersome. Quality is top drawer. The hydration slot is great for an iPad or smaller laptop when travelling. Amazon has a great price point for this colour. The price goes up if you want the camo version. Also found a place in Calgary that produces name tags and flags/patches that fit the Velcro mounts which finishes it off nicely.

I have been using this as an everyday backpack for about a month now and I am really liking it. The zippers are smooth and easy to open/close. The pockets are great. It's very easy to keep organized. It seems to be very well made and durable. I can see this lasting many years.I was hesitant due to the price, I wanted to spend half that on a backpack but now I believe it is absolutely worth the dough.I do a variety of work and always find that I need to keep lots of tools/equipment on me. I wasn't sure a tactical style backpack was my thing but I guess it is!I went with the sandstone because it is much easier to find small objects in the bag that is a lighter color.I look forward to adding more5.11 gear soon!

I just received the Rush24 backpack. I added two Molle pouches on the front which are shown on the attached picture. There is so much room that I really didn't need them but I ordered them at the same time so I went ahead and put them on.First glance, this is a well made product. Lots of room to hold everything I need. The only change I would have liked is for a separate section/sleeve for a laptop. It is still an awesome bag. I am adding a Molle drink holder to use when I don't need the hydration bladder.Time will tell how well it holds up but I am guessing it will be a good long term pack.

This backpack has great workmanship. There's are tons of storage space and it's very well thought out. I use the hydration bladder section to carry my 15" Dell laptop. It fits in there perfectly and it's well protected. There's lots of Molle webbing. I've attached two Maxpedition EDC Pocket Organizers to the sides for additional storage. I wish it came with a waist belt to help distribute the weight of a heavy pack onto your hips. There are some attachments for this, I think. Overall, I'm really digging this backpack and would recommend it.

Bought this backpack for a 3 week trip to India. It basically carried everything I needed each day while away from my bunk. Plenty of pockets internally for all my items. Comfortable even with 3-4 liters of water and my stuff. No sign of wear even though it was put on the filthy dirt and gravel all the time. The top handle is well constructed and was comfortable to move around or carry via that handle. Had no issues with airlines regarding size even though it was packed nearly full each time I boarded. Nothing bad I can say about this pack.

9.12.2018

Without a doubt the most functional medium size pack I have ever owned. Designed with functionality and operational capability in mind this is an outstanding piece of equipment and has far more carry capacity than its initial appearance. Although I originally bought it for work as a ‘get home pack’, on reconsideration I have consigned it to wilderness use and have set it up for that purpose. I’m still undecided as to whether I buy a second RUSH24 or a RUSH12. Either way these are a high quality Pack. I look forward to field testing it.

Amazing backpack. There are more compartments that you could ever wish for. This is NOT a cheap backpack, it is very sturdy and robust, it will fit more that you think it will. One of my back straps did start fraying at the seam but I'm sure this is a one off occasion. I even used it with the frayed edge for over a month before I fixed it and it did not fray more.Very happy with this one, it's perfect for airsofting, hiking or even 1 day camping. You might want to look for alternatives if you want to camp out for longer!
